The service is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food is ... lackluster. Chipotle "Queso" was a thin soup that you couldn't even get on the chips because it was so thin. It was bland - it wasn't even mildly spicy. The Irie Itse has dry, tasteless chicken and pretty standard jar pesto. Kids butter noodle was bland and has very little butter. The sauce on The Mesach was good and the jalapeno lime cilantro dressing on the side salad was also good. Last night was our second visit to Nine Mile. My husband and I decided anytime we visit Ashville, we MUST come back to Nine Mile. They had a couple locations but this is the one we have tried so far. The food is the best I've had since moving to North Carolina. It's elevated Caribbean food in a casual style setting. The aroma off my green coconut curry just makes you feel warm inside! It paired well with the Ahi Tuna, gently seared and rare on the inside. It came with sweet roasted plantains and a mango salsa that cut through the richness of the curry. All on top of basmati rice. This restaurant offers a plethora of vegetarian options. Super important for my husband. We had the most wonderful server too! I wish I got his name. My husband and I have been patronizing this location for years. It's our favorite restaurant in Asheville. This dish was delicious per usual. Medium heat. Pasta dishes come with a side salad and Natty Bread. There was a slight wait, but it was well worth it. Our waitress, Leah, was just perfect. Thankfully as a single diner and with some divine timing I was sat at the open kitchen bar seating as I finished getting a drink from the "get a bevy" bat. Excellent customer service, chill vibe, welcoming staff, and Amazon flavors. My only wish is that I had a someone to dine with so I could have shared an app before my meal. This is classic hipster overhype. Impressive to see, not impressive to taste. Salads served with dressing on the side in bowls far too small and deep to toss your own salad. Results in some salad overdressed, some salad underdressed, all the toppings falling to the bottom to be eaten at the end. Ordered chicken on top? Have fun cutting it up yourself. Salads themselves were fine but NOTHING SPECIAL. Nothing life changing. Not even that tahini dressing people can't seem to stop hyping up. Kids pastas were generous in portion but again, bowl was far too small for the amount they gave them. Resulting in pasta and red sauce all over them and the table. House made fruit punch was nice. Service was wonderful. Complimentary bread needed salt and was SOAKED in oil. Restaurant was kept at a balmy 78 degrees (I sat next to the thermostat). I just wouldn't return. My wife had a tofu salad (vegan) and that was every bit as good as the chicken dish. I also tried the Gouda cheese dip and mango salsa with corn chips and the dips were fabulous. It was a beautiful evening so we sat at a table outside. The neighborhood is really cute. The food was absolutely delicious! My friends ordered their Carribean menu and I had the Chicken with Pesto Pasta. Everyone loved their meals! The staff is so friendly and really know their stuff! There a couple of locations, and we ate at the Montford Ave location as it was closest to our Airbnb. OMG. This place was recommended to us by someone local. We're soooo glad we went and chose the original location. We didn't have reservations, but were able to be immediately seated. We ordered one beer, the fruit punch, back-a-yard and the cool runnings. For dessert we had a key lime vegan tart. The fruit punch was like nothing I've ever had before. It was epic! Our food was out of this world. We wished we had more time to go back for one more dinner here before heading home, but sadly we did not. This place is a must. It was the best meal we had during our entire vacation. The meals came with yummy salads and really good bread. Everything had so many flavors and were perfectly spiced. We went to a popular roof restaurant that had an incredible view of the su.n setting mountains...it was BEAUTIFUL!! But for someone who struggles to find food to eat because of all of my allergies..they didn't have much to offer. So we left and the valet told us about this place up the street that sells Caribbean food...so here we are! So far the staff were very friendly and helpful...our server worked with me to find something accommodating for me to eat. When I placed my order she came back and told me that something I ordered had citrus in it and helped me find something else on the menu. So my husband ordered Cool Runnings that had Jerk Chicken, Rice and chutney/sauce with a side salad. Unfortunately, because of my allergies and food restrictions (gluten, citrus, peaches, etc) I ordered a la carte and ended up with Jerk Chicken (I don't eat a lot of chicken), steamed broccoli/cauliflower and rice. The chicken was flavorful but I really wish I could have tasted something more Caribbean (besides the chicken) since I've never eaten Caribbean food before. Of course that wasn't their fault. Their hours and popularity stopped us from being able to fit it in our schedule during that trip. We arrived just as we got in to town and right as they were opening, so we were seated right away. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and ready with recommendations when asked. While we waited for our friends who were joining us to arrive, we got a round of drinks (lots of local beers on the menu) and an order of The Lioness appetizer (smoked gouda chipotle queso and chips). It was delicious! The meals all have some funny and interesting names, but it was hard to decide on one thing to get. Many MANY things are, or are easily made, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free. I ended up ordering the Island in the Sea, which if I recall they were able to make (it was suggested) with a mixture of the alfredo and marinara sauces. It was tasty, and a huge serving! Came here in April and I don't remember what I got but my wife said I loved it and she's probably right because this recent visit was incredible. First, we sat at the bar, and had fantastic service. Helpful recommendations, friendly, and fun. I got the mesach (sp?) with gluten free pasta and blackened tofu. I wish I knew how to get tofu to retain this much flavor but I have never had such flavorful and delicious tofu. The cream sauce was an awesome Alfredo-like sauce and was perfect with the gluten free pasta. My wife got their name sake dish-nine mile. It was very good and you won't regret getting it but mine was definitely better. We also split a bowl of their vegan chili. That, too, was fantastic but truth be told, our homemade is better.
