My dog Kai LOVES this place. He goes crazy in here cause he's so happy to smell and greet the workers. I also love how they have sales each month, there's a self serve dog bath area that we can use, lots of food and treat options. I believe the workers name that I met is Angel? She was super helpful since it was our first time in the store and walked us through everything, gave us some samples to bring home and try. The birthday cookie was a hit with my dog so please do sell it! Updated review: I've been going to Ben's for about 10 months now, and every single visit has been amazing. No matter what issue or minor inconvenience I'm having with my puppy, Angel, Angela, Bella, and Jeff are always beyond happy to help and share their knowledge. They're great at recommending and introducing me to new food, treats, wellness items, and other products. Most importantly, they genuinely care about my puppy's health, his happiness, and they all love him! When my puppy had Parvo, they helped saved his life. Their recommendations, care, and support got us through a really scary time, and I'll forever be grateful and appreciative of them for introducing us to food and wellness products that literally saved his life. This review comes after using Ben's Barketplace in Campbell for ten months, since moving to San Jose. First, the staff is exceptionally kind and knowledgeable, like no pet food store I have ever been. I learn something new every time I go and I love that. My two dogs are greeted and treated in a way that would make any dog trainer proud! I cannot spend as much as I would like on food but I have never been made to feel badly about that, rather I am helped to make the best choice for healthy food at the price I can afford. Both dogs live Tripett and have been thriving since we switched. Today was special because it was the first time I used their in-store pet wash. My poodles get groomed every 12 weeks but if they aren't bathed in between they stink. I have been using the self wash service at pet food express in Los Gatos which is good, today I experienced the next level. The bath is in its own room (imagine no distractions from other barking dogs or clouds of fur flying through the air, no disrespect to shedders but it was easier on my own allergies) and the tub was spotless with an ergonomic set up, so no worries about slipping or a sore back. There's a countdown timer and a suggestion for the amount of time to spend on each step, perfect! The air dryer has two speeds and was strong enough to get them dry. Great experience all around! My visits are usually on weekends and I have never felt rushed or that the store in under staffed. There's no question that small business provides enormous benefits to our community, but time and money are tight and I can't always connect to these businesses the way I would like. But, Ben's goes above and beyond to make visits convenient, prices on the healthiest dog food are less than purchasing from online pet food suppliers (please don't use Amazon for dog food. It can be stored without concern for changes in temperature and the moisture in the food can get moldy and make your pets sick). Staff is exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. We are from socal and we ran out of our dogs special raw food. The website showed this place carried it and it felt like home. Very friendly and reminded me of my home pet store. They have all the unique and high quality raw and dry dog foods that I feed my babies. I couldn't do the math on how much I needed so one of the workers helped and she was super nice. I always support local, but their customer service is hit and miss here (mainly in the miss). I come here to get some birthday treats for mine and others dogs, as well as other natural home flea remedies here, But sometimes I would just resort to Amazon if I have a gift card because products tend to be $5 -$10 cheaper than in store. Can't say enough amazing things about this store!!This was my second time at this location. The first time it was super busy so we just did a quick walk through to see all that they had. I went back this past Friday 10/24 and was immediately greeted by Isabella and she asked me if I needed help finding something. My GSP have been having tummy issues for the past few months and I've been struggling to find a food that works for him. I came in to check out the Green Juju brand and Isabella helped me find all of the products and gave me so much information about starting my dog on a raw diet. If you're looking to support a locally owned business this is the shop for you! I came in during the evening around 6:30pm to pickup some cat food for my friend. (This store is the only local store that sells the specific brand that my friend's cat can eat.) I walked in and was greeted right away and two ladies helped me with my friends order. They were very attentive and even mentioned a free offer for the food and they were patient when I had to call my friend to confirm food details. BEWARE: BAIT & SWITCH I asked about the return policy as I was purchasing a new food recommended to me for training. Told: "save receipt and if 50% still remaing can return for 100% refund." I explained that as I lived 15 miles away, I'd purchase and open the bag in the store. If my dog didn't like it, I'd return it on the spot ( I have done this at Pet Food Express). I can stay here for a while looking at the different foods and treats for my puppy. We tried the bath area and liked it! You get a free bath on your birthday lol. I would say this is like a Whole Foods for our pets! Most if not all the brands are super great, high-quality options for dogs and cats. I was looking for a new freeze-dried dog food and the staff was super helpful in giving great recommendations. They have a lot of frozen/raw dog and cat food choices compared to other pet stores. We have been coming to Ben's Barketplace since it opened a few years ago. Initially, we were on the hunt to help our GSD who had been suffering from GI issues for years and had also started developing severe skin allergies. Our Vet was at a loss and recommended prescription dog food (the kibble looked like white Kix cereal) and daily medication for the allergies. In our guts we knew there had to be a healthier and better alternative but didn't know where to turn. As a Nurse dog Mom, and a Paramedic/Firefighter dog Dad, we aren't super savvy with Veterinary Medicine, but knew enough to know he was in trouble. Well, we stumbled on this gem of a place and their Encyclopedia of a manager, Jeff. He must have spent almost an hour with us, on probably more than one occasion, educating us about certain diet options. Fairly quickly we got into a routine that worked, and since then, Dexter hasn't had one issue. This is from a dog who had GI issues from the day we got him at 8 weeks old, that continued for years. He is now 7 (tomorrow!) and has been at his healthiest for the last few years. At his vet appointment last month, the Vet said "whatever you're doing, don't stop, it's obviously working". Anyway, long story long, we now have another 1 year old GSD/Rottie mix rescue who is on the same diet and thriving. Having 2 large, and I mean large, dogs to feed means we are at Ben's quite often and Jeff, and the entire staff is always so helpful. They probably see my significant other more, because he can actually carry the cases of food we buy, but I am certainly behind the scenes cheering this store on ;) Thank you for all of the continued help and amazing customer service. I ended up leaving with like 5+ different types of samples to try! The store is super cute and very health-oriented....think Whole Foods for your pup! There is a big display for chews and they have a ton of different treat options. If you raw-feed your dog, this is the place for you! After trying out a few of the samples, we decided to go with a baked kibble option. Prices are affordable (like on par with Amazon or cheaper) and they carry a lot of our favorite brands. Jeff, the store manager was the most knowledgeable person I have come across in a long time, he gave us so much information on nutrition for our dogs, as well as product information, a plethora of IG accounts to follow for more knowledge, and he was just an overall wonderful human being, with such a nice and positive vibe! She took me around the store and showed me different kibble that she recommended and even deal dove into the ingredients list with me. She was so friendly and really eager to help. I purchased Carna4 per her recommendation. The gal at the register was also so kind and we talked about raw food (my favorite topic). I wish they would open a store closer to me (Santa Cruz) so I could visit weekly!! This is the cleanest, friendliest, and well stocked store. They know all things raw and actually GOOD for your dog. Unhealthy! High Carbs! All fillers! Transitioned my dogs to Raised right! He not only lost weight but his lumps went away that my vet told me were fatty tissues.
