I can't say enough about this place - but I will try. The food is so amazing. Everything my table ordered was unbelievably good. And the dishes a super unique. This is not your cookie cutter brunch spot. And the Millionaire Candy bacon is worth all of the hype. Also unlike other brunch spot the portion sizes are huge and the prices are totally reasonable. So, this is a fun and delish gathering place. When we were invited to a birthday brunch in Berkeley, we were scared. Berkeley? Is there anything else than Top Dog there. Oh my, please forgive me Berkeley. We had a blast! So, Berkeley Social Club is the cousin of Surisan in SF. So, everything in the menu feels .... exciting, different, intriguing. Brussel Sprouts Hash, Bulgogi Benedict, KFC waffles, Dirty Ube Latte. We were intrigued and did not mind to pay for it. Are they great food to eat? I'm going to join the millennials to look at the dish as a whole; taste and experience. I had fun taking pictures of the dishes. They were pretty and interesting looking. Therefore, they are 5stars! (The x in me: psssst.... not everything was good. They were potatoes, eggs, meat and flour) Service: It's an uber busy place. It's not a place where you sit, enjoy your morning, enjoy your food and companion place. Maybe because we were there on Saturday brunch hours? Hard to get service. All servers and helpers were sprinting from one table to another. After a while it's a blur who was our server. When we tried to just flag anyone, we were either ignored nor told to let our server know. We kept asking until we got the right person. That part was not pleasant. Stopped by this place for a quick meal. The decorations for the holidays were so nice and the vibe was perfect. The food took a while to come out but it was decent. A little pricey but we definitely got what we ordered. Everything was a lot more asian than we expected but it was good. Okay!!!! You have to go to this place! The interior is excellent the vibe is cool and the atmosphere was just fun. The servers were all just fabulous. I felt a team work from the entire front house staff. The menus is Korean crazy cool. Who puts cheese on Gyozo dumplings? That was mega good. The menu has so many great fun and delicious selection you have to go here a few times or just order a bunch of things and eat until you can't move. My coworker and I ate both adventurous eaters and we ordered 4 appetizers. I only slapped 1 pic because everything was so great we just dug in. This place was GREAT!!! read more

This place was surprisingly good. I haven't been around the area for a while, so found this place to eat at with a friend. A M B I E N C E They're so child friendly and even gave my kiddo unlimited shrimp chips with our appetizer order. F O O D - The Millionaire bacon was so good, but pricey of course. - Kimchi fried rice was ok. - Braised Pork Belly was delicious. I ended up eating it all after we took it for leftovers going home. I'd get this again, but can't remember what dish this actually was. S E R V I C E On point. Wow. Insanely the best club moco i've ever tasted. I love the portion of the food, very tasty and everything just makes sense. I tried club moco in few other restaurants and I dare to say that this by far is one of the best club moco i've had. The egg is perfectly runny, the meat is juicy, soft, kimchi is fresh, gravy so good! The place itself is so cute! Perfect place to catch up with friends or even a solo date!! I've been going back and forth about whether I should leave a review, but considering that my partner and I have been coming to Berkeley Social Club for many years, I feel it is important to share what happened today and why we will not be returning. We both ordered the Korean Fried Chicken burger. When the food arrived, the fries were served half hot and half cold. Some were burnt. It was immediately clear they had been sitting out and reheated, not freshly prepared. The real issue was the chicken. The center of my partner's patty was visibly raw and completely inedible. I have attached a photo so you can judge for yourself. When I brought it to the server's attention, he told me that was impossible because the chicken is reheated in the microwave. That comment left me stunned. It confirmed what we had already suspected, that the food was not fresh. We were seated close enough to the kitchen to hear the microwave going off repeatedly, which only added to our concerns. Since leaving the restaurant, both of us have started feeling sick, and we were perfectly fine earlier in the day. We are now genuinely worried about food poisoning. As someone who lives in Berkeley and has supported this place for years, I am disappointed. This did not feel like a one-time mistake. It was a complete breakdown in quality, food safety, and accountability. I never thought I would say this, but we will not be coming back. read more

Haven't been in a hot minute but this spot remains a great option for brunch in the area. Love the fusion options for breakfast and service has always been decent. My go to for Berkeley Brunch. Whether it's the Korean Fried Chicken or the Salmon Benedict, palates are always full of sweet and spicy and colorful favors. Bottomless mimosas on separate occasions have been very memorable although service will stop if you reach a certain point. Ambiance is loud but balanced out by a spacious main floor. This place offers Asian- American fusion food. Filled with college kids during weekend brunch hours. I have been here a couple times. The service was great and attentive. Menu price was on the higher size. Good portion was big. The ricotta lemon pancake that I tried, I would expected more for that price. A lot of carbs, it's way more than I could have. Just an average taste, it will be nice if it comes with a little more berries. Their famous bacon was popular here. It tasted great but a little too greasy and heavy for breakfast. read more

