While everything on the menu is good, don't sleep on the specials. I just tried the Muffuletta sandwich on special today and it blew my mind. Delicious deli meats and cheese stacked on towering, pillowy bread made for a sandwich with height and bite. The smear of olive tapenade on the bottom slice was rich and salty. Playing opposite was a tangy giardiniera. The muffuletta-style focaccia was baked in-house and was like a soft, fragrant carb cloud. The staff was incredibly sweet and attentive as always. With patio weather behind us, the cozy insides of this old church provided comfortable sanctuary from the cool misty October day. The Belfre continues to be my go-to spot in Delafield for every season. read more

Excellent restaurant. There's no other way to say it. The food, the staff, and the surroundings are all excellent. One suggestion for the chef: Cheese does not belong on fish. Not even a thin, pour-over layer of cheese. Not even in Wisconsin. It diminishes the taste of the fish. An important suggestion for diners: Make a reservation. This is my first time back at Belfre this winter season. I made reservations anticipating their winter menu. I was looking forward to their pot pie! It's a cold day in WI and I made the walk to Belfre expecting to be warmed and comforted by this pie. It's a Tuesday and by 12:20pm they ran out of pot pie. !!!!! I mentioned this in my previous review that Belfre always runs out of food. It's very disappointing. At this point it is a trend and expectation. Today I tried the bacon wrapped figs, shishito peppers, truffle fries, and the pan roasted cauliflower. Bacon Wrapped Figs $12: You can never go wrong with 8 pieces of bacon wrapped figs. The maple syrup dipping sauce was just okay, I much prefer a drizzle of maple syrup with arugula or goat cheese to really top this dish off. Shishito Peppers $7: Packed of ginger and lemon grass flavor. It really hit the spot and the peppers were blistered to perfection. Truffle Fries $8: Where are the belfries? Belfries were a Belfre staple and these truffle fries are not a replacement. These truffle flavors are less truffle and more umami. Pan Roasted Cauliflower $8: The herbed parmesan really made this dish come together. I wish I knew how to make these at home! I always enjoy coming to Belfre but am tired of not being able to try what I want to try. I'll be back when the Spring menu comes out. Stay tuned! read more

Love this place. Belfre is a real gem in downtown Delafield and all of Lake Country. We've been here several times, and its always been a pleasure. Most recently we came for dinner and sat outside on the lovely patio. Really love the vibe on the patio anytime its decent weather outside, such a chill place to sit and eat and drink... I had the Salmon which was delicious. The deserts were tasty. The Wisco Old Fashioned was on point as well. The service was pleasant and helpful. There was a glitch however in that our app orders were bungled, in that they never came out. While I wasn't happy with this, the way the staff responded was exceptional. The hostess immediately acknowledged the mistake, took responsibility, apologized and offered to make it right - and she did. This is how it should be done in service establishments, but you rarely see this, usually there is some halfassed apology and that's it. I was very impressed with her tact and charm in righting a wrong. Will definitely continue to come back. If I would offer one bit of constructive advice to this establishment, the menu is a bit limited and given the focus on new American, you need to be in that mood. They do have burgers, but a few (and only a few) additional comfort food type entrees would sometimes help picking what to eat and make the menu a bit more accessible. read more

This is a really cool restaurant. My daugher and I were in the area looking for a good breakfast -- I checked Yelp and this one looked great. The building looks like an old church. Inside, there are two floors. We were seated upstairs. It was very busy on a Saturday morning so it was pretty loud but not bad. I had pretty basic, eggs, bacon, toast. It was good. My daughter had the french toast and she LOVED it. It looked really really good. Very large portion size. We had great service and the food came out fast and hot. I'm giving this four stars because the hostess gave me the feeling she wanted me to walk away instead of adding me to the wait list and then she sat others as they walked up (she knew them). Also, the waitress, super sweet but obviously very busy, was nowhere to be found and it took over 30 minutes to get my order/see her again. With that said the coffee cart employees were delightful and my doughnuts and fizzie espresso and cream amazing. The outdoor seating is just my thing and there is plenty of it. The renovations are gorgeous. The food was perfect. The young man that offered me more water was professional, hospitable, welcoming, and made up for the lack in the other employees with which I had contact. read more

