I came here as a stop on a bar crawl party bus. We were a large group of girls that came in mid-day on a Saturday and it was so fun! It's a quaint and older style river front bar. The main attraction is the view of the river so I don't put too much stock into the interior, other than the staff. The bartenders were so nice even though we probably came in like a bull in a china shop. We were served our drinks in a timely manner and we played a few of the outdoor games, some girls sat on the patio, others just walked around the property. We weren't there long enough to order, but it was such a great experience I can't wait to come back and enjoy a meal on the patio before the summer ends. read more

This wasn't quite what I was expecting upon arrival honestly. The building is quite worn along with the outside seating. They offered a very limited menu that day. I was surprised they didn't offer a few beers on tap, but they offered a large variety of cans/bottles of beers. I went with the cheeseburger and tots, and my son went with the chicken tender basket with tots. My burger consisted of a large patty and decent amount of toppings. My wife found this on our way back from our son's baseball game last night. It was tucked off the main road so it was kind of hard to fine based on Maps. I love hole in the wall restaurants, so I was eager to try it. We were greeted us as we walked up and decided to sit outside to look at the water. They do not offer anything on tap, but they have a large selection of beers in their coolers. They offered a limited menu, but they offered a variety in my opinion. First, let me start off by saying I've been here a few times (no less than 10 times). It's a decent bar off the river. My rating is based on all my visits. The bartenders are always awesome. The bartenders on this day were great and they were newer and understaffed. But the cook, or lady bringing out food was another thing. She was grouchy from the time I was there to the time I left. I ordered food and 10 minutes later she's yelling the kitchen is closed for 30 minutes. An hour after I ordered food I went to check on it and she was yelling at me that the kitchen was closed. I know, but we ordered. Our order was never put in, but everyone after me was already eating. We got fries instead and never an apology. The food is bar food. It doesn't blow your mind, but it's good enough when you're hungry. Everyone at the bar has been friendly. I give it a solid 3. The owner is a nice guy, met him one time read more

Stopped by while riding my motorcycle around. Definitely low-key. Not fancy but a goodish selection of bottled beers and the cheeseburger and tots were tasty. There was a decent amount of customers there today. Not crowded at all, though I can imagine the patio getting packed when a band is playing. I'm torn between wishing they'd clean up the place a bit and just enjoying the laid back attitude. I think laid back is probably just fine for a beer and burgers stop with the guys. Absolutely Glorious on the River small town Biker/Dive Bar Alert!!!! This place has been one of my fav spring, summer an fall pit stops when you want to enjoy a beautiful day on the platte river. The beers always cold the bloody Mary's are home made an absolutely delicious. Now let's talk about their food; it's better then some places in the city for half the price. I'd highly recommend the smoked wings; their freaking amazing an the smoke is perfect. I'm also seeing it get a ton of love thrown into it so don't know if there are new owners or not but the place is getting a nice face lift that was definitely needed. read more

While this isn't a 4star restaurant as most conceive of the same, this is a GREAT chill spot with real people, real food, and real booze. Uptight peep will NOT do well here. We parked it in a corner, shady spot about an hour ago and just ate our cheesesteak samich and fries, drank our cold beer (or whiskey) and ran a tab. Hubs enjoyed his cigar on the river as we watched airboats and listened to others' banter! A perfect spot! read more

This place is worth going out of your way for. It is right on the river and offers a great outdoor patio. The interior could use some work but the bathrooms were clean and appeared to be recently renovated. When we walked in there was no music or televisions so it was oddly silent. We played some music on the jukebox and the sound system was Terrible. Seriously, listening to music in my CRV is better. I ordered a Colorado bulldog but they didn't have any milk or cream so they improvised with baileys. So.....I was served pint glass full of liquor. After a morning of filthy warrior dash action, Heron Bay was the perfect 3-hour stopping point on our drive back to Omaha to consolidate with our dusty, mud-caked, and generally otherwise filthy friends. These are the reasons I would go back. They had... - copious amounts of beer - plenty of fried tidbits - very friendly and laid back staff - interesting drinking companions - a nice view of the river (nobody even minds if you go swimming) - plenty of patio furniture (because why would you be inside?) - a trash can to throw [break] empty beer bottles into - a stage with a garden hose nearby which several of us used to rinse off - fancy blue heron light-switch wall plates in the bathrooms - an outdoor bar So even though the bartender admitted he'd never seen a blue heron (or any heron for that matter) anywhere near the bar... we had a fantastic time here. Music was great, so was the atmosphere, food was good, service was horrible. We waited 20 minutes before even being approached by a waitress and then she wasn't very friendly. I know that they are limited staff but when we arrived only about a 1/3 of the tables were full. We had the Cheeseburgers and they were standard Bar food but way overcooked. Amount of food was on the small end as well for the $14 they were charging. The waitress stopped by 3 times total, to take our order, deliver our food and ask if we wanted our ticket. We were drinking so they did not get any extra beers sold as we did not see her. After she asked if we wanted our ticket and we said yes we waited 30 minutes for our ticket and then both the waitresses decided it was time for a smoke break! We then went in and paid our ticket at the bar and left. We planned on staying all night and listening to music but with staff like that, no thank you! We came in after kayaking and it was so awesome that I'm mad we were never here before. Michelle was our server and we will be coming back because she was amazing. She went out of her way to make us feel at home. This lady was a mile a minute, in a good way, and her energy was non-stop. She kept us stocked with food and drinks all night and it was the best service we've ever had. If I could give more than 5 stars I totally would. read more

