I'm not vegan but I can appreciate making plant-based food the highlight of a meal. Plant has created a multi-flavor, multi-cultural menu which has you surprised to what's to come next. The menu was difficult for me since it is small and I couldn't find many recent pictures online. Thus, I tried to take pictures of everything we ordered. I didn't get a picture of the GEM & carrot salad, but we all agreed it was fabulous. The left side of the menu is called "small plates" so they are intended as appetizers. There are only a handful of entrees on the right side. The blondie dessert was great. $60-$100+ each at our table. They serve masterfully-prepared, artisan food. Don't expect a depressing salad or under-seasoned cauliflower taco. Don't expect half a pound of meat on your plate with a mountain of fries, that takes no effort to make it taste acceptable. What this restaurant does is far classier, and far exceeds your local barbecue joint. This is serious, thoughtfully-crafted food. My seitan piccata was absolutely superb - one of the best meals I've head in my life. Hat's off to the chefs. Now the bonus here is that it's vegan. Multiple people recommend Plant to us during our weekend in Asheville, and we see why! I'm vegetarian and visited with a non-veg, but we both agreed the meal was fantastic! Searching best places to visit in Asheville and saw several articles for Plant. I'm not vegan and the food was amazing with better service. The creativity and use of different textures and flavors really impressed me. The Brussels were 5/5. I would've never thought putting Brussels on a tortilla chip would make sense. Also had the curry 4/5. I'm not a curry fan but the dish was so flavorful and tasty. If you like curry you'll love it. Last entree was mushroom mole. 5/5 while the mole was not a fave for me I loved the crispy mushrooms. The drinks were 5/5 berry fizz and their homemade soda is a must try. Lastly dessert. I was happy to be seated even though I didn't have a reservation (if you go, they recommend having one - especially on weekends). The food was super good, but a little expensive. Very creative dishes with quality ingredients though. I ordered the curry and it was very tasty. I was surprised it wasn't served with any rice, but there wasn't much curry sauce so it didn't really need the rice. I really wanted to try the cheese plate, but sadly was there by myself so chose to get dessert instead. I got the brownie Sunday and it was very tasty. WORTH THE HYPE! Reviews led us here, and I am so glad we journeyed the Nile from our downtown hotel to experience. We are not vegans... we like meat... so this culinary delight not only lived up to our expectations, but surpassed them. The cauliflower was incredible, but the BBQ Brussel Sprout Tostados are an experience you must have!!! They don't taste like Brussels, and the texture replicates meat: a full Mexican nachos experience on a chip. My mind is still blown. The beets were good, and the dill sauce delectable. Oh my goodness! What a treat! 5 friends gathered to celebrate a 40th birthday. The guest of honor has been a vegan for forever it seems and what better way to treat the birthday lady but than with a lavish spread of fresh vegan fare. This restaurant opened in 2011 and has been serving up vegan fare with finesse & aplomb since opening its doors. It's been rated as the best vegetarian restaurant in Asheville and has received praise and rave reviews from Zaggat, PETA and Food & Wine. It's a small restaurant, seating less than 50 inside, all in a close intimate setting, as well as a seasonal outdoor 20-seat, dog friendly patio. For this occasion, we ordered one of every small plate on the menu and three of the large plates and shared them all. Our server, Niki, expertly paced the arrival of each new dish so as not to overcrowd the table or rush our dining experience. (Attached photos document this meal.) Like I said, we are not vegan, but typically eat healthy and wanted a break from the other heavy food we had around town. We loved every dish that came out. Yes, in fact I would have liked another beer and my wife would have loved another Malbec. It would have helped make the patio which is situated on a busy road across from a Chick Fil-A palatable. Also, the name of your restaurant is Plant, maybe tend to the Plants on your patio. I don't want to sound harsh, but at $30 an entree, it would be hard to return given the lack of service and the noisy patio with zero ambiance. High-end experience, deliciousss and beautiful food, and excellent service - the best part is, most of the guests were not fully vegan diners as we learned chatting with them while waiting. We started with the cashew cream ravioli, which was an absolute hit for all 3 of our group. Creamy, decadent, flavorful, it was honestly unbelievable that this dish had no cheese or other dairy! Would come back just to have it again. We also got the toast with sesame seeds & radish - it was a seasonal menu item not included in their online menu list but offered on the in-person paper menu. The toast was a roller coaster or flavor, each bite a little different than the last. The only thing we didn't love was it was