What a cute authentic diner. First time here! What I noticed is the server knew the customers, calling them by name. Everyone very friendly. Food was great and was a true diner. Even the kitchen staff said goodbye! Would definitely return!

Very nice diner feel. The food is good, the coffee is hot and ready. A good place for a home cooked meal.

Second visit to the kitchen, and with food this good, there will definitely be more in the future!…read moreWe visited on a very cold morning, and orders are placed outside on the porch before entering. That's fine in normal cold weather, but at 22 degrees the overhead heaters just don't quite cut it. I think this part of the experience could use a little revision. My wife had pancakes with vanilla syrup and sausage. I ordered the classic breakfast with eggs, grits, sausage, and toast. Everything was very flavorful. My only complaint was that my food was lukewarm. It seemed like my food may have been finished and sat for a few minutes while my wife's pancakes were completed. On a cold morning, I would have preferred a hotter meal, the grits weren't warm enough to melt the butter, and the toast was cold, so I didn't even attempt to butter it. That said, even with the temperature issue, the food was still very tasty, and given how cold it was outside, I'm willing to let it slide. Everything arrived quickly, and the restaurant itself is very quaint, set in an old home that is very clean. On our first visit, they offered chocolate chip cookies to go, and they were excellent! They didn't have any this time, but we'll be back again to try our luck. To those about to nosh, I salute you!!

They were busy, we grabbed a seat at the bar and had a chance to talk to Big Mama (her special that Friday was lasagna and boy did it look AMAZING) Hubs likes to chat, so we got the back story on how long they'd been in business (2 years this past spring) I got the triple decker club on sourdough and my lanta, it was DELIGHTFUL - the bacon was fresh, crunchy, lettuce was crisp and the tomatoes were PERFECTION. Hubs got the Mega Meaty Bowl - the picture doesn't do it justice, if you leave here hungry it's your own fault. They're open til 2 daily, check them out next time your in town - daily lunch specials rotate along with their soups! You won't be disappointed and Big Mama will make sure you enjoyed your visit!

Nikki our server was friendly and on top of it. Would highly recommend. (visiting from Texas)

I was grateful to be able to get a seat at the bar, with a less than 10 minute wait. It is honestly worth it! The staff was warm and welcoming, even with tending to loads of customers (this is a true skill and art). The ambiance is upbeat and lively! Imagine a roadside breakfast parlor. I sat at the bar and it was good vibes! The hostess used to live in my hometown (who woulda thunk it) & I met the coolest guy from Boston, who has a golden doodle named Nugget back home. Good vibes all the way, which added to a special experience. He was flying back home after his meal. Now, onto the food (the part you all have been patiently waiting for). I ordered a hibiscus tea as my beverage (warm and refreshing). I also ordered the carrot cake hotcakes, a side of bacon, and a side of home fries. The carrot hotcakes were luscious! They came with hazelnut butter, and amazing syrup!!! These hotcakes were savory and filling! The bacon had an essence of hickory! A perfect medley between crispy and tender! The home fries were seasoned nicely and I doused them with ketchup and hot sauce! This was an iconic and memorable restaurant experience for me! This is coming from someone who has dined in restaurants around the world! Cheers!

Would've been better if the food had arrived warmer. I know some people like to eat their food at…read moreroom temp, but just not my preference. In my experience, if eggs "over easy" are cooked at too high a temp the whites become leathery. I know some people like that leathery white thing, but just not my preference. And no, the eggs being room temp didn't offset being cooked in too hot oil. The biscuit was doughy (maybe just undercooked) but I was able to eat around the edges of it and the edges were actually tasty. Sure would've liked to have had a whole biscuit tho! I know some people like to eat their biscuits at room temp, but just not my preference. I prefer them hot, I think they taste better. A hot biscuit also helps to melt the butter and at the risk of sounding like a prima donna the cold little bricks of butter I tried and failed to spread on it became a bit of a turnoff. The home fries seemed undercooked but I was able to eat a few. Nothing really special about them, just seemed like a potato chopped up and pushed around in grease. I did like the jam/jelly selection, nicely done. Some may wonder why I didn't complain or send this back. I had an appointment down the road and wouldn't have made that considering the initial order took 12 minutes from payment to plate landing on the table, so a re-do would've been??? no idea how long. Sometimes it's better to just tough it out. It wasn't busy, there was no line to order, about 6-8 patrons total in the restaurant. I was surprised at the wait, but part of that was my order getting crossed with someone else. The other guy who first got my plate shouted over to me that he didn't sneeze on my food, so that was nice.

We were served by Autumn, who was really friendly and always there for us. I ordered an omelet with biscuit and gravy for a side. The omelet itself was good. The eggs were more fluffy than I usually have, not sure why, maybe just more whipped. I could be wrong, but the cheese seemed like the plasticky cheese product that come in the individual wrappers. That being said, it was good. I ordered the biscuit and gravy because I had never had either at a Waffle House. The biscuit was interesting, not southern style at all, very machine made in size and texture. Not bad, but not as good as I had hoped. The gravy was actually pretty good. Most places use a mix, and this may have been a mix, but it contained salt and tasted like greasy gravy... Not the best I've had, but decent. Having been to many Waffle House locations, I will be happy to come back to this one.

We arrived and got the last table that our waitress was just cleaning off. And since we knew what we wanted, she took our order right then. It's always fun to hear your order "shouted" to the cook! Not five minutes later, my hashbrown bowl arrived. Cooked properly with slightly underdone hash browns, ham, eggs and cheese. For a change, I had it topped with Bert's chili and while it's good chili, that was not a great choice for breakfast. I'll do that again for an evening meal. A moment later, my wife's waffle arrived. The report from my wife was that the ladies room was five stars. Super clean and that's pretty awesome to hear because I've heard some stories. But not today. A very filling meal, great coffee and we were on our way to see the Andy Griffith Museum and more here in "Mayberry." [Review 1515 of 2024 - 3661 in North Carolina - 22538 overall]
