I was told this was a "must see" place to try. I ordered the beef shawarma, baklava, Turkish coffee, and hummus. I didn't end up drinking the Turkish coffee because I really didn't like the smell of it I just dumped it. The hummus was extremely potent but it was very very good. Definitely clears out the sinuses. The baklava was not super sweet like a typical baklava that's drowning in honey. This was very light. The beef Shawarma was tasty. But I would definitely order a side of tzatziki sauce.

Cost effective & fresh flavors that will fill you up at a very reasonable price 2 sandwiches & 2 appetizers run you around 40 bucks Very family oriented and service is great - I'll be back

Great place for bare-bones Mediterranean comfort food. Loved the hummus and babaganoush, and a pretty solid tabbouleh. No atmosphere. Great service.

Babylon is absolutely AMAZING!!! I so wish we had this place in Murfreesboro. I would be there a couple times every week! It is that good! If you love Middle Eastern cuisine, you will love this place! Really!!! Go in and support them! This place needs to remain open -- IT IS A TREASURE!!!

We were in the mood for some Mediterranean and found this place to try. Since it was dinner time, we opted to enjoy sitting outside on their small patio. We were the only customers there and remained so during our dining experience, potentially worrying. Started out with the babaganouj, which was good. Needed to ask for more pita bread, which took a while to get... not sure why as we were the only customers there. I went for the beef shawarma plate. It was a good portion. I found the beef to be a bit bland and the rice was dried out. I had to flag our server a few times to get our water glasses refilled. Not much service other than taking our order and delivering the food. Food was mediocre, and the service wasn't really there. Might be an option in a pinch, but I'll be trying another place next time.

Hummus and pita appetizer.

Ask the Community - Babylon

Are there gluten free options?

I am gluten free and was able to have a great meal. Tell the chef. It is not a dedicated gluten free restaurant where the cooking equipment is only for gluten free food but you can discuss with the owner and get a nice work around.

Today was really good weather so everyone was downtown on the patio of every restaurant and we…read moreequally wanted to be on patio. Yeah that didn't happen because this place was also packed on the patio LMAO So keep that in mind. Good weather=slim chances of sitting outside especially on a Saturday. But, we actually enjoyed sitting indoors, less busy inside, more quiet. The seat inside are like a bench style so keep that in mind if you are a huge privacy person. Also the tables are small so if you are ordering a appetizer try to finish before your food comes out that way she can grab it. It was very tight when the entree came. The wall has a unique aesthetic with different items stemming from their culture. Our waitress was really nice, great sense of humor, and very well dressed in appearance. She paid attention in making sure we got a refill. Appetizer: 3 triple dipper hummus where you get pita bread and 3 flavors of hummus. The jalapeno hummus is the only one that stood out with a taste and flavor. The other two tasted the same and was very bland in my opinion. I ordered the Meze Bowl with couscous and it was really good except the hummus I think it was red roasted I can't remember. I would have been happy just with the jalapeno hummus. The person who I was with ended up getting a kabob and he enjoyed his food. Will I go back ? Yes This was my first visit so next time I know what to order. But, I would be more interested in visiting on a regular weekday vs the weekend. I think people should check it out for sure!

I was starving and saw their booth and a chalkboard of menu options I've never tried or heard of before. I approached and when asked what I would like, I was honest that I was unfamiliar with their cuisine but I trusted them. They asked how I wanted it and I said "how you would eat it! They made me the most incredible meal that has ever passed my lips. I followed Habibi Village on their Instagram so I could chase that high- and boy did I. I NEEDED more of that unique deliciousness. But I was saddened that I was only able to get their Za'aatar once or twice a week and had to travel to multiple spots around the city to a variety of markets and at such limited hours. It is with all of the joy in my heart to support Habibi Village at their brick-and-mortar location as they have grown to a full time spot. Their owner absolutely POURS his soul and spirit into this business and into every meal he serves the community. Plenty of restaurant owners love what they do and love their patrons but this owner stands above and beyond when it comes to passion. This gentleman cares about his food and his patrons on a deep and genuine level that you feel and taste. I clearly can't praise Habibi Village enough. Thank you for what you do for our community and our bellies!

What makes his so special is that the bread is vegan and gluten-free, although also being so scrumptious!! I haven't found an enormous amount of Middle Eastern cuisine in Asheville, but this place brought…read morethe vibe. It's small and unassuming in a strip mall in West Asheville. My takeout was ready on time. While the falafel roll still might have been better fresh, I wanted something that I could plausibly eat several hours later on a mountain without a ton of restaurants nearby, and that choice worked out well. Many falafel rolls come with add-ons that I don't like, but the pickled turnip offering here was both flavorful and colorful. I also got their fries, drizzles with tahini and parsley, which is a good way to eat fries. A case of baked goods and a small market section of canned items were also available. There was certainly space to eat inside or out for someone without my travel schedule. It's also notable that in addition to the usual falafel, they offer ample vegan options as befits the Asheville community, including a house seitan and some other vegetable and fake meat options. I was happy with what I got, but the choice is always appreciated.

I have had falafel in various places all over the country and in Europe and this is in my top two! The Falafel is excellent, the portions are large and everything I have tried at Gypsy Queen has been delicious. I've brought several friends to the restaurant and they have all loved it. Gypsy Queen is one of my go-to places whenever I'm in Asheville. I live in Barnardsville and sometimes I go down there just to have some falafel. Try it for yourself!

He had told me over the phone when I come in it would take 2-5 minutes to prepare the food. I went in and he was folding silverware in napkins. He kept doing that as I stood there. I Starting to get annoyed because there's literally nobody in there and he's just standing there and I said can I go ahead and order. I said ok can I order this..... so he has no desserts, no coffee, majority of the Appetizers he doesn't have. I asked about ordering Turkish coffee, he had no coffee. I asked about the baklava or konafa, nope doesn't have that either. I said ok what about the sampler platter with the whipped feta, and cucumber salad... another nope. I asked if he knows when he will have all these items and what he does have if half the menu he doesn't even have. He said, "Oh maybe tomorrow, maybe next week." Dude it's your business if you're not gonna have things on the menu then you need to take them off the menu. There's no way in hell my food would've been ready in 2 to 5 minutes like he said on the phone if he takes 2 to 5 minutes just to stop what he's doing and address the customer because there's the one who's gonna pay your paycheck not the silverware. He said something about he had authentic Egyptian food and for some reason pointed to the water leak stain on the ceiling. I thought that was kind of weird that someone would point that out unless I thought he was pointing it out I don't know. I said ok I will try coming back another time then. He kept talking but I wont waste my time coming back to a place that doesn't have whats on their menu.
