Vine & Olive, a specialty food experience featuring prepared foods and imported products from the Mediterranean. I usually visit on Mondays for the five dollar Gyro. The Gyro salad is also amazing. In fact, I have never been disappointed in anything prepared here. The selection of baked goods is amazing. The wine selection is also outstanding. ( Now for the other side of the story). Going back to the time when I was born (in Ireland, but this story began in another part of Europe) In the 1950's outside of Athens, Greece when a family traveled from there to the United States in search of a better life. The mother found comfort in a foreign land while working as a baker, hand-making the recipes she brought with her. She passed these recipes on, with love. Another begins in the 1980's on the Italian island of Sardinia when a young man in the U.S. Navy, met a local girl & brought her back to the United States to raise their family. She keeps in touch with her family & her homeland by importing the food products she grew up loving. Their stories eventually intertwine through a marriage. They bring these tastes of the Mediterranean & tlove of these foods to our community on the north coast of Lake Erie. Join in the experience! read more

I don't like being ripped off! I've had gyro's from here in the past and they're quite tasty. On Monday's they offer them for $5. So I called to place an order for pickup, 2 with double meat for me and 1 regular. It doesn't even occur to me until I get home and look at the receipt I was ripped off. The woman on the phone or the guy who rang me up either one could have mentioned something but WHY WOULD I PAY MORE FOR JUST DOUBLE MEAT THAN AN ACTUAL GYRO!? For one the double meat used to be like $2 but why on earth would someone just want to pay more for double meat when they could just buy another one and clean out the wrap into the other!? So I went back. Sadly the staff was even more standoffish. I felt glared at the entire time that I was inside the store. So much so that I stopped shopping before I had found what I actually went there to get. I did get the gyro and can report that it is still a sad mess. Go to Arby's where the staff at least. pretends to be friendly and the gyro isn't a dry, flavorless, loaf of disappointment. It is as if they have somehow channeled the negative energy from the staff to the food. Every bite was full of angsty vitreol. Bleah. I will likely try again in a year or two to see if I can do some shopping and support a local business. For now though, Amazon will have my items here the day after tomorrow. I go here when I am feeling like dessert. They sell by the slice different selections of cheesecake, cakes, cookies, they also have some vegan desserts as well. They have chocolate bombs which are every bit of delicious. Although each piece of cake or cheesecake is 5 to 6 dollars which is comparable to what you would pay at a restaurant, maybe a little less than at a restaurant. The desserts are delicious. The store has lots of great interesting finds to suit everyone. The prices are a little high. They have hot food and can have a sandwich made. I saw one time they were having a wine and chocolate tasting event. It's definitely worth a stop to check out what they have. Unique foods and gifts, definitely have to try one of their desserts. This place is AWESOME. Happened to be in town to go to Cedar Point and we were staying at an Airbnb with a nice kitchen, so we went into town for supplies. I was so surprised and happy that we wandered in here after seeing it on the side of the road. Not only do they have an excellent selection of wine, their beer and liquor choices are great too. But the real place to get lost is the oil and vinegar section. This area RULES. Absolutely delicious offerings. My favorite is the strawberry vinegar. It's got some body to it and really has a wonderful flavor. (In fact, this review was inspired by the fact that I made a vinaigrette with it tonight for a salad and absolutely loved it.) Sample some flavors, remember that vinegars can make great spritzers during the summer! The grocery was great too. Imported snacks, fresh baked goods, gelato... The pasta selection is LEGIT. Gluten free gyros, flat bread and more. A bit of heaven among the food chains in Sandusky. My hard to please mother loved her chicken gyro and my gluten free lamb gyro was great. The Greek salad was a little too salted, they need to wash the olives maybe but it was still good. They serve as a restaurant; sit down or take out, specialty store and wine shop. Okay, this review is going to be a roller coaster ride. Mostly highs, with a few lows, ultimately coming back high again. LOL. Bear with me. I was in town for a convention at the Kalahari recently, and found Vine & Olive one afternoon. I LOVE the concept. The olive oil samples, the deli in the back, the awesome dessert counters, the wine bar... I could've stayed here for days. The have several tables as well, where you can dine and hang out. So, later that day I brought a group of probably a dozen fellow convention attendees with me back for dinner. I figured we would have some wine, a Charcuterie plate with meat and cheese ... a real kind of Mediterranean Diet kind of thing. BUT, as nice as the mangers and everyone was in Vine & Olive, NO one seemed to know what a Charcuterie Plate was, or consisted of. "Charcu-what?" I was shocked. I seriously had to educate them, hand choosing the cheeses and meats I wanted. That being said, we had an awesome time, and once I hand designed my Charcuterie Plate, a great meal. Please, Vine & Olive, learn about Charcuterie Plates and Boards. It will help you, as it is right in your wheelhouse. IF I'm back in Sandusky ever, I'll be sure to come here again. read more

