It's been a years since I reviewed BluFish. I really enjoy visiting. We had reservations and were seated immediately. For the first time, we sat outside. It was a beautiful day. The service was also fantastic. We were greeted right away with bottled water and an offer for drinks. One of us had wine, and the rest of us had soft drinks. The menu is quite extensive - ranging from Japanese standards to Sushi. There were four of us and we ordered a variety of Maki rolls and Nigiri. Everything was delicious. BluFish is one of the better sushi restaurants in the north suburbs and one your should try if you've not been there before.

We went yesterday for a girls night out. Our server was fabulous and was very attentive. I would say some of the fish were a bit fishy for us but the sashimi salad, crispy tuna, soft shell crab, and the drink were great. I would for sure get the seaweed sashimi salad again if I come back. The dining experience and ambiance was good as well. They were well decorated.

I came in to Blufish for lunch and was so happy that they still have their lunch specials! I went with the salmon bento which comes with fried rice, crab rangoon, and your choice of California or spicy tuna maki. It was all very delicious and I love how their make their California rolls here. Blufish has a trendy vibe and plays what sounds like club music, even during a workday lunch. Everyone from the hostesses, servers, and bussers were very friendly. Food came out fast, but it was a bit of a long wait to settle our bill. One note, there is a large parking lot at this plaza, but finding a spot close to the restaurant during lunch on a weekday was difficult.

Bluefish never disappoints! It's always fresh and delicious with so many choices on the menu. I love their blazing Hamachi roll and lychee martini! Great service and ambience!

I can see this place is very popular, it was absolutely packed. It's not for us however. As the name would suggest, it's a sushi place, but the sushi wasn't right. The sashimi was too thick, the rice for the rolls didn't quite work. When we would ask the server to remove our plates that were essentially untouched, he never asked if there was anything wrong, and we didn't bother complaining. The tempura udon soup was perfect however, it's a standard to inspire to for the restaurant. We won't return to be honest. But objectively the ambiance is great, and the servers do try hard to ensure you have a good experience. They do seem understaffed and somewhat overwhelmed however.

Came for a light lunch and left stuffed! Can't go wrong with the crispy rice spicy tuna and the caterpillar rolls is always a go to. Fried rice is a huge portion and always a crowd favorite.

They are so quick with the food prep - which was perfect for delivery! I got their spicy fresh scallop roll, yellowtail roll, and California sunset roll. These rolls are LARGE and are so filling! However, the yellowfin roll didn't taste great. On the other hand, the spicy fresh scallop roll was so good, but I didn't love the snow crab filling for the California sunset roll. I typically adore snow crab, so this was a let down. Since the highs were high for the spicy fresh scallop roll, but the lows were pretty low, I had to average out this rating to 3 stars.

I do love the ambience at this restaurant, but my experience was not the best. Although friendly, our server was inattentive and made multiple mistakes. It also took a long time to get our food even though the restaurant was not busy. (Of course I understand there may have been a lot of carryouts.) I asked what the vegan options were and because I didn't want to have any maki, I decided to try the spicy tofu steak. I was told that the sauce was not vegan but still ordered the dish. When it finally arrived, I was disappointed that there was no sauce of any kind on it at all. It was extremely plain. I ended up putting soy sauce on it which made it better, but definitely not anything to rave about. Also, the miso soup was fish based so I couldn't eat that. If I come back, I will try the maki.

I think I've found my go to sushi spot in the suburbs! We came here on a busy Friday night and ended up sitting at the bar. Seating wise I would highly recommend getting reservations. Our bartender was great constantly checking on us and refilling our waters. Drinks wise my husband and I both go the bluefish martini. I think is get something else next time. My husband started with the uni shooter and he loved it. It was a pretty big shooter and he was super impressed. I started with the o toro and fatty yellow fish sashimi. Super big fish pieces and so so buttery. We shared the spicy deluxe maki combo which came with spicy octopus, crazy dragon roll, and blazing hamachi roll. We also got the short golden ebi. Our favorite roll was the spicy octopus. I love that when they say it's spicy, it actually has the hint of spice! Definitely coming back next time I have a sushi craving!

Such a good lunch menu! I got the beef bento and I was stuffed! It came with a bunch of meat, laid on top of plenty of grilled veggies, miso soup, a good amount of rice, 4 pieces of spicy tuna sushi with ginger and wasabi, and 2 crab rangoons with a sweet and sour sauce. Def would order from here again for lunch! I've been to bluefish before and have eaten there and I love the variety of sushi on the menu. Only complaint is that it's a bit pricy!! Still a fav though.

