Do not get your pet groomed here. They accused my dog of biting the groomer as she tried to groom him. He is a service animal and has never ever bitten a dog or person ever. The lady there named Changson, knicked the side of his eye and made it bleed. She does not speak English and could not communicate with me on the grooming. I cancelled my membership which I've had for the past several years and they lost all my thousands of dollars in future purchases. All because of this woman. On a whim my daughters, and I went to this Petco to research starting an aquarium. We had done minimal research in advance, and we're super impressed by the friendliness of the staff. Sandra stepped away from her responsibilities and had someone assist us with starting our aquarium. He patiently answered our endless questions. He repeated information that I needed clarification on without making me feel burdensome. He reassured me that the overwhelmed feeling I had is normal and that it would get better once we got started. I had not intended on buying anything that day, only browsing. However, we walked away with an aquarium, decor, and a stand. We look forward to getting our aquarium started with this Petco. Beware!!! Do not hire Bianca to groom your pet. She is terribly trained and traumatized my family by destroying my Pomeranians coat. For some reason she kept saying he had to be shaved from matting when he just needed to be brushed a little he was not matted. After explicitly saying not to shave him she starts off the grooming by running the shears through his coat. I started to wave at her to stop but alas it was too late. Then she tried to return my dog half shaved no bath nothing done!!! Then after getting the manager involved she tried to say my family had approved the shaving!!! I recently adopted a puppy from the HSSV branch here and got a coupon for my first chunk of puppy needs. The staff here was helpful in terms of picking out the right crate, food, toys, chew, etc. The staff checking us out thoroughly went through all the coupons in their huge coupon book to give us the best savings too. My puppy is currently going through some puppy training with Genevieve, the trainer, and she has been excellent! Came in for pet grooming services. My Appointment was at 8:30am. I arrived 10mins early waited in the parking lot. When it was 8:30, I called the number given within the text message (408) 866-8773; ext 1. The number kept going to voicemail, I waited 15mins and kept knocking on the door. I saw people moving about in the store. Eventually another couple with a dog arrived and then someone from the store finally came to the door. I told her I've been calling my appointment was at 8:30. She asked me what number I was calling and I told her from the number within the text message and she questioned me again and I had to repeat myself. My dog was a few months behind on his rabies shot, so I was declined services. Which I'm okay with and did not know that was a rule. I've been to this Petco, a handful of times, and every employee I've met there has always greeted me or asked if they could pet my puppies as we walk through the isles. Everyone seems very welcoming and the items throughout the store are easy to find. There's also a grooming Section in the back of the store, which they had open viewing windows to watch your own animal/pet being groomed with hand written signs, asking one not to videotape. Something seriously worrisome about the grooming. All I can say is that I was met with an overly abrasive person that was late for the session as if she was upset she had to come to work. Stated my dog was an aggress biter with a history. I've been coming to PetCo for over 5 years for grooming services - the only place I've been to and I've never heard a complaint of this magnitude. My latest experience at this location had me reach out to new groomers. I got the impression my dog was abused or mishandled in some way because when I went back to retrieve her, she was extremely scared and cowards next to the person responsible. Very aggressive and accusatory woman. Fortunately I found a great replacement groomer but it's a shame ever since they closed the Los Gatos location that the Saratoga location was the only one left in the area with a brand I use to trust. We had an awful experience at the grooming center two weeks ago. We dropped our puppy off for a 9:30 AM appointment and were not called to pick him up until 6:30 PM. We called multiple times throughout the day to check on him and were assured he would be finished soon. While there, he had no access to food, water or potty breaks for the nine hours he was there. He was shaking when we picked him up and it took multiple days for him to begin acting like himself after returning home. We paid for a standard bath and haircut. In addition, we paid for extra services including teeth brushing and nail care, none of which was completed in the 9 hour window our puppy was there. We were still charged. The store was non responsive despite multiple calls and attempts to request a refund for the services not performed. Do not bring your dog here for grooming unless you want them to endure a day of abuse. read more

