This is inside Kalahari Waterpark. Straight back on the left side once you walk into the front doors. Mojito 0/10 Ordered a regular mojito. It came to the table with no mint, and I was told it's a mojito mix that they use. It was disgusting. Garlic bread 4/10 Frozen Texas toast, but no garlic. Just tastes like plain toasted bread. Italian Trio 9/10 - House made Meatballs 8/10 pretty good. Lot of sausage in the mixture. - Tomato Bruschetta 9/10 good, except the raw garlic was weird. Roasted would be better. - Sausage & Peppers 10/10 good. Mild. Juicy. Stuffed shells 9/10 The shells were cooked good. Strong sausage flavor, but good. Didn't taste much cheese, and the spinach was good but the flavor of it doesn't come through a ton. The vodka sauce with them was really good, and tons of mozzarella on top. Steak Mediterranean 8/10 Medium rare beef tenderloin tips. Cooked perfect. Sauce was really good. Noodles were cooked good. Again, tons of raw garlic, it definitely needed to be sautéed or roasted (that would make it a 10/10). I liked that they put the noodles and the steak on separate plates. To start off, any other visit to this restaurant would have gotten 5 stars, hands down. Unfortunately, I can only give 3 this time. We have been coming here for about 5 years now on our yearly vacation for a music festival and to celebrate our birthdays. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very clean. We get the same meals every time. Chicken Parm and chicken Marsala. His chicken parm was amazing! My Marsala, I hate to say was so very dry. It took forever to chew it. Filled up to-go box, they definitely give big portions! I just heated some up for lunch, and found a hair in the chicken, which didn't belong to either of us. Very disappointing. When making the reservation, I mentioned about our birthdays. In years before they would come and sing. But not this year. Which is okay, not like we paid for that. The main reason it gets 3 stars is for sure our server Maddie (Madison). She was awesome! So attentive and on the spot. Someone give her a raise!!!! Needless to say, we will be back again next year and hopefully will have the experience that we are used to. read more

I was happy to go to Sortino's at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky. My girlfriend and I shared a half pizza with Italian Meats and Margarita Pizza. It was delicious and filling with a Diet Pepsi while she had water. When I come back to Sortino's, I will get the 100 layer Lasagna. Great service from Ally and Jonah who took great care of us. When you go to a resort the odds of finding good value on dining options is quite low. I came to Kalahari with my family to celebrate my son's birthday for the weekend. I needed to find a place in the hotel that could satisfy the needs of my wife, kids and in-laws. Sortino's came recommended by many people and the reviews seemed okay online. On top of that Italian food is fairly accessible so I figured it would be a safe bet. I ordered a myriad of dishes as you can see pictured. The ravioli and fettuccine were in the mid $20 range and the steak Mediterranean was almost $40. The food was very expensive, and I did not feel like the portions justified it because the quality was essentially on par with Olive Garden. The Caesar salad was very boring, and the fettuccine had only 5 pieces of shrimp. I wasn't all too surprised that the food was going to be this bland, but at the very least it did get the job done and made my family happy in the moment. If you're looking for a higher quality meal I suggest going somewhere outside the resort. read more

The food here was excellent. The love dip was a great starter and tasted delicious. The bread is different than most but it was delicious as well. I had the chicken Parmesan. It was absolutely huge and so flavorful. I loved the breading on the chicken and it all paired so well together. Definitely a great place to stop if you are wanting Italian. read more

Whew where do I start, the Love dip was such a great starter and only $3 I thought it was a steal, so tasty and perfect with the warm homemade rosemary bread. My kids decided they just wanted spaghetti and not the meatball it came with so my husband and I asked for the meatballs and OMG they were so moist, tasty and HUGE! I am a bit picky with Italian food (born and raised on Long Island, NY) and this sauce was DELICIOUS, perfectly balanced. My husband and I both had the chicken parmigiana and it was massive, perfectly cooked and cheesy- so so so good- I honestly wish we were there longer so we could have eaten there again! This place, inside Kalahari was actually quite good. More upscale then I thought for an indoor water park. I expected Olive Garden, but it did exceed. Overall service was great as well. Italian Wedding soup was soooo salty, too much I couldn't finish. Fat Guido's Sausage Stuffed Banana Peppers - about 4-5 peppers and could have been a meal and is an appetizer. Was actually spicy, so think this is a good item to share with a table. Kids Pizza was solid but $9, they also enjoyed the chicken tenders and butter noodles. They knocked mine out of the park and exceed expectation with Seafood Al Diavolo - with spicy tomato sauce clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari and pasta was a LARGE bowl and quite good. Table also had bread with dipping oil which everyone enjoyed. Wine by the bottle was reasonable, I think there was a special that night. And (we didn't have room for) cannoli, maybe made for you tableside? not sure. There were shells and toppings so I assumed. Recommend a reservation no matter your party size -opentable I believe. For a group of 8-10 they have a table with the face of "The Godfather", but I think you have to request. read more

