I dined at at the City Centre locale today (6/6/15) and abosutely loved my experience up until the patio bartender became a little too "comfortable" in my opinion. My sister and I showed up for the Texas Festival that was being held with her two dogs and decided to eat on the patio. We were there for a few hours (approx, 3-6:45pm) and had the roasted chicken sandwich and the spicy fish tacos at which were both wonderful. We had a wonderful time on the patio and left three drinks later. Spending as much time as we did sitting outside, I was constantly checking to make sure there were other multiple tables available for seating while we were there- and there was. Having been a server and bartender with Landry's Corp and some other establishments in the past, I wanted to make sure that we were not impeding business. My sister and I had already agreed to relax for a few drinks and tip the bartender heavily for holding the table. Nadir, who I assume is the manager, was absolutely wonderful. He checked on us more than the bartender (who was also serving as the outside server- if you could even call him that), and was even nice enough to bring water out to my sister's dogs and check on us regularly (which the patio bartender/server was not doing). Nadir really was phenomenal, made our experience, and is the reason we will be frequent regulars. However, the bartender was completely disrespectful. He took our orders and did everything as he should (minimally) up until he returned when we were on our last beers (the third for each of us- three hours later). He approached our table and asked us "if were going to hang out drinking all day?" and proceeded to ask us to "go to the Yard House, take a Ruggles plastic cup with us, order a Patron shot, pour it into the plastic cup in the bathroom and bring it back to him so he could take it behind the bar, while on shift. The incentive you wonder? He then tells us that "the next round would be on him... and to to think about it" .... hence on your business (Ruggles)- because I'm sure he never had any intention of actually paying for it himself. Again, having worked in the industry, we both know this is illegal, unacceptable, and inappropriate. We both ignored it. When I went to close out and pay our tab there was another woman at the counter. She left and I started to attempt to pay our tab..then the woman returned. She had the wrong card/wallet with her, I'm not sure. I of course moved aside so she could finish her transaction, but before she could do so the bartender felt necessary to say "I'm sorry she's been drinking all day and is rude." I just smiled at him and did not say anything. Needless to say, I left him the 20% minimum tip for my tab. My sister was nice enough to still leave the 50% tip that we had both planned on leaving initially, but that really had to to do with that fact that Nadir was so awesome. Had I of been able to leave Nadir a tip and the bartender nothing, I would have- and I would have left the 50% that I had planned on at that. I was extremely appalled at the lack of professionalism exhibited by the bartender and I would guess he had a few shots at the Yard House while on shift since he kept disappearing over there (or at least I would hope his lack of professionalism can at least blamed on that). And I only know this because I was nice enough to try to make sure to close out with him before a shift change when I saw another bartender get behind the bar. However, He informed me he would be there all night, he was just going next door for the game while walking back to the patio from the Yard House. I hope someone from Ruggles City Center sees this and talks some server etiquette into him. It's one thing to joke around with customers, but if he tries to chalk it up to that....LOL...he was completely out of line. I didn't even care to ask his name. Had it not been for Nadir, we would not be returning. Other than the bartender's lack of professionalism and etiquette- wonderful food and atmosphere!!! Would have given 5 stars had the outdoor patio bartender not been so rude and unprofessional. read more

Went today with friends. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich was ok. It could have been seasoned more the fries were cold. The crab cakes were crispy on the outside mushy inside. My friend's did like the shrimp pasta. My guy friend ordered the roasted chicken he didnt like it and returned it after one bite. I will go back but the quality was not that great. I may stick to the pizzas next time because its hard to mess up. read more

Relaxed dining on the green with indoor and outdoor seating. We frequent the City Centre area often and hadn't tried Ruggles. After reading the menu, we decided to try it out for lunch. Everything sounds healthy and fresh. Had the spicy shrimp tacos. They were good and fresh. You get a lot of food. Also had the salmon salad. It was good. The sweet potato fries were very good (high point). Service is speedy and they are attentive. Self serve drinks (tea & soda). They have wine and some beer in bottles. Place to get great drinks is right across the green. It strikes me as a place to meet before/after shopping or to cool your heels during shopping. It isn't a place I would drive to just to eat there. However, City Centre is loaded with mid-level and high end restaurants that fit that bill. So Ruggles fills that nice relaxed, casual, "urban dining when you are shopping" need for the area. read more

