Had a wonderful experience here last night. We stopped by after dinner to look at cat carriers. When we walked in we were warmly greeted. It's a huge place inside. We walked around and looked at the birds, lizards and hamsters. While we were looking around, two employees asked us if we needed help. I let them know we were looking for a cat carrier that opens at the top. They knew exactly what I was looking for and walked us over to that section. The young ladies gave some great advice on which carriers would be the best options. Both of them also have cats and use these carriers. That really helped with our decision. We chose the one they highly recommended, which was not the overpriced one. We made our way to the checkout and made our purchase. It was fast and efficient. I will definitely come back here in the future because of their great customer service and variety of pet products. read more

I called ahead and scheduled Pepper's grooming appointment for 11:30 a.m. and was told it would take about three hours. I've used PetSmart grooming at locations across the country for years, making this by far the worst experience I've had. Three hours passed without any notification. When I returned to check on Pepper, I learned she hadn't even been started and her groomer, Olga, was on break. I came back 30 minutes later, and after four and a half hours Pepper was still waiting in a cage. I was then told it would be at least another hour before they could begin. Delays happen. Failing to communicate is a choice. One phone call or txt would have allowed me to adjust my plans instead of spending my afternoon waiting while my dog sat in a cage. What happened next was even more disappointing. When I asked Jessica at the front desk whether she thought this was acceptable, she immediately defended Olga instead of acknowledging the lack of communication or trying to make things right. Aside from a brief apology, there was no accountability and no concern for the customer experience. This wasn't just a scheduling issue--it was a complete customer service failure. The only plus about this store are their groomers. They are great. The rest of the staff in the store are AWFUL! They all seem angry and unhappy. It is the worst shopping experience but I go as it is right next to my house and they have a dog food my dog can tolerate. Otherwise I cannot stand this location or staff. Groomers are great. The rest of the staff needs to find new jobs if they hate working in a pet store so much. I also think k how they adopt animals is not humane. You can't even pet the cats. So happy with our winter white hamster! Customer service was great overall, but we did have to come by twice to get our pet. Originally, we were told that if there are only two staff working, they can't give customers animals. It would have been nice to know that before driving over, so if you want even a gentle hamster, plan your trip accordingly. My children love their new furry fried. She's gentle, sweet, and loving. I have been going to PetSmart for years, unfortunately this is the one place that has everything I need for my pets, including grooming and it is convenient. That being said, I dislike every visit, I always come away feeling irritated and abgry. There is one older man who I knew from the PetSmart in Sunnyvale, except for him, every single person working there have terrible customer service! They are all very good friends but they do not seem to care about the customers. Whether it is a simple question or walking me to a purchase I can't find, I feel like they are doing me a very big favor by helping me. Attitude and irritated faces! This week, my dog had a grooming appt. at 9am and on previous visits, you were able to go early and drop off for grooming. This time I got there about 12 minutes before 9am for a 9am appt. I rang the bell outside sicee the store was not open yet and which is the usual way to drop off for grooming. The manager, I don't even want to get started on his attitude, opened the door asked me if the grooming was at 9 and them told me that I was 12 minutes early and that the staff had not clocked in yet and shut the door in my face. No, 'Good Morning', no ' the process has changed', nothing!!! Their rewards program is also not as great as it was before the pandemic. I am very disappointed with my recent experience on 6/9/25 at PetSmart Grooming. I scheduled an appointment over a month ago for my dog and received no notification that it had been canceled. When I arrived for the appointment, I was informed that the groomer had quit and that there was no appointment on the schedule. What made the situation worse was the way it was handled by management. When I spoke with the manager, he immediately dismissed my concerns, insisted that I was never on the appointment book, and walked away without making any effort to investigate the issue or offer an apology. After wasting my time and making a trip for an appointment that PetSmart failed to honor, I asked if there was any discount or accommodation available for the inconvenience. The manager responded that he might offer a senior citizen discount if I came in on a Tuesday. I found this response dismissive and unprofessional. I understand that staffing issues happen, but customers should be notified when appointments are canceled, and concerns should be treated with respect. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and poor customer service left me feeling ignored and undervalued. What a waste of my day off. read more

