We got the loaded Nashville fries, which were not hot like I expected but perfect. And the sauce on them was GOOD! We also both got cheeseburgers on the lunch menu with added bacon! Fire again! I got onion rings and they were definitely fresh and cooked on sight not frozen! Oh and my wife got fried zucchini I think. I didn't try it but she said it was good too. Total cost about $50 bucks. And that's PLENTY of food. And will be leftovers for dinner tonight. And and how could I forget while waiting on my food, oh let's come back to that. Let me mention that have REAL root beer! The steaks were presented very rare /raw even after my son's father in law asked that his be cooked well done. The majority of our group had to send the steaks back to be fully cooked. I did not want to make an issue of it that night as I was extremely exhausted after a full day of decorating and rehearsal. My food was cold when it was presented to me and the steaks were raw. Unfortunately my sister was sick on Saturday and barely made it to the wedding. The salad, barramundi and dessert were fantastic, I just cannot say the same for the steaks. While I do appreciate the mission of The Taste Project I will not recommend anyone to have any kind of special event at your restaurant.

How is this acceptable at a Ritz? Caveat-I worked in restaurants many years and owned a restaurant…read moreso I am THE easiest going customer you can get, super nice, and patient b/c I know the job is hard. 1) Rude bartender: Older guy with a strong accent. Evidentially this particular bartender was not just rude to my friends and I on more than one occasion but judging from the reviews I read here-he's rude to everyone. No exaggeration-he snapped at me when I politely asked for a glass of ice. Keep in mind we had ordered 4 dinners, champagne, a bottle of wine from the very nice female server earlier in the evening...I was just asking for a glass of ice and he snapped. I remembered him from a prior experience doing something similar. WHY does the Ritz keep this person with multiple reviews complaining about him? 2) Takes too long to get food. I have been coming here since it opened and the food has always taken a long time likely b/c of the positions of the kitchen but it now takes a long time and it's simply NOT good. Edamame was cold with some weird chilly seasoning and zero salt, sushi was subpar, the chicken bites were flavorless and greasy, the $30 burger was OK but the fries were cold and soggy. 3) The atmosphere: at one point they had live music, now they don't and they don't even play music if at all/that is audible so it's such a boring/lame atmosphere it doesn't seem like the people who work there even want to be there. You have to flag people down to get any services. The decor is gorgeous but that is it. Sadly this is one of only two indoor dining options at this Ritz-this is supposed to be the mid level experience as the other option is a fine Italian Steakhouse. Makes me wonder how this resort is going to make it.

Let's get to the good stuff; the food was delicious. I ordered the blackened tilapia, which came with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes, but I requested to have the vegetables replaced with just steamed broccoli. My server, Shereen, is super kind and accommodating, and thus I waited patiently for the food. I visited when there was only 1 group of people inside. Because I was a single individual ordering 1 meal, I expected the food to be out at a reasonable time. As I waited, 3 more groups of people arrived after I ordered. Eventually, 2 of those groups got their food. By this point I had waited for 20 minutes for a single tilapia dish, and my server knew it was getting unreasonable. She came over to reassure me it's coming, and offered to discount my meal. By the 30 minute mark, she came over again to check in. I eventually got the meal, but noticed that the steamed vegetables weren't replaced by the broccoli I requested. In the end, I received my singular dish and separate plate of broccoli after 35-40 minutes. As much as the food was delicious, portions were smaller than I thought. I might come back to give this place another chance and hope my experience gets better.

We were instructed to seat ourselves and choose one of the 4 padded booths along the wall. The other seating was table and chairs and relatively small. There's a separate lunch menu and a larger one with more choices and larger portions. Their dessert menu is not included but definitely ask about them; some are house made. My friend and I informed the server that we were going to split two different entrées. She said she would bring extra bowls and we could split it ourselves. To me this is not an unusual request and would be much easier if done in the kitchen. The beef stroganoff and pecan crusted chicken and pasta with pesto sauce were both delicious. The portions were large enough that we were able to take some leftovers home. I liked the bread a lot; it was thin and perfectly toasted. I checked their online menu ahead of time and realized that it is different than the one we received. The pecan crusted chicken was a nice surprise.