No idea what this is but it most definitely is NOT grilled chicken. For the steep price you pay here for what is supposed to be a higher end health cafe, the quality of food is just purely unappetizing!! On of it being unappealing it tastes just as it looks and will more than likely make you sick as it made me. Chick fil A chicken is better than this option! read more

I wish I could hire Ruggles Green to be my personal chef! I always leave the restaurant feeling very satisfied and nourished. I am not a vegetarian, but I could eat the vegetable lettuce wraps every day and the vegetable pizza is fantastic. One caveat: parking at City Centre is the worst (Jean-Ralphio style!), just truly awful, and the last time I was sitting outside, there was a weird smell on the patio....the Heights location is my favorite! read more

Yeah, it's pricey but so what? I'm not eating here everyday. I come here maybe once a month. I ordered the curry chicken salad and it is HUGE! Two chicken fillet in a curry sauce. The salad is tossed with the right amount of dressing and the dried fruit in it gives it a nice touch. Most places mess up chicken easily and it just tastes dry. The chicken on the salad was juicy and cooked so well. Come sit on the patio and watch kids kick balls into other kid's faces! read more

Awesome spot for a hearty, healthy, tasty meal, great atmosphere in city center. Prompt service, would def recommend!

I appreciate that it offers some good options re dietary restrictions and good location. I went there with my friend and our two kids today. It was loud and chaotic inside so we sat on the patio. I ordered a cheese pizza for my LO and a quinoa side salad and it came to 19.00. I never got a drink or anything. I didn't get a breakdown of the receipt and it was so hot and hectic that I left without going in to double-check it. It seems a little $$ though. The salad tasted ok but the pizza was sort of greasy and didn't really look or taste very good. I don't think the dough was totally cooked either. And my LO just kept spitting it out and trying to leave for the birds... read more

We were headed out of town and we're trying to find a good vegan option and we came across Ruggles Green. This place was delicious! Its also in a really nice shopping center. It's weird at first because it looks like a sit down place, but you order at the counter like a fast food place. I didn't really like that, I felt rushed to make a decision. The hummus was amazing, they served it with pita slices as big as a pizza! My husband and I got the vegan wrap, I don't recall the name. I hope we'll be back, I'm a fan! read more

payed 20% tip for a medium cooked burger when I asked for medium well! Soda machine closed so could not refill. Potato fries was below average. I wish I went to McDonald's. read more

Hit and miss. Came here 4 times within 10 days. Twice was great. Food was warm, on time, fresh. Twice food took 40 min to get , chicken was undercooked and fries were room temp at best. Also they might want to reconsider their cake display. It looks sad and unappealing. read more

I had the Kale Yeah salad which was dressed perfectly. I loved sitting on the patio enjoying the evening breeze and a glass of wine.

Service is always great. Unfortunately the food seems to be more and more disappointing. This past visit the store looked really un kept and dirty. The booths can be replaced and the bathrooms needed some TLC. read more

Love it here! Pizzas are amazing wouldn't get the chicken tacos again. The salads and portions are very generous.

Love the outdoor seating for people watching and when they have events going on in the middle of City Centre. Don't let the long lines fool you, they move pretty quick! There's a hand washing station outside the bathrooms so you don't have to occupy or go into the bathrooms. Oh the food - it's great! Super healthy and doesn't hurt the wallet. My aunt loves their sweet potato fries and I love their spicy shrimp pasta. Sandwiches and burgers are also yummy! read more

Spicy shrimp pasta was a-m-axing! The sauce was very flavorful, the shrimp was cooked to perfection, the pasta was wheat pasta and you couldn't event tell and just the right amount of shrimp! read more

Just as wonderful as all of the other Ruggles Greens around town. The food here is top notch. The combination of ingredients are well thought out and it's always fresh. My favorite salad on the menu is the curry chicken salad, with a large chicken breast spiced with a curry rub, dried raisins and apricots, carrots, and more. Many of my friends love the fried goat cheese salad. My man loves the hempanadas, with ground beef, hemp flour, and raisins. They don't taste nearly as healthy as they sound! They are delicious. We dine at the Heights location often. I have been a big fan for years. read more

