We came here for dinner on this Saturday evening, and were promptly seated in one of the few remaining open tables in this spacious restaurant. We were seated in a room with a temporary tarp structure that doubled as a makeshift wall and kept the heat inside. The only problem was, there was a slight gap between the layers of the wall, leaving me fighting uncomfortable blowing wind on this cold day despite being "inside". Nevertheless, the various tapas and dim sum entrees we ordered were all delicious, and my favorites were the salt and pepper prawns and spicy chicken. We sat at the sushi bar, which gave the whole experience a relaxed, casual vibe that we really enjoyed. Service from Steven was fantastic; professional, attentive and genuinely welcoming. The lychee bellini was absolutely delicious and a great way to start the meal. We ordered a variety of small plates and loved the tapas-style approach, perfect if you want to try a little bit of everything. The potstickers, Dan Dan noodles and spring rolls were all wonderful and well-executed. I absolutely loved the noodles and the potstickers were super light and so tasty. The only miss for us was the lobster roll it just didn't quite hit the mark compared to everything else but the rest of the meal made up for it. I've reviewed various lists of best restaurants in Asheville and Red Ginger is nowhere to be found. This is surprising because the dim sum and other Asian small plates are all freshly and professionally prepared, not to mention delicious. We've eaten at Red Ginger twice and selected different items each time. They were each and all very good, it's hard to select a favorite. Maybe it's the Szechuan Wontons, I love the heat. Or maybe the Gua Bao, the small pancake buns are expertly made. We had the Tuna Tataki this time, so fresh and flavorful. After ordering we saw tables with Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings. We either missed these or they were an off-menu special. Im sure they were delicious. And we missed out on the Sticky Rice, the kitchen happened to be out when we dined there (sadness). Some colleagues recommended this Asian restaurant and I had big expectations. The place is spacious and clean. We walked there since we were staying in a hotel nearby, so not sure about parking availability. I had the best wonton soup I've ever had, so by then I already knew this was a great selection. Some of my colleagues ordered two of the green beans, and they insisted that I should try it. The green beans were delicious and they quickly devoured those. I also ordered sushi and it was amazing. Was in Downtown Ashville for the day and was really craving some Chinese/Dimsum which unless you are in Ashville you are not going to find in the area. I pulled up Yelp and found the Red Ginger was only a 5 minute walk away so we headed in that direction. We came in for lunch and were able to get seated no problem. I will say Red Ginger is much better inside then I thought it was which was great. Once seated we looked over the menu and drinks of course too. I went with the 5 Spice Old Fashioned and Ashley got the Lychee Bellini which be both enjoyed. I will say Ashley mom though picked the winner drink wise. She got the Apple Valley Mule which we all agreed was the best of the 3. We of course went with a number of options since we love our Dimsum. We went with: Chicken Lettuce Wraps Pork Dumpling in Shanghai Style Gua Bao Spicy Chicken 5 Spice Chicken Vegetable Fried Rice Salt & Pepper Prawn We enjoyed all of it for sure but if I had to go with my favorites I would have to say my top 2 picks would be the Gua Bao and the Spicy Chicken. The Gua Bao might have been the best I have had. The pancake was so soft and perfectly streaming. The Pork Belly had so much flavor and just melted in your mouth these are a much try. On a short vacation in NC we got this recommendation from a friend and it was really a good place to be in. The servers were good and gave a clear idea and expectations as we were a big group . The ambiance was cozy . The calamari was really crispy and crunchy . I generally dislike but it was really good . The food was excellent. Even though they're supposed to be small plates, I frankly found that they were a little more than a small plate so pace yourself. When ordering there's a lot of gluten-free options to choose from the food comes out pretty quickly. The service was very nice and very attentive. It was a cool Asian ambience. I went here for a late lunch with my mom and we ordered a few dishes to share. We shared seaweed salad, pan-fried veggie dumplings, and crispy spring roles. My mom ordered another dish for herself - home style tofu stir-fry, but I picked at it for the vegetables. Everything was delicious and a decent amount of food for the price. It also came out in rounds so everything wasn't in front of us all at once which I liked. It might sound plain, but I thought the best dishes were the seaweed salad and the vegetables from my mom's stir-fry. We sat outside and they had a nice porch area connected to their restaurant. Service was quick and attentive. Red Ginger is located in downtown Asheville so there is no designated parking lot, but there was a parking garage right behind the restaurant. Me and my husband stumbled on this restaurant when walking downtown during our Asheville visit. We saw that the line was out the door and figured it was the place to be! For our first time here, it was great! The service was excellent. Our waiter marked on the menu his top choices to choose from ,which made it less daunting to order. My fiancé and I tried multiple things. I had the pork dumpling Shanghai style which was very tasty. They fell apart because it was so juicy, but it was worth it. We tried out Red Ginger last night for an early dinner, and it did not disappoint! The waitress was so friendly and had great recommendations, like adding tofu to the green beans. We split the tofu green beans, and I had the mango roll and the mushroom dim sum (husband had 2 orders of non-veg dim sum). They had so many vegetarian options that I had to ask for recommendations! The mango roll was delicious! It was light and refreshing - and creative, which I love when restaurants offer something besides the typical veg roll. The mushroom dim sum was also very good. The vinegar sauce is a perfect addition to it. The green beans with the addition of tofu was great for some protein to the meal. The combo of the 3 dishes was perfect, and we were able to finish it all (after a long hiking day) and have some room for dessert elsewhere. On Sunday when we parked it was $5.50 and we were only gone for 3 hours max it will place you on the right hand side of the restaurant so you don't have to cross over. I did noticed when the waiters were placing the dishes out everyone got chopped sticks. We didn't think about requesting regular silverware since we are ok with the sticks. I asked the waiter about them, and he said people either love them and they're great, or they're really fatty. It depends on 'the batch' the kitchen gets. (I paraphrase, I don't remember the exact words the waiter used) Posted are the before and after pictures of the ribs. I had a 50-50 chance of it being good and a 50-50 chance of being really fatty. My pictures, before & after. Any good chef/cook would be able to tell good ribs from bad ribs. If you want repeat business, you can't serve something like this. I did not send it back because I was warned. And I guess this restaurant is OK with people either loving or hating the food.
