The Cajun boil seafood is very tasty. Served fast and the volume is big, very flavorful. The owner is very friendly. Highly recommend.

It was very good and it was the most authentic Cajun Seafood I've had on Long Island. The fried cat fish here is also very good.

Our waitress made us feel completely comfortable we were laughing, having side conversations, and genuinely enjoying ourselves all night. By the end of the evening, she even said, "Goodnight, love you!" and quickly laughed saying she didn't mean to say it. That pretty much summed up the vibe of the night friendly, relaxed, and memorable. The food was excellent from start to finish. I had the Caesar salad appetizer, which was very good, and my sister had the calamari, which she said was excellent. For our entrées, we both ordered the chicken parmesan with alavaca sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. To finish the night, we shared the crème brûlée for dessert, and it was the perfect treat. The portion is definitely big enough for two people, so I wouldn't recommend ordering one per person. The location is beautiful and right by the water true to the restaurant's name. The only small thing to note is the parking. There are two parking lots, and the first one is definitely the better option. The second lot leads closer to the waterfront entrance and can feel a little tight and snug when parking. Overall, we had an amazing time and would absolutely go back. Great food, great atmosphere, and even better service.

I asked if there was a lunch menu. I was told no. So I ordered from what we were given. Later I found out there were " lunch specials" No water refills , extremely small portions , my husbands papadelle was good , my daughter's seafood platter was not. Overcooked shrimp and tough frozen calamari rings. My eggplant parmigiana was terrible. One bready soggy piece with skimpy mozzarella and a tiny side order of spaghetti. For the prices charged I expected more.

I have ordered takeout before but today I just needed a moment to sit and enjoy something comforting . This place and the chowder did the trick. The place has been around since the 30's so that says a lot. They do have tables outdoor under a tent but I love the nostalgic vibe of the inside counter with the little stools. You can watch them fry up all the goodies. I was immediately greeted, sat and my beautiful bowl of chowder came. The service is endearing and though my first time dining in, they treated me like I was a regular and they do with everyone. Maybe that's why they have been around so long. Good food is great but service that makes you feel like you are a regular is top tier. As The clouds rolled in the thunder struck and as the rain poured down, I enjoyed my lovely bowl of New England clam chowder. They are heavy on the fresh clams and just right on the potatoes. They do have the red chowder and their Long Island version which is a mix of the 2. This just hit the spot all around and on a day like I was having today, filled my soul. I'll BE BAck for the good fried goodies next time. Thank you!

As someone who isn't the biggest fan of tomato based soups, but doesn't always want the heaviness of a cream based soup, this is the best of both worlds. Its flavor was rich yet balanced. The cream brought a smooth, velvety body and subtle sweetness, while the tomato added a bright acidity and savory depth. Potatoes provided gentle heft and earthy comfort, while onions, celery, and herbs built a layered, homey backbone. There was a good amount of tender clams, with natural sweetness that tied everything together. We also got an order or mini crab cakes. The exterior was golden fried, with a nice crunch. The interior was more crab than filler, with enough structure that it held together. It was simply seasoned, supporting the crab instead of overshadowing it. The horseradish Dijon sauce was more Dijon than horseradish. It brought a gentle tang and little bite to add a depth of flavor to the crab cake. Also of note, when you sit down they bring tartar sauce and cocktail sauce to your table. Both sauces were honestly the best of their kind that I can remember having in a very long time. I couldn't even tell you what made them so amazing, but I must have commented at least 7 times about how good they were. There's a reason Bigelow's has been around for almost 90 years. It's a simple spot, with old school charm, that knows a good thing when it's got it, and doesn't mess with perfection. It just continues to serve up consistently good fried seafood (with a few grilled options so you can drag your health conscious friends and they'll find something too).

