My advice is to save your time and money and watch YouTube before going here. 15 minutes until my appointment, they called to rescheduled it 45 minutes out (as if you don't have respect for my time)...The reasoning behind the rescheduling my appointment was because a different client was late so you respect her time over new business. Even when I got there, I was forced to put on your mask instead of my own. Not to even mention they literally did NOTHING for why I was there. I requested a skin consultation and you didn't even look at my skin but recommended only the most expensive products. A waste of my time!! The one star is for Jessica because she was friendly but also like what's the point of doing a skin consultation. I've been going to Bella for 15 or so years, ever since my family first moved to Austin. TL;DR: Everyone at Bella is talented. Just go. My most recent experience was with Ginnie. I needed a full balayage and long trim. She did an AMAZING job. I was nervous beforehand because I had been getting my hair done consistently where I live and was just home for the holidays. Ginnie listened to what I wanted and I've already gotten 3 compliments. She also did it in record timing. All of my previous experiences were with Steven (who doesn't do balayage). Cant recommend this place enough! I've been cutting my own hair for 10 years & finally decided to get a proper cut done. Found this place easily on Yelp, booked an appt online & was seen all within 48 hours. Nicki (sp?) was my stylist (16+ yrs of experience) & she killed it. Helped me figure out the style of cut I wanted and gave me advice on how to style and which products to use. I have long hair & my entire appt took about an hour (just a cut, no dye). Apparently they're the oldest beauty salon in Austin. They got me in for an appointment the very next day and my stylist Trista was amazing. She knew exactly what I wanted and she didn't mess around. She was like "just show me the photos you've googled" hahahaha. I was in her chair for 4 and a half hours because I had never had my hair dyed before but she was amazing and knowledgable and entertaining. This salon is the most perfect one in Austin! Let me tell you why!! Appointments: making one is super easy and the front desk is super accommodating. I started off messaging on yelp and then they told me to call to confirm. That took about like 15 minutes total and that was me slacking off too! Location: this place is in downtown, but don't be too intimidated, they have a huge parking lot! Traffic may be bad, but your hair will be worth it. Stylist: so I had Jessica, she was super cool and hip. She listened to me and cut exactly where I wanted it to be. I was nervous about getting a long bob, but she encouraged me since I wasn't too sure with my choice. Boy am I glad she did that! MY HAIR LOOKS AMAZING FROM HER. She is super nice and I am a talkative person, so I felt bad for constantly talking to her haha. She's amazing overall, please ask for her. Price: so I am a ex college student, so I am used to the whole "getting a $25 hair cut" from a run down shop. This place is definitely more expensive than that. Of course I know what I was getting myself into, but my haircut was $75 without tip. I usually don't cut my hair until every 2-3 years so it's not a big deal for me, but I can see how many of my friends wouldn't go here for the price. So it's up to you! Overall this is a nice hair salon. They offer you coffee, water or tea. The front receptionist is super nice as well. So I'm going to preface this by saying that I NEVER write reviews, but after reflecting on my experience today, I cannot allow someone else to walk into this salon as ignorant as I was. So before coming here I had never dyed my hair. I am new to Austin so I looked up some of the best salons here and Bella Salon was at the top of a few lists. I booked my first appointment with a stylist named Britt on December 19th. I was starting with naturally black hair and just wanted to get it lightened all over to a light brown. She explained that it would be a multi step process and that the first step would be to lighten it just a couple shades, and I was skeptical but trusted that as a professional she knew what she was doing. I walked out of the salon out over 100$ and with almost the exact color hair I came in with. However I still decided to book a second appointment here and figured maybe I could get a different stylist. My second appointment here was this morning, and it went TERRIBLY, even worst than the first. This time my stylist was actually the general manager Kaylee McManus. I started by telling her how bad my first experience was and how frustrated I was that my hair looked exactly the same as when I left (I am trying to DYE it after all) and she promised to do a better job and leave me a lot closer to where I wanted to be in terms of color. She actually told me that what the initial stylist did was not only unnecessary, but made it harder to get to the color I wanted. This was such a big red flag, as a business how are you going to hire someone who performs unnecessary and counterproductive things on their clients hair?? However, Kaylee also mentioned she was a master level stylist, so I figured I would once again trust the professional. What a big mistake. I came in asking for a simple dye job and somehow over the course of 2 hours by the time I left I ended up with black hair and the most uneven grey and orange highlights. That is no where near what I asked for or what I wanted and I don't know how she could confidently send me out of the salon looking so terribly. When I finally seen what my hair looked like after it dried I wanted to CRY. I am out over 400$ altogether and now have to take my time and even more of my money to try and correct this. I am frustrated, I'm upset and I'm just so completely unsatisfied. Please don't allow these "stylists" any where near your hair unless you want to gamble with what the final result may be. Look at the attached photo and just keep in mind that I asked for uniform brown hair. I DID NOT ask for sloppy and uneven grey highlights. UPDATE: So I will say that Bella has amazing customer service, I was reached out to this morning about my experience yesterday and received not only a refund but also a complimentary visit to get the gray out. This time my stylist was Katie and she did a great job of getting the streaks closer to the color that I wanted and if I ever decide to come back, it would only be to see her again. However, at the end of the day I still can't totally recommend this salon. I came in wanting my hair dyed and over the course of 3 sessions and 3 stylists, I have highlights instead. If you came in wanting your hair dyed pink I don't think anyone, especially a stylist, would or should take that to mean that you want pink highlights. Those are two very different things and two very different looks. So I'm definitely going elsewhere to get my hair DYED and would recommend you do the same if that's what you're looking to get done. read more

