Visited Bens Crab Friday with my family around 6:30pm. We were seated right away on the first floor. Our server was very good. Our drinks were STRONG just the way we like it. We ordered the shrimp basket to eat there. And 2 king crab legs to go. Since we had a movie to catch at 8pm. OMGOSH the shrimp basket was soo delicious, it came with Cajun fries which we loved. We ate the king crab legs, clams and shrimp made in the famous bens sauce, which I'll advise you to try, we ate it the next day for supper. And it was delicious. Everything came back to life. Omgosh. The foood for the most part could sometimes be a hit or miss depending on the time of day you come. My go to is usually the shrimp with the head-on in the Bens crab special. It was a sunny day, I wasn't particularly in the mood for seafood but the bf was...i figured I would order something small, maybe an app or something on the menu that wasn't seafood, like a chicken dish. I love how big and spacious this place is, once upon a time I had been here when it was a sushi place and it was set up so nice with lights, similar to a nightclub. I'm not certain if that is so, now. Anyhow, we are seated rather quickly, not too many other patrons. We look at the menu and it is ALL SEAFOOD. Actually, it's all Crab, hence Ben's. Maybe I'm crazy, maybe if I go to a seafood place I should want seafood and shut up. So I order crab legs, because, Ben's, and they give us bibs and plastic bags and I'm all wtf because it just seems a bit tacky. Went here twice for impromptu dinner dates. Both times, the food was good and the service was great. The second time, there was a private party going on upstairs, but you could hear the music from the party on the first floor. I didn't mind since the music was good and no one else seemed bothered either. However, the manager (I think) was still nice enough to offer a coupon for the next visit due to the ambient noise. The restaurant has a moderate noise level, but still has a cozy feel. The food selection is sure to satisfy any seafood craving. As I waited for my take out I remarked to my boyfriend like 3 times that we should come back for a sit down dinner. I might be partially to blame because of what I ordered. I got there at 10:30 and was unsure of what to get. I ordered the lobster with garlic butter and crab cakes as my app. I got this to go. O'bay probably would have been a better choice. The garlic butter is really nasty and isn't what I expected at all. The waitress did warn me that it was a whole lobster. She didn't explain that it wasn't cleaned at all and that's the real reason I'm giving this just one star. I started to eat it without realizing it wasn't cleaned at all and when I saw the amount of stuff left inside of the lobster I was totally disgusted and nauseous. The crab cake was fine but after the lobster I can't really rave about their food. I'm very clearly pregnant and I think a bit of a warning would have been nice. Great food some of the best seafood boils I've had, the sauce is so flavorful and full of seasoning. Only thing I can say is one time I tried a pound of king crab legs for 49$ and they brought out two crab legs. I don't know it that's normal but I was upset because my girlfriend had never had a seafood boil before and I definitely didn't think we could start out on two legs. They let me send it back no problem, and when I got two pounds of snow crab legs for a similar price it was so much food we couldn't finish. Also wish they didn't cover up their outdoor dining spaces with all of the plastic and plywood as they had really nice outdoor dining space. But overall I think it's one of the best seafood boils I've had, just stick to things like snow crab, shrimp, crawfish, and clams as you will be potentially upset with the worth once you get more expensive boil items. read more
