Food: had the noodles and got the poops from this place... maybe because the floors were dirty, maybe cause the tables were sticky, maybe because there was old stuck on food left behind in the crevasses of the flat grill they used to cook on... Services: the only thing they had going for it... our waitress was quick to get us refills and to ask us periodically if we needed anything... BUT then again, this is their job and given that it was a Wednesday Night it wasn't super busy... we can only hope this type of service is always happening regardless of time and day you go. Ambiance: it was pretty low key when we went, there were signs that this place can and may get busy during "peak" hours... bathroom smelled well... like a bathroom at a train station. If you came to expect that then there's no surprises I guess. I spent a lot of time seeing how long it would take for someone to clean up the mess on the floor where our cook stood but it stayed like that until we were about to leave... a bit disgusting having to look at it while eating. Clean the establishment, please! I understand it's summertime, but there's no reason we should be indoors surrounded by tons of flies while our food is being cooked out in the opening. You have to sweep and clean after the chefs are done. Food was left over at another station from another party that no one was at the entire time our party was there. Then our chef came to cook for us and when he left, there was even more food all over the floors and flies were everywhere!! I tried to get a to go container that was right next to me in one of those bookshelves. There were so many flies over there. I just said forget it. Our waiter did say he apologizes for that and that multiple people have been complaining. They need to get a cleaning crew that's coming around cleaning up food off the floors and some type of fly magnets to get control of the massive fly problem. This place is not cheap. You're definitely going and spending $100 on yourself so I think it's worth it to make sure that your consumers are feeling comfortable while eating. read more

It'd been a while since any of us had been to Benihana before so it was fun for all of us. They have a "lifestyles" menu which is what I got when I asked for vegan options. I ended up with hibachi vegetables, steamed rice, salad, and I ordered some edamame & a sushi roll as well. Everyone's food was delish & service was great. I will say, the bartender that night was not great. We had someone order a dirty martini & it looked like she'd dumped the bottom of a jar of olives in there more than the vodka. When the same person asked for a dry martini, we got a lychee martini, on the third try it was like there was no vermouth in it. A mediocre bartender wasn't going to turn us away (and probably wouldn't keep us from coming back) but we might be a lot simpler with our drink orders next time. read more

I've dined here a few times throughout the years so I can leave an honest review, I've been to the Las Vegas and Dallas locations. Benihana is really good and always a vibe. I love the hospitality, everyone is so sweet and accommodating, the chefs always put on a great show, they are consistent. The servers are work hard to make sure their guests are good. I took my baby here for the first time on my birthday and he enjoyed the show and food, the fried rice was his favorite. I always get the filet mignon and scallops, always make sure to ask for a little extra salt and pepper! I love the side salad with the ginger dressing and the miso soup appetizers. This is a great spot for date night, birthday parties, or just hanging out with family and friends! Cocktails are always good and they usually add new seasonal ones on the menu. When I did get it, it was 95% ice. The show was boring. Only trick was the flaming onion volcano. No egg catches in the hat. No interaction with the diners. Didn't get my rice, had to ask for it. Then I got fried rice when I ordered white rice. My grandson never received his meal from the children's menu. I have had more tender ground beef than the filet I received. I was so embarrassed. I invited good friends from out of state for dinner here, and in our salads was a huge Roma tomato. My friend politely asked for a knife to cut hers so she could eat it. Looking at all of our meals, I suggested the waiter bring four dinner knives for everyone. I could not believe it--he brought out four disposable cutlery kits and set them by our plates, explaining that they don't have knives. At a restaurant where our dinners were over $65 each (not including drinks), we were given to-go plastic cutlery? This is not a "nice" dinner. They serve steak, chicken, and lobster--yet if the chef at your table doesn't cut your meat small enough, you're expected to eat it with a flimsy plastic knife? In all my life, I've never been to a restaurant of this caliber and been given plastic utensils instead of real ones. The second issue: no one mentioned that swapping white rice for fried rice is a $7.50 upcharge per person. We probably would have all still ordered the fried rice, but I couldn't help but think of the young couple at the table across from us that you could tell was watching what the prices were. This charge added an extra $30 to our tab? Why isn't it made clear prior to ordering? We only noticed when the bill came. On top of that, we had to stop our waiter from closing our ticket out so we could remind him to bring our dessert and green tea--which was included in the meal. And he never mentioned. Then despite 3 of us having tea. He brought 2 spoons for us to put honey in our tea? I guess he expected us to share communal style... Overall, this dinner wasn't even close to what I'd expect for the $350+ we spent. The food was just so-so, the service was lackluster, and the plastic cutlery was downright tacky. Worst