My initial exam was good; however, I didn't think the tech got one eye correct. I was right. My initial trial of contacts was horrible since I couldn't see out one eye. I came to the follow up and had a good experience with Doc, but it went downhill quickly. I was ushered to a room to wait for OPTICS. I was the only person in the room. TEN MORE PEOPLE COME IN AND WERE SEEN! I WAITED 40 MINUTES WITHOUT ANY SERVICE!!! Another person came in and was immediately called to OPTICS. I got up to leave when I heard someone calling out "Miss." she asked if I was waiting on OPTICS. I said yes. Waited another 10 minute. My appointment was at 9:30. I walked out at 11:20 and never was called to OPTICS. Lastly, I received a call saying to stop by and pick up my remaining free contacts. I just wasted my lunch break because no one from OPTICS is there and the guy didn't have them at the front door and the people at the front desk are apparently clueless about the OPTICS station. SERIOUSLY GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. THE LEVEL OF INCOMPETENCE IS OUTRAGEOUS! read more

Thank you Berkeley team for reaching out and going above and beyond to help me. I'm so happy with my new contact and the fact I can see!! Your optical team is truly amazing. I didn't even have to come back in. They were able to review all my prior appointments and order the correct contact first time. When I came in for my contact check I decided to get me 2021 exam at the same time. So happy I give Berkeley another try! read more

I had Lasik surgery last month, best decision Ever! 20/20 vision right after surgery :) Thank you Jessica for getting me scheduled so promptly. Dr.Doe and Dr.Garret are truly amazing. read more

Berkeley eye center in Katy has a great office with great staff to match. Not typically what I would expect in a practice with multiple doctors. They're super nice and helpful whether in the office or on the phone trying to book appointments or ask questions. I have never had to wait much past my appt time either, which is a plus. I highly recommend them! read more

So.. I came for lasik and loved it!! Loved the place and the staff are all soo welcoming and sweet!!Denise is Awesome ! The doctors work as a team and I loved them all! My Lasik was a huge Sucess! And then we met a salesman named John in the eyeglass center . he was so awesome that we ended up bringing my husband in for an eye exam and getting some really awesome glasses from him he had such an awesome personality and he was so knowledgeable that we decided to get new glasses LOL for hubby ;) We will never go to another eye place hands down this is the best for customer service. read more

Great staff! Awesome facility! I saw Dr. Garrett. He was very welcoming and friendly. He explained everything really well and I felt so comfortable with him and the entire staff. I will definitely recommend this to my friends and co workers. The reason for the 4 stars was the front desk staff seemed a bit unorganized and under prepared. I was one of the first patients of the day, yet I was given no paperwork to fill out. I had to do it with the Dr. Not a big deal though. Things happen. All in all a great facility! read more

Terrible scheduling. For a 9:00 AM appointment for follow up after cataract surgery, more than an hour in the waiting room before being called back for the exam. They have no respect for your time. read more

I'm not an Ophthalmologist but I feel like I got a thorough eye exam and everyone was friendly, professional and accommodating. I'll be back. Also, My glasses Rx wasn't quite right and they are re-doing them with no questions or reluctance. read more

My family has been seeing Dr Bertrand for over 10 years and we love her. Her professionalism and knowledge always puts us at ease cause she truly has her patients best interest at heart. She's very personable and caring. She is why we keep returning to Berkley. However thse front office employees have a lot to be desired. I feel each need a class in customer service. Making this appt was a horrible experience dealing with rudeness and unwilling to accommodate us after we have been loyal customer/patients for so long. Dr. Bertrand, Sara, Kathy who checked us out, and the optical girls, Yvonne, are awesome in representing Berkeley. read more

My aunt had such a wonderful experience here and she has been raving on about it for a few weeks and has insisted that I write a wonderful review. The staff members were extremely attentive and even went out of their way to make this trip more cost efficient. She has promised that she will recommend this place to everyone she knows! read more

Great experience! I was helped by Amber and she was really great! I will definitely recommend this place!

Love the facility and the ease/process of office visit.

