The food was mediocre -- around the level of Olive Garden food. The view was great. It was difficult to actually find the restaurant. I hoped it would be a hidden treasure. It was merely "hidden". read more

Had some $40 McDonald hash browns there today with a dollop of truffle infused crème fresh. Service was slow even though there was a lot of staff and only a few tables. Hope they are just working through the kinks of a new open. read more

Booked a dinner for tonight, New Year's Eve, but my wife became too sick last night and I had to cancel this morning. Called to request a refund of the $100 deposit and they refused. Very disappointed that a restaurant of this caliber cannot show some empathy for unforeseen circumstances. They will have zero issues filling that 7:30 spot, but instead they have lost a customer for life over this! read more

I'm so glad that a high rise in PDX finally arrived. I'm from Los Angeles and have always loved dining in hotels. I go to the Ritz (Bellpine) - 20th floor at least 4 times a week. Both bartenders, Theodore and Cameron are the best. They are very friendly and attentive and make the visit even more enjoyable. John, the restaurant manager, is fantastic. read more

Great view and service. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Recommend the crab sandwich!

Enjoyed a recent lunch at Bellpine. Olive oil Old Fashioned was original and delicious. Mushroom and burrata toast with fries was excellent as were the gazpacho and tagliatelle pasta. Prices were in keeping with a hotel location. An appetizer and a main were served at the same time. Another main was placed in the middle of the table, presumably for sharing. Staff were very friendly. Lunch for two was $114 with tip. read more

Food was great! We had for the table small plates and all the items were unique and delicious in taste. Dessert was great as well. Impeccable presentation of food. Ambience was up to the mark of a 5 star hotel. We will go back for sure. read more

Enjoyed a lovely lunch at Bellpine. The restaurant was quiet, views of the city and mountains were spectacular. Menu options were light but fulfilling, and enjoyed a great wine selection as well. Burger was subpar and basic, and service could be improved. read more

Absolutely loved the food and service! The ambiance is beautiful and the view is impeccable! We went for lunch but I really want to go back for dinner. We loved the crab donuts, the pesto pasta (I asked for the eggplant and couscous on the side and I'm very happy they did), the burger was delicious and so was the homemade ketchup. The cheesecake was freaking delicious. They made a mocktail with ginger beer and it was incredibly delicious!!! It was lovely to meet the staff, who are all very kind and professional. Will definitely come back! read more

the food is tapas style, so expensive and very small portions. i ordered more than pictured, but only included the photos of the dishes i enjoyed. we did not enjoy the scallops, the laughably small portion of lobster, and the restaurant/ritz as a whole. the ritz lobby is incredibly kitschy with fake plants and horrible decor. the restaurant itself is in a weird location within the building and fails to provide a view better than the one from my high rise apartment nearby. the food was ok, nothing special and worthy of the multiple less than high reviews. i believe it's because there was a level of "hype" that lead to high expectations that wasn't achieved. read more

We dined at Bellpine last night- and wish we had ordered differently. The menu isn't online (which stressed me out, I'm a planner). There are two main sections: shareables and large plates. The shareables are mostly tiny. The large plates are giant. We were guided to order about 4-6 shareables for a party of 4 - and I left the meal pretty hungry. I could have ordered more, but we were already there for 2 hours and I was tired. Flavors were nice. Dessert and cocktails were a highlight. I'd like a section for more mid size dishes - or guidance to order more food in the future The staff were lovely and attentive. We will go back and check it out in a few months to see how it's evolving. read more

The steak is delicious and good size for two adults to share. It comes with great sauce and fries. The dessert desserts is fantastic. The service is excellent with five star hotel standards. The view is great with Mt hood view on a clear day. read more

We made a reservation for celebratory Mother's Day brunch on Saturday, but unfortunately they don't welcome service animals so we were sent away. Can't really comment on the food /service, etc. but just a heads up in case anyone from out of town was concerned, They are not dog friendly. They were polite about it, but it definitely a damper on the day. read more

