Food was good! My friends overall liked their meals. The bulgogi was so yum. The salmon toast was good! Got some drinks as well. My friend said the lychee drink was too sweet. I got the dirty coconut latte and it was really good but it's so pricy for what it is. Overall, I'd come back for the food! Minus a star for service... wasn't the best but they were nice

Parking is a little tricky but we were able to find a spot right away! We went on a Sunday so it was really busy around 12-1pm. We put ourselves on the waitlist and the wait was about 30-40mins. I've gotten the Ube latte, and it was pretty yummy but I could barely taste the ube. We waited about 25mins for our food to come out but it was fresh and hot when we've gotten it. It was super yummy! I liked my scrambled bulgogi. It came with potatoes and a slice of toast. Overall I finished my plate! We ordered: Side of Mixed fruits Bulgogi scrambled Tornado Bulgogi Omurice Dirty Ube Latte Hot chocolate (not pictured) The place was really pretty but by the host stand it was very tight. Better to wait outside for your table!

I've been to BSC a couple of times during undergrad, but this was my first visit in a while after coming back to Berkeley! Before going, I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. There's usually a line (especially on weekends for brunch or in the evenings), but thankfully I was seated quickly while my friend looked for parking nearby. Now, this isn't the restaurant's fault, but it was LOUD. We happened to be seated next to two very social groups, so it was a bit difficult to hear anything. Which duh, we're in a social club! But I was practically yelling just to talk to my friend lol. Depending on your tolerance, you might want to ask to be seated on the patio, since it can get pretty rowdy inside. As for the food, it was fine. I had been craving BSC's Mascarpone Blueberry Stuffed Crunch French Toast after years of deprivation, while my friend ordered a burger with a side of fries. I'm not sure what changed (or maybe it's just me), but the French toast was much greasier than I remembered (with even less fruit!) Every bite felt pretty heavy, and while I was excited to eat it, I only managed to finish half before tapping out. My friend, on the other hand, finished her plate so maybe a burger was the way to go. I did manage to steal a fry though, which was amazing, so I'd highly recommend that. But I probably wouldn't order the French toast again. All in all, the service was great! The ambiance was a bit loud, and the food was okay. BSC is definitely a must-try brunch spot if you're in Berkeley, but if I go again, I'd probably opt for a different dish from their expansive menu.

Famous for their brunch here, but their dinner is not bad as well appropriate for nice dinners with extended family, atmosphere is pretty and well decorated. I like the pillows on the benches on the side. super creative menu in my opinion fun and colorful and definitely pleasing to the eye with good presentation. The actual quality and taste of the food does not match the concept of the food conceptually but I think is OK for a solid 8 out of 10 experience. bottomless mimosas is also fun (can do at brunch OR dinner!)

My 1st time eating from Berkeley Social Club. We had the food delivered and everything was described. We also had the BSC onion soup, it is a large portion with tomato's and mozzarella, served with a side of bread. I liked the food and flavors, I would definitely return here again!

Came here for Sunday brunch around 11:30am. Seemed busy inside, but we opted to dine out back in the patio area and were seated right away. Super cute outdoor dining area btw. It was sunny, but still a little chilly out so I'm glad they had plenty of heaters. We ordered: Salmon Avocado Toast ($15) Bulgogi Bowl ($21) Blackstone Benedict ($25) - suggested by our server. Personally didn't love the Millionaire's Bacon, but it's popular here. BSC beer flight ($12) - came with 4 choices of beer. My partner drank one and noticed there were slimy sediments in it. The server was kind about it and switched it out, but be aware. Overall I thought the food was solid, but nothing stood out for me. Sadly not a fan of the popular millionaire's bacon. However, service was excellent and the outdoor ambience was really nice. A bit on the pricier side.

Korean fusion spot with good atmosphere and good food. The fried rice came on a hot plate so the egg cooks in front of you, and pairs well with the millionaires bacon. The bibimbap had good flavor and all the dishes were well made.