Made an online appt for Friday (today) on Wednesday. Gave credit card info thought I was set. Appt was with Tristin. I wrote in comments that I wanted an undercut, root coverage and a few foils to break up the root demarcation. This is the day of my appt. "Client Services" calls to say they don't have enough time to do foils. She wanted me to explain how to do my undercut. These people charge a premium rate and they are asking me how to do an undercut bob. We agree I will see them today at 2pm. I get a call right back from the same lady and she tells me Tristin can't do short cuts, what? She earlier told me everyone at that everyone at Bella Salon has at least 5 years experience. I have a party to go to tomorrow and there are no appointments today at that salon. If Tristin could not do a simple undercut, why was I not contacted yesterday or as soon as they received my request and credit card info? This is bad business practices. They obviously overcharge and underproduce. read more

The last few times I have been back to Bella, Kelly Pereles has cut my hair. She is truly an artist and I have loved every cut she has given me. The foundation used on my face did not match my skin at all. When I left, I could definitely see the difference between my face and neck color. I am praying it's not too noticeable in my engagement photos. The foundation was totally peeling and it looked like I had freckles. I believe the room I was in was too dark to apply makeup. I paid $95 for my hair and it took the lady like 15min. I was told it takes an hour and half to do hair. I feel like more work should have been done. I had to ask for my hair to be curled again since she curled it too fast. Sadly, I was not satisfied with my experience and believe I paid too much. read more

Got a blowout & makeup session on the same day back to back right before my college senior graduation pictures. Had the BEST experience. All my friends have been asking me where I got my hair & makeup for that day... even to this day 5 months later! Makeup was done by Keith - he's AWESOME. I was so worried about the products matching my skin tone & the makeup lasting throughout the session but he did it perfectly & the make up lasted well past the photography shoot! If I remember correctly my hair was done by Lane - she was also amazing! It was my first ever blowout & it couldn't have gone more smoothly! She was so skilled & graceful even with my thick, long hair. Both were very knowledgeable, answered all my questions, were easy to converse with, gave me great recommendations on hair care/skin care. I wanted to go back to get my hair colored by the same stylist too but I haven't gotten a chance to visit Austin after graduation yet - honestly thinking about visiting just to book an appointment The salon itself is in a great location on West 6th & it's spacious, clean, and modern. And the staff didn't try to sell me any of their product line - simply answered my questions about it & the products actually looked really great I'll have to buy them next time. The owner is wonderful and the manager is very nice and she really did all she could to accommodate me after a pretty gnarly color mishap at the hands of someone I won't name here, but even after all of that and attempting to set a comped repair appointment with one of their master stylists they called and told me the stylist wouldn't be available for the date we scheduled and offered another date or a different stylist. After what happened with my hair I think it's better to skip the free repair and just go elsewhere. The salon is welcoming, well appointed, etc etc and I know there are lots of excellent stylists there. Just be careful and ask to see their work before booking with the "newer" people especially if you're a blonde! read more