It's definitely a dive and cleanliness is not a strong suit here but the food was good, the waitress was hilarious and the views were amazing. We also had a couple of beers. The food was good, and it was a fair price. Our waitress was incredibly stressed though. We were told that it would be "easier" to go inside and check out at the bar. This is one of my favorite bars (I've actually never tried the food). The atmosphere is awesome if you are into places that are totally unpretentious. It is hard to beat drinking a beer and listening to good music at a table overlooking the river. If you are looking for something fancy this is not the place for you. This place needs help!!! I have never waited so long for food. We would have left, but like a bar they ask for your credit card when you first order drinks. Our drinks came fairly quickly, but when we asked for menus, we had to go inside to get them after waiting 10 minutes or so. They only had two menus and there were six of us. We didn't see our waitress for a very long time. We asked another waitress to take our order. We had been there 30-40 at this point. We then watched several other tables get their food before us even though they had been seated after us. We asked twice about our appetizers - we had been there well over an hour at this point and we were starving. Our waitress never came back to report the status of our food even though we'd been asking. Once we got our food, she was a bit more attentive. We got their at 530 and we were served dinner at 7 after some self service and hounding. Our dinner was mediocre bar food. The place looks dumpy as well. Patio needs attention. My husband was the one who went inside so I can't comment much about the interior. They have a nice spot on the river. It would be nice if they stepped up a bit to match the surrounding scenery. read more

This place is a little hard to find but we have been going there for years. This is a well known place for motorcycle riders to stop at. Right off the Platte River with outdoor seating is where you want to be on a nice day. The inside of the bar is nothing to brag about. Often times you will see airboats parked outside the bar at racing down the river. They do have live music from time to time as well. If your looking for something different and don't need anything fancy, this is a fun place to swing by for at least one cold one. read more

Cool dive bar in a weird location. Right off the highway and with a great view overlooking the Platte River. As we lounged on the patio on a nice summer evening, an airboat roared by -- the boat's name? Redneck Yacht. That sort of sums up this place. It is a dive bar for people who really like dive bars. The weird part? The food is amazing. I don't mean just solid bar food, which you can also order if you like. I had the chicken picatta and it was not only artfully presented but also very delicious. I'll stop short of overselling this place as a hidden foodie paradise. It's not. But for some really great food in a truly rundown hideaway, you can't find better. I wish I'd known about it before. Bonus points for the outdoor stage. We'll go back to see a band soon just for the hell of it. read more

Stopped here after a day's worth of tubing on the river and it was a HUGE mistake - don't do it! The views are great, but definitely not worth the service and food you'll receive. We waited an hour without a check-in from our waitress, having to go to the bar for refills. We ordered appetizers, which took an hour and a half to get dropped off - again, with very little follow through by our server. The nachos came out with shredded cheese (not melted at all), some lettuce, a scoop of refried beans, and some burnt hamburger. The mozzarella sticks were lacking mozzarella almost entirely. When brought up to the server, she simply said "I'll cancel your order" with no apologies or anything. The staff never offered a resolution, apology, or understanding that everything about our first visit to their establishment was absolutely terrible. There were multiple parties as well experiencing similar issues. The service and treatment after bringing our issues to the staff was far from how you run a service industry and for a first experience, we for sure will never be back and I would recommend the same for you as well! read more

The stars are really for the atmosphere. The service and the band a few weekends ago left a lot to be desired and they weren't very busy. The waitress came by a few times to pick up our empties, but never asked if we wanted another drink so we ended up going up to the bar all night to get refills. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! We went out last Sat. night. Our food was late by over an hour, the steak was not cooked right and the vegetables were still half frozen. We complained and were told they were "Swamped" by the waitress, the manager and the Cook! Like that makes ANY difference, you are a restuarant, you need to provide service.