Came here for brunch on a Wednesday, was traveling with a coworker. Staff was very welcoming; it was not busy. But the vibes were right for a nice brunch with a coworker. I bet this spot is really fun in the evening, too. My coconut cream latte was SO good. Highly recommend, if you like coconut, of course. There were flakes on top. I had to try the Pajun Pancake, because I had never heard of it before, and didn't know where else I'd try it. It was tasty! Just huge! Definitely could be shared with someone. (Assuming you also get an app before the entree). By the end of my meal, I was picking through it, leaving the pancake, and eating the shrimp, bacon, kimchi, etc. out of it. My coworker got the BSC burger. He liked it! We both enjoyed the place enough that we said, "We'd come back if/when we're in town." But both agreed that it was 4 stars. And we'd need to review dinner service/food before giving it a 5 star review. See you next time! Thanks!

I'm so happy Berkeley Social Club is still around and serving delicious food; even since my last visit 8 years later. We came on a Friday for breakfast, and it wasn't super busy. Service was excellent and attentive. Love the decor and the cozy vibes in here. My very favorite (even with years later) is the Waffle + KFC. Soooo dang good!! I mean, I just want more! The chicken is crispy and the waffle with the fruit was perfectly sweet. It's a must try. Parking can be a pain. So find one and walk. There is a parking garage a few blocks away and can be an option.

Came here a few times before, but this is my first time reviewing Berkeley Social Club. My friends and I came here on a Sunday during brunch hours and we were simple and ordered the "two eggs any style" - and I got mines scrambled. I also ordered some green tea as well and they refilled the hot water which was nice. Food came out pretty quickly. The food was fine, a little bit on the smaller portion though. The restaurant was lively and full. The other times I've been here, I got their Waffle & KFC, Pimp Up Ramyun, and one of their other brunch dishes. I remember them being pretty good! I remember I also had their mimosas too and it was good and strong! There are tons of seatings indoors and outdoors. Highly recommend to make reservations cause has been crowded every time I've been here. I would come back here again. Majority is street parking or you can take BART to Downtown Berkeley and walk over.

Berkeley Social Club continues to be one of my most reliable brunch spots--especially when I have family and friends visiting from out of town. I introduced a friend to this place a few weeks ago, and recently she called me craving it and asked for the name again. That alone says a lot. She drove an hour just to come back, and honestly, I get it. Here's what we ordered: Lemon Ricotta Pancakes w/ Berry Topping - 1/10 Sadly, the only miss of the meal. The pancakes lacked both lemon brightness and ricotta richness, resulting in a pretty bland bite. This dish needs a serious flavor boost. Bulgogi Omelette w/ Sweet Potato Tots - 8/10 Packed with flavor and well-balanced. The bulgogi, carrots, green onion, and red onion came together beautifully. This is the dish my friend drove an hour for--and it delivered. Egg Whites, Yukon Potatoes & Sourdough Toast - 8/10 Simple, clean, and satisfying. Nothing over the top, but executed well and consistently tasty. Fresh Fruit - 8/10 Actually fresh (which deserves recognition). Millionaire's Bacon - 10/10 The star of the show and the reason I keep coming back. Flavorful, zesty, and perfectly cooked. It used to have a stronger spicy kick, so I'd love to see two versions offered--one classic and one extra spicy. Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice - 10/10 A true luxury and rare find these days. Extra points for being a hangover hero. Yuja Citrus Toddy - 7/10 A comforting hot toddy with a sweet citrus twist. Pleasant, warming, and nicely balanced. The plating and presentation are consistently top-tier, and service is quick and efficient. I've never had a bad experience here. One tip: be very clear and speak slowly when ordering, as there can occasionally be a language barrier depending on your server. I asked for scrambled eggs light and received egg whites instead--no harm done, and I took it as a sign to eat cleaner that day. Overall, Berkeley Social Club remains a strong brunch staple. It's dependable, well-presented, and a great spot to bring guests who want a solid Berkeley brunch experience. Even with a rare miss, it's still a place I'll continue to recommend and return to.