A friend recommened this place but there are no walk-ins for eye exam and I can't get an appointment for a month, what a big disappointment for me as I needed a new prescription. read more

This was my first time at a new eye doctor EVER. I've been going to Visionworks since before they were called Visionworks so I assumed that I could just walk into BEC and be seen. I realized that I was mistaken as soon as I walked in. It was like the galleria of eye doctor's offices! Very modern, very neat, very clean, and very spacious. Initially I was told by someone that the appointments are booked 30 days out and that I wouldn't be able to be seen. The actually receptionist interfered and said that she'd assist me. Once I was able to sit with her, she actually found a doctor who was available an hour later! While I waited to be seen, I shopped and the ladies that helped me were sublime! I have a fun, bubbly personality and they made it feel as though I was shopping with my girl friends rather than being at the eye doctor. I ACTUALLY had FUN while waiting. They were patient and very accommodating while I played dress-up. Once it was time to go back, the young lady who did the preliminary check was very pleasant and very professional. The doctor came in and was very professional and efficient as well. He was very young but very knowledgeable. I was very impressed with how fluid the whole process was and will definitely be making this my permanent home for my eye care needs. I HIGHLY recommend this location to anyone looking for a new home for these services. I'll get the names of the people who helped me and the doc's name and revise my review accordingly at a later time. read more

September 5, 2012 Berkely Eye Center 3100 Weslayan, Suite 400 Houston, Texas 77027 Attention: Mark Michelletti, Judy Norfleet, Dr. Michael B. Caplan I am writing to thank you over and over for making such a difference in the lives of your patients, as evidenced by my visit to your facility yesterday with my elderly father. Berkely's reputation "on the street" is wonderful, but when you experience it for yourself, it creates a feeling of inspiration that is so rare today.....I had to write a letter to you. To thank you for taking the time, the care, "going the extra mile", and not stopping until you found out what was going wrong with my father's eyes. Since 2007 we have been to eight doctors.....ophthalmologists and optometrists both....and good doctors! With the exact same results, or variations of the exact same result each time which ended in purchasing glasses that not only didn't work, they made my Dad's life absolutely miserable. He couldn't see except for close up, his driving (and therefore his independence) had virtually ceased, and we were grieving for him as a family to watch this vital, intelligent man subjected to a lifestyle change that was breaking his spirit and appetite for life. And all we could do was watch it take place, helpless to find the answer for him, doctor after doctor. We had absolutely, positively........given up. Until we met Dr. Caplan and Dr. Garza at your clinic yesterday. I could go on and on about how they treated my father with compassion, their incredible intelligence and bedside manner, the professionalism and kindness of your staff, your state-of-the-art equipment and facility, how we didn't feel "rushed" through the system although I know that it cut into everyone's schedule for the day to be sure that my father's condition was properly diagnosed, how obviously well organized and managed your office is...... do you want me to keep going? : ) You will never know until you can feel the weight lifted from your shoulders, to see someone you love have hope again for the first time in 6 years, what it feels like to experience that joy. Please don't forget that, as you go about your day today and in the days to come. It is so easy for all of us to get caught up in what we do for a living, not always realizing how deeply we are touching someone's life by doing it. You certainly touched ours, and I can't say thanks enough to you, nor can I properly express what a difference you made for our lives. Warmest Regards, Teresa A. Brown (on behalf of Glenn F. Brown) read more

I had a great experience at Berkley Eye Center! Scheduling an appointment was easy and the receptionists were friendly. I was called back for my appointment at my scheduled time which is always a plus. I saw Dr. Bertrand and she definitely spent less time with me than my previous ophthalmologist, but she seemed thorough. Overall, the staff was nice, but the ladies at the optical shop really shined. I'm confident I got a pair of frames that look great on me because she really spent a lot of time with me and I tried on a ton of different styles! The selection was great; they had most of the major designers/brands I was interested in (Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Ray Ban, etc.) read more

Convenient location and nice building. My family has been going to Dr. Garrett for several years. He is very knowledgeable, personable, and I trust him for our vision care. The girl at the front desk who checks you in could be friendlier but overall I would recommend. read more

I was tired of straining my eyes and wearing glasses so I decided to get Lasik. Been going here for years, but they have outgrown themselves. The only people in the front of the office who actually have maintained the level of care, are the ladies at the checkout (who have been with BEC for years). While having an in-house glasses and contacts center is great, the staff is unreliable. Some are great; some are awful. Your office visit will take the entire morning or entire afternoon even for a checkup that you book a year in advance. You can never get out in under 2-3 hours, so pack a lunch! The doctors are good, but the entire experience is so much more of a headache than it should be. read more

Loving my life after Lasik! Dr. Garrett and Dr. Doe were great. Staff was for the most part friendly. Facility is very clean. The staff was very thorough in explaining the procedure to me. Prices are fair! read more

