I struggled with what to score this. The service was terrible. The lady in charge was yelling loudly at the employees and all the orders were crazy messed up. Every person there was gruff and seemed annoyed I came in. I expect a little of this in middle eastern restaurants but nothing like this. I was just uncomfortable. They were having cc issues so some slack could be cut but it was not being handled well. To top it off I tried to pay with cash and they took like 4 other people before me even though I was standing right there. (Service 1/5) My food was also really over cooked. I ordered the mixed grill with rice and the meat was super dry and tough. It had great spicing and I can see why people would like it if it was cooked well. The redeeming part of the meal was the rice. Big almond slices and spices were great. (Food 3/5 coulda been a 5 on a different night) I am going to chock my experience up to a bad night for them and maybe give them a 2nd try the next time I'm in town, but to be honest this one experience sucked. read more

I've ordered from here several. Food is usually great but I don't like that they don't specify asking whether you want dark meat chicken or white meat. So if you don't know or forget to ask, then you'll get dark meat which is very fatty. Had to throw out mist of the meal because it was just too fatty. Should offer more rice, pita and garlic sauce with the meal. Great that pickles, tomato and onion came with it. Shouldn't add the cinnamon stick to the lemon chicken rice soup. read more

I ordered on line : Lamb chop dinner They called me and said they were out of chops but said they could give me two lamb kabobs instead. I also upgraded the salad to a Greek salad. When I got home with it there were no kabobs, just some lamb cut up on the side and not very much. They gave me a regular salad and Greek dressing and they charge me $2 extra for what comes with the dinner. The food was just ok, nothing to say I'll go back again. Got a mixed-grill shawarma sandwich for takeout right after deplaning down the road at DTW, but I wish I'd eaten in. Not because the place is especially remarkable, but because the the owner and the boys working there are endearing characters--warm, friendly, funny, and entertaining, without intruding if you just want a meal to yourself. Though if I'd stayed, I would've ordered a fresh juice and some baklava, and I didn't need the calories. The shawarma itself was delish. Not spicy, but full of flavor in no small part due to the copious amounts of garlic and onion. As good as any shawarma I've had in the actual city of Beirut. I must have come on an off night. The experience I had here did not equate to most of the positive reviews I've read here. We got in and got seated right away, and were brought waters...mine was in a dirty glass, my friend's was in a soapy glass (he didn't mind the bubbly water though). When we were finally asked if we were ready to order, my friend ordered lamb chops, and I ordered the mixed shawarma, and given the quality of the water glass I had, I decided to get something other than water and asked for one of their "freshly made" lemonade. And then we waited...and waited...and waited a good 10 minutes at least, then finally got the lemonade. Then we waited, and then waited some more, so long that my friend and I could have easily had at least 3 more glasses of water (but they never came back to check on us) and finally the salad that comes with the meal arrived. The salad itself was good, with a nice dressing and a good balance of greens; it was probably the best thing we had there that evening. We then finished our salads, and we also finished our drinks, but still...they never came back with more water even after they took the salad plates! We finally got our food, and also a long-awaited drink refill. We both agreed, the food that we have been waiting for was extremely salty, and the rice was super oily. So much so that we both couldn't make it even halfway through the plate. We decided to call it a meal, and waited (again...) for ANY sever to come back and check on us. Of course none did, so we just walked up to the counter to pay and left. I really wanted to like this place, but in the end it was slow service mixed with overly salty and oily food (and pre-packaged pita in plastic bags). Living this close to Dearborn, I may be a bit spoiled when it comes to authentic Middle Eastern food, BUT... There's nothing exotic about someone with a bad attitude. The food was sub-par, but the worst part is that my Mom was out visiting from Ann Arbor and craved a good Shawarma. We ordered on GrubHub and then she went and picked it up and was treated "shittily" (is that a word?) buy the chick working there. I was EM-BARRASSED (and hungry)! Seemed like it was all made from scratch. Price was right too. The staff was very friendly. I ordered my food for delivery at 6:38p and did not receive it until 8:40p. This place is 7 minutes from my house! I had to call the restaurant at 8:25 to get my food. No explanation as to why my food was not here yet. I was told the food would be delivered in the next five minutes. I paid $23 for me having to go outside onto my porch because the guy would not come to my front door to give me my food. Absolutely the worst service I have ever had. Sometimes, when you have something good going for a long time you lose a desire to renew the first experience and you lose the appreciation. Beirut Restaurant exemplifies that to me. They are very busy and they are in the transit area with the bunch of hotels near the Detroit airport and I noticed that they have many repeated local customers that appears not to worry to much when their server makes a mistake in their order. I did not get what I ordered and the server tried to pursued me that I pointed to something else. It did not work work for her so after 30 seconds of explaining my finger position in relation to the menu she said that she will bring me my order. The right thing would have been to confirm the order the first time - is this what you want (just to make sure). A person next to me got a wrong drink and his server tried to make him believe that they never had something that he orders often. Two servers kept shouting to each other and then to the kitchen person. I understand that the place is busy and that they work under the duress but you have to make me feel good in your place, even if I am not a flight attendant who buys their food every time when in Detroit. The food was not memorable. Hummus was no different than Sabre brand, bread was cold and fried kibbeh was very dry. I'd give zero stars if I could. Called this morning and ordered food and a $22 tray of Baklava, which the man confirmed was there. I get there and the woman lifts some clear trays and tells me to pull the box of Baklava out from underneath. I paid for everything. I get home and open the box to find that it isn't Baklava, rather a mix of pastries, which I have had before and didn't like. When I called to let them know about the mistake, the man was very rude and repeatedly told me that it was Baklava. I told him that I buy from them regularly and this is not Baklava and does not taste the same. He rudely told me to bring it back. I informed him that I am 35 miles away. Easily a great place to eat while on a layover in Dtw! Close to all hotels. It looks a tad sketchy from the outside but I'm so glad my friend had me try it. Order the veggitarian platter and had the grape leaf wrap, falafel, Greek salad, and hummus. And my god, it was incredible. Fresh, full of flavor, and massive. First red flag. After I placed my order, I go use the restroom to walk in on the bus boy (older gentleman) with his hand in a full sink of water. I ordered 2 shwarmas, meat patty appetizer , garlic sauce and pita bread. 20 minutes after I placed the to go order, they yell from the counter, sir we don't have any meat patties (while they placed my 2 sandwiches in a bag), then asked me if I wanted spinach pies instead ? I only agreed cause the owner ( I assume) says they're good, give him one extra. So I wait another 10 min for those to get done ( why I have no idea, cause they nuked them). The kid comes from the back with the pies placed them in the bag with the sandwiches, begins to tie it up, I stop him to investigate what's in there. They didn't give me the pita and garlic sauce so the kid turns around grabs some sauce from a counter goes in the back puts ( what I thought to be ) pita chips into a little bowl puts in the bag and I leave. Less than a 2 minute drive to my hotel our sandwiches are cold and the pita chips turned out to be some unknown fried substance. Seriously one of my places to eat. This place is delicious. Every time I'm here to visit I go here. I know I'll get lots of food. Eat too much. Leave with lots of left overs.
