Food was bland, (except for the onion soup, that was the only good thing) portions were small. I usually eat one third of the usual portions other Benihana's give, but not on this one, I ate it all. But the most disappointing part was the "show" that you expect from this type of place. It was mediocre. Service was okay. However, we were celebrating a birthday, and server asked if the bday girl wanted ice cream, she didn't (freezing outside for ice cream) They didn't have any other option, so there's that. She asked her if she wanted her to sing happy bday!!! Would anyone say yes if put on the spot??? Why would you ask that? We came to celebrate a bday, sing happy bday or bring a slice of cake with a candle. For the price we pay a slice of cake with a candle should be given without a question!!!! So disappointing. Terrible service . Group of 5 only served 3 of us forgot 2 of our food completely , I had to go and politely ask them where my food was. We had a great time her for our celebration! Yes it was loud but that was to be expected. There were tons of birthday celebrations. The waiter and chef were great. It was busy for a week night but everything was perfect. The food was perfect from start to finish and delicious. Yes, the restaurant does need some major dusting and some few maintenance/ repairs. But the experience for hibachi was spot on. Perfect for couples and for families and kids. I also noticed that the staff asked if anyone had a food allergy. We went to Benihana Wheeling for our parent's 38th wedding anniversary. Person who cooked the food was nice and friendly. Others were looking rude all the time.. no smiling face at all. From the time we entered till we exited, it was difficult atmosphere, quite tense to be honest. Portion sizes were mediocre. Spend 150$ for four and all are still hungry. We had to remind of the things included in the order and didn't get the hibachi shrimp appetizer which was included in the 5 course meal for avocado tartar salmon dish even though I asked specifically for it. Green tea ice cream had ice bits in it and didn't taste good. Banana tempura and onion soup were the only things good. Horrible experience. Won't recommend at all. Spend money elsewhere. read more

Our family visits Benihana now and then to celebrate birthdays, largely because we receive a coupon for a free dinner, as well as the special dining experience at the hibachi tables. My experience has been that the food, which is prepared in bulk on the tables by a chef, is consistently average to mediocre. On our most recent visit, the miso soup was salty and lacking any flavor complexity. The salad was a simple iceberg mix with a dollop of dressing. Because of the nature of the meal preparation - one course and group of entrees at a time, the serving pace is slow. Note that dinners include steamed rice: if you want fried rice, it's $3.50 extra - wow! Our server took our beverage order as soon as we sat down and then disappeared until the meal was at an end, making it difficult to get refills. I should point out that seating around the table is somewhat cramped, and the eating space per person is minimal. I also think that the prices are a bit high. All in all, one goes to Benihana largely for the "show;" i.e. the chef's performance preparing the slow-paced meal. But, for me, after experiencing it several times, I prefer other dining experiences. read more

We came on Christmas Eve to celebrate my nephew's birthday. For birthdays they print out a group picture and normally provide complimentary ice cream but they catered to his dairy allergy and provided a small bowl of fruit instead, and sang a festive happy birthday with tambourines. As far as food and show, all teppanyaki places are pretty similar. I've been to all the local ones like Ron of Japan and Tsukasa, but never been to a Benihana. I will say that Benihana has the best fried rice out of the all the places I've tried, but if you're looking for golden shrimp you won't find it here. We saw the usual tricks: the onion train, the fried rice beating heart. No flipping food in our mouths, but I did see it at a neighboring table. I got the salmon and I like that it comes with some stir fried udon and asparagus. Always upgrade with the fried rice! This Benihana location has been here forever and you can tell by the sticky carpet and surfaces. But the upside is that this just means the grill is well seasoned and your food will be extra flavorful. read more

I've been to this Benihana a few times pre-pandemic and have enjoyed my experience. With the pandemic, I've ordered food from them curbside a few times and it's every bit as wonderful. They had an awesome soup, salad, and fried rice, as well as various hibachi meats. Their entrees are too filling for me, so I usually go with a soup or salad as well as some sushi. I'm a big fan of their tempura shrimp rolls, among other things! Lots of great choices here. read more

