An Architect's Review…read more As an architect, I work with contractors on a regular basis and needless to say, I was probably more particular than most when it came to choosing someone to work on my own home. Word of mouth and research led me to ARC / Armando... and I'm glad I went with him! From the beginning, communication was clear and straightforward. We went through the scope of work, my requirements and budget. I had some very basic drawings prepared to communicate my ideas. Along the way, Armando made suggestions to work with my requirements and budget. His pricing was reasonable and, most importantly, he completed the work within the budget we originally agreed upon. Anyone who has done a renovation before knows how easily costs can start creeping up once work begins. That was not my experience here. The scope and budget were established upfront and Armando stuck to them. And this was very important to me as I had no way of accommodating an increase in cost. The work was for a garage renovation, it included interior demo, replacement of an exterior window, addition of a new exterior door, vinyl wood flooring, drywall and installation of a new gypsum ceiling. Work progressed efficiently and to my expectations with no unnecessary delays. Communication throughout the project was excellent, and mostly Armando initiating the conversations to keep me updated. He was also very easy to work with on finishes and hardware. Some items I provided myself while others were sourced by him. Again, he made recommendations to work with my budget while not compromising on quality. Speaking of quality, the quality of the work was exceptional. It has now been over a year since the renovation was completed and everything still looks as good as the day it was finished. Absolutely zero complaints! His attention to detail was very much appreciated. He constantly made suggestions when he felt something could be improved. For example, he suggested a more random tile pattern for the vinyl floor instead of the more regular stagger I had proposed. We went with his suggestion and I am very pleased with it. Armando is knowledgeable, reliable and a pleasure to work with. Coming from someone who deals with contractors professionally all the time, I don't make that recommendation lightly. Definitely highly recommended and he will be my first call for future projects!

I really appreciated Ken's easy-going demeanor, and sensed zero interest in him trying to sell me a repair service that wasn't needed. Ken is just an honest guy offering his experienced opinion - in no doubt, putting yet another homeowners' unwarranted concerns to rest. I discovered Sergio after I saw his incredible work/remodeling to the house next door to me. Scope of work: Kitchen + Master Bath + Guest Bath complete demo and remodel, downstairs flooring…read more(from carpet/tile to LVP), tile around the fireplace, and door/frame repaint Few things I wish I knew before starting the project (this was my first big renovation): - When obtaining quotes, clearly communicate the materials you want included in the quote (e.g., quote based on current layout, quote based on kitchen cabinets going all the way to the ceiling, quote based on shower tiles going all the way to the ceiling, etc.). This will help to make the quotes more comparable and will ensure there aren't any major surprises along the way. - Confirm working hours (e.g., what time they will start each day, what time they will finish each day, do they work weekends, etc.). - If you have the space, buy new appliances as soon as possible. Similarly, order shower glass doors as soon as tiling is done. You never know when something will go out of stock or if there will be unexpected delays in delivery. - Be prepared to make all the design choices (unless you hire a separate designer). They will opine on something very specific if you ask and will definitely bring something to your attention if they think you're about to make a huge mistake, but in general, you are responsible for all the materials selection. We met with 6 contractors before selecting Entourage. Of the 6 we met with, only 2 encouraged doing things "by the book" (i.e., getting the proper permit from the city). In fact, some of them actively discouraged us from obtaining the permit. Given the magnitude of the project, it made us a bit nervous that some of the contractors didn't want us to pull the proper permit (we understood that obtaining the permit will add to our budget and timeline and were ok with it). Of the 2 that did recommend doing things by the book, we went with Entourage because their pricing was more reasonable. FYI, Entourage handles all the work related to pulling the permit for minimal cost. Overall, we are very happy with how our house turned out and plan to hire them on future projects (we have also recommended them to several friends). Entourage's quality of work, especially as it relates to tiling, is just amazing. In fact, friends that came over to check out the "new" house commented on how they thought the project would've cost way more than what we ended up spending. Our primary contact, Paulina, was super responsive and helpful. They estimated that the project would take 3 - 4 months and it was completed almost exactly on the 3-month mark.
