What a cool joint! I loved the decor inside and the service was great. I had the Smoked Salmon dip starter as a meal, what a great choice!! The smoked salmon and cream cheese dip was spiced and topped with micro greens, served with buttered and toasted whole grain toast with roasted garlic, pickled carrots and onions, and a charred lemon wedge. What a fun and interactive appetizer! I also had the Rye PA ale, which had a nice flavor but didn't linger too much after that and ended up tasting a bit boring. The beer was good but not terrible impressive. My friends had the Cuban and the burger of the day and they loved their dishes! Will definitely be back! read more

This is one of my favorite breweries in the Omaha area. The food is great and they have traditional bar food with a spin. The food is a little pricey compared to traditional bar food, but it is interesting food with big portions. The appetizers are great, especially the pretzels. We got the brewers burger special which was excellent. Their beers were good as well, we got an English pale ale and an IPA. I would get them again. read more

My husband and I visited his parents in Omaha this past weekend and ended up at Benson Brewery twice! A friend from Portland mentioned Benson Brewery's great beer and the fact they have vegan buffalo wings, so we had to check it out. The beers were as advertised - straight-ahead, basic and good, with no surprises or let downs - the white sangria was strong and delicious, and my god, those buffalo wings! We got two orders on our first visit and were so impressed, we ordered them again (along with a homemade black bean burger served with house-made quick pickles, which were also fantastic) when we went back the next day. Our meat-eating friends really loved their salmon spread appetizer, though they reported the chicken sandwich was a little dry. They tried a few bites of the vegan buffalo wings, though, and agreed they were awesome. And the homemade pretzels were delicious, too! The servers were super friendly and knowledgable, the atmosphere was fun and busy without being bro-y, and neither meal or drinks broke the bank. read more

First time and last time. Food was lack luster and frankly not wort the price. Our food was cold and under seasoned. We ordered their "Burger War" burger and only saving grace was the bacon on it. The bathroom was out of toilet paper and just dirty. The place could use a good cleaning especially the lights which where extra dusty and had flys in the globes. I would have to say that BB is more restaurant than brewery. Yes, they brew beer, and serve their own beer. It's pretty good, but is reminiscent of other restaurant/brewery business (think Granite City) models that already crowd the market. Always a great choice when in Benson. They have an amazing range of draft beers plus food that never disappoints. I ordered the fish and chips it was fresh and crispy. The service is also great too. Friendly bartenders that greet you right as you come in. Cool decor and a fun crowd most nights. The music isn't too loud and makes for a great affordable date night spot. Solid beers. The 1217 New England IPA was great. Very aromatic beer with Mosaic and Citra hops. Nice menu with a variety of choices. I'd recommend the poutine and pretzel sticks from the appetizers. Cuban and the mahi-mahi fish and chips are solid choices for dinner. Overall one of the better Brewery experiences in the Omaha area. Also one of the few breweries in the area to step outside of the comfort zone and try a few more beers on the edge. read more

Took a friend to lunch today at Benson Brewery, and I have to say the food and service were impeccable. As a restaurant manager here in town, my standards are a little "too picky" as I'm told, but it's pretty easy to give 5 stars when everything was perfect. We started with the soft pretzels, and I'm not sure what witchcraft they used to create that Gouda sauce, or how they made them sooooooo soft and fluffy, but holy $#!%. Then we both had a burger, I order mine Medium, and they cooked it to Medium, not over, not under, my friends burger was done to his perfect order as well. Yet another reason to love the Benson corridor. I hate to say it, but I have yet to try the food here, but it looks great and my better half has and thinks it's great. My endeavors here have all been of the liquid variety. I really like their beer, lots of flavor and complexity to them and am always eager to try something new they have. The atmosphere is cool as well. Whether you are inside at the bar or out on the back patio. Pretty much just a cool brewery that has you covered. read more

It took 3 trips for them to get a review but they are crushing it now!! I'm not exactly sure what's changed but the food was stellar! We shared the "baked Mac & cheese, the Pork Tenderloin sandwich with potato salad as a side, and the pretzel stick appetizer" they were all literally amazing!! Our pretzels did come out at the same time but they easily took them off the bill with no problem. I was just so impressed and that doesn't happen often! It's a must stop for sure!! read more

