Well, the family is nice. Food was just fair. I hoped for a much better experience, but flavors are Americanized. This is one wonderful ethnic cuisine that should not be watered down. I basically grew up here Ali and Hassan were always very sweet to my family the food is top notch I believe the original staff started taking a step back and left the day to day to the younger staff so there is a bit of a learning curve but my food has stayed good and so has the service that's all that matters. read more

Absolutely delicious. The food is so amazing and authentic. Suggestions: get the baba ghannouj, the mixed shawarma plate, sojok, shish tawook, and chicken lemon rice soup. Get the platter of baklava and spilt it with friends- it comes with 4-5 different varieties and is a wonderful shared experience. The baklava is a bit heavy on the rose water, if you don't like rose water then you won't enjoy it as much. I loved it! It should be mentioned that cleanliness is not their strong suit. The bathrooms are dirty, the tables are not cleaned off quickly, and you eat on styrofoam and plastic utensils. Not great for the environment. read more

A waitress in a hijab walked right by, and didn't even look at me. Finally, the owner (?) came out, apologized profusely, and took my order. I had the spinach pie & hummus w/ Sojuk appetizers. The spinach pies were soggy and "bready"... I'll probably skip it in the future. I prefer a crisp Greek Spanakopita. The hummus w/ Sojuk was good. I had this last time, too. VERY good. Delicious! Everything fresh, tasty, and perfectly seasoned. My husband got the appetizer platter and loved absolutely everything on it. He & I both agree that the baba ghanouj was particularly on point- smoky, smooth, garlicky perfection. My teens got the chicken shawarmas and fully endorsed them as tasty, especially the garlic sauce. I got the large Greek salad and it was HUGE! I was sure that a small would not be enough- given the price I thought it surely had to be more of a side salad- and boy was I wrong! House dressing (a vinaigrette) was nicely balanced and all veggies were fresh & crisp. Top it off with friendly, fast service and excellent prices (at least compared to CO), this place is a winner. My only regret is that we're leaving tomorrow & can't come back for more. read more

Terrible service. Went to their website to place an order for delivery and was directed to their delivery service called "Eat Street." After 1.5 hours, I contacted the restaurant and they stated that they received the order but didn't prepare the food yet. My family and I are going to bed hungry. Was just through town. I normally get the Fatosh Salad with grilled chicken. The container comes brimming with veggies & is enough for two meals! It also comes with a side of pita bread that you can snack on for a couple of days. The chicken shawarma sandwich is amazing, as too is the falafel if you're looking for something vegetarian. We lodged at a hotel near Beirut restaurant. Tired of eating burgers and fries, we gave it a try and it was a hidden gem. Their vegetarian grape's leaves appetizer was detectable. The grilled lamp chops were superb because there were no gamey taste. The side salad was fresh and an entree portion. But I decided to try to mix grill. I love their rice and everything was delicious. I ate the other half for dinner later! It came with two sauces that were both exceptional. One was a garlic sauce and one a sort of thick Greek yogurt tzkiki (sp) type. Also have good rice pudding and baklava. No doubt impressed although I ended up spending almost $70 on lunch for two. We went all out but that is still on the expensive side. It is made up for by the quality and quantity combined. I'm giving four stars instead of five because of presentation and being SLIGHTLY over priced in my opinion... The restaurant on the outside does not look welcoming. It's older and run down looking a bit. The inside is also older and cheaply decorated. They need new tables and booths that are bigger. We stopped here because it was super close to the airport, and after a long flight it seemed like a decent choice. We were seated right away, but that was the only quick thing about the place. I ordered just Tabouli and a large hummus. My husband ordered a chicken shawarma. The two women working were disinterested in taking care of the customers. There were quite a few tables seated but not a lot of service going on. We had to ask for a water three times, and then they brought out only one for the two of us. It took about ten minutes before our order was taken, and then another 25 minutes for my salad and hummus to be brought out. But my husband was told his food would be up shortly. Another 25 minutes went by and finally my husband went to the counter to ask to cancel his portion. They argued with him, saying they were just about to cook it. It had been 50 minutes or more since we placed the simple order and they had not even started his order. No water for him, no food for him. My food was fine, but honestly there are hundreds of other places in the area that are much better, and much cleaner. Oh, the entire place is pretty filthy. Yum. Tasty, cheap and plentiful. The local staff at the airport as well as cabbies and limo guys entirely agree with me it seems. I saw an assortment of them while I was getting my carryout. I had a super kafta sandwich (lamb) which has hummus and tabbouli on it. They added pickles for me and a bit of garlic sauce which is a must, a bit messyish but I was eating at home anywho. Total was under 5 bucks and it filled me up nicely. I thought the combo of flavors was very nice and the amount super generous. Not too far a drive and therefore handy. Service was speedy and friendly and of course the end product was better for me than most meals for under five bucks. I will be back :). read more

I'm going to make a blanket statement. Yelp does not work in Detroit. The foodies have nothing to compare against and it's not their fault. So if locals rate a place, I would dock it 1-2 stars. I read a few mixed reviews about Beirut so decided to give it a try. The Fattouch salad was great - very fresh greens but the fried pita chips were mixed. That was unexpected and not very good so I picked those out. I also got a side of lamb/chicken to top the salad and a side of hummus. All in all a great value because you get lots of food for the price but not all was worthy. Call me spoiled but the food in other more densely populated cities are good and it has to be given the competition out there. read more

I thought that the food was really good. The sandwiches were much larger than the usual schwarma. There was a lot of sauce inside, which was kinda nice too. The hummus was great, as was the bread. The service was a little lacking. She wasn't exactly the most friendly person I've ever met - but I have been on a Caribbean island where service is what one would call a joke. So, she was better than that, but walked past us w/o saying something like, "I'll be right with you". Meanwhile, there was only one other person in the restaurant - so she had the time. We thought the food was so good that we decided to order more for dinner that night. We ordered a large hummus, and when we got home realized that we got the same amount of bread that we had when we ordered the small version in the restaurant. I really hate it when restaurants do that kind of stuff. We are an hour away from the restaurant - it's not like I can go back and get more. Even if it were only 5 min away, it still would have been annoying. I just wish that people with restaurants would think, "how would I want this if I took it home?" - would make everyone a lot happier. So now I've got a TON of hummus, with no bread. Hmmm... Best Middle Eastern food we had in Michigan! We traveled to meet up with friends and tried several Middle Eastern Restaurants. We lived in the Middle East and really missed the food. This is kind of a romance story. We landed in Detroit and went seeking food, but it was right near the airport all along. On our last day we stayed near the airport and called for a delivery order.
