Overhyped. Big complaint - washed my hands before we ate and they only had Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap. As a result I couldn't get the smell of peppermint off my hands. I'm talking my French fry smell like peppermint. My sandwich smells like peppermint. Seems like I'm being a Karen, but seriously this simple thing totally ruined my dining experience. I went to Rosetta's for the first time today, and I will definitely be back! There were so many great vegan and vegetarian options for all sorts of different preferences, moods, and cuisines. The restaurant felt like a diner / kitchen-style place, which was fun. The outside area was also nice with lots of plants and a good view for people-watching. We had the buddha bowl with the great miso ginger sauce, but the best sauce was the sauce on the rice - I think it was peanut. The avocado could have looked a little better, but the tempeh was tasty, and the bowl was hearty and filling. We also shared the family favorite, which was a tofu, smashed potato, and boiled kale plate. The tofu was cooked in a peanut sauce, but I couldn't really taste it. It was still great, and I really enjoyed that smashed potato. Also, I don't usually like gravy, but this was the best gravy I've ever had. A plus is that it doesn't have mushroom (my husband is allergic). We also had the two mocktails, which were both refreshing, delicious, and reasonably priced! I walked over for lunch today. They have a large patio if the weather is good. The decor is eclectic with lots of plants. Definitely an old Asheville space, but most of Asheville downtown is built in rather than restored. I kinda like it. I tried the coconut curry bowl. Loved the flavors .. mix of peas, carrots, potatoes, onions, chickpeas and more... over rice and covered in curry sauce. Super delish and the peppers had a little spice. It is a lot of do it yourself so not sure why they have a tip option when you check out. Get your silverware, napkins and drink. A friend and I were visiting Asheville (from Texas) as Google recommended it to be a vegan food mecca. We stumbled upon Rosetta's due to a recommendation that we received from the local outfitter's shop. Upon walking in, we were greeted with smiles and the restaurant was packed with locals. That was a good sign. They offered all vegan desserts and they looked appetizing. I was excited to sample the kombucha as I love the drink and buy it from Sprouts all the time. The first time I visited, I ordered a plate with mashed potatoes, greens, and peanut tofu. The food was bland but hearty. I got the peach molasses ginger bucha and it hit the mark. It was light but had peachy ginger undertones. It wasn't spicy like I was expecting. The second time we visited the restaurant, it was the last day before driving back out to Texas, the restaurant wasn't as packed, but it was getting to be. I ordered the curry plate with the salad and a side order of the tempeh. The food was again bland, but filling. This time, I got the mixed berry bucha, it was sweet but spicy in flavor. The food has consistently been to lack salt - not something that I am used to coming from Texas as we love seasoned food. The desserts are delicious, but I will say the snickerdoodle cheesecake pie was yummy, but not overly sweet. I like that the crust was easier to chew. Although, the raspberry cake was dry and not sweet. The service is nice, but not overly bubbly and they don't talk very much. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant, it felt homey and it was nice that they feed the homeless and they can sit inside the restaurant to eat. I've not been to a lot of restaurants that have that kind of hospitality. One thing that upset me was when I asked for a jug of bucha to take back home with me, the cashier got me a jug with a broken spout so when I drove back to Texas, most of the bucha had spilled out and it was completely flat. The first time I tried Rosetta's, they were located down the street from their current spot and offered a mix of vegan/ vegetarian options. They are fully vegan now. The restaurant is counter service and the folks working there are great. The menu is fairly large with so many different options. I recommend the family favorite, the tempeh wings and... actually everything is good!! There's indoor and outdoor seating and the vibes are inclusive and positive. I was expecting something more. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad but unfortunately lacking some flavor. We got two meals to share, Coconut Curry and Tempeh Reuben. I wanted to try their cornbread so we got a slice. Cocunt curry comes with salad with your choice of dressing, I opted for ranch and it was one of the best ranch I had. The curry was good but lacking spice and a little more flavor. The reuben also was missing some flavor. It was just ok. The cornbread was delicious. I wanted to try some of the sweets but unfortunately they were out of almost everything. Service was unbelievable from the minute you entered the young gentleman met and greeted us and handed us menus. You find a table peruse the menu then head to the register to place your order. The Hubs ordered the bbq Buffalo cauliflower and mushroom basket. Fried and unbelievable! Not healthy but yes for tasty:). He also ordered the Ruben. It tasted nothing like a Ruben as it was on some sort of a dill flavored biscuit which I thought was yummy alone. The tempeh, sauce and kraut were tasty but no flavors resembling a Ruben. I ordered the baked tofu with beans and brown rice. It also had Spring Mix and salsa on top. It was very good and not greasy. That tofu was wonderful. Dessert was a blueberry tart, and a raspberry oat bar. Both were wonderful. I preferred the tart as I love a hearty not sweet treat. read more

