Driving past this building on a road trip you would never think to stop but don't let this restaurants humble front fool you, Berardi's is the definition of American dining. The first thing that caught my attention when I walked in here was how clean the bathrooms were, this was the positive mental stimulation that would carry out through the entire experience. I was with 5 other people and we all chose a different dish. Below we got 1 - Home Fry Heaven with Toast 2 - Home Fry Heaven with Biscuits 3 - Fried Perch Sandwich 4 - Berardi's HomeMade Lasagna 5 - Fried Haddock Sandwich And me, I ordered the HITT standard measure of quality meal, The Reuben. Everything.... (after sampling everyone and seein there faces) was-un-be-liev-able. The Lasagna looked like it hopped right off a doctored advertisement for Lasagna. The Fishs were cooked to perfection, the breakfast was made with love and my Reuben rivaled any Reuben I've ever had. While we waited they brought us warm rolls with butter and our soup, YEZ, the SOUP! We got Seafood Bisque that was so good you'd of thought we were dining on the coast of Maine! Everything else from the homemade sweet tea down to the lemon itself was prepared with obvious thought of the customers satisfaction in mind. Our server Judy did everything to accommodate our every need and even made highly accurate opinions of the food we were thinking of ordering before we ordered it. Her own passion for the establishment obviously showed and this is a rare server quality that just takes your own appreciation over the top. Afterwards while checking out I got to speak with the manager Chris who helped me tie my curiosities together informing me 90% of the food is fresh made in house. He also explained to me that produce is locally farmed as well as the proteins!! The whole time before he told me that, as I was eating I thought to myself, this is too fresh to be frozen. I would of payed double for the same meal here. This is not just an enthusiastic review because I was hungry. As an Elite Yelper, I've experienced a wide variety of experiences and this, if I had a top 20 places ever, is high on the list. It's truly a place worth a road trip just to eat at. My wife and I have had the pleasure of going to Berardi's for many years. We are treated like family and time after time receive a very good meal at a very good price. Chris frequently comes to the table to say hello. The wait staff are always pleasant, cheerful and more than willing to be of help with any problems. What else can I ask for? Well, they also have a trivia question which changes every day. If you guess it right, you get a free cookie. All those years learning History, Geography and Science are finally paying off! You can't go wrong with anything at Berardi's. We ordered takeout here a week or so ago and had a wonderful meal. The food was flavorful and well packed together for take out. Oh my gosh, this place is amazing. I have been here many times in consistently it is great. Stop by today with a girlfriend, and the food was yummy. I had the fruit and nut salad, and a side of the steamed broccoli. The broccoli is always amazing! How could you think broccoli is so good? But they do it just perfectly so it's not hard or soft it's just good. We shared an order of the bruschetta, so delicious. My friend had the haddock and she loved it. Every time we have been here the food has been so good. And the service is always right on point. If you have never been here, you should get up right this moment and go. Just in town for the day and we found this jem on Yelp. They have a great selection. Everything from pasta to burgers; definitely something for everyone! We visited after lunch time but there was still a full dining room. We did not have to wait. The food came out of the kitchen in good time. Our party of six was very happy with each selection. The fries were awesome; large streak fries. We also had a couple pasta dishes and they were great too! Next time we're oon town we will be back!! Classic Family Restaurant and one of the best. Not a Mishelin 3 star, no waiters with tux or embroidered tablecloths with matching Irish linen napkins, but dam good tasty food. Wife and I were passing through - sourkraut balls with cheese centers homemade (hard to do without falling appart) pie crust -- the best of any resturant, and seafood bisque with loads of clams lobster and shrimp - a meal in it self. Plus to make more enjoyable they had happy swift waitresses with a big smile. Good job. read more

Had not been to Berardi's in awhile and was VERY disappointed! We ordered the Potato Knoephle soup that has been a soup they have made for many, many years. It was NOT good. 1st of all, it looked liked a cup of coffee with creamer in it. And tasted strongly of beef broth. It is advertised as being made with chicken broth. Upon inquiring, we were told they added "yellow dye to lighten the color and also they weren't able to get all the ingredients to make it". Well, if they would have used the chicken broth, they wouldn't have needed to " lighten the color" and it would have tasted much better! It had the noodles, onions, and potatoes in it but just a bad tasting soup. We also ordered the Berardi burger, an all time favorite. It was good but definitely a much smaller version of what they used to serve. Of course the meal was served with Berardi fries and you do get a large portion of those......maybe to try and make up for the shrinkage of the burger. Not a good dining experience and has definitely moved to the bottom of our list for good places to eat in Huron!! read more