My daughter treated me to Christmas dinner at Bellpine. The setting was extremely austere with no holiday decorations. I guess the idea was the view was to take care of everything. However, the heavy mist obscured any view. The food was good (what little there was of it). Evidently staff had read one of the reviews so we were able to have a tasty English muffin type bread. Our server was delightful. There was only one other party in the dining room yet there was a long wait between courses. When food did arrive, the server was attentive. He did keep my coffee warm as the room was very chilly. (We were not by the windows). Wine selection was OK, not great. Being from out of town, and having read on National news the condition of Portland, I was not keen to go downtown. My daughter assured me we would use valet parking with no problem. Unfortunately, valet services were not included in the meal and were very expensive. (a jolt to me as I have traveled a lot and not experienced this before). It did not finish off the day well.) Don't think either of us will be back read more

Unnecessarily fancy. I don't mind paying top dollar for a meal, unless I get poor food and crappy service. Both are hallmarks at this restaurant. I'm assuming positive reviews are friends and family of the restaurants employees. They tried to compete with Departure by putting a roof top patio in. The patio is literally 10'x10'. Embarrassing. The desert menu is a laughingstock of any high end hotel I've eaten at. No functionality as a desert, but a tasteless work of art. The hotel and its management do not have their finger on the pulse of Portland. Did not post this review earlier, because wanted to give them time to work the kinks out, but 2 months later, they are still floundering. read more

Loved it, great food and ambiance, especially if you are staying at the hotel, beautiful!

We were so excited to try this new bar. The greeters and atmosphere 5 stars. Host directed us to a table. Waited and waited for menus. Flagged down a staff person for a menu. Another 10 min went by, flagged down a different person to see if we could place an order and we're assured somebody would be right. 25 min later, still no service. It was an amazing view inside and looking out, so not a complete waist of time. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and try this place again after they work out the kinks. read more

It wasn't terrible, but it's not the five-star experience Portland/SW Washington diners are looking for. Our server was very nice and would have been great in another environment, but perhaps not fine dining. The food was interesting, but not incredible. I disagree with other diners that stated that the food is overpriced, we had about 7 total dishes and 3 alcoholic beverages and our total (with 20% tip) was $280. Very reasonable. We may try again in a few months, after they've had a chance to work through some kinks. read more

I went to the Bellpine today with two friends cuz we wanted to check out the food at the new Portland Ritz Carlton. A bit disappointing for all three of us. First let me say the server David was great, professional and accommodating. We loved him. However, the food was not so great. I got the duck hash with two eggs over easy. The menu said it was served with potatoes. I did not expect to be served tater tots at the ritz Carlton! I expected better. Eggs were over cooked and dish was dry. It needed a sauce. Another person had the salmon cake. They love the fennel salad but the salmon cake was very dry. There was no sauce or anything. Just a plain salmon patty on a plate with a salad. They couldn't choke it all down it was so dry. The third dish we tried was the biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were thin and overcooked. Gravy with truffle and mushrooms was ok but nothing to desire again. We wouldn't go back to this venue again unless they change the menu. Maybe the staff need more training since it relatively new. Anyway. We had a decent time. View was great, server was great. Food needs a lot of work. Please make the food worthy of the brand name Ritz Carlton. I be eaten at a lot of Ritz and this was my least favorite. read more

Yankeesh and John Roussin have no customer terrible service skills! So surprised by Ritz PDX!!! Party of 4 there for drinks and small bites , first he said the bar was open seating and as we are walking down and a party left he stated he could not accommodate us since the bar isn't open seating. Ritz in Oregon ! What else do you expect! read more

Update- the hotel took our concerns very seriously and made it right. We left the valentines tasting dinner to walk to shake shack across the street. Honestly the worst food I've had in along time for a steep price. Every dish was over engineered and trying too hard that it lost purpose and taste. Foie gras rolled in cherry gelatin served on chocolate cracker? Not as a dessert?? You can't make this stuff up. They did offer to comp the meal but we declined. There service and restaurant is absolutely fantastic- EXCEPT THE FOOD! read more