Really great spot! Love the Ube lattes the most and the soft tofu soup -- it was plated very beautifully. The prices can be a bit steep and I am a bigger fan of the evening menu. For breakfast, I got the eggs two style and got a little bit of the stomach ache from getting the eggs over easy. The potatoes are really great tho. The soup combo is really great though. Plated pretty, good portions albeit a bit expensive. Service is nice albeit slow due to how busy it gets, it's very very dog friendly in the back patio area. Will be back with more furry friends.

Ask the Community - Berkeley Social Club

    Do they offer Small portions?

    Portions are decently large.

Are walk-ins accepted for dinner on weekends? If so, how hard do you think it is to get seating for 5 or 6 people in the early dinner hours, say 6pm on a Saturday?

We are welcome for walk-in. Weekend dinner may take a longer wait. I would recommend you to make a reservation for a big party on the weekend. It would be better. You can make a reservation on the Yelp.… Read more

What gluten-free breakfast or brunch options are enticing?

You think they would let me order breakfast at dinner?

I'm not sure but as they have different menus for brunch and dinner, I wouldn't think so.

Do they require proof of vaccination?

No, but they do ask you to wear your mask until you start eating.

Is bottomless mimosas enjoyable on the weekends with the 60 minute time limit or does it feel too rushed?

Definitely. An hour is generally plenty of time, unless you're looking to drink the restaurant out of business :-)

Is the outdoor patio open on the weekdays for dinner?

There are no outdoor sitting at this restaurant.

Does it allow Dogs at the outside patio?

Sure does. Brought my pooch out there last week...

Do they have bottomless mimosas on the weekends?

Yes they do! But they do enforce a pretty strict 1 hour time window for bottomless mimosas

What Gluten-free options do they have?

Rice bowls with gluten-free sauce upon request, gim-bap, salads, and more

Are dogs allowed on the outside patio?

Yes! Totally dog friendly in the back patio. Tied our pitbull to the bench seating with us. They even brought her a bowl of water.

    Are there outdoor TVs?

    No outdoor TV

Are there dairy and or gluten free brunch options?

    Yes, but limited!

Anyone know what seasoning they use for their eggs and crispy yukon?

    Are walk ins accepted?

Yes! There are only walk-ins on weekends, and both walk-ins/reservations on the weekdays. If you do a walk-in on the weekend though for brunch, it can sometimes be a bit of a wait (~30+ min depending on how big your party is)

    Do they have vegan options?

    Yes!

Anyone know if it's better to go around 10-11am or 12-1pm for brunch? How long is the wait time usually on a Sunday?

It's usually around a 30-40 minute wait around then! :) I would go around 10AM or even earlier to miss the crazy Sunday brunch line.

What other liquor besides beer do you serve? Are there mimosas at brunch on Fridays?

They have a wide variety of cocktails that they serve for dinner including Moscow mules, whisky sours, and margs

Do they serve bottomless mimosas for dinner?

Yes, I just checked. They have bottomless mimosas at dinner for $20 per person for 1.5 hours. Hope this helped!

Their menu showed items like waffles and croissant French toast, which sounded really promising. I decided to try the croissant French toast and really wanted to like it. The croissant itself had potential, but the egg mixture was very heavy and lacked some of the warm flavors you typically expect in French toast, like cinnamon or vanilla. Even with the berries and syrup, it still leaned very egg-forward. I also ordered a side of bacon for some extra protein, and that was actually cooked really well. For drinks, I tried the strawberry latte with the vanilla bean soft top. I initially expected more of a coffee-forward drink, but it was much sweeter and reminded me more of an elevated strawberry milk. The space itself is cute and gives more of a social, aesthetic hangout vibe than a traditional brunch spot. Parking can also be a bit tricky. There's free parking in the Trader Joe's garage nearby, but it's unclear whether parking there while dining at the café is allowed. Overall, I liked the concept and atmosphere more than the actual food during this visit.

