New Year's day lunch after a walk at Jackson Park
    Ed B.

My partner and I were walking in Jackson Park HVL and decided to grab a bite on the way back to AVL. New Year decided to try new restaurant. Glad we did. This authentic and delicious Greek food will have us coming back for more and bringing friends as well. The lobster corn soup (bisque like) was perfect and delicious. It was served at the right temperature and needed no seasoning. The flavors were fully developed. It was an upcharge to the soup and salad selection but worth it. Salads and greek dressing were fresh and plentiful. Spanakopita was tasty and cooked in a wrap roll shape. The restaurant was clean, painted in Greek colors, quiet and service was helpful, friendly and attentive. Will be back to try dinner, lamb chops.

Another dining experience Shout Out! This time, my husband and I enjoyed a superb lunch today at Feta Flav Greek Taverna on 2111 Asheville Highway in Hendersonville, NC! It was our second time dining here! Today, we shared "The Clucker"....their grilled chicken tenders gyro, served in a pita with tzatziki, tomato or red bell peppers, raw red onion ($15.29). We also shared their famous stewed Greek Green Beans, which was one of the choices of sides included with the gyro. All of their menu items are their secret, family recipes that were passed down for generations. The Clucker, grilled chicken gyro was outstanding! Moist, tender, full of incredible flavors. Marinated and grilled to perfection. You take a bite and as you ate, the more different levels and depths of fabulous flavors appeared. Mmmm! Holy moly, it was good! Because it was so good, I took very small bites, taking my time to eat it! I wanted to savor and relish every single bite and all the fantastic flavors. Wow! Wow! Wow! The flavors were not over-powering. They had just right balance that was perfection. Oh! Their tzatziki sauce was amazing and so was their pita bread! Their famous Green Beans are stewed in a fabulous tomato sauce with lots of different spices. Shut the Front Door delicious! Everything was so good! As we ate our lunch and also on our drive home, we kept commenting on how good it was. We really enjoyed every.single.bite! We will have to try their dinners one night soon! I know it will be an awesome experience. Chef Alex Baxvanis definitely knows his Greek Cuisine! They do an exceptional job here at Feta Flav. To Chef Alan, to his wife Ashleigh who is a Baking/Pastry and Culinary Chef and to his entire staff... take a bow! Your menus items, great cooking skills and your amazing recipes are to be applauded and truly appreciated. Keep up the great work! https://fetaflavgt.com #fetaflav

My takeout was ready on time. While the falafel roll still might have been better fresh, I wanted something that I could plausibly eat several hours later on a mountain without a ton of restaurants nearby, and that choice worked out well. Many falafel rolls come with add-ons that I don't like, but the pickled turnip offering here was both flavorful and colorful. I also got their fries, drizzles with tahini and parsley, which is a good way to eat fries. A case of baked goods and a small market section of canned items were also available. There was certainly space to eat inside or out for someone without my travel schedule. It's also notable that in addition to the usual falafel, they offer ample vegan options as befits the Asheville community, including a house seitan and some other vegetable and fake meat options. I was happy with what I got, but the choice is always appreciated.

I have had falafel in various places all over the country and in Europe and this is in my top two! The Falafel is excellent, the portions are large and everything I have tried at Gypsy Queen has been delicious. I've brought several friends to the restaurant and they have all loved it. Gypsy Queen is one of my go-to places whenever I'm in Asheville. I live in Barnardsville and sometimes I go down there just to have some falafel. Try it for yourself!

Everything from Arabic music on the speakers to Arabic calligraphy on the wall. The music was a little loud for my taste though I am a fan of Arabic music so this isn't necessarily a criticism. The menu was humble but offered dishes anyone would recognize, from gyros to greek salads to baklava. Everything was made fresh. I decided to keep it simple and order a lamb gyro and fries. My sandwich tasted fresh but the lamb had the familiar taste of Kornos meat which common and mass-produced cones of lamb or beef/lamb. This product is by no means bad but to me more on the bland side. The fries were crinckle style. They were made to order but had some brown burn marks on them, which means they were likely pan-fried as opposed to being deep-fried in a basket . I often pan-fry french fries or frozen potatoes myself. Overall, the meal was good for a mid-day meal. Its not anything to write home about but Ive been a loyal patron to many such establishments. So if you're in the area and want something Mediterranean for breakfast or lunch, be sure to give this place a try, its worth it.

He had told me over the phone when I come in it would take 2-5 minutes to prepare the food. I went in and he was folding silverware in napkins. He kept doing that as I stood there. I Starting to get annoyed because there's literally nobody in there and he's just standing there and I said can I go ahead and order. I said ok can I order this..... so he has no desserts, no coffee, majority of the Appetizers he doesn't have. I asked about ordering Turkish coffee, he had no coffee. I asked about the baklava or konafa, nope doesn't have that either. I said ok what about the sampler platter with the whipped feta, and cucumber salad... another nope. I asked if he knows when he will have all these items and what he does have if half the menu he doesn't even have. He said, "Oh maybe tomorrow, maybe next week." Dude it's your business if you're not gonna have things on the menu then you need to take them off the menu. There's no way in hell my food would've been ready in 2 to 5 minutes like he said on the phone if he takes 2 to 5 minutes just to stop what he's doing and address the customer because there's the one who's gonna pay your paycheck not the silverware. He said something about he had authentic Egyptian food and for some reason pointed to the water leak stain on the ceiling. I thought that was kind of weird that someone would point that out unless I thought he was pointing it out I don't know. I said ok I will try coming back another time then. He kept talking but I wont waste my time coming back to a place that doesn't have whats on their menu.

The vibe eating outside on a cloudy 80 degree day made the experience even that more enjoyable. I apologize in advance for not remembering the actual menu names of the food we ordered, so I'm kinda winging it here. Speaking of wings, the Turkish spiced wings were so dang good! Perfectly spiced with tight and crispy skin. What a treat. The falafel app we ordered that came with hummus and babaganoush, wow. Excellent homemade falafel and you can tell the accompaniments were also made in house too. Could have eaten three more portions of the falafel by myself. The Chicken Adana kebab was moist and juicy and charred and spiced and seasoned and fantastically delicious. The basmati rice was buttery, the pita was toasted and fresh. Yeah that didn't happen because this place was also packed on the patio LMAO So keep that in mind. Good weather=slim chances of sitting outside especially on a Saturday. But, we actually enjoyed sitting indoors, less busy inside, more quiet. The seat inside are like a bench style so keep that in mind if you are a huge privacy person. Also the tables are small so if you are ordering a appetizer try to finish before your food comes out that way she can grab it. It was very tight when the entree came. The wall has a unique aesthetic with different items stemming from their culture. Our waitress was really nice, great sense of humor, and very well dressed in appearance. She paid attention in making sure we got a refill. Appetizer: 3 triple dipper hummus where you get pita bread and 3 flavors of hummus. The jalapeno hummus is the only one that stood out with a taste and flavor. The other two tasted the same and was very bland in my opinion. I ordered the Meze Bowl with couscous and it was really good except the hummus I think it was red roasted I can't remember. I would have been happy just with the jalapeno hummus. The person who I was with ended up getting a kabob and he enjoyed his food. Will I go back ? Yes This was my first visit so next time I know what to order. But, I would be more interested in visiting on a regular weekday vs the weekend. I think people should check it out for sure!