Went there with a bunch of girls on a laid back Wednesday night and I ordered the Texas Caesar chicken salad. Well, it's fresh and quite standard. Nothing too mind blowing but it's a good salad. My friends ordered different kinds of pasta and it looked much better than my food...go with that! read more

The food is always amazing and also the customer service. However this is the 4th time my family and I are treated rudely by G. Zuniga. She always has an attitude taking our order. read more

This place is super busy on the weekends but that's expected from the location. The food is pretty average. Bland for the most part. The only reason we keep coming back is because my husband loves their fish tacos and I love their white chocolate bread pudding. Also the staff is friendly and attentive. read more

Delicious food! Quick and easy, but nice sit-down atmosphere. In town for a fitness expo, so I ate lunch at Ruggles two different days. Tried the roasted chicken sandwich and the blackened shrimp salad, and both were excellent! Eating outside on the patio made it all even more enjoyable. read more

My roommate and I, on a house hunting trip from a tiny town in Oklahoma, ate at Ruggles on our first night in Houston. And it was like taking a deep breath after holding it underwater a couple seconds too long! Fresh, beautiful but generous portions, with a great atmosphere. We continue to bring out-of-towners to Ruggles Green time after time. Thanks RG! read more

In love with the white chocolate bread pudding! This location is excellent. Great for kids because you could eat outside (when the weather is nice) and watch your kid play while you eat or better yet, bribe your kid to eat because then they will be able to play later with all the kids! read more

This is the best Ruggles location in Houston! I have been to all of them and this one is the largest, cleanest, and has the best service (although they all are pretty awesome). I'm such a big fan of restaurants who label everything for different diets like "vegan" or "gluten-free" and Ruggles goes above and beyond with their selection. I have had the grilled fish tacos, goat cheese salad, burgers, soups, and their GF pizza is to die for. All of the food here is so fresh and the way that food should taste. It's definitely worth the money I spend with the amount of food you get. It does get super crowded on the weekends but it's never been more than a 10 minute wait for a table. I only wish I could come here every day to eat, that's how good it is!! read more

If you are into eating healthy then this place has great options. Sit outside for the view and people-watching- it is very entertaining! I recommend getting the turkey burger and the sweet potato fries...very filling and delicious. If you are in the mood for seafood then you must order the crabcakes! read more

Excellent food! Burger, grilled cheese and fries were all delicious! The chocolate cake was absolute heaven! Loved the atmosphere and the ability to sit outside by the open area. The black tea was delicious too. Kinda pricey, but pretty normal for Houston. Just be prepared for a crowd! read more

Incredibly disappointed with this Ruggles location. We ordered out and what was delivered was horrific! The quality of food was sub par, we ordered shrimp tacos and the lettuce was browning and bruised, they gave us the wrong sauces. The steak panini had the incorrect sauce, the meat was old- both of us took two bites and threw away the food since we were afraid we might get food poisoning. Save your money and go to the heights Location. They at least do quality control and the food is consistently amazing. read more

The gluten free pizza is really good! Really anything here is good. They have a nice selection of salads and entrees. This is a great place to go with friends that are on different diets or have different allergies. It does get packed, so I suggest going on off times, or early, so that you can find a place to sit. read more

Love this place! The brick chicken and chipotle mashed potatoes are AMAZING!! Good for kids too.

Went on a Saturday night, if I remember correctly. The dining experience is way more casual than I expected but the food was awesome. You can definitely taste the freshness of it all. We ordered the pizza and a few glasses of wine. I want to return to try the pink velvet cake. the counter people who took our order were friendly and patient, considering the fact that this was our first visit and had to look over the menu a bit. I wanted to sit on the patio which overlooks the green area in CityCentre but because it was late on a Saturday night, it was packed with people who had looked as if they had finished eating and were just there. Still enjoyed myself inside though. I'll definitely be back to try more items from the menu... and that pink velvet cake. read more