slightly bitter. For mains we got the total ramen and mushroom mole - the kitchen was gracious enough to divide the ramen into 3 bowls (they said they usually only do 2, but could do 3 for us) which was much appreciated. Ramen was hot, warming, and had a tangy ginger flavor. The best part of the mole was the broccoli covered in mole. What a fun foodie experience! Plant is a totally vegan restaurant - and my husband and I were excited to check this intimate spot out on a recent visit to Asheville. Disclaimer that neither of us are vegan, but there's plenty to love on this menu for herbivores and carnivores alike! We made a reservation one week in advance, which I'd highly recommend, as this spot is incredibly popular. We were seated right away, and quite close to the tables on either side us. While that crowded feeling didn't detract from the service - it's something to keep in mind when choosing where to dine. The food was creative, colorful, and quite tasty. We started with the Toast and the Ravioli, both of which were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the bread used in the Toast, which is a memorable Sweet Potato Brioche. For entrees, we split the Curry and the Crispy Mushroom Mole. The Mole was definitely our favorite of the pair, complete with a variety of textures and sauces to ensure no two bites are the same. The curry was also flavorful - although we might have preferred the tofu to be diced up rather than served as one large piece. Despite the warning of fine dining prices, we found the bill to be quite reasonable for what we ordered. We didn't end up ordering dessert this time around - but only because we didn't have room after our dinner. Question for you - if you eat something and it tastes amazing, does it really matter if its made with animal protein or plant protein? Should it matter if it's beef or tempeh, chicken or tofu, or whatever or whatever, if it tastes out of this world? It shouldn't, and if it does to you, then you treat food like a child who doesn't like things without even trying it, and you should grow up. Plant follows a growing list of high end vegan restaurants that are amazing. My lady and I have been to a few now - she being vegan and me being flexible - in Philly, Chicago, Atlanta, Santa Barbara (not NY though, which is odd for us) - and each one is more impressive then the last. Then there are fine dining establishments with vegan options/menus - thinking of Mise en Place in Tampa and Kres Chophouse in Orlando - where they cater to omnivores but really knock the vegan options out of the park. Point is, we've been around the vegan block. Plant sits in a vegan mecca of sorts in Asheville. Vegans and vegetarians have a lot of options here, but like many cities, your options for a date night or special occasion are slim. That's where Plant comes in. A small, romantic restaurant that is 100% vegan and 100% everything you could ask for. They do 1/2 off wine Wednesdays (does not apply to every bottle), and so we naturally chose Wednesday to come. Had a delicious white Bordeaux. From there, we started with the vegan cheese board, because of course we did. 3 cheeses made from different nuts served with pears and pickled apples and olives and we went with the gluten free bread, which was wonderful (the fact that it was drowning in garlic and butter doesn't need to be mentioned). All three cheeses were creamy, so not much variety in texture, but they were all delicious. I'm surprised it lasted more then 5 minutes (that's what she said...sorry). From there we split the chili con queso and the ramen. The chili wasn't really chili - more like a few large pieces of tempeh covered in a plant based nacho cheese with some pickled jalapenos and other stuff. Loved it. Yes, the gluten came back to bite me but sometimes the suffering is worth it. The ramen was, without a doubt, one of the best things I have ever tasted ever. It might have been the massive amount of salt - me being a salt addict - but I loved this dish. I've never ordered a vegan ramen before because I find tofu in broth to be tasteless. This, however, broke the ramen mold. I would eat this every day if I could. Finally, for dessert, we got a crème brulee and the peanut butter cheesecake. The creme brulee was not good. Missed the mark by a mile and a half. Way too coconutty. However, the peanut butter cheesecake, which is not something i would ever order whether vegan or not, more than made up for it. Excellent consistency, delicious flavor, and a perfect end to an otherwise perfect meal. Is there anything I can say negative? Well, the creme brulee was bad. Also, their reservation system is dumb. You can only make same day reservations but then they don't answer the phone and their voicemail is full, so you can't leave your info. We ended up showing up at 8 ish and having to wait about an hour. Not a big deal - we just went for a couple of drinks somewhere and waited for the text - but if you're hungry, keep in mind you'll probably have to wait. Those negatives, however, don't even move the needle on an otherwise perfect meal. I loved it here. You will love it here. I don't care if you've never had a plant based meal in your life.
