Great place for a quick cup of Joe, delicious empanada (freshly made!), sweet pastry, or local goods. (Eggs, milk, etc). They also have gear for the river. My go to is the honey lavender latte.

If you find yourself traveling along Marshall, make sure to do yourself a favor and stop in for a fresh empanada and coffee with Chris. Inviting coffee shop on the side of US 70 Highway. This used to be a gas station but has now been turned into a little eclectic coffee shop. They are known for their empanadas and great coffee. They are very reasonably priced for their coffee and service is quick. The owner, Chris is friendly and helpful in guiding to making a coffee decision. I enjoyed an oat milk, mocha latte with caramel, and it was delicious, well balanced, and not too sweet. Great place to stop and refuel your coffee needs!

This is a very well tucked in hidden gem, worth waiting, worth trying. A great snack, and most excellent coffee I've had in my 22 and 1/4 decades of my life. BIG PP Service was absolutely amazing, very kind, super friendly, and well attentive. This place meshed well with the rest of its surroundings, very comforting. It's an abandoned gas station turned Diamond.

Housed in a retired gas station, they have the best empanadas in the Asheville area, vegetarian options too.

Open open open. The Mad Co. Brew House is OPEN!…read more I was passing through here in October 2025 as I am making my way through all 100 of North Carolina's county courthouses. The Madison County Courthouse is temporarily closed due to the water damage but the structure is still standing. On my way back to where I parked, I spotted this place and stopped in. I bought a beer - not much in the way of support, but I am back on keto and not eating pizza no matter how awesome it smells/looks - and opted to write this review immediately. As I'm typing, another customer asked the beertender about the storm. He pointed to the piece of black tape marking high water line on the wall. It's about NINE FEET off the ground. I included a picture. The leaves up here are just about starting to change. If you're thinking of leaf peeping and heading through the North Carolina mountains, don't miss out on Mad Co. Brew House. Firstly, their Pilsner is excellent. Second, they need the support. [Review 1124 of 2025 - 4371 in North Carolina - 24677 overall]

You order at the register, pick up your food, and bus your own table. The minimum requested tip is 20%. The place is "open air" so in June, it was pretty warm. We wouldn't go back, but pizza is so personal so give it a try and see what you think.
