I went in today, thinking that my watch's movement was bad, based on consultation with an AI program. Clark, the repair guy, took one two second look at the watch and said that the watch had stopped because the second hand was touching or blocking the minute hand, somehow stopping the watch. He worked on it while I waited, for 8 minutes. He fully fixed it, but didn't want to charge me. I'll be back to that place! read more

I've visited Throckmorton's several times over the years as I've started building my collection of fine watches. Back in 2013, they quickly diagnosed an issue with my watch: the end pieces were rattling because the spring bar was too small. They replaced it on the spot, and the rattling stopped immediately. More recently, my wife's watch began losing time, so I took it in for servicing. Throckmorton's is likely the only independent certified Rolex service center in Austin, which made them my go-to choice. They initially estimated the service would take about a month, but it was completed in just under two weeks. I have no doubt the quality of work was exceptional. While picking up my wife's watch, I decided to drop off my own for a much-needed service--it's the same watch they helped with in 2013 and probably hasn't ever been serviced. I'm hopeful the turnaround time will be just as quick as before. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the service at Throckmorton's. Absolutely AWFUL! These people used to be good for jewelry repairs but now they farm it out and they don't check the quality! It took 3 tries for them to get one item correct. The other item broke as well and there's no way I'm going to let them touch it again. And we're talking about over a $1500 repair for two rings. They yes yes yes me to death and then just sent it off and never even checked when it got back to them 5 trips to their store for the one item. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

After being a returning customer, I will no longer be supporting this place. On my lunch break, went in to ask for a replacement spring bar. The simplest request in the watch making industry. The donkeys working refused to help me because the watch maker wasn't in right then. I told them I could install myself, and just need a new one. They acted like I asked for a free watch or something... so confused, I asked if they knew where the spring bars were kept and if they could just find one that matched. Apparently that was entirely too much for the brain-dead women working the counter. I try to support mom & pop shops but this is exactly why Jared, Zales, Fast-Fix, etc beat the living heck out places like this. Warning, warning do not take your vintage diamond or jewelry in to get repaired here. You will not get it back. It will be changed out. I've had heirloom necklace from great grandmother and my diamond wedding ring for Repair and got back down graded diamonds with tremendous loss of value. Map your diamonds. If you must take it in there for repair. Would never recommend Rolex repair there. Do not take in. You will have third party parts exchange for your Rolex parts. I received a watch for my 40th birthday, and it needed an adjustment on the band. It was the most expensive watch I've owned to date, so I wanted a professional to do it. Not the guy in the center aisle kiosk at the mall.. Throckmorton's popped up, and I'm glad it did! I was greeted politely, and when I asked about getting my watch fitted, they said sure thing, let's see it. I informed them that I didn't purchase the watch from them, and she was totally ok with it. I went here after being told that my watch was to water damaged and was rusted. The other place was going to send it in for more than the watch cost me. After getting that Information I decided to take my watch to Throckmorton's, I had used him before to fix the hands of my watch. He was completely honest about what was going on with my watch. He replaced the battery and it started working again and he told me that he could fix the water problem, but it would be an ongoing problem. I was very happy with how honest he was regarding the water issue. They have a awesome salt water tank to enjoy while he is checking out your watch. read more

I was nervous about dropping off my grandmother's vintage Rolex for servicing. I spoke with husband and wife team, David and Tracey, who were very patient with me and explained they use genuine Rolex parts and that David would do the servicing right there in the store.They assured me my watch would be safe and secure in their safe monitored by multiple cameras. I had a bad experience with Ben Bridge jewelers, they put your watch in the mail to send to their service center, and they wanted $650 to service it! My watch isn't an expensive one but it has sentimental value. Throckmorton's servicing was significantly less at $350 which made me concerned about the quality of their services. I was wrong. Once I decided I would take the chance and leave my watch with them, I was impressed with their receipting process. They take a picture of your item that is integrated with the computer system and prints out on your receipt, in color. Ben Bridge gave me a pink carbon copy of a hand written receipt. No picture. No computer entry. Because David does all the repairs on a first come first serve basis, he told me it would take about 4 weeks to complete. I was pleasantly surprised when I got a call 2 weeks later that it was ready. When I picked it up, it was beautifully polished. David also took the time to give me some information on my vintage Rolex. He told me it was the most popular ladies Rolex in the 1960s and 1970s but that it has no seal to make it the least bit water resistant. He told me to be extremely careful washing my hands - best to take it off. It also is a watch that must be wound. He made sure I knew how far to wind it - all the way but not past the point in which you feel resistance - and that it would keep time for about 36 hours. I was very happy with Throckmorton's service (it wouldn't be a waste of time to stop in just to see their salt water aquarium) and I was extremely glad I was able to keep my dollars here in Austin by shopping local. read more

During our vow renewal ceremony my husband gave me a beautiful new ring set. Unfortunately the two pieces were not conjoined. The woman at the counter was so sweet and friendly and quoted me an under $100 fee for soldering the rings together and told me it would take about 5 days. She also told me if I brought a little plastic bottle with me when I came to pick up my ring she could give me some great cleaning solution for it. 4 days later my ring was ready and I also got my free cleaning solution! These guys are so great truly a family owned business. When looking for a Christmas present with my dad, I bought a beautiful Victronix "Maverick". That watch is still going strong to this day, truly looking l brand new. I have continued by going to buy straps, batteries, and just troubleshooting type questions. They have never made me feel pressure to make a decision and have expensive work done at the shop, then and there, which I have experienced at other ATX stores. I'm an Austin native and am a tad embarrassed to say I've never been to Throckmorton's. I decided to rectify that mistake by dropping in to take a look at their Oris watches. I've heard amazing things about Oris and Oris' Diver Sixty Five range. I was so impressed by the salesperson, Michelle, because she knew the answer to every single question I had about those watches. As I've gotten deeper and deeper into watches I've found I'm often the most knowledgeable person about the watches in the shop I'm visiting. Not this time! Michelle schooled me on Oris' history, she knew each different movement for each different model and much more. I could tell she was a watch nerd and just loved what she was selling. It was also very telling that their owner and master watchmaker, David, was also wearing an Oris and raved about its value and build quality. It also impressed me that Throckmortons clearly has a relationship with the owners of Oris and are thrilled to facilitate supply of Oris to Austin.
