Through a recommendation, I decided to try out this place. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but my first time experience was not as great as I'd hoped. Let's get to the good stuff; the food was delicious. I ordered the blackened tilapia, which came with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes, but I requested to have the vegetables replaced with just steamed broccoli. My server, Shereen, is super kind and accommodating, and thus I waited patiently for the food. I visited when there was only 1 group of people inside. Because I was a single individual ordering 1 meal, I expected the food to be out at a reasonable time. As I waited, 3 more groups of people arrived after I ordered. Eventually, 2 of those groups got their food. By this point I had waited for 20 minutes for a single tilapia dish, and my server knew it was getting unreasonable. She came over to reassure me it's coming, and offered to discount my meal. By the 30 minute mark, she came over again to check in. I eventually got the meal, but noticed that the steamed vegetables weren't replaced by the broccoli I requested. In the end, I received my singular dish and separate plate of broccoli after 35-40 minutes. As much as the food was delicious, portions were smaller than I thought. I might come back to give this place another chance and hope my experience gets better. read more

Heard about Zack's on a Facebook foodie group and I was glad I read the Yelp reviews before going. The restaurant is located in a 2 story strip shop and their sign is small and obscure. We were instructed to seat ourselves and choose one of the 4 padded booths along the wall. The other seating was table and chairs and relatively small. There's a separate lunch menu and a larger one with more choices and larger portions. Their dessert menu is not included but definitely ask about them; some are house made. My friend and I informed the server that we were going to split two different entrées. She said she would bring extra bowls and we could split it ourselves. To me this is not an unusual request and would be much easier if done in the kitchen. The beef stroganoff and pecan crusted chicken and pasta with pesto sauce were both delicious. The portions were large enough that we were able to take some leftovers home. I liked the bread a lot; it was thin and perfectly toasted. I checked their online menu ahead of time and realized that it is different than the one we received. The pecan crusted chicken was a nice surprise. read more

We had an OK experience at Zack's Bistro. The pictures on yelp definitely sold me to try Zack's. The food was good and the service was as well. There was one other couple in for lunch when we showed up. It is kinda dark and dreary in the restaurant, i wish the windows were open and there was a little lighter touch to the decor inside but overall we had a good experience at Zacks' Bistro. I hope to try it out again just for the dessert menu because they have a lot of my favorites on the menu such as bread pudding, creme brulee, key lime pie, tiramisu...yumm! read more

I went again today, and as always, the food and service was fantastic! I had the Calamari and then Beef Stroganoff again. It's the best I've ever had. The calamari is crisp and flavorful, especially with the two sauces they give you. The Stroganoff is creamy and has large pieces of beef, cooked to perfection. In the past I've had the meatloaf and the chicken cordon blue. Both were fantastic! Every time I go the owner is engaging and friendly. She makes me feel welcome there. Zack's Bistro is a hidden gem in Arlington. It's a family run restaurant that turns out amazing food with friendly staff and quick service. We arrived around 7:30 on a Friday night and were greeted warmly and seated quickly. I had the pepper crusted pork chop with Brussels sprouts and a vegetable medley. The pork was cooked perfectly, tender through out and well seasoned. The Brussel sprouts are amazingly flavored, topped with bacon and blue cheese. An amazing meal. My wife had the chicken fried chicken. The breading was crisp, the gravy was perfectly peppered cream gravy, and the mashed potatoes were seasoned well a velvety. I highly recommend giving this place a shot. You will not be disappointed. read more

Waitstaff, server, bar tender and hostess (all the same person) were fantastic; attentive, engaging and helpful all without being hurried or flustered with a heavy workload. Found Zack's from a Yelp search for restaurants in north Arlington. The wife and I decided to try it out for lunch. The 5 star rating was spot on. The appetizers, escargot and calamari, were delicious. Toasted bread was perfect for soaking up the garlic butter from the escargot. The outstanding cream gravy on the chicken fried chicken put the entrees over the top. Cheesecake with berry drizzle polished off a great meal. We'll be back. read more

