    Inside. Perfect dive bar

Stopped at Buck's on the way home from a Husker game for an early dinner, and honestly, it was the perfect post-game vibe. We hit that magical window around 4 PM, too late for lunch, too early for the dinner crowd, and definitely before the live music rush. Translation: no waiting, plenty of neon, and a whole lot of quirky dive bar charm. The place is exactly what you want in a dive bar: neon lights, old band memorabilia, and that fun, laid-back vibe. We grabbed a table, got our drinks fast, and put in our order. I went with the chicken fried chicken (because why not go full comfort mode?), and my husband ordered the patty melt with tots. He wanted prime rib, but it was not quite ready yet. Heartbreaking, but he rebounded by adding a side of chicken gizzards. He swears they are good here, and I took his word for it because that is as far as I was going with those. My chicken-fried chicken came with a side salad. Was it underwhelming? Yes. Was it fresh? Also yes. But let's be honest, nobody comes to Buck's for the lettuce. The mains arrived hot, in hearty portions that made me instantly resign myself to leftovers, which is not a bad problem to have. The staff was awesome. They all worked together, kept our drinks full, and just seemed like they were having a good time themselves. With big portions, tasty food, and a friendly vibe all around, Buck's was the perfect spot to celebrate a Husker win. We will definitely swing back through when we are in that neck of the woods again.

Dive bar, small town feel. Feel good food menu. Good summer shandy beers and chicken fried chicken! Live music started as we were leaving and looked like some good country music! Love it here for a fun chill dinner

I wish more places offered live AFTERNOON music! We went on a Sunday afternoon for free live music and lunch! The place was really crowded but looked like all found a table as they have quite a few. I split a pork tenderloin with another. It was okay...a bit dry and tasteless but I am not a huge fan of them. Really wanted the fried chicken but they were out of dark pieces. Another in our group had the fried chicken sandwich and said they enjoyed it! Service was spot on and I was even given my own can of grapefruit juice to add to my drinks I ordered! The band was fun...just fun to have a live band to watch while eating lunch! Saw what looked like a bridal shower mini bus stop in with several coming in for a quick drink. They also have a decent patio area partially covered. Fun afternoon we will be back!

Side salad with Dorothy Lynch and crackers...nothing more finer in Nebraska!

Each meal, each visit is its own sweet little pop of yippee ki yay in your day! The staff is just as amazing as the food. And if you're already there, stay for the music!

If I could give Buck's 10 stars I would. You'll never find a better place to STFU and listen to watch kickass live music while having good strong drinks and absolutely amazing food. The staff is second to none. They've got a system down that works like a charm even when it's packed to the gills. No matter how busy they are, they all have a smile on their face, are so attentive and they have fun doing it. Much love and respect to them all!!!

I heard from a food group on Facebook that this place has a wonderful chicken fried steak. And they were correct. It was really good. One thing I liked about it was it was actually a 1 inch thick sirloin steak. It wasn't a minute steak that you see in most places. I like my chicken fried steak crust to be golden brown and there's was cooked a little longer and was darker brown, but it wasn't bad. From my pictures, you could see that I'm not a cream, gravy guy and most thankful that they had brown gravy. The potatoes and gravy along with the massive amount of green beans were awesome. As for the chicken fry steak, The crust needed to be thicker and since it was overcooked, I'd give it a B+.

Fantastic small town bar. Great wings and atmosphere. Don't forget to sign and put up your dollar bill.

We decided to try them out when we were in Elkhorn for our cats' vet appointment, and were driving by. Their branding is almost like a construction style with black, white, and yellow arrows and traffic sign style accents. We went through the drive through, so I can't speak for the interior, unfortunately (didn't want to leave the cats in the car, obviously, to eat inside). The food quality, I will say was not the greatest. It was definitely plentiful, though, if that's something that you look for. As an example, we got the "slider" burgers which came with four "sliders" - I use quotes for "slider" because these were huge, about the same size as a full-sized burger anywhere else. Now, a huge size does not a good burger make. The burgers were just okay, being a little bit burned and sort of flavorless overall. Their fries/frix were also kind of "meh" with not a lot of salt or flavor. Using a lot of ketchup, mayo, and salt - you can save these and the burgers, but you shouldn't have to do that yourself. One thing I DID like, though, were the mini corn dogs. I used to love getting those at Runza before they stopped making them. Yes, I am a 5 year old and love mini corn dogs. The Burger Detour ones were pretty good, but you can't much go wrong with frying these up. I would return to Burger Detour for the mini corndogs, but not a lot else, unless I want to doctor them up myself at home.

I've been to both locations multiple times each, but have not reviewed this particular location. I love the simplicity of the menu - burgers, chicken, and fries. Some variations of each, but just these things done well. Fries have been hot and fresh each time I visited. The burgers are good - tasty with good amount of toppings, but patties are somewhat under-seasoned. However, the food is reasonably priced, good quality for a burger, and the staff is always super friendly. There are usually younger teens working and they have a great attitude (which usually indicates great management). And they are heavily involved with schools in the local community - if you don't believe me, check out their socials! Overall, I've been impressed with both locations over multiple visits and will continue to return.
