    Peach Pie

Cute place with an upstairs seating area plus a few outside. But the service left to be desired. The younger gal at the cash was friendly (nicest) but the one making drinks and possibly the manager/owner seemed too bothered. Perhaps it was a busy Monday afternoon but answering our questions seemed a chore or annoyance. Soup of day, none. Glass of water? As she was handing over cups, she then says it's low upstairs. As I'm waiting, she then says I'm busying making other drinks. Ok, no problem just let me know. They ran out of fig jam for ham apple sandwich and it was just okay, nothing special. Our group liked the quiche that came with meat and other was veggies. The peach pie seemed like canned peaches and just okay.

Such a nice coffee shop with so much more. Don't miss the cozy upstairs dining area. Order at the counter and they'll bring your food up when it's ready. We came for breakfast and ordered the Breakfast plate. Only scrambled eggs are available, but that's how I like my eggs. I love all the GF bakery items too. We will have to return for the desserts.

Another local -not so hidden- gem. We went there for brunch on a Saturday morning. Such a cute place with a loaded menu. The staff is super nice and friendly and the place has a cute authentic vibe. The southwest burrito and the latte were okay, but the ambiance and the music made up for it.

Such a cute place. Stopped in to get a Cappuccino which was perfect. Also ordered a spicy Chai latte- man oh man it was sooooo good. Such a welcoming and cozy place. So many people in and out and everyone is super friendly. Upstairs has room to sit and visit. We will definitely go back. Don't change- ever , please.

    Yummmmmmmmm

Grazie mille, Keely, for creating an absolutely epic cappuccino exactly the way that I had requested. It felt as if it were full of clouds and lifted me above them! Looooooove Appalachian Java Cafe, the perfect spot for a loooooong motorcycle ride on the epic roads in the Blue Ridge. Can't wait to return....

The coffee shop has a great ambiance, extremely friendly & helpful staff with quick service. The food & coffee was so good we visited it both mornings during our trip & bought treats to take home to our kids. Great little place in a very cute downtown area. Highly recommend!

One team, one mission. Elizabeth Gibbs, Steve Scott, and John Jones of Small Potatoes Mobile…read moreKitchen create quality cuisine while excelling in their efforts of sustainability. Their goal of having the greenest food truck in North Carolina is accomplished through several means. The most important of which is readily apparent in every aspect of their food, the use of local ingredients. Rocking F Farm's pork, Wesley Mills' sweet potatoes, and Woody's collards were a few of the NC farm fixings that Small Potatoes used in their lunch menu the day we visited. That afternoon was cold and blustery. It was the type of wind that made you look around expecting Mary Poppins to glide in with her umbrella. Along with Jerry and me, a host of hearty Small Potatoes food truck fans gathered on Linden Street in Winston Salem for a bowl of warm, filling soup. I had the Split Pea Soup. Intensely smoky ham complemented a rainbow of vegetables - carrot, skin on potato, celery, and red bell pepper. This bowl of comfort food was lightly seasoned so that the garden vegetables were the diva of the act. Jerry's Sesame Noodles with Pork had a mild broth, julienned pork, vibrant greens, rice noodles and a subtle pepper seasoning. Take a close look at your soup bowl next visit. The compostable paper bowls are lined with NatureWorks Ingeo, which is derived from plants grown in the USA. There's no plastic or wax lining. You'll love this news. Soup enthusiasts can enjoy a different Small Potatoes homemade soup every week with a Soupscription. The Omnivore option includes soups like Gumbo with Shrimp and Andouille, Cock-a-Leekie, and Smoked Bacon & Bean while the Vegan Soupscription has Curried Winter Squash, Roasted Tomato Fennel, and Tuscan Kale & White Bean. Picks up spots include the Greensboro Children's Museum, Krankie's Airstream in Winston, and the UNC campus Chapel Hill. My Moroccan Style Chicken Hand Pie had a golden thin crust that didn't overwhelm the spiced filling. Chock-full of chicken, dotted with red bell pepper, and bursting with flavor, I am adding this to my favorites list. The menu changes to use seasonally available ingredients, so be sure to try this pie whenever it's an option. Jerry had the Kasha, Mushroom, Greens & Cheese Hand Pie. The cheese really came through in this savory pie (I am guessing it might be from the Goat Lady Dairy). The flaky crust and meaty texture of the mushrooms unify with the greens and kasha. We shared the Apple Pie. Sliced apples with a hint of cinnamon in their natural sweetness made a rustic dessert on-the-go. The Gourmet Grilled Cheese had three cheeses oozing over the edges of buttery, crunchy grilled bread. I'll be keeping a close eye on their Facebook posts to see when they have a Roasted Tomato soup this summer. I can only image how delicious that combination will be! Jerry had the Braised Pork Sandwich. Tomato, onion and carrot were braised with the lean pork. The tender, shredded pork was mounded high on a toasted Brioche bun. All sandwiches were served with Tortilla Chips. On Saturday's, Small Potatoes Mobile Kitchen is at Krankie's Airstream Coffee Park in Winston Salem from 12-3 pm. They always have a vegan option, a vegetarian option, something gluten-free and soups. Make a difference. Eat local and dine with Small Potatoes, an environmentally Green food truck that supports local farmers.