Love the variety of olive oil and vinegar! The gyro is also very tasty. I wish a bottle of vinegar wasn't so expensive, however. I realize it is good quality, but I don't go as often as I use the product because it's expensive. Lots of quality variety and the staff are friendly and very helpful. read more

They have a lot of fun offerings that the normal grocery stores around here don't have (unique desserts, wines and meads, olives and oils, etc). I agree with a previous posting that it doesn't have the greatest gyro I've ever had; ''twas only ok, but I stand by my 5 star rating because they offer loads of other treats that are worth visiting for. Stopped here while visiting cedar points the desserts are absolutely sinful!! The selection was huge so we took a little bit off everything back tot he room. Really great store and deli. Friendly folks, great atmosphere, happy employees. They have lots of exotic foods here, many are Italian or Mediterranean. There is a wide variety of nuts, pastas, cheeses, wines, olives. Huge dessert case, cookies, cakes, baklava. Fresh brewed espresso, machiatto, mocha, coffee. The deli case in the back is my favorite part. Gyros, Greek hot foods, hummus, taboullie, Greek salad. Make sure you try the ginger carrots, really delicious and original. read more

What a GEM! I "discovered" this place when stopping in Sandusky to kill some time. This place is awesome! A great selection of wines, complimentary sample cheeses and meats, wonderful hospitality and a grill ! You can't beat it. I had the chicken gyro and baklava-all delicious! Was staying at Great Wolf lodge with the family. This place is very close less than 5 min drive. We got soups, gyros, sandwiches and food was hot fresh and delicious. They prepare food to order and you can do carry out or there is a nice area to eat in. Lot of dessert and sweets as well. Found them on yelp so leaving a review for future guests. read more

This place was a very pleasant surprise when we ventured out of a nearby water park for dinner. Incredibly delicious sandwiches, flaky spanakopita, imported Italian soda (we had been craving chinotto for three years), and a huge pastry case full of unique, freshly made cakes/cookies/cannoli. Not to mention the massive grocery section, which we used to stock up our hotel room. Everything was so reasonably priced--I think we made it out of there for $80, and it felt like a crazy bargain. The owner greeted us warmly at the door, and offered to introduce us to all the goodness this place has to offer. Great selection, open space, and fantastic prices. What most stuck with me about the experience, though, is the extremely helpful staff. The woman taking our order was patient as we navigated the menu in slow-motion. The young people making our lunches asked us about specific details to customize each of our orders. And the woman at the bakery counter was more than willing to give us a tour of each delicacy. If your hungry and need to grab a sandwich avoid this place if all possible. There are many fast restaurants that are serving up frozen foods I thought this place would be different! It looks very nice inside NYC soho feel. But the food was bland and most of the items are Frozen. I ordered the sirloin steak and requested it medium then the employee indicated that it is already pre made and we just heated up. But in all fairness maybe it's just the area there's many tourist that come through here. So finding a good restaurant will be hard. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN, the staff clearly doesn't want families here! I can NOT believe how rude the lady at the wine bar was tonight. We have been here several times, today was the first time we brought our children in and the experience was night and day. They glared at our children as if they were hostile aliens. All I wanted was to have a few questions answered about a bottle of wine, but apparently the reserved party was more important and I was literally asked to step aside!