First three pictures are him after grooming and the fourth photo is before grooming. I'm not the type to leave bad reviews but I really wish I could give this place negative stars. First of all, my dog is a 6lbs toy poodle. According to their website, any dog under 10lbs should be considered XS. When I arrived to pick up my dog, the grooming manager insisted that he's a medium-sized dog and charged me for a 25-50lbs dog. Next, they clearly did not care enough to even his fur out. You can see in the photo attached, his neck hair is all over the place. After we got home it took me 5 seconds to cut that off...how hard is that?? They also somehow messed up his head...he's a poodle so he's not supposed to have this "middle part" that they gave him. Their groomers are definitely not trained to groom according to breed standards as they claim to be. In addition to that, they clearly did not brush him out before drying or even bothered to brush at all (just look at his tail). I'm also attaching a photo of my clothes after I picked him up...he's a non-shedding dog so they either did not clean up his hair after the groom, or he was left in an unsanitary crate. When I called to express my dissatisfaction, the grooming salon manager was extremely unprofessional and did not even apologize for the negative experience. Moreover, she blamed my dog for all the aforementioned issues. Overall I'm appalled by their lack of skill, care, and professionalism. They clearly do not care about their customers (or their dogs), and it's evident that they're just clocking in their hours. I hope this review saves at least one pup from a horrendous experience at Petco grooming. read more

I have a groomer which I normally take my dog to but occasionally I stop by here to get my dogs nail trim. The groomers are always very nice and greet us. It is a warning to pet parents! Do not come to Vetco inside Petco 271/San Jose, CA, or any location. Don't mix the vet service and store. The Petco store is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful, but once you get involved with Vetco or Grooming, it's unprofessional from the team and the veterinarian. Our Experience: The mobile pet service from the crew at Vetco, Bryanna N. and Stephanie B., working our appt day, and vet Amanda Clouser, license #vet22645, were rude and unprofessional. The vet didn't speak to us the entire time, had no acknowledgment, did not make eye contact, and had her back toward us. There was no communication when it was time for the oral heartworm. Instead of asking us to remove the muzzle, they told me to give it at home. I asked that they do it there. The check-in person returned the dog to the table and did it herself while the vet turned away and then placed our pet on the middle of the floor behind her and walked away. The dog was not secure, and no one had the leash. She left the dog and didn't say a word. Their demeanor and actions are not acceptable. I asked if we were done, no communication, no thank you. Have a nice day, nothing. As we left, I said her service was rude. While waiting up front to speak with management, we saw the vet, Amanda Clouser, license #vet22645 walking towards the exit. We said excuse me several times. She ignored us and proceeded to walk out to her car. Her attitude in her profession is unbelievable. We trusted/allowed you to care for our pet, but you can't have a conversation about the service we just received. Not even an apology or asking if the service was okay with staff given what had all happened. Weird. The filthy dressed, hair in six colors, messy ponytail with a bull piercing, watch out for her. The handling of our pet was improper. She observed we were taking precautions by holding our pet and not allowing him on the dirty ground, knowing not all the shots had not been done. Placing a new puppy on the floor where other animals have been is not recommended. The service: Unprofessional, rude to customers, and doesn't have the decency to hand our dog to us, look at us, and thank us. We canceled all appointments and will spread the word about this business on other platforms. Petco: Jenn, the manager at Petco, is a lovely woman. She assured us that she would contact the Vetco management by email and review the video footage. We hope she keeps her word and follows through. Please, PETCO, don't bring these people "crew" back if you want to keep customers - families walk in and out of your business every day and come to care for their pets, but don't expect to be treated as such, especially in front of their kids. read more

Probably one of the cleanest and coolest petcos ever. My boyfriend and I came in to visit some cats and play with them in the humane society, but took some time to get there because we were distracted by the doggie daycare. The dogs were so cute and were roaming freely in the room instead of being put in cages the whole time which was great to see. We then went to the humane society, and visited the kittens in the back room. My boyfriend fell in love with Earl and played with him for a good 15 minutes. He couldn't adopt, but he wished he could! We then went to one of the rooms and played with Meowth, an energetic kitten. She loved my boyfriend and sat in his lap! Along with cats, they also have guinea pics and rabbits to adopt. I only saw a few rabbits though. He also ended up getting a betta fish and the cashier at the front was really helpful on recommending him things to get for his fish. The worst grooming experience. This is the second time I went to the Saratoga location. The first appointment the groomer never showed up for her scheduled appointment. I waited half an hour before staff letting me know that no one was going to show up. I have been going to the Petco in Los Gatos for five years until they shut down. The groomers at the Los Gatos location were wonderful. I thought I would give Saratoga another try, as it is the closest. I booked just a bath appointment for my 15 pound Whoodle. I arrive at 9:00 for her 9:15 appointment. I get a call an HOUR later, saying unfortunately she is way too aggressive to come pick her up. I was shocked, as she has never bit anyone or showed aggressive behavior. When I got there within two minutes I questioned why she was kenneled for an hour. No response for that. I get attitude that there are numerous notes in her file warning that she is "extremely" aggressive. I asked why I had never been told that in five years. No answer. If this is true, I am quite upset that in five years not one groomer has conveyed that to me. I believe this is something that Petco should let dog owners know. If you want your dog kenneled for an hour before they start the services, then this is the place for you! I will never step foot in a Petco ever again! read more