experience at a Benihana ever. My daughter picks Benihana every year for her birthday. I specifically booked lunch during the week to make it less expensive. When we were seated, we were given the dinner menu--the prices had increased a lot since we had been there--$45 for the hibachi steak (non-filet) seems excessive and then to have to pay $7.50extra for the chicken fried rice. I asked for the lunch menu. The server came back and said the manager said we couldn't get the lunch menu because it was the holiday--it was the day after Christmas but was a weekday. We rolled with it thinking we'd get the full Benihana experience--we didn't. The chef phoned it in. The zucchini, onions, etc were all pre-cut. He didn't do many of the normal tricks. And the place needed a deep cleaning--the restroom smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in sometime. I don't mind paying for good food and a good experience. I am furious and deeply hurt by the experience we had today. I brought my daughter here to celebrate her 9th birthday, full of excitement and expecting a fun, memorable hibachi experience. Instead, what we got was a complete disaster that ruined what should have been a special day for her. First, the service was awful from the start. We were handed only a dinner menu even though we came during lunch. When we asked for the lunch menu, the server acted like it was an inconvenience to even go get one. He couldn't explain anything and made it clear he didn't care about helping us. Then came the so-called "chef." He was boring, unenthusiastic, and completely uninterested in providing any kind of experience. My daughter even said, "He only made small fires." There was no energy, no jokes, no effort--nothing. To top it off, the food was horrible. The shrimp was left on the grill so long it was hard and rubbery. Everyone at our table left their plates full because it was just that bad. But the most infuriating and heartbreaking part came with the birthday celebration--or should I say, the complete lack of one. I made it very clear that we were there to celebrate my daughter's 9th birthday. She wore a "Birthday Girl" pin and a crown, and we reminded them multiple times. Despite this, they ignored her entirely. We watched two other kids--both white--get the full birthday treatment. They got songs, cake, and ice cream, all with smiles and enthusiasm from the staff. Meanwhile, my little girl, the only Black child in the room, got nothing. When we brought it up, the server gave pathetic excuses like, "Oh, I didn't see her crown or pin." That's a lie--they were in plain sight, and we told them it was her birthday! And after celebrating yet another white child, they came back to us and said, "Oh, we're out of ice cream." How convenient. Do you have any idea how it feels to sit there and console a heartbroken 9-year-old who was so excited to be celebrated, only to be completely ignored? Do you know how it feels to watch her eyes fill with tears as she sees other kids being treated with care while she gets nothing? This wasn't just bad service--this felt personal. It felt like my daughter didn't matter to them. It felt like we didn't matter to them. I am beyond angry, disgusted, and hurt by this experience. We recently visited Benihana as a group of eight nurses for a lunch outing. Overall, the experience was enjoyable. Our server was excellent--super attentive and friendly. She mentioned she normally works the night shift, but she handled the lunch crowd with ease and made us feel very welcome. I ordered the filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy their food overall, but there was a bit of confusion with one of our party's orders. Our secretary ordered the lunch duo of chicken and shrimp and paid an extra $0.99 to add chicken to her fried rice. However, what she received was just the rice with chicken and shrimp mixed in--there was no separate chicken entrée as part of the lunch duo. Why would you pay extra just to have the food mixed together? It felt a bit misleading, and we were all puzzled about what the upgrade actually included. She's very shy, so she didn't ask for clarification, but it's something to be aware of if you're ordering. The bathrooms were clean, though I did notice a random dirty yellow cloth left on the sink, which was a little off-putting. Parking was no issue--plenty of space available. Came here to leave a three star review and I see the average is 3.1, so I feel I'm pretty accurate in my assessment. Pros: close, decent prices, happy hour, varied menu. Sat at a booth in the bar area since the plan was to order sushi, not hibachi. And also to be as far as possible from the loud children in the main dining room, I assume either amazed by the erupting onion volcano or an egg that was flipped into their chef's hat. The sushi bar area looks like an uninviting afterthought. A long bar with just four chairs widely spaced apart with a high chair at the far end. Do toddlers typically come by themselves (or even at all?) to sit at the sushi bar? Or is that just where they choose to store the high chair? The sushi was decent enough but at the low end of my required "quality scale" that I am willing to trust. Factoring in location and price... it was fine. Great presentation of the items they included. The menu also stated that tamago, krab†, and wakame were to be included, but all three were nowhere to be found. Service provided by Caira was great. Even though they use the handheld payment devices, they not only provide you a breakdown of charges but she also walked away rather than hovering over us as we contemplated the tip. That was enough to raise it to 3.5 stars if only that were allowed. Afterwards, I got a message from OpenTable that Benihana cancelled my reservation even though I gave them my name when I arrived and I watched her locate me on the list.