We visit the Benson Brewery often for their vegan options, specifically to enjoy the seitan wings. They are a bit pricey, but during happy hour at half off, very reasonable. We usually ask them to undercook them a bit, as they can otherwise be overdone and hard to chew. We enjoy sitting out in their beer garden on nice days. Inside it's noisy, which is normal for a bar/restaurant, but don't let that stop you from giving them a try! read more

Overall, Benson Brewery is a hip joint in a vibrant location, but the food is hit or miss. Immediately upon walking in the microbrewery is reminiscent of many in Seattle, with the wooden high tops and bar stools, outdoor seating, and open atmosphere. The selection of brews was small, but the Blonde Bunny and wheat ale were both delicious. My family tried the pear blackberry cider and loved it. The vegan seitan wings are not as good as Modern Loves, but the IPA mustard sauce accompanying them was to die for. The eclectic mix of veggies with the app was also spot on. I tried the black bean burger on a jalapeño Kaiser bun and enjoyed the texture and flavor profile immensely. I would get that every time I visit. However, my husband got a burger and was less than impressed; didn't even finish the whole thing which is a rarity for him. Overall, the food is hit or miss the atmosphere and beer I second to none. read more

Revisiting Benson Brewery tonight was not what I was going for. Definitely new people behind the bar and some in the kitchen. A new menu. Some new beers. New cocktails. A New Hope. With that in mind, tonight was A Force Awakens. You know, the same thing, but different. But still the same. After a dismal experience months ago, I was invited to give a fresh try with an offer to ease my burden. Tonight the fare consisted of some apps, some beers, some wine, a soda, and vegan food. The menu refresh shows new leadership as it features even less vegan items and now the en vogue items. Bangers & Mash anyone? How about Poutine? I imagine a Scotch egg is in the pipeline I always get the vegan Seitan wings (check the pics) and have had only the vegetarian, but mostly vegan options since this place opened. We also had the Black bean burger, the Pretzels, and a Beet/Quinoa salad. The influences from past worksites for the crew are evident in the current refresh. The 'wings' have changed slightly. The menu now looks like Blatt, Block 16, and Pig & Finch had a newborn brewery. The sadness, to me, is the frequency that the management changes here. I have been in the industry for a long time and know about turnover, but it seems to me this place is a career deathwish. Charged with generating more revenue than prior leaders, they often bring a team that they know with them without knowing the customers' trends. Tonight's highlight was our server, Michael. (that's the name on the receipt) He was really on point and attentive. Even when I hastily asked for some hot sauce he brought it back quickly. I think the next time I come through will be Benson Beerfest. I feel that anytime sooner will be just a waste of my time. read more

I'm not an exceptionally huge fan of the beers here as they are typically pretty hop forward, and I am not a hop head. I do enjoy the brewers duet however. The food on the other hand here is fantastic. Ive yet to order something off the menu and not be happy with it. My personal favorite is their mac n cheese, add chorizo. Went to have dinner with a friend this evening - first visit for us both - and we were extremely pleased with the entire experience. The Benson Blonde and Kettle Sour beers were thoroughly enjoyed and went well with the wonderful Warm & Soft Pretzel Sticks, as well as the superb Bacon Blue Burger and Fried Pork Tenderloin. The homemade fries were fantastic, as were the accompanying pickles. In addition to the great food the atmosphere was very pleasant. We both really enjoyed the selection of music that was playing in the background and agreed that the volume was at that perfect balance where we could clearly hear what was being played yet were able to easily talk across the table. To top off the experience our waiter, Zack, was pleasant and took care of us without being overbearing or overly attentive. He made sure that we had everything we needed when it was needed. We were very satisfied with all aspects of our dinner and we both are looking forward to going back. read more

