I ordered the Chicken Schwarma wrap combo, which comes with a lovely "house salad." The wrap was everything I needed, generous, fresh, tasty and perfectly seasoned. The salad was something to behold. No ghostly iceberg or limp greens and anemic tomatoes with bucket dressing. No, this was a toothsome melange of fresh diced vegetables in a tangy homemade dressing. Very unique, and the perfect counterpoint to the richness of the wrap. I can't wait to return enough times to sample everything on the Menu. You owe it to yourself to visit and show them (and yourself) some love! Some of the tables are long, but two of them were occupied by one person, and one of those people had already finished his meal, and was using an entire long table to make phone calls. Service was friendly and fast, the restaurant was clean and pleasant. I ordered the falafel sandwich and it was delicious. The flavor balance was nice -- nothing overpowering, but well seasoned. My dining companions ordered the veggie plate and the lamb plate. One of them did not like the pitas, the other (less picky and more hungry) added an extra side of pitas. Go there semi regularly. Went in today for a to go order. Ordered falafels, two Shawarmas, an order of baba ghanoush and pita bread. When I got home I discovered they forgot the pita bread. I had nothing at home to put the baba ghanoush on. I called them and their remedy was for me to drive the 20+ minutes each way to get the pitas or they could refund $1. Yes that is what I paid for the pita bread, however, it makes the baba ghanoush pretty much worthless. Neither of these options fixed the situation and after some back and forth they begrudgingly offered a free order of pita bread and baba ghanoush on our next visit. I rejoined my family at the table and everyone was finishing up except for my shawarma and the untouched baba ghanoush. I don't see myself returning for the resolution. read more

Have you ever had hummus change your life? If not go eat the hummus at Mr. Kabab. We had two of the sandwiches, salad and hummus. The hummus was my favorite part. The pita bread is much thinner and crispy than I'm used to but I was really just using it as a hummus shovel. The falafel sandwich had both pickles and cucumbers which is something I was not expecting. The lamb shawarma was also very tasty. The inside of the restaurant was small but very clean. My girlfriend and I decided to pick up some Mediterranean food for our day trip to the blue ridge mountains, visiting from out of town. By the time we parked to dig in, we first noticed that there were no utensils. How am I supposed to eat my lamb kebab? I opened the container and they in fact gave me shrimp, wrong order. I was super hungry so I went ahead and tried it, but I couldn't even finish it. It was so hard and salty and sour. I felt like a dumbass using the kebab skewers as makeshift chopsticks, didn't work at all and my hand got greasy. My girlfriend also got the wrong order: one regular chicken and one pistachio chicken but she got two pistachio chicken. The rice tasted like Mexican rice, it's red because of tomatoes, not saffron. read more

Mr Kabab offers high quality Middle Eastern cuisine at a fair price with mostly hits and a few misses. It seems like it's mostly a takeout joint based on the foot traffic I've observed, but I dined in on both my visits. The dining area is decent sized and nothing fancy, which is absolutely fine. I've tried the hummus, falafel, tabbouleh, and their mixed grill entrees with a variety of proteins: kofta, chicken, and lamb. The appetizers are all good, with the hummus being particularly excellent and the falafel being a tad too crunchy. The entrees come with some diced veggie salad, sauteed vegetables (which include too much carrot for my taste), and a heaping bed of rice on which your proteins of choice are laid. The food is all well-seasoned, especially the rice, and the proteins are cooked well. The chicken is tender and juicy, the lamb isn't dried out and is a good mix of lean and fatty, and the kofta is tasty with a slightly softer texture than I was expecting but didn't find to detract from it at all. The biggest weakness I've found here is the pita, which you basically eat with everything. None of the entrees or appetizers come with pita, and it's only available a la carte. It's straight out of a bag and barely warmed over before being served, which is pretty disappointing when it's such an integral part of this type of food. Service is basically just your food being dropped off when it's ready, along with the lovely plastic utensils used to eat but that's just this type of joint so it's all good. Prices are very reasonable and I'll definitely be back to get my fix. read more

As a lover of middle eastern food - this was the worst meal I've ever had from that genre. Rice - a parody of saffron rice. It's colored and flavored with tomato and is not good. Chicken kebab - It tasted like dog food quality ground chicken. Not the slow cooked tender savory chicken you get at an authentic place. It was nasty and it's really hard to mess up chicken. Really hard. Flafael-missing all the tasty herbs and spices. Tastes like Long John Silvers hush puppy, Super blah. Do not come here. This is not authentic middle eastern food. The lamb in the schwarma sandwich had no seasoning, dry and a pretty small portion. The chopped salad with dressing was good. Uber sent us a $12 coupon, so we decided to take advantage of it. :) This is my first time eating Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food, and it was a wonderful surprise. It made me realize how much I've been missing out on good food prior. I was definitely impressed. I wrote this review long after experiencing this establishment, so I'm not really able to give it a thorough review as I have with other restaurants. I also ordered hummus, babaganoush, tabouleh and kibbeh. Everything was very tasty. It was freezing in Mr.Kabob's. I get it. Working around the grill, I'm sure it gets very hot. I ordered the chicken kabob. If i had known the chicken peices were so small I would have ordered 2. The veggies were good, grilled and still a little crunchy. The rice with pine nuts was very good and the salad (minced tomatoes, onions cukes, red cabbage with lemon and oil) was plentiful and tasty. I stopped here for a quick bite while running errands. I only expected this to be an average Mediterranean restaurant, but found the food to be above average for sure. I'm pescatarian so I almost always get falafel at Mediterranean restaurants, and food so here. Their falafel was great; not to dry or over cooked, and very tasty. I got French fries with mine which were also very good. Next time I'm going to try their sautéed vegetables, they looked delicious. This restaurant will be a regular lunch spot for me moving forward, I expect I will be getting a falafel wrap around one a week moving forward. Also, the staff was very friendly and a man who I suspect was the owner genuinely asked how the falafel was.