So I ordered hibachi steak medium rare , shrimp And the trio seafood . Came with ginger salad that was excellent , I love the ginger dressing , I basically want to drink and bathe in it. I need to play with it and learn how to duplicate it, i It's so good with steamed white rice. The stock was good. It needed mor vegetables and had no noodles or fried onion. Just 2 sliver of dried button mushrooms and some dehydrated scallions . The vegetables were good the meat was disappointing was dryly and over cooked probably continued to cook in container. The scallops were delicious, the shrimp were a nice size but almost jerky like . The calamari were cut in rectangles and didn't taste good at all . I felt like Gordon Ramsey bring a bit critical eating these weird rectangles of calamari texture felt weird spongey , tasted odd. Steamed rice was excellent tasted right out of the steamer. The fried rice had a brown color with no taste and over cooked shrimp. The ginger dressing was okay but I would just like the ginger salad dressing with everything . It came with bags of green tea utensils but no chopstick that I requested . Not sure why I love Asian food to gobble up with chopsticks the service is very efficient , was packed nicely . But unfortunately for the dollars was overpriced and underwhelming . I think this needs to be dined in. The entrees get lost and over cooked in carry out. Next time I'll try the tonkatsu ramen or sushi. I was very lucky to have the man that waited on me ring me up I had a 30.00 birthday gift when you spend thirty , unfortunately the number on it we couldn't find so he maneuvered it where he used his discount it wasn't quite the thirty but close . This place is so good! My boyfriend and I came here pretty often, and though it isn't my favorite restaurant, it is pretty high on my list. It is definitely much more fun the first time around because everything is such a new and exciting experience when the chef is cooking your food, but the chef makes or breaks your experience here. The good is more expensive because you are paying for a show, but certain chefs just don't engage the table at all and some chefs don't do as many cool tricks as others. If you come here, I recommend the Emperor's Feast. It is a 6-course meal that comes with onion soup, salad, shrimp, and onions and zucchini, rice (I always get the chicken fried rice and it's my favorite part other than the steak), chicken and filet mignon, and ice cream for dessert. I've never had a bad meal here, but the filet is definitely better than the cheaper hibachi steak that comes with many other meals. The sushi here is pretty good too, though since they make the other food in front of you, it's a lame place to eat sushi, so I'd stick to getting sushi at a sushi restaurant. This place has a family atmosphere because many families seem to come for birthdays. They have communal seating because there are eight seats to one grill. I love Benihana and have been coming here for years! However, the last time I came in for dinner the prices had skyrocketed! I remember I used to order one protein on the hibachi grill for around $20. This time I could only choose 2 proteins and most were around $40! Plus extra $ for fried rice (which is delicious!). Almost double the old prices! I do still love the food though. The soup and salad were just like I remembered and the steak was extremely tender and amazing dipped in the yum yum sauce and soy based sauce. My family has always gone to Benihana for birthdays and other special occasions. This time it was me and my husband celebrating his bday. It was excellent! I can't say enough about our server Jaime; he was great! He was very friendly and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed and refilled our glasses and made sure the chef knew how we wanted our meat cooked. He even gave us a way to save a little money but also get gift cards by purchasing gift cards which would give us a reward of extra gift cards. Our chef was great too; he had cooked for us before and was wonderful. We felt a little weird having a table to ourselves since there weren't many people there (it was a bit early for dinner) but it ended up feeling like a special VIP experience! We ordered the wagyu which was phenomenal and everything tasted so good! We were sad to see the meal end! And again, Jaime our server was excellent and we even said we'd ask for him again at our next visit. We plan to visit soon since we took Jaime's offer up of buying gift cards and we got gift cards as a bonus to use at our next visit! We always have a great experience with Benihana. This location does Ra Sushi for delivery. The last 2 times I've ordered they messed up the order. How do you send out an order for ramen without the broth and also if it comes with pork why did it come with chicken??? Plus the hot food is always cold and the sushi isn't even that good. This place is getting rundown-- the carpeting and finished look unkept and the mgmt and staff really make you feel like a number-- moo. The food was good not great and our chef had a good vibe. What's there to say other than I've scored the jackpot being walking distance to this gem. It's dinner and entertainment all wrapped into one. If you've never been, it's definitely worth a trip (it can definitely get expensive). The food is freshly made in front of you in a group table by a chef that will make various food options while providing entertainment for everyone, even the children.