Stopped here for an early dinner yesterday. The menu is not very extensive but everything looked pretty delicious. I went with the Kale Salad. It was fresh and a good portion. At $12 I thought it was maybe a tad overpriced, but the quality was there. This is definitely a cool spot to grab a casual meal in Benson. This place is absolutely dog sh*t!!! bought 4 shots and only 2 came and then the waitress had the audacity to tell me and my buddy that she already brought out the shots.. like we wouldn't know we took them.. we still never got our 2nd round of shots after telling her we didn't get them she then went ahead and never refunded/took the missing shots off the bill. So the early bird might get the worm ... but that worm isn't always as tasty as the one the rest of us get when we finally get around to it. Metaphorically, of course. I mean, unless you like worms. Case in point: I'd actually actively avoided BB because I heard mixed reviews on the food after it first opened. But apparently a few months (and, I'm told, a possible menu takeover by Block 16?) is all it needed to ramp up to deliciousness. Because holy cow, you guys. I can't speak for everything on the menu, but the Farm Burger alone is enough to make me want to go back week after week after lip-smacking week. It's a perfectly-cooked patty (I went with the Wagyu beef, but bison is also an option), topped with tart apple-bacon jam, smoky mozzarella and the perfect crunch from two fried house pickles. So. Good. It's also a super chill place with a nice design and really friendly staff. The one letdown of my night was that they were out of hard cider ... at 6:45 p.m. on a Friday, no less. So the Chai-bite (a mix of their own Karha-T and hard cider) was out. Womp. Womp. read more

I like this place. My husband and I went on a Wednesday night and the place was pretty full. The two top tables are very close together, so you will be hearing your neighbors conversation. I don't have a problem with this, except I felt a little pressure to be more interesting :) But if you like something a little more private, this isn't the place for you. We started out with the cornbread with chilis and wild honey. This dish wanted to be good, but the cornbread was very dry and crumbly and the chili flavor was lost in the amount of honey we had to dip it in to make it moist. We each had the hamburger for our entrees. Mine was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was delicious. I'm not a big fan of pickles, but the apple-bacon jam and pickle chips made for sweet and salty perfection. My bun kind of fell apart, but that could be because I cut the burger in half. My husband ordered his medium well, but it came out closer to medium. If you liked well-done burgers this isn't the place for you (and really what is wrong with you?). I had the Adopted Amber Ale which was a nice blend not too malty, not too hoppy. I would go back for the burger for sure. read more

Will not return. This was our first visit and our last. They are part of the Passport. Was going for a belated Fathers Day lunch as well. We were told they were no longer seating anyone. They took a huge party and didn't have the staff. If you don't have the staff why take the large party. I have also filed a complaint with the passport that they should not be participants in later years or even this year if they don't have the ability to staff themselves. I get it that the pandemic was hard on businesses and staffing but honestly the excuse is getting old to me. What was worse is we walked back by an hour later as we went down the street to eat and they had many new people sitting outside so obviously they were seating people after we left. Tried to call and talk to a manager and they refused to answer the phone each time we tried. If you are a small business that needs patrons to visit to keep your business open this is not the way to do it. I will only provide business where I am treated with respect and there is customer service involved. read more