My wife and I had a 9:15PM reservation on 12/28 for my birthday dinner. To my surprise, the restaurant was packed (we don't usually dine this late). The atmosphere and view of the city were amazing. The service was friendly and attentive. Our waiter did a great job describing specific dishes and the overall influence for the menu. We ordered 8 small plates and a dessert. * Crab Berliner * Albacore and Wagyu Beef Tartare * Bay Shrimp Potatoes * Corn Textures * Wagyu Beef Waffles * Shrimp & Grits Corndog * Duck with Apple * Lobster & Curry * Forest Desert Everything was tasty and plated nicely. Our favorites were the Duck with Apple, Crab Berliner, and Wagyu Beef Tartare. The delivery of the food was paced perfectly. While it's not like fine dining in Manhattan, my wife and I had a great experience dining at a nicer restaurant, which Portland lacks overall. A lot people were dressed up but there were still some individuals in sweats, hoodies, or running shoes (that's Portland for you!). I hope they switch up the menu in the Spring/Summer. I'd be interested in going back. read more

Giving this place 2 stars just because it looked very beautiful as we walked to the front desk. But unfortunately they would not seat the group of 4 of us even though all their seats were open. Their reasoning was that they have a large party in a room , and do t have enough staff !!! For a new business that just opened, you would think they should have hired enough staff to have more that 3 groups seated. read more

My wife and I were super excited for the opening and we quickly grabbed the first dinner spot we could. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very nice host and appreciated the great views. Despite the amazing service I don't think the menu lives up to what Portland folks and or out of towners expect from a 5 star Portland restaurant. The menu is somewhat limiting with small portions for what you pay for. Us as Portlanders want price per portion no matter the circumstances. I'm all for paying for great food but my wife and I were hungry separate ordering 6 of the menu items including 2 of the desserts. You just don't see menus like this surviving in Portland. They should have taken a page out do the tasty n alder/bros playbook and there would been a line around the block to eat there. I was wanting to walk out of there wanting to come back but unfortunately won't be. read more

What a disappointment coming from The Ritz. My friend and her daughter met my son and me for a pre-theater lunch in December. The service was odd and not cohesive, for example not knowing what utensils were needed for our orders or wine glasses. Our initial drink order took 30 mins to arrive from the bar. There was maybe four full tables during our dining time. Food arrived terribly late, about an hour or more and it was cold and presentation was worse than what I serve at home on a very busy week night. It makes me question why the RCH didn't launch in Scottsdale?? For the sake of Portland, I hope they figure it out. read more

Service was excellent, maybe even too attentive. The food was bland and extremely underwhelming, especially for the price. There are so many better culinary experiences in Portland for a fraction of the price. read more

Very strange menu format. Somewhat unprofessional service for a supposedly "high end" establishment. Sterile vibe for ambiance topped off with a noisy, hollow low quality floor. Amazing dinner experience!! 10 out 10. Great views of Portland from 20th floor. Very spacious area. You don't feel crowded. Their staff is too notch from the time we got there until we left. Great views on a nice day. Expensive for lunch, especially if you are parking in the garage ($25 valet). I had the open face salmon sandwich, which comes on an English muffin, with some greens on top, $30. Someone in our party ordered the Caesar salad and the lettuce was very subpar. The chef explained that CA lettuce wasn't very good this year due to the rain. read more