Such a fun and popular Korean-American fusion brunch spot in Berkeley, CA!! The brunch menu is definitely than their dinner menu. I've been here twice! For brunch, I've gotten the Bulgogi BSC burger + Korean FC eggs Benedict and both were insanely good. For dinner, we got the curry noodles (added Korean fried chicken), the Cali burger, and the dolsot with bulgogi. Everything was so yummy, but definitely a bit overpriced. The service is quick and they keep refilling our water! The restaurant is in downtown Berkeley and has cute date vibes (saw SO many couples here lol)! read more

First time coming here and the ramen is so flippin cute!!! My friend ordered the ramen with the million dollar bacon and I got the crab eggs Benedict. What I didn't like about my meal was the hollandaise sauce has wasabi in it and I'm glad I asked for it on the side because I didn't even use it. The asparagus was cooked really well and tasted surprisingly delicious! I tried the ramen and I actually like it, they added mushrooms and other veggies into it which was a nice touch. The whole restaurant was ridiculously loud and I definitely see people having trouble hearing their friend/significant other across the table from them. The staff was very friendly and they were quick to bring our dishes and clean up. I kept having to ask them for water even though they could see my empty cup. The atmosphere is very vibey, the food was alright, but the prices were a reach. I thought it was too expensive for the quality of food we got. The really big downside to this place is the parking situation. It took me a solid 15 minutes of looking for street parking and finally found a spot I had to pay for. I don't see myself coming back because of the parking inconvenience and the overpriced food. read more

Unique food in a comfy casual place right by Cal campus. We came by on Sunday before noon to join the wait-list. We were seated in about 25 minutes. Along the sides of the restaurant are tables with benches and cushions, and luckily we got one of these tables. We ordered the pimped up Ramyun and dutch pancake. The waitress mentioned the dutch pancake takes about 20 minutes to prepare which was fine. What's interesting is, the Ramyun took 20 minutes to arrive, which I attribute to a backed up kitchen. Looking around at the parties who were seated moments before us, they didn't have their food yet either. The pancake came after 30 minutes and it was beyond delicious! I loved the crispy edges with the soft moist bottom. All the toppings went well with the pancake and it all went down our throats lickety split. The Ramyun was more addicting than I anticipated. The noodles were great and the candied bacon strip was a nice touch. It's really busy here and the wait staff are always moving around doing something. They have a positive attitude and are responsive when you get their attention. They are very focused on what catches their eyes like clearing tables but it can take time to get someone's attention since no one was looking up from their tasks. My husband's water was refilled three times while we were there and my water sat empty. Perhaps my cup was a stretch as I sat inside. I highly recommend coming here as part of your day in Berkeley! I will come back to try other items on their menu! read more

I came to Berkeley for a food event but it didn't turn out how I expected it to be. So I looked around the downtown area to see what was good. This place popped up on my search, so I said "why not" So upon arrival, you sign in to be on the waitlist but luckily mine was just a 2 minute or so. The menu is a more Korean-American fusion which I love. I love Korean food so I was excited to see bulgogi on their menu and what not. I ordered the bulgogi scrambled and it was perfect. The meat had a sweetness taste with it that went well with the other condiments. The roasted potatoes were cooked perfectly. Nicely seasoned. The toast was a nice pair with the eggs. The only downside was my table was a little sticky but that's it. Interior wise is beautiful, big screen t.v.'s everywhere. I'm curious what millionaire bacon is so I will have to try that next time. read more

My mom would be very displeased and shocked if I told her I paid $20 on rice porridge today. But I would tell her that it had all the fancy fixings and more in it than what we would expect in a traditional bowl of Chinese rice porridge or jook. Every bite was an explosion of different flavors. It was intense. If I order this again I'll ask to have it toned down a bit or put all the fixings in the side. read more

Ube Latte: 5/5 -- The coffee and ube flavors were SO GOOD blended together. I usually don't drink coffee but I finished this so fast. G.I. Fried Rice: 5/5 -- Absolutely amazing. We happened to be in the area and wanted a good brunch spot so decided on the Social Club. Just like Sweet Maple and Surisan the KFC and millionaires bacon is great. What really stood out fir me was the rice porridge. Love the take they do here. Very flavorful especially with the bacon. The dirty ube latte also hit the mark. Parking can be tough but there is a garage around the block. Staff are awesome and cocktails also spot on. read more

I finally was able to stop by and try this place. I heard good things about the happy hour food. I ordered the garlic fries. They were just okay. It's a good option for happy hour. I ordered the soy garlic wings. I think it was a bit pricey for happy hour, 3 wings for $6. The wings were delicious tho. We weee sat quickly ok a Friday around 5pm. I will say the food came relatively fast. However it took a while to get the attention of servers to get water, napkins and other things. I want to try the brunch items next time. Yes! There are only walk-ins on weekends, and both walk-ins/reservations on the weekdays. If you do a walk-in on the weekend though for brunch, it can sometimes be a bit of a wait (~30+ min depending on how big your party is)