We had no idea this restaurant was here, after reading about it we decided to try it for New Year's Eve lunch. The service was great. The menu selection was varied and interesting. There were also several daily specials available in appetizers, soup, and entrees. We had the seared ahi appetizer which was delicious and interesting, prepared with jalapeno. I had the Zach Attack seafood salad which was full of crabmeat and had just the right amount of dressing. My husband had the Beef Stroganoff. He thought it was delicious. We came on a weekday afternoon for lunch on recommendation of a foodie group and this little place did not disappoint! It's a small place tucked in a strip kind of next to Chili's at I-30 and Collins. There's a great menu, reasonably priced for what they offer. I had the Cajun Shrimp and Grits, which had 3 large shrimp on top of cheese grits with a nice lightly spicy sauce. Absolutely rich and wonderful. DH had the grilled pork chop with whipped potatoes and nicely seasoned vegetables. He loved it and did everything but lick the plate clean. We shared an apple cobbler with caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Didn't get a pic of that because we ate it too fast. Delicious. Great service and a cute little place. What a gem! We are always looking for new places to try and came across this place less than 10 minutes from our house. It looked nice online, the few reviews were positive and the menu looked good. It doesn't look like much from the outside. It's on the first floor of a two story commercial building along a loud and busy highway. From the street you'd never see it. Now, inside, I have to say, the decor could use some updates. It feels a little off. One wall has that faux stone laminate on it, the other some nice wood covering. Row of mirrors, a large piece of art from, Turkey? Two rows of mismatched LED lighting. Another colorful wall covering of what looked like a tandoori pot with assorted foods. Makes you wonder what kind of food you'll get. Now, I don't even want to write this review because I don't want you to go here. I want this place all for myself! The food - the food is AMAZING! Not like, one thing, but ALL THE THINGS!! We got wine to start, which was excellent. The menu is all kinds of things any red-blooded American would want: meatloaf, lasagna, stroganoff, chicken cordon Bleu, chicken fried steaks - vegans need not apply! They have specials - usually fresh fish - just ask. We got these ravioli starters - they were not what I was expecting - they were MUCH BETTER. 3 round arancini-esque balls of spinach and cheese in red sauce. These were sublime. Nearly liked the plate. Dinner - I had the beef stroganoff, she has a salmon special. Mac and cheese on the side, because I am a child, and some bread. The beef stroganoff - holy crap - this stuff doesn't just feed your belly, it feeds your SOUL. Beef so tender, no fork needed. The sauce was amazing, and, unusual for a stroganoff but there were some tomato pieces in there but it was brilliant! Cleared that plate. She loved her salmon - fresh and perfectly cooked. The Mac and cheese - I think I detected 3 different cheeses in there and man, so good! Not overly clumpy or watery - it was perfect. The bread - if I am writing about the bread in a place, you KNOW it's the real deal. The bread - slices of white buttered and lightly fried/toasted on BOTH SIDES. Ethereal and light and melts in your mouth. Dip it in whatever sauce is on your plate and die happy! The staff is also super nice and it's because they are so proud of the food. You can tell. It makes the place unique - you'll never get proud staff from a chain restaurant. It's a little pricy, but absolutely worth it! They deserve those prices for sure! -- That food. It is to die for. A place that is killing it like this place deserves its own building, deserves some upscale decor, deserves a star! It is so rare that I eat someplace that not only was everything good, but stunning! Stopped in for a quick lunch bite before the New Years holiday and so glad we did. Small quaint little restaurant in what used to be a sausage/dog place. Was greeted heartily when we walked in and given menus and water. I ordered the chicken fried steak and hubs ordered the meatloaf. I have to say everything we ate was amazing. I love me a good CFS and theirs is great. It was fried up nicely with a lovely crunch and the mashed taters and green beans were also cooked really well. The meatloaf was also amazing and had the best little charred side that was great. Customer service was also amazing, my hubs is from Italy and it felt like being in a little Italian cafe where the whole family is sitting around or working in the establishment. I travel to Dallas multiple times a year for work. I have my favorite places that I always go to, but try to mix it up every now and then. I left the office kind of late and was looking for something close. I had a taste for chopped salad. When I searched, Zack's came up. I was shocked that I had no idea about them. They are a sister restaurant of Mercury Chophouse, which is probably my favorite restaurant in Arlington. They are in a busy retail plaza, next to Chili's and a bunch of retail business. So there's plenty of parking. I can see why people would like the environment, it's a small restaurant that has kind of a cheers feel to it. The service was excellent! I was acknowledged when I walked in the door and taken care of well. The food is really the reason I didn't give 5 stars. My chopped salad was fine, but the my shrimp scampi appetizer was a miss for me. It was edible, but the sauce wasn't a light garlic, butter sauce like I like. It was more milky. Also I ordered a piece of chocolate mousse cake to go. Let me just say...I was highly disappointed with the cake. It wasn't just that it didn't taste good, it was very dry. Like it had been cut for days! This aggravated me even more, because I absolutely love anything chocolate mousse. Even after all of this, I'll absolutely give Zack's another try. I'm thinking maybe I just chose the wrong items on this visit. I'll update on after the next visit. read more

My Mother wanted to try Zack's for her 80th (29th) birthday lunch. Shereen immediately acknowledged her special occasion and brought out the chocolate mousse cake! Yum! Moist and delicious. The three of us shared (highly suggest) the pecan crusted chicken, beef stroganoff and pot roast. We all three loved each equally! Went to Zach's on Friday night with a group of 5. I ordered the chicken fried chicken which came with Green Beans and Mashed potatoes! The Green Beans were the best thing on my plate! The very small dollop of mashed potatoes were good! The chicken fried chicken was so thin I've never seen one that thin before so have no way of knowing if it was tender or dry! I mean really paper thin! The crust was pretty salty but not horrible since that's all you really tasted it needed to be good! For $20 bucks I'd never order that again! My friends Chicken fried steak was equally thin as well! My son said the beef stroganoff was very good! The portions are pretty small and for such a steep price we will probably not be going back! My son ordered a lemonade and Jack daniels drink they charged $15.50 for! Not worth it at all! The staff was very nice our waitress was very sweet however it took forever to get a water refill! We all ordered dessert I had strawberry short cake which was ok the best tasting dessert was the Cheesecake which is from a vendor of theirs!