This place is located in the shopping plaza where the AMC theatre is. I called them to see if a particular brand of cat food was available & I got cut off numerous times. I doubt that they bother answering the phone there. Thankfully this store is located close to where I live. The cat food was hard to find since there are no big signs in the aisles. Even though I wear glasses, it was still hard for me to see the small sign at the side of each aisle. It's located sort of in the middle of the store on the side. Anyways, the store is clean & they have a big selection of items. I didn't find the almost impossible to find cat food there, but I did find a lot of different type of mousse & gravy only blends that her royal pickiness (my cat) loves. She inhales stuff like that, lol. She deserves the best. She's a spoiled fluffy bratt, lol. I love her more than anything in this world. I ended up buying 4 or 5 different brands. Hopefully she'll like one of them. If not, I guess I'll need to keep getting ripped off by Amazon as that's the only place I've been able to find it at for awhile. It cost almost $5 a pack! Yesterday i was denied the ability to purchase a $9 fish for my children - KAYLA SPOKE DOWM ON ME AND STATED THAT I DIDNT LOOK LIKE I COULD PROVIDE THIS FISH A HOME. Looked down on me multiple times stating that I didn't know the care for a little fish when I let her know I have 4 more beta at home that I have purchase from this establishment prior, she just flat out refused me the sale. Idk if it's because I had just come from working out and didn't look my best but I felt so discriminated by my appearance OR maybe because I got a little upset and she acted as tho "she didn't feel safe" maybe it was because I'm brown.... I asked to speak to the manager, and she proceeded to tell me that she was the manager. I asked to speak with the assistant manager, she whispered for two seconds and completely walked way, I proceeded to speak to nick , he didn't even have a care for what I had to say, and just flat out said no . later found out that was untrue about Kayla being manager , she s a shift lead . She's a liar Fast forward to the next day as my white husband went in to purchase the fish our kids so desperately wanted , another cashier plus Kayla we're at the register. Nick and Kayla saw him with me and he was not asked the same questions or was even questioned on his ability to care for this fish . Im never this person but this could not be a more clear example of discrimination . I wasn't dressed in workout clothes and my children were with me . Kayla has lgtbq stickers all over her name tag , as someone that comes from a group that constantly deals with discrimination you'd think "she, him ,they" would carry themselves in a more loving accepting way , not to harass a woman than wanted to do something nice for her children... and if you really were passionate about the fish why not express those same values the next day again when we came in to purchase the same fish . This used to be one of the better Petco stores. But my visit today revealed that the aquatics department has gone downhill quite a bit. Unfortunately, I've seen some pretty sad aquariums in stores, but I've never seen a rookie mistake like putting incompatible fish in the same tank. @Petco you cannot combine South American cichlids and African cichlids. You can't combine African cichlids with anything but other African cichlids. That's why your poor Oscars are getting beaten all to hell. It's animal abuse at a freakin' pet store. If they don't understand basic fish compatibility, how are they educating customers? I was tempted to buy the Oscars and set up a new tank just to save them. But then I realized I can't save all the mistreated fish in the world, so I instead reported this to a check out clerk and wrote this review. Hope they see it. I'll check on them tomorrow. read more

I love this Petco! It's like an emporium for animal lovers. I love the fact that I can buy treats in bulk and of my choice. My fur babies absolutely love the cookies they sell that you fill the bag yourself with. They literally carry almost everything you need. I can be here for hours just swooping up on things for my clan. Needless to say I also get a kick out of watching people getting their pets groomed. What can I say, I'm a softy for animals! Never had any issues with the staff and they are friendly and professional and willing to help out however they can. I usually take my dog for a nail trim at the Los Gatos location but they have no groomers now I called this Petco yesterday asking for an appointment for my dog, the person said nail trim is a walk in service no appointment needed, they said just come before 4pm. I came today at 1pm, they said they couldn't do, come back at 3. This is why I wanted to make an appointment. I said I couldn't come back today, asked again to make an appointment so I don't have to bring my 70 lb geriatric dog in for nothing, they said no appointment for nail trim, just come in. I give up. First time there for grooming and won't be back. I understand they're short-staffed but just let me make an appointment so I don't waste time, gas money and stress on my dog. Frustrating. read more