The manager needs to be retrained on proper customer service methods. He seemed angry that he had to help customers, as though we were bothering him. No greeting from him, asking did I find everything okay, or any positive interaction. I asked for a price check since it was different online and he demanded I show him very rudely. It seemed a like he hates his job. A job behind the scenes there might be a better fit for him. Away from customers. I won't be back and I advise all other shoppers to stop coming here. This is the third time he's been rude, aggressive in his tone, and just out right angry at everyone around him. Petsmart needs to take action as many other reviews mention him. He was the only person who offered a real solution -- helping me find a vegetarian, chicken-free option with pumpkin for digestion as a temporary food until my dog's real vet can send the correct prescription. Meanwhile, Banfield (inside this store) tried to sell me an expensive chicken-based food my vet told me to avoid, and their staff became so hostile they threatened to call the police when I questioned the prescription. PetSmart's employee de-escalated and actually cared about helping my dog. If I could give zero stars I would. This is the weirdest run PetSmart I have ever been to. I went to return a Stella and chewy turkey dried treat that I have bought on clearance. When I opened the package it smelled rotten and it looked like sawdust. It was disgusting. I took it back and the girl that worked accusing me of trying to take this back last week. I was out of town last week for the entire week and could absolutely prove it. No wonder that person tried to take it back. I'm not going to fight with this girl for eight dollars. I bought a 40 gallon reptile tank and had help taking it to my car. However, the tank was bigger than I had anticipated and wouldn't fit in my car. The two women who were helping me were very unfriendly. I asked if I could pick it up in the morning and they said no, they can't have things laying around. Wtf? They have a whole store full of things laying around! They acted like I really put them out. With that comment and the fact that the only solution they had was to refund my purchase led me to decide not to repurchase. It really was a horrible experience. I love this PetSmart! The staff are always very friendly and helpful. My dog gets groomed here, and I couldn't be happier. He came in as a puppy, and he started with the puppy trim. His groomer helped him slowly get used to the grooming process. I was able to leave food and treats to help him. She even taught him the "paw" command for grooming. I like that their policy is to stop if the dog can't tolerate anymore. They really work to make sure it's a positive experience for your dog. I also did the curbside pickup for dog food and toys. It was so easy that I could just park outside. It was helpful because I didn't want to come all the way over to the store if they didn't have the exact items I wanted in stock. Oh yes, my local PetSmart. I have been coming here for the past two years and it's pretty cool. I mostly buy things for my pet birds here and they seem to like everything I get from here. The price of everything for the birds is okay and all items bought here seem to last longer. I really like the bird food they have here it's very nutritious and the animals seem to enjoy it. Drawback: I wish this store was stocked better because I had a hard time finding some things on various occasions I am here. Some of the staff members here are bit iffy because they don't seem to have the cheerfulness that I am looking for. Pet stores became my guilty pleasure ever since I had gotten my cats and even more so during the pandemic. I used to live in an area where a basic pet store was a bit of a drive out, so being in the center of so many has been really enjoyable! I came by this PetSmart to find Tiki Cat cat food - which, they had, but they didn't have enough cans to get me beyond a few days worth for my cats. I ended up finding a comparable option and buying more of that to make up for it, which was a bit disappointing but we made it through! I love seeing the variety of adoptable rodents here and the variety of toys, costumes, clothing - there's a lot to see! I didn't leave with anything except the cat food that we needed, but it was great to be able to see an in person selection instead of just purchasing online. Overall I had a good experience here, I think I just may have missed the shipment day is all! Another thing I found neat was being able to make your own pet tag here! Usually I've seen it behind the counter, so it's cool to make your own tag without any chuckles over the sweet and silly names of your pet! I definitely recommend supporting your local pet store for all of your needs, especially because there's a lot of in person experiences you could be missing out on! read more

It feels like a smaller location than others, but it seems to have everything else most Petsmart's have. PARKING: Shared with the shopping plaza. STAFF: I have to say the staff here are nice. The girl at the register told me yes they price match with Chewy. She suggested downloading the Chewy app to easily scan bar codes and compare prices. DON'T FORGET TO PRICE MATCH! It's so easy for them to fix the price. OUTSIDE: Once a month there's an adoption "fair" put on by BASH - bay area siberian husky so Google it if you're interested in adopting a husky of your own. I needed to take my cat in to get her nails trimmed. Based on my Vet's recommendation I called Petsmart to schedule an appointment. Everything was confirmed - date/time and groomer. When I went in for the appointment, I was turned away because they did not know about the appointment. Evidently, they need to make sure they are also not grooming dogs at the same time. When I asked who I can complain to in order to remedy the situation, they did not know. Furthermore, they said this is evidently an ongoing issue and they have turned away multiple people. As of this time, I would not recommend that you take your cat in for grooming, since evidently you won't know for sure if you actually have an appointment, and there seems to be no remedy for that. In my case, I had to take time from work and traumatize my poor cat for no reason. :) I will let my vet know as well, so they don't have them on the recommendation list. ---- Update ----- I contacted Petsmart and let them know about the scheduling mishap. They explained that it was a miscommunication between their central scheduling location and the store. Basically, they did not know the hours when the store could groom cats. I went ahead and rescheduled for a couple of days later. I did ask if they were sure this time it was going to work :) I actually got a call on the day of my appointment, letting me know they had an earlier appointment. I took my cat in, and everything went very smoothly. The groomer was very professional and nice and my cat was a good girl. All in all a positive experience. Hopefully everything is sorted out and I plan on going back. If you do make an appointment be sure that it is actually verified. Changing my rating for now. They made it right. read more