First of all, this place is great inside. The design and ambiance is great. Location is fantastic. Only downside is that Benson's parking sucks. But that's a Benson problem, not the brewery's. The service was great...our waitress was so nice, attentive, and shared a pretty good laugh with my friend and I. Staff was knowledgeable and wonderful. The beer was fun to sample. I come from a pretty extensive beer business background, and was proud of the little biz for having such an array to sample. I would definitely say that every kind of craft beer drinker could find something to sip on here. Will def go back to try more and drink a unique local brew. I think it will become a great spot to bring out-of-towners to show them we're more than just corn and cattle. The food was fine. I had the burger and made the mistake of ordering it medium-well. I think if I did the good ol' medium-rare, it would have been fantastic. Flavor was good. I also had the beer cheese soup which was pretty good. The croutons in it were not good, but the soup itself, was good. Creamy and not bitter at all. My friend had the sausage and she sadly wasn't all that impressed, although it looked great. I'm definitely a fan of this place. Maybe it's the weather right now, but it's perfect for a cozy afternoon when you want to escape this snow! The place is comfortable and warm, and the bartenders are always welcoming and friendly. The food all reminds me of typical "comfort food", which is exactly what I want when I'm trying to hibernate. :) They usually have a game or something on TV, and the atmosphere is pretty quiet and laid-back. I came here over the weekend and had a beer flight ... every single one was delicious! Check these ones out: - Cider: I believe they have a rotating cider pick at all times, so I just asked for the one on tap. I can't remember the name of it, but it was just okay. A standard cider. Spictoberfest: This tasted like fall, in a glass. Nutmeg, pumpkin... yum! Get this one while you can, because I doubt it will be around all year. -Brewer's Duet: They worked with Aromas to make this beer, and you can definitely taste the coffee flavor. It's super smooth, and perfect for a Sunday afternoon. I really liked this one. - Rough Draft Porter: This beer had hints of chocolate and coffee in it, and was also super smooth -- almost too easy to drink. If I had to pick a full glass to order from this list, the Porter would be it. They recently opened up a side-room, so good news if you're planning to go out with a bigger group. After giving Benson Brewery several chances, tonight's meal was the final straw. We arrived around 6:45 with our three hungry kids. The restaurant was 1/3 full with plenty of staff. We tried to sit outside on the patio but 2 of the 3 tables were smoking. It still boggles my mind that Omaha has not caught up with the rest of the world and banned smoking on patios. We moved inside and waited...We ordered two kids cheeseburger slider meals, one chicken strips and an order of fish & chips to split between my husband and I. It took over 45 mins for our food to come out. The cheeseburger sliders were very tiny and hard as a rock. The fish and chips were rubber and inedible. The chicken fingers never showed up because the server put an order in for mac and cheese instead. I can understand a mistake happening but she had a pad/pen out when she took our order so I'm not sure what went wrong there. After another 15mins and no explanation/apology, the chicken came out-grossly over cooked. As she was delivering the chicken, I took the opportunity to let the server know the fish was inedible. She said she would take it off the bill and then we never saw her again. After another 15mins, I finally had to go up to bar to ask for our tab when I spotted our server who then of course decided to get that ready. Everything about our meal and experience here was a disappointment and now after it being the 3rd time with lousy service and subpar food, we won't be back. read more

I like it! They serve 16 beers on tap. Two made in house, their brewmaster was from ODell in Colorado. Tried the Blonde and Amber, and apparently they will have more house brews soon. Atmosphere is nice, similar to Lot 2/ Krug lay out wise. Only ordered an appetizer of 'Trotter Tots" they were delicious, but small. Other dishes looked great, but we had dinner plans elseware. I think I will be back to try an entree, and to sample more beers. More healthy competition for the Benson area food and bar scene. read more

Charred wings for dayyyyys, y'all. Honey mustard in particular. Dang. So tasty. So... their gluten-free options are not plentiful. :/ but the ones that they do offer are pretty darn tasty, and my sweet husband said that the Chorizo Mac and Cheese was outta control. The salad I got was as big as my head (and no hats ever fit me, so that's saying something). The kale was peppery and wonderful and tasted like it had been cut out of somebody's garden that morning. The chicken in my salad was super fresh, and all in all I was super pleased with the ambience, the service, and my meal. The downside: no gluten free beer. Of course. They did have cider, so I did still get to drink before the Motion City Soundtrack show down the road at the Waiting Room. PSA: the fries are gluten-free. The gravy, however, is NOT. So poutine is out of the question for you cheeseheads. (Believe me, I wanted it so bad, and was crushed when told that the gravy was thickened with flour.) In the summertime, when it's still light out at 9pm and they open up the windows to connect the inside and the outside... it's magical. I wanna spend all my time in that building. read more

My boyfriend and I are both vegetarian. We sometimes struggle to find good, hearty vegetarian/vegan food in Omaha, but last night at Benson Brewery we were blown away by the prefixe vegan New Years Eve menu. The courses included beer pairings, which seemed almost above and beyond for the price ($35 a head). All the beers were great, and we learned some things about all the beers from our server, who was friendly and accommodating. We even requested the non-vegan dessert, as we both eat dairy and eggs, and they were more than happy to do so. The food was all cooked to perfection, and we never once had to season anything. Our first course was a salad. We aren't normally big salad fans, but this one had great flavors and really kept us interested. It had a nice beer vinaigrette, crunchy candied walnuts and tart cranberries. Next was the vegan cassoulet, with house-made seitan and vegan sausage, It was served rustic-style on a slate platter and was paired with a nice grain bread. Very hearty, which was important on a cold evening like last night! The highlight of our meal was the pot pie - it was beefy, peppery, and full of huge chunks of seitan and root veggies. The puff pastry on top was perfect. We were filling up by this point but trekked through just to finish this plate. Our dessert was a perfect end note to the meal - a nice light panna cotta, served with strawberry and a crunchy brittle. We also received champagne with dessert, to which we toasted the new year and a great meal. For any vegans or vegetarians in Omaha, I would definitely recommend trying out Benson Brewery's new vegan/vegetarian items. It is clear they know what non-meat eaters are craving in a satisfying meal! read more