I started out with the french onion soup, which lacked richness and depth of flavor. Given all the reviews for the white chocolate bread pudding, I wanted to make sure to try it. Honestly, it didn't live up to the hype - since I found it rather lackluster. The joint was hopping on a Saturday night and pretty noisy for conversation. They did bring out our food pretty quickly. With a group it makes for easy ordering since everyone can order and pay individually at the counter. I did appreciate all the alternative food options they have to be mindful of people on special diets. It's not a bad place; just not one I'd be running back to again. read more

This is the first Ruggles Green I went to and it made me a fan. Lots of veggie tasty options. The tomato basil soup, goat cheese salad, and veggie burgers are favorites. I really like their ice tea selection too. read more

Great location. Quick service. Great, healthy food. No compromise here.

The bison burger is a little dry and the Hawaiian BBQ pizza is a little salty, however the tomato soup is my favorite. Overall the food was decent. The service was fast and the people is very nice. The ambience of the restaurant is lively even on a rainy Sunday. read more

Meh. City Centre is a great addition in this area that was so desperately needing a community space when Town and Country was fading away. Located at the heart of this new space, Ruggles Green does not match the top notch eateries around, and the service is poor. I have been to others, like their concept and menu is great. This places lacks in all but the actual space layout. FOOD: One salad was OK, but meat was cold. Pasta was cold and unevenly spiced; not a spicy choice, yet I choked on an unexpected 100% jalapeno/cayenne/something else bite. All the water around was not enough... the rest was mild and mah. Roasted vegetables = 4 pieces of uncooked but burned on top cauliflower. Not OK. DRINKS: We opted for wine, house blend and Riesling, both good for price. SERVICE: what service? Someone did bring the plates, but forgot other stuff. We had to wipe our own table. The table next to us had 6 dirty glasses, used cuttlery and napkins, wrappers, etc. It was not wiped out in 2 hours! Nobody came, in 2 hours, to replenish water or clear out table. SAD service calls for SAD tips... just sayin' ATHMOSPHERE: Inside the layout is nice and varied, with booths, small and larger tables, and cute corners. But it feels cramped, touching elbows and listening into the stuff our neighbors are saying. Outside: right on the kids playing green, my friend got a ball kicked IN HER FACE. NOT OK. Can be prevented allowing for a buffer space between green and tabes, or adding some short subtle fencing, planters, etc. Tables outside are very cramped, no rhyme or reason, and not enough service for the amount of tables. NOT OK. Good thing is, now we know, we can go for fish, stakes, sushi, Brazilian fare or french crepes in a couple of steps, and at least we do get our money's worth. All and all, there other Ruggles around with far better atmosphere and service. read more

I was excited about the gluten free and dairy free options when I heard about this place. My husband and I went for dinner on Friday night and found it didn't quite meet our expectations. The food was ok but I felt I could make similar meals at home and the atmosphere was just too much like fast food for me. They also forgot to bring out our dessert... That being said I recommend it for allergy awareness and a good place take your kids for a casual bite. read more

What can I say, it's Ruggles. Always consistent, and always good. Ruggles has become a standard for our family.

I visited this restaurant today for the first time, I started by placing my order in the front, the waitress was ok until she gave me the receipt to sign it, you can tell that she didn't like the tip then her attitude changed and she started being rude..!!! She sent the food with the busser (the guy who clears tables). Anyway the food was not that great either, the French fries was soggy and it taste weird..! The chicken wrap was ok... But the fun is coming... In my way home I had DAIRRHEA yes Dairrhea :( ..... not a good experience at all ...SORRY NEVER CAME BACK AGAIN to this place Bellagreen - ..... Take care of your customers people keep them healthy !!!! read more

This place is ok. I will give it another try. When I was there, it was so loud it was difficult to enjoy my food.

I went to Ruggles for the first time, because I wanted to try something different for lunch. The City Center location was upbeat, but relaxing. I sat outside by the lawn. I ordered the tomato basil soup which had mozzarella cheese inside topped with a puff pastry shell. It was excellent. I also got the bread pudding for dessert. Now I am not a bread pudding fan, but I heard so much about it that I decided to give it a try. O.M.G. It made me want to go back in the kitchen and slap the cook it was so good. I thought and talked about it all day! Will probably be back...uuum tomorrow! :) read more