I've loved this place for such a long time. I remember when it was incredibly affordable and our drunken late night haven. Now it feels a little more upscale and special occasion. Still delightful, vegan comfort, food. I super love their peanut butter tofu, and smashed potatoes. The avocado and tofu sandwich has always been a stable. The last time I went I do feel like the sweet potato fries were that amazing. A little too over spice and a little bit soggy. I remember the desserts being wonderful. They have excellent cakes. The kombucha flight was a nice little treat. I usually just order water because it's my favorite flavor. It was delightful trying them all though. The person who got us a flight did forget the page that tells you all of them so we had to go grab it. Glad we realized it existed. I also got the nachos platter for sharing and my only wish is there's crumbled tempeh and/or tofu to provide more protein. For a meat eater such as myself, i was missing the protein in said nachos. Wanted so much to like Rosetta's. While not a vegan myself, my lady is and this was a vegan restaurant that looked promising. A number of items had descriptions that seemed like they would have a lot of flavor. Unfortunately, while they clearly swung for the fences, they also clearly struck out. First, location was hard to get to. GPS directed me to turn onto a highway entrance ramp but then an immediate turn off of the ramp to a row of local restaurants, bars, etc under the highway overpass and entrance. Thankfully, Melissa was able to follow the map but if you're not familiar with the streets, this could be hard to find. Not taking stars away for that-just giving a bit of forewarning. My issues were with the food and service. Let me start with the service. The entire restaurant, though not big, had one server and the bartender. The server was clearly having a bad night-maybe because she had the whole floor, or maybe something happened that put her in a sour mood. Point is, she couldn't have looked and acted more unhappy to be there. I know what it's like to have a bad night serving and you hate to get a bad review for an off night, but you have to know (especially in this day and age) anyone you serve could be a blogger, yelper or whatever. It sucks, but it is what it is and if you can't fake it, then it's going to come back on you. So service was unfriendly. At most though, this is minus 1/2 to 1 star since our waters were refilled and she was efficient. My biggest issue was the food. I got the Korean bbq entree. Tempeh and veggies (maybe rice? I don't remember) in a Korean bbq sauce with a tahini base. Typically I don't like tahini but it's a bbq sauce and Korean style so it was worth the risk. Or, it should have been worth the risk. How they can call this bbq sauce or Korean is beyond me as it didn't taste like either. It tasted like someone attempted to make a Carolina bbq sauce, but used tahini instead of mustard and then stopped caring. All I tasted was tahini. It just failed on every level. We had good to excellent vegan meals in Asheville. This was not one of them. read more

Not bad but not my cup of tea. I went in with a large group of friends and we all ordered something to eat. Vegan Chili, Buddha bowl, portobello melt, etc. The Buddha bowl looked delicious but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try it. I did try the portobello melt but it was pretty flavorless in my opinion. Which is surprising since the melt had vegan mayo, a marinated portobello cap, and avocado among other toppings. The fries though, they were perfectly crispy and on point. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. They didn't rush us as we all decided what we wanted to eat. The restaurant was clean and I love the indoor/outdoor seating. The outdoor seating space I'd lovely and I highly recommend it on a nice day! They also offer adult Popsicles here and let's face it, who doesn't love an adult popsicle? I was planning on how good I could make this review until I actually went. I was so excited, even sending links to friends - "There's a vegan place here with gluten free options!" Unfortunately, ordering was difficult and awkward with the incredible rude waitress, a girl with dark hair who likes to use her phone and take smoke breaks right outside the door. She had an incredibly sour attitude and wasn't afraid to show it. I accidentally ordered two entree sized meals - the "munchie" category is basically a whole dinner/appetizer for whole group. But I'm not complaining too much! The Buffalo wings were delicious, and gluten friendly! I also got the chili cheese fries. I wasn't a fan of the chili as it was way too spicy and had a very strong spice taste like cumin. But the cheese on top was delicious. The tofu was good but definitely not the star of the plate compared to the wonderful sides. The gravy on the potatoes was amazing! I rarely have vegan gravy and this made me so happy! But the kale...OMG it tastes like it's bad for you. :P So hearty and flavorful. I was sure there was something in there that was not supposed to be, but no, it's indeed vegan! Such an awkward visit to Rosetta's. We ordered food in a group so it was 4 different orders. Three of the 4 orders came out in less than 5 minutes so most of us were done eating our food and the 4th order had still not arrived 20 minutes later. I peeked inside and saw it on the counter. Figuring it would be out in a minute I sat back down. Five full minutes later I came back in and the food was still there sitting on the counter- I politely asked to confirm that it was ours and when they said it was I asked if it could grab it for them. The guy responded "no- we will get it" with no other explanation as to why it was still sitting there and I said "oh ok and laughed" and as I walked out someone behind the counter imitated my laugh which felt pretty yucky as I had been nothing but kind. :( I explained to the two people waiting that their food was coming out shortly but after a minute or two it still had not arrived. My sister went inside and asked what was happening and asked if they could box it up or give a refund. The manager came out, explaining he was Rosetta's son, and asked why there was some frustration. My sister repeated what had happened and again made her request for a refund. He laughed at her and said there would be no refund and that it was perfectly normal etc etc - this might have all been a misunderstanding. I totally get that they had no idea all of us were together because we ordered separately- but at least have some empathy and professionalism and apologize instead of being defensive and literally laughing at us while repeating "this is the standard" As far as the food- I really used to love their peanut butter tofu but the pb tofu side we ordered was dry and bland- not sure if that's just how it is now or if it was just a bad batch. My veggie burger was delicious. My sister and mom eventually got their food to go and gave it to a few house less folks on the walk back to our car. Experience sucked overall and we won't go out of our way to go back- not that they care: When my 78 year old mother said "treating people like this doesn't make people want to come back" he made that clear when he responded "you don't have to come back if you don't want to" lol read more