I hate to give a local brewery two stars, but I truly have had better experiences at other microbreweries that also served food. My husband and I always order a sampler flight at every brewery we visited. We had to order 2 samplers to get to 8 of the 9 beers (we skipped the Dirty Blonde). The only ones I enjoyed were the Alt-er Ego, Adopted Amber Ale, and the White Rabbit IPA. My husband also liked the Maple St. Porter and Rich Uncle's Dunkel (they were good, but I can "eat" beer if you know what I mean). The Belgium Harvest Hefe, Karha-T, and the 8th beer that I believe was seasonal (I don't see on their online menu) were not very good and completely forgettable. If I go back, I know there are a few solid brews that I could get a pint of and be happy, so that's a good thing. We order the Bread Basket and the Sausage Platter to snack on, and both were delicious. What disappointed me was that the Sausage Platter was a trio of rabbit, pheasant, and boar sausages, which we only learned AFTER we at them and inquired because 1) it doesn't say in the menu and 2) the server failed to tell us what was what when it was served to us. We'd order both items again, but we learned the lesson to ask about the items because it seems like they may have interesting ingredients/origins that you might not know about otherwise. We enjoyed ourselves and wouldn't rule out going back, but we still have a lot of places in the Omaha area to try before we run back here. read more

I really want to like this place more. They have a great space, the staff is very friendly, and the food is pretty good. The problem is their beer. It isn't very good, and they are a brewery, after all. I have probably had their beers a half dozen times now, and while they aren't terrible, they aren't that good, either. This, coupled with the fact that their prices are kind of on the high end per pint, makes it tough to justify drinking there when there are other places within a block that serve better craft beers at lower prices. read more

I had heard a lot of good things about Benson Brewery so for some dinner & drinks, some friends and I stopped by here to check things out on Sunday. It was a really nice day out so we asked about sitting out on the back patio which the bartender handed us some menus and gave us an impression a server would be right with us. We waited about 15 or so minutes and hadn't seen anyone come outside, a couple other people sitting at tables either eating or waiting for food, and then dirty glasses on the other tables. Being a little confused, wondering if maybe we had to go up to the bar to order food if it was more of a "fast casual" service, me and my friends went up to the bar to ask if we had to order food there which the bartender did apologize and took our beer orders and had a server come bring our drinks out to us and to take our meal order. The beer was just okay. They didn't really have anything on their menu that stood out that I wanted to try and the one that I did end up going with did not leave me impressed. None of the spices/flavors blended very well. I tried to order the Spicy Mediterranean Sausage which they were out of and ended up going with the Pork Belly Sandwich. The sandwich was alright. Didn't really stand out to me flavor wise but the pork was tender. They did seem to have some good vegan/veggie options on the menu which is always a plus. One friend ordered the vegan wings & a side of fries and the other friend ordered the fish tacos. The price was rather steep for the amount/quality of the food. Service was more so on the poor side for it being on the rather lighter side of the amount of people in there. Our waitress did check on us in the middle of our meal and then towards the end when my friend said he was probably going to order another beer and she stated she'd return in a couple minutes. Which didn't happen for another 15 minutes or so and so by that time we were all just ready for our check. Overall I was not very impressed and would probably take my $$ elsewhere for better beer & food. read more

I loved their vegan wings. They are thin slices of seitan fried and coated with your choice of sauce. Delicious. I preferred the bbq sauce over the hot wing but both were yummy. Pretzels were delicious too! Yum! We had a great bartender who took great care of us all evening. A great enjoyable place and I love that they have a nice selection of vegan and veggie options along with meat selections for my hubby. read more
