It is located in downtown Asheville so there is no immediate parking lot but there are some places nearby or street parking, The inside is very modern and there is seating both inside and outside. Our server was very friendly and service was very prompt! My family got the Lo Mein with Chicken, Chow Fun with Beef, Sautéed String Bean, Buddha Bean Curd Rolls, Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, and Spicy Chicken. I loved the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings! The wrapper was very tender and the shrimp filling was delicious. It tasted very authentic to me. I also loved the Sautéed String Bean as it had the right amount of garlicky sauce. The Lo Mein was made with thinner than usual noodles but still tasted good. I think the Chow Fun tasted a bit off. It kind of tasted a bit sweet and like drunken noodles at some points as opposed to the traditional smoky flavor that the dish has. The rice noodles that were used were also thin as opposed to the usual wider noodles. As for the Spicy Chicken, it tasted solid. I liked the slight crisp before biting into each piece and it was not really spicy. I definitely tasted the cumin (I am not a super big fan of), which is a popular flavor found in Szechuan cuisine. Overall, I think this is a nice spot for some Chinese food, especially being near the mountains which is more isolated. I would probably rate it a 3.75/5 stars if I could. I wish chicken feet were part of their dim sum menu (it is pretty small and there are no rolling carts in case anyone is wondering). I do think some flavors of the food I tasted seem to cater a bit more to the Western taste palate (my parents agree as well), but I enjoyed my time here. read more

Surprisingly good dim sum in the mountains. Solid har gow (crystal shrimp dumpling on the menu) and shumai with really good steamed pork ribs. The bean curd roll and sticky rice were also good. The fusion fare was not as good with their sticky ribs being a bit dry and the dan dan noodles were a bit different. Red Ginger has been on the list for quite a while, so we were really excited to finally check it out for dinner. We sat at the sushi bar, which gave the whole experience a relaxed, casual vibe that we really enjoyed. Service from Steven was fantastic; professional, attentive and genuinely welcoming. The lychee bellini was absolutely delicious and a great way to start the meal. We ordered a variety of small plates and loved the tapas-style approach, perfect if you want to try a little bit of everything. The potstickers, Dan Dan noodles and spring rolls were all wonderful and well-executed. I absolutely loved the noodles and the potstickers were super light and so tasty. The only miss for us was the lobster roll it just didn't quite hit the mark compared to everything else but the rest of the meal made up for it. I've reviewed various lists of best restaurants in Asheville and Red Ginger is nowhere to be found. This is surprising because the dim sum and other Asian small plates are all freshly and professionally prepared, not to mention delicious. We've eaten at Red Ginger twice and selected different items each time. They were each and all very good, it's hard to select a favorite. Maybe it's the Szechuan Wontons, I love the heat. Or maybe the Gua Bao, the small pancake buns are expertly made. We had the Tuna Tataki this time, so fresh and flavorful. After ordering we saw tables with Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings. We either missed these or they were an off-menu special. Im sure they were delicious. And we missed out on the Sticky Rice, the kitchen happened to be out when we dined there (sadness). Was in Downtown Ashville for the day and was really craving some Chinese/Dimsum which unless you are in Ashville you are not going to find in the area. I pulled up Yelp and found the Red Ginger was only a 5 minute walk away so we headed in that direction. We came in for lunch and were able to get seated no problem. I will say Red Ginger is much better inside then I thought it was which was great. Once seated we looked over the menu and drinks of course too. I went with the 5 Spice Old Fashioned and Ashley got the Lychee Bellini which be both enjoyed. I will say Ashley mom though picked the winner drink wise. She got the Apple Valley Mule which we all agreed was the best of the 3. We of course went with a number of options since we love our Dimsum. We went with: Chicken Lettuce Wraps Pork Dumpling in Shanghai Style Gua Bao Spicy Chicken 5 Spice Chicken Vegetable Fried Rice Salt & Pepper Prawn We enjoyed all of it for sure but if I had to go with my favorites I would have to say my top 2 picks would be the Gua Bao and the Spicy Chicken. The Gua Bao might have been the best I have had. The pancake was so soft and perfectly streaming. The Pork Belly had so much flavor and just melted in your mouth these are a much try. Some colleagues recommended this Asian restaurant and I had big expectations. The place is spacious and clean. We walked there since we were staying in a hotel nearby, so not sure about parking availability. I had the best wonton soup I've ever had, so by then I already knew this was a great selection. I went here for a late lunch with my mom and we ordered a few dishes to share. We shared seaweed salad, pan-fried veggie dumplings, and crispy spring roles. My mom ordered another dish for herself - home style tofu stir-fry, but I picked at it for the vegetables. Everything was delicious and a decent amount of food for the price. It also came out in rounds so everything wasn't in front of us all at once which I liked. It might sound plain, but I thought the best dishes were the seaweed salad and the vegetables from my mom's stir-fry. We sat outside and they had a nice porch area connected to their restaurant. This is my second time here and I continue to be very impressed by both the food and the service. Today I visited on my lunch break and was sat and given water IMMEDIATELY by the owner. My server (Nicholas- big shout out to you!) arrived within seconds and I ordered. It felt like no time at all and my food quickly arrived. DELICIOUS EVERY TIME!! The mango roll was delicious! It was light and refreshing - and creative, which I love when restaurants offer something besides the typical veg roll. The mushroom dim sum was also very good. I was walking through downtown Asheville when I thought I'd stop for lunch. Reviews were pretty good for this place. I saw something on the menu that looked interesting, an appetizer of ribs. I asked the waiter about them, and he said people either love them and they're great, or they're really fatty. It depends on 'the batch' the kitchen gets. (I paraphrase, I don't remember the exact words the waiter used) Posted are the before and after pictures of the ribs. I had a 50-50 chance of it being good and a 50-50 chance of being really fatty. My pictures, before & after. Any good chef/cook would be able to tell good ribs from bad ribs. If you want repeat business, you can't serve something like this. I did not send it back because I was warned. And I guess this restaurant is OK with people either loving or hating the food.