Eating out in restaurants has been a no-go for us, until we scored a spot in one of the Belfre Kitchen's outdoor domes!  Not only was the food amazing, but safety of dining solo in our own private space was among the highlights of this pandemic! Belfre had several transparent, heated plastic domes for patrons to enjoy a low-risk meal.  They aren't free, but definitely worth the additional, modest expense.  Each dome has heaters, fuzzy chairs, and a homey interior straight out of a William & Sonoma catalog.  We booked an early evening dinner, so the sun was still shining into our dome when we arrived. It was absolutely delightful.  We started the meal with the charcuterie board, which included two meats, two cheeses, pickled beets, mixed nuts, house made crackers, and some tangy berry preserves.  The meats were a departure from the usual "aged", funky, shaved amalgamation of meat and fat we typically experience on charcuterie boards. There was a more traditional, albeit fresh, sausage and  a really light smoked turkey.  The smooth, slightly creamy cheeses were the perfect compliment to the seedy, crunchy, sweet-ish crackers and salted nuts. The cheeses are a rotation of the chef's choice, so this board could be ordered again and again and be a whole new flavor extravaganza.  Next, we moved on to soup and the crab cake.  I don't know where they found fresh tomatoes this time of year, but the tomato basil soup was a cup of red, vine ripened goodness that transported me to July in a single bite.  The crab cake was equally good, but wasn't as hot or crispy as I would have preferred.  Thankfully, the remoulade and corn mixture that it was served with more than made up for any shortcomings.  Soon after our smaller bites, we shared a filet entree and roasted cauliflower.  The steak was perfectly cooked and enhanced by the blue cheese butter and balsamic sauce. The cauliflower, however, was the real star of the show.  The crispy crust, butter soaked florets, and sprinkling of pine nuts and Parmesean  made it among the best roasted vegetable dishes I've ever consumed.  The crispy potatoes and grill-kissed asparagus rounded out the meal with more gusto gusto than the typical steak house meal. The dessert menu had freshly fried donuts, so it needed to happen, despite being quite full. We actually also ordered the brownie. Both items were definitely meant for one, so I recommend not sharing! The donuts were lightly dusted with garam masala, which is everything right in the world. It gave them a whole new, unexpected level of interest. The brownie was thick, warm, and fudgy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Both desserts were top notch and went down perfectly with a cup of Valentine decaf.  Our dinner was just a small taste of what Belfre has to offer. I can't wait to enjoy more of their amazing menu! read more

Everyone in our party enjoyed the food. I informed our server that I need my food gluten free. Unfortunately, there must have been some cross contamination in the kitchen because I had a gluten reaction. I had no trouble with our first visit and ordered the same thing the second visit. It's an attractive building, and comfortable atmosphere. I would give it more stars if I wouldn't have had a reaction, but everyone else enjoyed the experience. read more

My wife was dying to try out Belfre so we made it a point to come out on a nice summer evening to sit outside. The atmosphere was great, the food was great, and the service was so-so. The waitstaff seemed to be younger and more inexperienced, so they didnt keep up as well as some other places, but overall we had a wonderful time and the food was good. We went for Sunday brunch with friendly in-laws. We REALLY wanted to enjoy the place since it was highly recommended by said in-laws, sadly they need to improve. The space itself, a remodeled church done in the Westin style is very nice. For our visit we were able to sit right down without a reservation and while most tables were occupied it was by no means crowded. My issues? My 2 pet peeves were on full display slow inattentive service and food not served at the correct temperature (lukewarm not hot). It's basically breakfast and it shouldn't be that challenging and my eggs Benedict might have been the best ever. I'll never know. read more

I love everything about this restaurant! We were happy we could find a last minute table for four on a Saturday night. They have an extensive list of seasonal cocktails and it hard for me to only choose one. Can't drink alcohol? No worries- they serve both Seedlip (distilled non-alcoholic spirit) and mocktails. Our friends that ordered the Seedlip cocktails really enjoyed theirs. I ordered the Pomegranate Paloma. I was a fan that it was tart and spirit-forward. My friend and I split the Fall Harvest Bruschetta and Roasted Cauliflower. Both were delicious and we both felt satisfied after eating those for our meal. My family and I read such great things about Belfre online and were looking forward to trying it! We ordered drop donuts for the table which were my favorite. They are donut holes rolled in an Indian spice and sugar. It sounds very different but is very delicious and unique! I ordered the French toast and enjoyed how thick and homemade the dish was but it was very sweet. My parents ordered the breakfast pizza which was tasty and a frittata. They both enjoyed their entrees. Overall the food was good and it was a cute little place (it used to be an old church that they converted into a restaurant) but it was a little pricey. Perhaps the best restaurant in this area. My company has an office down the street and we eat at Belfre more than twice per month. If I have a client or prospective client in town I always take them to Belfre. They have a great patio and the service is always on point with really friendly servers. They have one of the most sophisticated menus in the area and a notable wine list. Their craft cocktails are also really nice. The inside is welcoming but also a very trendy and exudes high end service & dining. This summer was a little disappointing compared to other times I have been. They change the menu frequently but this summer it was a little boring. Some items I really enjoyed were the deviled eggs and the ahi tuna wraps. They always do a great job on their salmon. My husband and I decided to dine in Delafield tonight. We chose Belfry because of their outdoor patio. We did get immediate seating outside on the patio. Our waitress greeted us. She said she would get us water and highlighted the oysters and peppers on the menu but never asked for a drink order. I had to ask her as she left the table for a glass of wine. As a guest my expectation is to be welcomed, asked if I have ever dined here before and then asked if I'd like a drink from the bar. Our waitress was not enthusiastic. This is a beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere, we loved the outside dining. The mimosa flights were very good and we loved trying all the different flavors, prickly pear was our favorite. We ordered the vegetable hash and the breakfast egg burrito, both were very good. The servers were very helpful and even moved an umbrella to help keep us shaded! The only reason i gave a 4/5 was that the breakfast potatoes could be seasoned and cooked a little more, they were pretty hard.