Just like with everything post covid, the prices have gone up here. But there are still some good options that will not break the bank. Nabeyaki udon for example, see my pic, is a fantastic soup choice that really can be shared if you wish, and still leave you with enough broth leftover to take home and make an entire other soup! Kudos to the service staff here, upon arrival, we were shown a table which was fine, but after being seated, I picked up immediately that there was an intense conversation at the neighboring table. I politely informed the host, asked if there was seating availability elsewhere, that we wished to move; and move us they did to an even better spot. So BIG thank you BluFish for accommodating us. True story, when we stood up to leave after dinner, it was later, I could see across the room that the intense convo table was still in play, so I was even more grateful. Also shout out to the bar here. When you are at it or walk by it, pay attention to what they have going on there, it's like a candy shop, they have everything. And the bar is not just about looks either. My favorite current jam that I recommend? They have a drink currently listed on the menu called "Local Punk" that features mescal. Not sure what is in it or how it is made but it is fantastic, definitely try it.

The quality and quantity of the food were very satisfactory back then. We were happy (and a bit surprised) that it had survived the pandemic, and was doing very well, judging from the evening that we dined in there. This N&C is smallish, during a sunny late summer evening, it was quite hot inside the eatery. The booths were pretty tight, even for petite people like me, and the tables and chairs could be a bit cleaner. We placed the order at the front desk. It took me repeating the whole order at least twice before the cashier understood what we were ordering. We had 3 bowls of noodles, each with slightly different choices. We ordered two bowls of Rigatoni Rosa, one with Parmesan Chicken and feta cheese, the other one had Grilled Chicken and no cheese. They ran out of rigatoni noodles and substituted them with cavatappi noodles. Then, they ran out of cavatappi noodles after two bowls, I opted for a bowl of Japanese Pan Noodles with Korean Meatballs on the side instead. A staff brought the orders to our table (we had a number). Portions seem to be on the small side. They skimped on broccoli on my bowl, and skimped on chicken on the other two bowls. The food was OK. I felt that the noodles from the Deerfield N&C seemed to be more flavorful with bigger portions. However, for a quick and easy fast-food dinner, this was OK.

Ordering was a breeze and the guys were always open to a conversation or giving suggestions. The restaurant was clean and the meal was always tasty. Just a note but the further away you move from any major city the fewer and harder it is to find great Asian food. The suburb is lucky to have them. The pandemic brought new staffing. Some were pleasant with customers though one lady, a supervisor had the wrong ideas of what customer service and proper etiquette is. Just the basics of my final visit. I took my family for lunch. We ordered lunch specials and a couple extra must-try plates. Two specials hit the table and the third was left waiting for her meal. Unbeknownst to us in the moment, her food was handed to a single patron there for his lunch. The place was filling up with a lunch rush but not so many that had complicated orders. Many were ordering similar lunch specials. Kung pao lunch special was popular. When her order finally arrived the supervisor realized she had given the wrong plate to the customer sitting some tables behind us. Mind you ten minutes had already passed. She quickly went over to him and asked what he had ordered. She then took the plate he was eating from and handed him the fresh plate. He was still holding a half eaten egg roll in his hand. Then she brought the quarter eaten plate and placed it in front of my mother. Before she could leave I stopped her and asked her what she was doing. She simply stated that was her lunch order. I told her she handed my mother someone else's food that they were eating and I watched the whole thing. Why didn't you take that to the back and make a completely new plate of food?! I paid the bill and got the F**k out. That's gross. Also, you gave the other patron new food but cannot do the same for our table?? This place is dead to me. If she could do that, it beckons the question of what else is happening behind the scenes.

I'll let his response to my concerns speak for itself. My family has been coming to this restaurant for years, which makes this experience not just disappointing, but very upsetting. We placed a pickup order totaling over $100. When I arrived, I was told our order had been given to another customer. Instead of immediately apologizing and remaking the food, the front desk employee spent several minutes trying to find the order, then called the customer who took it and asked him to come back with the food so it could be given to me. This is an obvious food safety issue. Once food leaves a restaurant, it should never be redistributed. When I calmly said I was not comfortable taking food that had already gone to someone else's home, the employee argued with me extensively, insisting it hadn't been touched. I had to repeatedly ask for the food to be remade. When the other customer returned, the employee made a pointed comment that the food would be thrown away "because we have to remake it," while looking directly at me. This felt accusatory, uncomfortable, and inappropriate, especially since the mistake was not mine. After waiting over 40 additional minutes, I was still charged the full amount. When I politely asked whether there would be any consideration for the delay, I was told, "No, we already lost money on you." Being spoken to that way after showing patience and understanding was shocking and deeply unprofessional. Unfortunately, the situation did not end there. When we later called, the same employee refused to provide a manager or owner's contact information, and refused to let us speak with a manager. We asked the employee for her name and she replied "What's YOUR name and what's your problem?" That comment alone reflects a serious lack of professionalism. We emailed management twice to address what happened and have received no response. Mistakes happen, but what is unacceptable is arguing with customers about food safety, making them feel blamed for expecting safe food, speaking to them disrespectfully, and then ignoring follow-up. Management should take this feedback seriously, because this experience reflects poorly on their business. We are very sad to no longer be customers of PNS after many years of enjoying their food.