OK, let's start with the fries ... wow. Super crispy. Don't know what they do to them, but I think I almost ate all the fries that came with one of the burgers before I even touched the burger. The fries seemed to have a coating like some fries do to make them extra crispy on the outside. Whatever it was, it made them so good, I couldn't stop eating them. I was almost too full for the burger. But who are we kidding? If there is one thing I am good at, it is eating more than I should. The burger, which is described on Door Dash as "char grilled, fresh ground brisket and short rib burger, served on a toasted brioche fun with crisp lettuce, tomato onion marmalade and garlic aioli" was thick and incredibly flavorful. I couldn't stop eating that, either. It was that good. I ordered it medium, and it was pretty pink, but it was sooooooo flavorful, and all the toppings worked well together. I didn't get any cheese on it because I wanted to try to burger by itself and not mask it with cheese. I might try adding cheese next time, but honestly the burger is so good, I almost wouldn't want to cover up its flavor with cheese. Oh, I almost forgot. When you order on Door Dash, you can opt to have them include a small side of their chocolate-chipotle bbq sauce, and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a really interesting flavor and is good for dipping the fries in. I didn't try putting it on the burger, but that might be good, too. The mac and cheese was OK. It's important to note that I enjoyed the flavor but it is more of an eggy consistency than a saucy mac and cheese if that makes sense. It has a nice kick of black pepper, which I liked, though. The vegetarian fried rice was also fine but could have used a little salt. All that to say, don't be like me and procrastinate, get the Cali Alley Burger and fries ASAP.

I recently visited Berkeley Social Club for brunch and ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Benedict. The dish was fantastic--the chicken had a perfect texture, the flavors were spot on, and the presentation was impressive. The Yukon Gold potatoes served on the side were crispy and full of flavor, making for a delicious meal overall. However, my experience was marred by poor service. I ordered bottomless mimosas, and my first mimosa was a flavor that I didn't enjoy. I left half of it in the glass, anticipating that my server would replace it when she returned. When she came to refill, I politely asked for a different flavor, explaining that I didn't like the first one. Instead of accommodating my request, she insisted--quite forcefully--that I chug the remainder of the drink before she would bring me a new one. Despite telling her several times that I didn't want to finish the mimosa, she raised her voice and demanded that I do so. I felt disrespected and uncomfortable with how she handled the situation. Good customer service is crucial in the hospitality industry, and this incident was a clear miss. I didn't understand why it was such a big deal to get a fresh glass, especially after I made it clear that I didn't enjoy the original flavor & did not want to drink it. Looking back, I wish I asked for the manager at this point instead of complying with her. I am the paying customer after all. Came here for brunch with a group of 4 on a Sunday so I was worried about the wait. However, we were seated shortly after arriving as spots opened up outside. The outside seating area is cute with bench style seating and a corn hole game, but much smaller than the inside eating area. This place is Korean fusion and I was very excited to try their KFC (Korean fried chicken). I ended up getting the KFC tacos with a sweet mimosa. The tacos were good with fresh avocado and salsas, but the KFC was sadly underwhelming. I liked the flavoring of the batter on the chicken, but where was the sauce? And it wasn't as crispy as I like so that was disappointing. I also tried some of the stuffed French toast which is good but very filling! Would recommend sharing that with a couple others because I could only eat about a fourth of it. The millionaires bacon was also pretty good, and I'm not a fan of bacon :P It's thick cut and has a sweetness to it from the brown sugar, not as smoky as regular bacon. Love this place!!! I came here on a busy Saturday night with my friend. The food was great and the service even better. We have to wait just a little bit for table even they are very busy. The Korean fusion food is very inspired. We order Takoball and Dino foot as appetizer. Also the Galbi(grilled shot rib Korean style) and Galbi tang(Galbi soup and it come with rice) as our entree. Everything we ordered here was amazing and our water glass never been empty. The servers always come back to check on us and refill water. They are very friendly and smiles all the time. I like that!!! Great atmosphere. The decorations so beautiful, I like their colorful pillow and wall. Can't wait to come back to check out their brunch and try the famous Millionaire's Bacon (I heard so much about it) PS. They have FULL BAR & 40 BEERS ON TAP!!! read more

Berkeley Social Club is my all-time favorite spot whenever I visit Berkeley. It's super close to the downtown BART station, making it an easy stop, and I love strolling through the nearby tea shops and bookstores after a meal--it's the perfect way to spend the day. The space is spacious and beautifully decorated, with a warm, inviting vibe that makes it perfect for any social gathering, just like the name suggests. Whether I'm meeting up with friends or having a relaxed solo meal, it always feels like the right choice. But what keeps me coming back is the food--especially their Jjamppong. The Jjamppong is packed with rich, spicy broth and fresh seafood that hits all the right notes!