I haven't been to an Optometrist since 1997 when the Marine Corps made sure I could see a target and aim at it correctly. So after a few years of taking my wife to the Berkeley Eye Center, it finally hit me, that I am also on the insurance and should get checked out even though I can see just fine. When I arrived at the front desk, I was greeted with a smile and the young lady was very polite. I forgot to complete the required documentation online, but no biggie, completing them there didn't take long and I was still seen at my designated appointment time. When being called back I was once again greeted with a smile and spoken to in a polite, but confident manner. There was an assistant in training that seemed to already know how to preform her duties so it didn't slow down the process. After a quick wait to see Dr. Bertrand, whom seemed very knowledgeable, she explained everything in a clear concise manner regarding my vision. Lastly I was seen by Optician Christina who seemed to enjoy her job and was very good at it. She picked a few frames off the bat that were exactly my style and I hadn't even said a word. So overall, for someone who is not fond of medical visits and hadn't seen an eye doctor in almost two decades, I was extremely pleased with my visit to this professional office. Thank you all at Berkeley Eye Center, see you next year. read more

I'm a client at Berkeley and have had LASIK 21 months ago. I've had an enhancement 3 months ago to get things where I would like them to be and they staff has been very professional. They've been very open with their communication so I know what to expect today, tomorrow, and months down the road. They are also willing to continue to make adjustments so that I'm happy with the results. My wife had LASIK there several years ago and my dad recently had the same surgery there. I would recommend them to anyone looking for LASIK surgery. read more

Highly recommend this group! I have been seeing Dr. Doe for several years at the previous location. I had an 8:45 appointment with Dr. Garrett, Dr. Doe was booked up for a couple of months, so you may have to wait to see Dr. Doe. I got to the office a little after 8:30 was signed in right away and was out of the office payment completed prescription in hand in less than one hour. From the front desk sign in, to Dr. Garrett's assistant, to the lady at check out, everyone was so very professional and so kind and it was just a wonderful experience. read more

I have had numerous encounters with this clinic to include comprehensive eye exams and retinal specialist. The best part of the clinic is the optical center. They have a fantastic staffs and the entire clinic is very upbeat. They always have good music playing. Awesome service as always and super friendly staff!!! Also, the new digs make for a relaxing atmosphere.

Wait time was not long, which was great. Doctor was very nice but I cannot say the same for the staff. The assistant was not very friendly and acted like she did not want to be there. If fact, she looked very bored. She was playing with the ends of her hair while I was reading the eye charts. After the exam, I was walked over to the optical shop. The technician that helped me seemed disinterested. Why would I want to spend my money (the prices are not cheap. My total just for glasses was over $900. Thank goodness for insurance) at a place that seems to not want business? I should have left but did not. Next time, I will know. read more

Worst customer service that I've experienced at an eye care center. I have been trying to get my eyeglass prescription corrected for over a month. I was basically told that I can take my business elsewhere...I definitely will. I only changed providers because my provider did not accept my change in insurance. I will pay out of pocket to go to my former provider who gets my glasses correct and gives great customer service! read more

Ms. Monique Garcia and Ms. Connie in the optical/contacts department are awesome!! They are both extremely helpful, go the extra mile, and very professional all at the same time. They have treated me with nothing but respect and kindness each and every time I have had to come in to the clinic. These two ladies make an amazing team and I'm so happy to be working with them on my vision journey! read more

I am beyond pleased with the experience I've had with BEC. From the scheduling to the procedure all went incredibly smoothly. Dr. Garret informed me exactly what my options were and where I could expect to be. Dr. Doe did the procedure and it went extremely smooth, painless, and quickly. The bedside manner of these doctors is also excellent. They made me feel more like a family member than just a patient. After only 5 hours I was able to see clearly enough to drive the the store. The day after I was at 20-20, and expect nothing but improvement in the next month. I would definitely recommend BEC to anyone considering LASIK. read more

I came in today with my special needs nephew to get his annual exam. After 2 hours the office determine they could not work with him because he was hyper active so they gave me a referral to go elsewhere. The referral was written on a yellow post it note - name and phone number only. I did not receive no formal referral form like I am used to getting when offices try to pass him on so someone else deals with him. The location they referred me to is 45 minutes away from where I live. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called. They will not be able to see him until December 2017 - 5 months from now. What a great reference huh! read more