Everything tasted like frozen and microwaved food, from the pastas, to the appetizers, to kids pizzas that were literally burnt in the bottom! The service was mediocre, the guy dumped wine in our glasses like water making them "even Steven"! Everything at Sortino's was nothing short of amazing. The cocktails... don't even get me started. My rosemary lemon drop was fantastic, best I have ever had. My boyfriend's old fashioned was so good. Anthony the waiter was phenomenal and so spunky. He really made the whole experience perfect. The restaurant itself is so pretty and classy. The food was to die for. This place is expensive yes but you're in a tourist place. The food however is delicious. I loved the bread and olive oil that they bring to your table and I thought my pasta was good which was the lemon chicken but my boyfriends chicken parm was def bomb. This restaurant is located inside Kalahari Waterpark. Very odd, I admit, BUT...trust me when I tell you the food is delectable! We had the chicken Parmesan, Eggplant Parmesan & Uncle Vinny's Sausage & Peppers. Everyone absolutely loved their dinner choice. We also were served a warm loaf of bread w/cloves of garlic, butter & an oil dipping sauce. The only "complaint", which wasn't an actual complaint was that if you wanted a side salad, it was an additional charge. I should have taken photos, but didn't think of it until we got home. This spot which is located inside of the Kalahari is just okay. I would've given a two star, but our server was fantastic! To start off I ordered at Sortino's Pinot Grigio wine, which was $9 a glass. It definitely tasted like barefoot wine with their name slapped onto it. Next for our first course we decided to order their fried calamari which was alright. Nothing to rave about. Our main course we got a chicken Parmesan and a shrimp scampi. The chicken Parmesan was just alright as well. As for the shrimp scampi, for $29 I'm very disappointed. I almost mistook it as a shrimp soup. The shrimp was also just thawed from a frozen bag of precook shrimp for sure. The sauce barely had any flavor. Needless to say, I may be back again to try so different dishes, but I would definitely try something other than the shrimp scampi. Service was great though! read more

CEDAR POINT goers BEWARE. This is not the Sortino's you know and remember, and if you're like us, loved. Loved so much we considered it another Cedar Point attraction. A thrill ride of pink celery seed dressing, properly cooked pasta, gag pictures in the bathrooms, and over the top mafia references. It's gone. It's a BS corporate chain joint with no ambiance, none of the warm welcoming atmosphere and $20 cocktails. We were so looking forward to our dinner after two years away from Cedar Point and instantly started questioning why the GPS was taking us somewhere else. We began questioning our sanity. When it was clear we were going in the "wrong" direction, I started blaming my GF for making reservations at the wrong Italian restaurant. She kept insisting she looked at the menu and it was the same food. We finally realized they had moved. It's inside of some cheese ball resort. No signage outside. We drove around and around until finally GF called and asked where exactly it was. It's inside the hotel. It's soulless. It was nearly empty. It's overpriced. And the celery seed dressing is relegated to an asterisk at the bottom of the menu. Only reason this isn't one star-- the waitress was very courteous and friendly. Screw this place. I was really shocked to see any negative reviews for this place . Hidden gem in kalahari! The ambience is really nice as good as any Italian place not usually expected at a resort . The espresso martini and margarita Italiano were delicious . My husband also enjoyed his beer . I got the chicken Parmesan and my husband got the steak and they were both absolutely delicious and very big portions . Kids meal was decently priced and the other items were as well. Not cheap but normal for the portions and type of restaurant. We got complimentary warm bread and olive oil which was also really good and fresh . Our waiter was excellent too! Again I can't believe some of the complaints about food I saw on here . We are foodies and we have Been to many high end restaurants and this is really great. We come to Kalahari every year. Food was ok, but was better when they first opened. We arrived for our reservation with 5 minutes to spare. We were told we were early and they needed to sit another party first. Ok. They sat that party. Then another large group whose reservation wasn't for 17 minutes was seated. When I asked the hostess, she told us she was doing her best and could maybe sit us now (with 2 minutes to spare) the whole interaction was rude and we won't return. This restaurant is an overpriced insult. Italian movie stereotypes overwhelm the lazy menu that charges 5 times more than most authentic Italian restaurants. The food was not good. The portions were okay, though the meatballs and garlic bread were giant. Only reason they are getting one star is because of the staff (and the app won't let you leave a zero star review). Amanda our server was great and the kitchen staff was very quick with the meals. However, our family will never be returning to eat here. I enjoy spicy foods but when it comes to Italian food, only select dishes should be spicy. Garlic bread-spicy (literally the bread). Marinara sauce-spicy. Meatball-spicy. I was completely surprised that the fettuccine alfredo was not spicy. The dinner bread came out cold and the dipping oil was full of a mound of parmesan cheese. On a positive note, the water was really good. By far the worst Italian restaurant we've ever been to. Very disappointed, especially for the price. Loved the food and the waitress Amanda. She was great even with our two young children! I got the pasta mafia which was cooked to perfection and the steak was delicious. We usually go to the original Sortino's and absolutely sad that they closed it. Miss the buzzer in the basement. We're staying at Kalahari and excited about having it on location. They did an incredible job on transferring the menu and recipes to the new location. Service was incredible and Chelsea was very informative on the changes on the menu. read more

Unfortunately, Sortino's sold out to Kalahari Resort/Waterpark. They used to be a real gem of an old school Italian/Sicialian restaurant. First, the parking is awful since it's in the resort. They rushed our meal. They no longer serve the Sicilian love oil with the bread.... Ergo can't bring jars of it home either. The hacked their menu up, jacked their prices up to 20-30+ for entrees. No more lake perch. No one that works there even knows about their prior location. Sauce was not cooked with pasta water, so it wasn't emulsified and thick... it was all watery garbage with clumps of coagulated Parmesan floating in it. Oh, and no pasta with veal, have to order a side of spaghetti marinara which doesn't go with lemon capers.... Wtf???? I was so looking forward to coming here on our annual trip, but sadly the changes are too much... won't be coming back. I'm sure the resort people will just take this over Americanized shame if it's former self like they accept Olive Garden and Fazolis... also the bread was cold and for some weird reason cut into cubes, which were stale.... Oh and a bourbon is 14 freaking dollars.... Total overpriced canned corporate garbage. read more