I would never come here again just for my own safety. I just had the worst interaction with the "Manager" Mike Gonzalez. He said "he was the manager but not" so who knows? I tried to return a front loading pet carrier that I hadn't used because I wanted to exchange it for a top loading carrier instead after getting some advice from the vet. Mike said that he wasn't going to take it because it seemed used to him. He then proceeded to scream at me "LEAVE THE STORE OR I'M GOING TO CALL THE POLICE!!!" while I was in the middle of looking up the return policy since I didn't agree that it looked used and wanted to double check what the policy is to see if it even mentions "being used". Super unprofessional and concerning that he would react like that. I know that tension is high with COVID but that was totally uncalled for which makes me thinks that he was on something or at the very least, a super unstable/angry person in general hence the safety concerns about coming to this store in the future. I'll be returning tomorrow (for my last time) to hopefully talk to a more reasonable and/or real manager to get my money back. I would recommend going with safeway that's next door for basic needs like food/treats or shop online so you don't have to be scared shitless by a "manager". He called me up and apologized for Mike's behavior. I ended up getting a return and he offered to throw in a free cat toy. I'm still uneasy going to this store for future purchases just because I know Mike works there and considering how irrational he behaved previously, I wouldn't be surprised if he retaliated in the future since he knows what I look like. PetsMart should not carry Chinchillas for sale. These are nocturnal creatures and the enclosures that they are held impact them which causes stress. There is also plastic items which is not good for Chinchillas since their habit is to chew. They require safe wood items to chew which is not made available to them. I've actually purchased a few chew sticks and donated to the Chinchillas at this store. Watching them being forced to stay awake during store hours is sad. I wanted to buy some guinea pig Christmas gifts but walked out after being yelled at about there only being one line and I'll get to you when I get to you in a rude tone. Line to pay was down the dog toy aisle. One register. when the second register opened up there was no way to know that they still wanted one line and I got yelled at. I like to walk to this place from home and walk around the place hoping to discover a python or something lying around. Today I was looking for 7-day Betta fish feeding pods while away from home. I was unsure between 2 different brands and the staff helped me pick the one with a better review. I have had bought fish from here too and the staff is really helpful in answering all your questions as many times you ask. They also provide free water checkups for your aquarium and suggest if you need water conditioner. Though the place is open till 8 pm, the fish section is usually closed an hour before that so if you reach after 7 pm and want to get fish, I believe you will have to come back next day. read more

I have been getting fish for my 10 gallon tank for years. I usually go to the PetSmart on Coleman and Taylor. I decided to go to this PetSmart on Hamilton because it was on the way home from lunch with friends. I went to purchase fish and the sales person told me that I can only get one platy fish per 10 gallon tank. I have never heard this before in my life. I have never had a problem with overcrowding in my tank. I am so frustrated and decided to leave and not argue. I have been told in the past a 1 inch fish per gallon. I was a regular who went in weekly to get cat food and treats. Tonite was the worst customer service experience. I buy a certain size prescribed cat food monthly from same store. Tonite they were out and so I asked clerk and without asking manager or double checking (she is new) said nope that's the only size they carry and I said no I buy the smaller one monthly. She insists so finally calls manager who says the same thing that they only carry the big bag(even though all I buy monthly is the small bag). So he checks stock in back and comes out and again says they only carry that size or there would be a space for the smaller bag. So I walk him over and show him the space. His reaction "oh you must have been lucky because we rarely have that in stock" even though it's always here all the previous times. So I said what bothered me the most was he and the clerk are dismissive of what a regular customer was telling to them. Than he said "well if it's an apology you want than I am sorry ma'am". I reiterated I am not asking for an apology but just don't be dismissive of what your customer is telling you. Than I left and will never return to this store. I DO NOT RECOMMEND the Campbell petsmart. Clerks are always on their cellphone and don't offer help finding things. Petsmart grooming is DEAD to me! I brought our dog here to get groomed during the pandemic and it was really nice. He was not traumatized and since he needed a bath plus good brushing, I made an appointment here. My unhappiness started because the Almaden location is dumb. When I brought in his shot records they made a mistake. His rabies shot is good for 3 years and apparently they put 2 or something. Anyways, in May when I brought in my dog for his grooming, I supplied his vaccination report to correct the mistake. Apparently they accepted him but did not update his records in the computer. Long and short of it, I went in without his shot records and they could not accept him. Don't get me wrong, I totally understand about proper vaccination! But when it is plain that someone in Petsmart has made a mistake, accept my dog and I can drive home to get the records. What is the big deal?
