Don't let the old strip mall behind it fool you; this place is a true hidden gem for great brick-oven fired pizza. On the outside it looks like it's in an old Denny's. But when you walk in immediately see the pizza oven with its fire and contents. There is also a full bar (huge beer list with some on tap, too) and plenty of seating. My boyfriend and I were in town to go to Cedar Point and we were really craving pizza. Whenever we travel we like to try someplace new to us. Brick Oven Bistro didn't open until 4pm and we were craving lunch/dinner around 230 so we killed time until they opened. So worth it!!!! I ordered the Italian stallion personal pizza and my boyfriend got a build your own calzone. DELICIOUS. I will be thinking about that pizza every day until I go back! We had a really lovely time at the brick oven bistro for dinner tonight! We came around 6:30 and it wasn't too busy so we were able to be seated right away. Our server, Dwayne, was so fun and made our meal even better by his quick quit And personable nature. I ordered the buffalo chicken pizza without onions or banana peppers and my nephew ordered the Italian stallion. My pizza was so delicious! I love the three cheeses that they use for all of their pizzas, *cue the cheese stretching reel*. It was the perfect balance of buffalo sauce and ranch dressing, I was originally concerned that the ranch dressing would be too overpowering, but it was phenomenal. I wish there would've been a little bit more chicken, but overall the pizza was great! My nephew also really loved his Italian stallion And we ended up finishing both of our pizzas! Whilst traveling to Sandusky I was able to discover this location. I discovered online that they had vegan cheese options. When traveling often it is hard to find vegan options last minute at night. The staff were very friendly and accommodating the chef noted that they use a soy based butter for many of their pizzas and he asked if I would like it. I have to say that there was ample parking around the establishment with handicap accessible parking immediately out front. I really enjoyed the vegan calzone however the size for the personal was extremely small and I expected something slightly larger. Overall I'll definitely check out this location again however I wish they offered plant-based/vegan meat to place in some of their dishes. read more

So get this ... I have never been there, but they have good reviews so I decided I wanted to try a pizza. I called, and this is what I heard in a very shrill voice: "WE ARE NOT TAKING ANY CARRY OUT ORDERS!" I said "Pardon me?" Came in after being at Cedar Point for the day. Got seated immediately and the restaurant did not look too busy at all. Asked if they had any deals for a birthday, and was told we could get any one dessert free. Got drinks and appetizers quickly, but our main entrees took over an hour to get to us. The chicken parmesan I ordered was cold and the noodles were very overcooked. They made a personal sized pizza for two members of my party who ordered a large, and offered to make another personal sized pizza to compensate. We took it to go. The birthday person ordered dessert from the menu to go and we were still charged for it. We more so wanted to get out to make our drive home than fight over the check. We had two waitresses that didn't seem to notice the other was serving us. One was weirdly adamant that I took a box for my pasta, which I declined several times. I've driven by this place many times but never tried it. Yesterday, gave it shot. Our server was really friendly and did a great job! I ordered the stuffed jalapeño appetizer and my wife ordered the meatballs app and they were pretty good. I'd give the appys an 8 of 10. Now for the pizza, was not overly impressed with the crust and the toppings.... felt the crust was bland and toppings were skimpy. We had not been overly impressed with the food we had found in the Sandusky area in the four days that we had been there and chose this place on our last day there based on reviews. The Brick Oven Bistro did not disappoint! They don't use the word in any of their marketing or menu, but the pizzas here can absolutely be described as "artisanal"! The dough is freshly made not frozen, the ingredients are fresh, it was simply amazing pizza! We also got a calzone and it was every bit as good and fresh as the pizza. Because everything is made fresh, it takes a little extra time, but it is well worth the wait! If you're in the Sandusky area, I can't recommend this place enough. We picked this place due to some of the amazing reviews we read and it still exceeded our expectations. This restaurant is only a few minutes down the road from Cedar Point and has plenty of parking. We got there at about 6:30, were seated right away, and had our waiter at the table less than a minute later. They have an extensive beer and wine menu but since we were driving home after, we stuck to water. With 2 adults and 2 teens, we ordered 2 large pizzas to split. The kids had a large cheese and my husband and I had the meatball. So delicious. The sauce was really good and the basil on our pizza was a nice touch. Our server, Durond, was attentive, friendly, and a great conversationalist, despite being a Cleveland Browns fan (Go Steelers!) I'd recommend checking this place out. We're travelers exploring America with our kids. We came to Sandusky Ohio to visit a friend. She gave us recommendations to come here, she said this was the best pizza place & she was right !! The crust of the pizza is amazing and they have stuff I'd never put on a pizza but it works ! We got The Loaded Baked Potato & also the Italian Beef one. I wasn't sure what wine I wanted and I was able to sample two in cut schnapps glasses. We started with the bruschetta that was mostly cheese bread. Barely any basil. My husband and I split the he Caesar and my son had the side Caesar salad. We asked for both with dressing on the side. Both arrived dressed and with more on the side. That is a first. The pizza was ok. My husband and I shared the Greek. We changed out the sauce and which wasn't a problem. My son got the make your own with basil's and garlic. Again very little basil. I visited Brick Oven Bistro on my own a few weeks ago and the staff and other patrons were very friendly and helpful. My server answered all of my questions and shared her favorite appetizers and pizzas since it my first time eating there. I ordered the stuffed mushrooms which were good but a little under seasoned and the Curry Shrimp pizza which was the weekly special and it was delicious! I give this place 4 stars for their service. When I called in the order the person taking it was insightful and knowledgeable with my gluten free request and pleasant. It was a busy night for them so my pizza was done in 30 min. I ordered the pear gorgonzola pizza on gluten free with no walnuts and arugula. The one star lost is because we waited 30 minutes to order, and our waitress, who was very apologetic, accidentally got my crust order wrong. However, she came over and apologized a lot, as did the owner. I will say, while they didn't keep the up charge on my bill, I was a bit surprised they didn't give me a discount on my pizza with the long wait to order and the mistake. Long list of beers on tap and canned, with a good variety of hops, sours, ciders, etc. We really liked our raspberry fruited sour. Service was on point as well.