Amazing! This is 'share' type dining and every dish we ordered was over the top with flavor, freshness and creativity. The service is impeccable and the ambiance is understated elegance. They offer an extensive list of top shelf libations and creative signature cocktails, in addition to a well rounded wine list. Our server, Angie, was professional and attentive. Very soon, after we set down, my husband made a hand gesture, while talking to me and he accidentally, tapped an empty wine glass. The glassware is VERY thin and beautiful and the glass shattered onto the floor. He cut himself, slightly and bled a little onto his white dress shirt. Angie was there immediately and had the shards swept up and brought him a dish of soda water and a napkin and a bandaid. Angie deserved the Red Cross award! He was able to get all of the stain out of his shirt and we proceeded to have a most enjoyable evening. Angie asked if we wanted the dishes to be served one right after the other, or did we want to slow the service down in between, which is what we chose. We ordered a dessert called; Forest, which is a chocolate based dessert and though it sounded kind of strange (mushroom cream), it was so wonderful, we are still talking about it. I must mention the valet parking attendants, who are quick and personable. We texted them after we paid the bill and our car was waiting. Obviously, we look forward to returning to Bellpine. read more

Great ambiance and view. Drinks are great. Went two nights in a row. Had the steak second night. Cooked perfect. Highly recommend

Certainly upscale for Portland. Killer views. The table menu is good, the mains...not so much. Service was spot on. Valet parking silly expensive, but disclosed up front so at least an informed decision. Good for special occasions but no reason to add this place to your regular rotation. read more

My friends and I went there for a birthday celebration. We shared several dishes. Each dish was very small. It was ok to only have a little amount of food, we could've just ordered more. But, most of the dishes were not very good. We felt like we were eating baby food. We were still hungry after, so we opted to go somewhere else to eat more. The service and ambiance were great. Ritz-Carlton really needs to do something about their food though. The food at their downstairs bar was better than the restaurant food. read more

Approach this as a food experience and less as "dinner." We got 5 of the shareables, they were served in a thoughtful order. Our two standouts were the bay shrimp and the lobster. The food was good, with bright spots, but not great. Beautiful setting and good service. Value I would say is modest. read more

I don't usually write negative reviews but in this case I feel it is warranted. We made reservations for Christmas Eve. I specifically asked if the regular menu would be available and was told by one of the staff members that on Christmas Eve it would be. The day before I got a call to confirm the reservation and asked again. I was told yes it would be available. On Christmas Eve about 5 hours before our reservation I got another call to confirm and at that time was told they would only be offering a fixed price menu for $150 per person. Needless to say we canceled. I think this is very poor business. They should have been upfront when the initial reservation was made. Poor management and customer service. read more

We arrived 30 minutes early and were immediately seated where we had requested in our reservation. We acted like the "normal" people that we are---not arrogant and snooty and were treated with respect and friendliness. All of the staff we encountered were fantastic---went out of their way to explain things like "Table Fare" and ingredients in the menu items we selected. (If you do not like the idea of "Table Fare", don't go there.) We absolutely loved it. The food was also fantastic with flavors I have never tasted before. We got the "Forest" for one of our desserts and they had written "Happy Anniversary" on a little log in the dessert. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. read more

I live in Portland and enjoy going to restaurants in downtown Portland. We went to the Bellpine at the Ritz Carlton at 3pm on a Sunday to have a cocktail and light fare, while enjoying the spectacular views. While the views are sensational, the service was extremely disappointing, especially for an expensive restaurant. One would think that at 3pm, while there are only a few people in the restaurant, you would get good service. Unfortunately, the service was incredibly slow and lacking in any consideration. My wife got hot chocolate within 10 minutes of ordering, which is fine. However, it took over 30 minutes for me to get one of the standard cocktails on the menu. I also ordered a small salad and after 45 minutes - NO food or even the usual "check in" from our waiter came. Again, the restaurant had very few customers and there were several wait staff and bartenders. We finally had to find the maître de to ask to cancel the salad and to get our check so we could leave. Our waiter came with the check and took my credit card - yet, even then, and after complaining, the maître de came to apologize, but it still took another 10-15 minutes to get my credit card returned and ONLY after my wife got up to ask our waiter to return it. I don't write many negative reviews. However, to have such lousy service from such a prestigious establishment that is new and should be focused on building a good reputation, is very disappointing. read more