My boy and I are there pretty much every Sunday during NFL season, and honestly, we sneak visits in during the week too -- sometimes just us, sometimes with the wives, sometimes grabbing food to bring back home. The vibe is always cool, welcoming, and family-oriented. Jerry, the owner, is cool as hell and treats people right. The whole staff really does. Danielle, Jordan, Jose -- all love. Now let's get to the food. The whiting? Amazing. The catfish? Amazing. The fried lobster? AMAZING. The shrimp? Always on point. The mac and cheese is easily a 4 to 4.5 out of 5. I'll never say somebody's mac is better than my mama's, but theirs is dangerously close. The collard greens are solid too. Me personally, I like my greens with a little more soul seasoning and spice -- a little cayenne kick built in instead of needing hot sauce afterward -- so for me they're about a 3.5 to 4 out of 5. But I can tell they season them in a way that appeals to everybody's palate and lets people adjust it themselves. The salmon soup? ELITE. They sell out of it constantly, so if you want it, get there early. The only thing I'd personally add would be some crushed chili flakes and corn niblets to take it completely over the top. As somebody who cooks and runs a catering business myself, I'm extremely critical about food, so when I say this place meets the bar and raises it, I mean that. Jose is usually back there cooking every time we go, so I joke that they got him chained to the kitchen -- but clearly he knows what he's doing. Jerry and the family taught him well. Now for honesty: The potato salad isn't really my thing. I'd probably give it a 2.5 out of 5 because, again, it feels made to appeal to all palates instead of heavily seasoned-food lovers like me. Same with the cabbage -- but I'm Jamaican, so unless cabbage is Jamaican-style, you're probably not selling me on it anyway . But the important part is this: the foods people ACTUALLY go to a soul food seafood restaurant for? They absolutely nail them. And now they opened a Brooklyn location too. Trust me -- make the trip. Once you go, you're going to keep going back.

We were able…read moreto walk in towards the end of dinner service on a Saturday and get a table for two without a reservation. Nothing but great things to say. Walk in, the open kitchen to your left (seems like a brilliant use of the space layout they had to work with). Meet the smiling host, then straight into the dining room. The dining room is elevated for North Bellmore, white tablecloths, lighting, fixtures, plates, silverware - they spent a few bucks making it nice. We ordered too much, which happens when eating late after skipping lunch.... Apps: 1. The grilled halloumi was great - sometimes it can get rubbery - not here. They were served over thick sliced roasted tomatoes which held up just enough to get some grill marks as well. I could have done without the glaze, but it was still ok. 2. Tuna tartare - deep red tuna, diced, over avocado - well plated, good dish. 3. Couldn't decide on a grilled fish app, so went with the grilled seafood sampler - amazing flavor on it all - calamari, shrimp and octopus all tender and kissed just enough on that open flame. Knife work on the garnishes and plating was done by someone who cares. Diced peppers under the calamari must've been quickly pickled - they had great flavor and kept just enough crunch to make a great dish even better. For entrees - went with the grilled salmon and ribeye steak... couldn't believe it was as good as it was for the price. Salmon was delicious, juicy, and even the skin on (plated skin down) was perfect - which I can never do, especially on a grill. The ribeye was delicious - lots of rib-cap, perfectly medium-rare, even on a hot plate, and I could swear the chef might have predicted cook time to put the more rare side plate down to make it become a medium steak by the time it hit the table. And the fries..... ohhhhhh the fries..... I'm a sucker for french fries when done right, and I ordered these fries and apps alone, it would have been a perfect meal.... perfectly hot, crispy, and plentiful. Stuffed, packed up some of the entrees for leftovers, and skipped desert and coffee - it was late. But will deffff be back and can't wait to try some of the offerings on that menu. Oh and here's a tip... if you park facing the restaurant at night, turn off your headlights as you're pulling into the spot. Was it a particularly flawless night, or is this the norm? Will report back after going back - will deff be back.

We had a large party but the owner made accommodations, provided us with a nice birthday set up complete with balloons and there were games available for us to play at the table that helped make it an interactive experience. Not to mention the DJ was also playing good music. We got mixed reviews from our guests about their food but overall it was a great first experience. Fast forward to yesterday, vibes were similar. They seemed a little short staffed for a brunch day buy the server/bartender was doing the best she could with a very upbeat pleasant demeanor. We noticed the Manager come in as we were seated but she seemed reoccupied so we didn't get a chance to greet her. Our food came out and it was pretty good, my wife would've wanted her waffles a little more cooked but the food came out exactly how we ordered so she would know better to mention that next time. The main issue was there was a piece of metal from a metal cleaning pad in my Waffle. I mentioned it to the Server and she brought it to her manager only to come back and tell me she was told it was from when the Waffle machine got cleaned and she offered me a new Waffle. I had already eaten just about my whole meal so I didn't think replacing it would make sense. She gave us a round of shots before we paid the bill but I just would have liked it more if the owner had come and at least acknowledged the issue before we left.