Overall I would come back here, probably right as the doors open to be guaranteed a place to seat and not have to wait and hope for a seat. Oh the music was on point!! Put it on your list, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Cold, military-style, and deeply disappointing farewell from Standard Fare…read more.. My wife and I have been going to Standard Fare for over a year. The food was always good, but the service was never particularly warm--polite, efficient, and impersonal, like a well-drilled operation. Today we took a twenty-minute ride with our six-week-old baby for one last visit before they close for good. We arrived before their advertised closing time, yet were coldly denied service. There was no one waiting behind us, but we were met with an inflexible, robotic "sorry, we're closed." No one was overtly rude, but the interaction felt rigid and mechanical, as if following procedure mattered more than acknowledging the people standing in front of them. It would not have taken much effort to accept one last order from a loyal couple with a newborn--especially since nobody else was waiting behind us. In the end, Standard Fare is closing exactly as it operated: precise, rigid, and lacking warmth. Hopefully the next business in this location will treat its customers with a bit more empathy.

Cali Alley is one of my go-to spots... I'm constantly trying to convince people to meet me there…read morefor lunch, or telling them to just DoorDash it because it's that good. It's also one of those places that makes you want to stay. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and generous. Every time I come here, I tell myself I'll pace myself... and every time I fail because it's just that good. The burgers are loaded and perfectly balanced, the fries are always crisp (never soggy, which is rare), and everything tastes high-quality and made to order. You have to try the chicken and waffles. The waffle batter tastes homemade and the butter takes it to another level... it's one of those dishes you keep thinking about after. I'll even DoorDash it all the way to Jingletown. The patio setup is really well done... there's a mix of larger tables for groups and higher bar-style seating for smaller hangs. The wooden furniture and cushioned benches make it comfortable, and they've got heaters for colder days and umbrellas when it's sunny, so you can usually pick your ideal spot. You order at the window and then just hang out while you wait... it's a relaxed flow and the food comes out pretty quickly. The staff are always kind and welcoming, and the whole place has a relaxed, homey vibe with really good music. Highly recommend... just come hungry.

Cali Alley is one of those places I have looked at thousands of times when trying to figure out…read morewhat to order on Door Dash or Uber Eats. The food always looked really good, but for whatever reason I always ended up ordering from somewhere else. Well, I finally did it. I finally ordered from Cali Alley, and all I have to say is, why did I wait so darn long? Door Dash was having a 2-for-1 deal on the Cali Alley Burger, so I ordered one of those (and got another for free) , as well as on the small mac and cheese, so I ended up with two of those as well. I got fries as he side for the burgers and saved the second burger and mac and cheese for the next day. I also bought a small side of veggie fried rice for lunch later in the week. OK, let's start with the fries ... wow. Super crispy. Don't know what they do to them, but I think I almost ate all the fries that came with one of the burgers before I even touched the burger. The fries seemed to have a coating like some fries do to make them extra crispy on the outside. Whatever it was, it made them so good, I couldn't stop eating them. I was almost too full for the burger. But who are we kidding? If there is one thing I am good at, it is eating more than I should. The burger, which is described on Door Dash as "char grilled, fresh ground brisket and short rib burger, served on a toasted brioche fun with crisp lettuce, tomato onion marmalade and garlic aioli" was thick and incredibly flavorful. I couldn't stop eating that, either. It was that good. I ordered it medium, and it was pretty pink, but it was sooooooo flavorful, and all the toppings worked well together. I didn't get any cheese on it because I wanted to try to burger by itself and not mask it with cheese. I might try adding cheese next time, but honestly the burger is so good, I almost wouldn't want to cover up its flavor with cheese. Oh, I almost forgot. When you order on Door Dash, you can opt to have them include a small side of their chocolate-chipotle bbq sauce, and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a really interesting flavor and is good for dipping the fries in. I didn't try putting it on the burger, but that might be good, too. The mac and cheese was OK. It's important to note that I enjoyed the flavor but it is more of an eggy consistency than a saucy mac and cheese if that makes sense. It has a nice kick of black pepper, which I liked, though. The vegetarian fried rice was also fine but could have used a little salt. All that to say, don't be like me and procrastinate, get the Cali Alley Burger and fries ASAP.