My husband and I were visiting from out of town, and decided to choose this particular restaurant, because it looked like this was the place where the locals would go. We did have to wait about 30 minutes for our table, but the place really is kind of tiny, A true hole in the wall location, even though it is a freestanding building. It did not disappoint! We ordered the lasagna, and it was served steaming hot, and excellent flavor! Had no room for dessert, altho they had a lot from which to choose. That being said when i want the best rueben ive ever had, from here to florida to california.. i think of no other spot than Berardis. Paired with their famous fries and an extra side of thousand island! It'll make emerald say Bam and guy fieri's hair immediately catch ablaze. This was just "ok" for us. My husband had the veggie omelet and I had the quinoa breakfast. We both chose fruit and were disappointed that most of the melon was under-ripe. My plate had a few slices of avocado that were not ripe...hard as a rock. The quinoa patties were interesting and decent, maybe a bit salty. Used to love this place, after today's visit, they will not be receiving any of my families business ever again. To start it off they only serve some specialty soda now, which would be fine, if they still served coke or Pepsi as well. My slaw and roll came out, my roll was so hard, I thought about donating it to the local baseball team. The slaw was not the normal, tasted way off and was not that great. I ordered the fish and clam special, the fish was a little over done, quite chewy, the clams had good taste, but could have been used as rubber bands. Overall, very disappointed with berardis lately. We found this place by searching for "gluten-free" on Yelp while staying at Kalahari. Beware, if you have other allergies, like we do (peanut/tree nuts): Berardi's cooks nearly everything in or around peanut oil! From what I could gather, the restaurant's claim to fame is that their french fry recipe was originally sold at Cedar Point. Presumably the peanut oil was an important part of that, and the rest of the menu was based around the peanut oil to some extent. I'm sure the fries are delicious, though. The gluten-free options were mostly the standard choices like steaks and other things that just don't have gluten naturally. I don't think they had anything like buns or pasta that were gluten-free. In order to eat as quickly as possible so our peanut allergy boy could stop at McDonald's on the way back, I only ordered a salad. The avocado on top didn't seem particularly fresh, but the salad was okay overall. Somewhat amusing was that the manager (owner?) acknowledged me after we walked in and said he'd try to get us seated in about 5 minutes because it was crowded (not full) and he wanted to give his wait staff a bit of time to catch their breath. That's admirable, but it struck me as odd that we wouldn't wait for them to catch up while sitting at the booth that looked to be already prepped. Not a big deal, he did get us seated pretty quickly. I love visiting this restaurant when we go to Huron. It's just a downright​ classic family establishment that takes pride in everything they serve. When my husband and I go to Huron, it's always for two things - the lake and fish. Berardi's has the best perch and walleye​ dinners. The fish is lightly breaded and full of juicy meat on the inside. But, don't stuff yourself too much on the pre-dinner rolls, because the best part about dinner at Berardi's is the after dinner treat --- pie! Oh my, let's talk about their pies. Out waitress was very nice and refilled our ice tea glasses quickly (we were putting it down as we had been hiking nearby). Save room for dessert the banana cream pie is delicious. A great find to say the least. We were in Huron on buisness (sadly not cedar point) and hit this for lunch. Fries are great, and the seafood bisque was super good. I had the chicken parm and thought the breading on the chicken was a bit much but it didn't stop me from cleaning my plate. The home made peach pie was also great. Place was clean, our server was on top of her game and the prices were really reasonable given the food quality. I will be sure to go here when we head up to Cedar Point. read more

Came here after jet skiing at the Huron marina. Very nice decor. We had 4 people in our party. We had a perch sandwich, fried clams, pierogis, and salmon salad. It all came out very quickly and looked great. I had the clams which were tender and not chewy. Tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were very tasty. Everyone else said their food was tasty. read more

So we're out of towners and stopped here for dinner based solely on the Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. The decor and building are unassuming, but the food is homemade, fresh, flavorful, and generous! My husband said the chicken parmesan was the best he's ever had, the chipotle burger was a huge hit with my teenage son, and the mile high meatloaf....wow. Not sure what I'd think of a barbecue brown gravy on it, but it was the perfect amount of savory and tangy. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. One of my favorites when I travel to this area. The seafood Bisque is the best. Also the Perogies. For something sweet I will often have their Cheesecake Pecan Pie. It is literally amazing. Not too rich, not too sweet, delightfully delicious. Everyone has always been friendly there also, never a grumpy one.
