I'm a watch enthusiast. I own several watches, including a patek, panerai, hublot, and rolex. I look at a few websites for preowned watches almost every day. Bernard watch company is one of them. I've been visiting their site for over 8 years and I have never purchased a watch from them. I find their pictures are nice, descriptions are sparse, and prices way too high. Recently a friend of mine traded in a watch for another one and mentioned how much they paid. They gave 25% less than what they sell the watch for now on the site. And the other watch that it was traded in for sold at the website price which I assume cost them 25% less than they charge. So the simple fact of trading in a watch for another one on their site means they make 25% on two transactions. It amazes me how little they think the watch is worth when they buy it and how much it is when they sell it. In one recent encounter, I attempted to haggle for a better price than listed on their site. P.J. replied that their price was firm. The unwillingless to negotiate and explain why showed how greedy and unprofessional they are. The watch was well over $5000 and did not include shipping. There's a wire transfer discount of about 3% but that's nothing considering that the wire itself costs the sender money. I had been looking for an Omega Speedmaster Apollo-Soyuz Special Edition for four years after Omega quit making the watch. BEWARE! This business does not keep their word! I requested to sell my Baume et Mercier watch with all requested photos attached. They responded with an offer of $600. I proceeded to call them as well. And Corey assured me that as long as the watch is functional and have all boxes and papers that I would get my money. I even extensively tested for accuracy on all my watches and my Baume et Mercier runs about -8 seconds a day which pretty good for an older timepiece. So I decided to send the item to them. Next day, the owner Jeff Bernard emails me and says that the watch has a hard time running and loses about 30 seconds a day based on their quick tests. But then confirms next day that it ran about-4 seconds, which is great accuracy. So he then offers to repair the watch for $350 and offers to give me only $250 for the watch! Needlessly to say I declined and told him to send my watch back immediately! This is how they stay in business, scamming and doing bait n switch and other shady type of business practices. They take pre owned watches in good working order, nitpick every little detail and then renegotiate their orginal offer. In hopes that you will take the bait then they will turnaround sell the same exact watch for triple the amount they paid from unsuspecting watch collectors. If I could give zero stars I would. I am warning others so they don't have the same unpleasant experience. Don't waste your time. Sell on Ebay or just keep it. Caveat Empateor. read more
