Everything here was delicious. Loved the lentil soup, baba ghanoush, and hummus. The fattoush salad was a bit overdressed. The mixed grill platter was so good -- all the meats we're tender, the buttered rice was amazing (I am addicted to that stuff), the grilled vegetables were well-cooked and it came with toum and another zesty sauce. Was staying in a hotel right next door and was recommended to try Beirut for authentic Lebanese. This is a traditional Muslim-run restaurant so no alcohol is served. We were a large party of 8 and ordered their massive platter and it was a thing of beauty - so many flavors and textures and bowls of sauces to pass around! 4 of us took to-go boxes and still left some bits behind. The way the rice was spiced was amazing, even the fries were something special. I ordered the mixed Schwarma plate with rice and lemon chicken egg soup. The chicken was good-- however the beef was very dry, and the plate was more beef than chicken, unfortunately. The rice was flavorful with onions, tomatoes throughout. The soup was okay, but not the best I've had. Portions were big. Staff were so nice and friendly. Great food at great prices. The service is top-notch and they honestly embody the friendly nature of everyone in the Midwest. One of the best customer service of all time as they really do treat you like family. For 3 we ordered a Beirut Platter ($34.99) that was meant for two but was way too much, we could barely finish it. The star of the dish is, surprisingly, the rice as it has its own flavor and the grains are much fatter than usual. By the way, grape leaves are, I guess, the Mediterranean version of fried rice wrapped in these edible leaves. The flavor is kind of hard to get used to if you are not used to a somewhat bitter aftertaste and Mediterranean spices. Everything else on the plate was pretty good. I definitely recommend the fattouch salad, especially if you love feta cheese. Also, opt for the Baba Ganouj instead of the hummus because it has such a unique smoky aftertaste, it is definitely worth a try! One warning is to not eat the pita bread because it is kind of sketchy as it seemed like they made it hours ago as it is wrapped in the plastic bag sort of thing. read more

We were here in Michigan to buy our new Audi Q5 from Audi Ann Arbor and then drove to Detroit airport to drop off our one-way rental. Having a stressful day at the dealership and being extremely hungry we decided to grab some food. Saw a shwarma place nearby with high ratings we decided to try it out. We ordered Chicken shwarma and falafel sandwich. Both were very different from what we eat in Pita inn or any other restaurant in the Chicago area. We really loved the sandwich and were craving for them when we got back to Chicago. 4 months later My wife had to work with a doctor in the Dearborn area and we booked an extended stay near the airport. Craving for Shwarma decided to go to Beirut again. When I put in my GPS we were amazed to see Beirut was just 0.5 miles away. There you go! We were so happy! Driving around Dearborn we realized there are million shwarma places around. Hence began our best shwarma place quest! We tried about 20 different shwarma places over a span of 33 days and I can safely say Beirut was among top 3. Most of them tasted similar but something in the sandwich made beirut better than most. We Tried chicken shish kefta , chicken shwarma, super falafel, vegetarian gallaya . All were really good. If you are around the airport area, I definitely recommend you try this place out! read more

I came here because it was close to my hotel near the Detroit airport. The waiters were a bit slow, but very friendly and kind. There was sketchy bread on the table which was very interesting to me because I've never seen it before. They DO charge you if you open/eat the bread. I don't really recommend eating it. My sister opened it, thinking it was free so I tried it and it had a weird taste. After looking at the menu, my family and I decided to get the Beirut Platter which included Fattoush and Baba Ganoush. Fattoush- Honestly I loved this. It tasted sooo good. I could see myself just getting this as a meal. The feta cheese added nice flavor to the crunchy salad. Just awesome. Baba Ganoush- Not the biggest fan of this, but I got this because I never tried it before. It tasted smoked and a bit like smoked salmon. My family loved it, but it wasn't my taste. I probably would have liked the hummus a bit more. Beriut Platter- My dad, my sister, and I got the Beriut Platter for 2 people, thinking it would be smaller, but it was literally huge. It included many types of meat. Overall, the meat was a bit on the dry side. We ordered medium rare, but it turned out to be more well done. I wasn't a big fan of the grape leaves. The service was horrible. Staff was too busy in their conversations to pay attention to customers. When someone finally came to the table you could tell they were not listening. This place has went all the way to the worst place to eat anything. My most recent and for sure the last visit was it for me! I ordered dinner after a flight that was awful. It cost fifty dollars for two meals that were completely inedible. The kafta was hard and dry and the chicken was dry and greasy. I won't even begin to talk about the discuss that I seen behind doors of the kitchen. It looks as if it hadn't been cleaned in a while. The floors were cover in fallen food and grease. This place never disappoints when it comes to flavor!! This is probably the closest as it gets to real shawarma!! The chicken shawarma sandwich is always bursting with flavor, and it's authentic because I've actually had real shawarma in the Middle East! Also their baba ganoush is one of my favorite because it's very distinct in its eggplant flavor! The service is always great over here the only thing is sometimes they like to close early so they will still honor to go orders after 9pm but Will not let you dine in an hour prior to close. Something changed at this place. I had a lunch today and took a take out for dinner as I used to do while traveling. The lentil soup was great. I also ordered a Creek salad with salmon. The salmon was taken from a different dish (some peaces of vegetables and mushrooms were stack on the bottom of it. The yesterday's salmon was charged as a separate dinner dish. On top of it the waiter changed my card by $2 more before a tip (which I found out later) without any explanation, which is basically a stealing from customers. The falafel was dry as the sole without any taste and the salad consisted mainly of tiny chopped parsley. What a shame. I will never ever again stop at this place. Have some decency, guys. My coworkers and I had asked a couple people where we should go for dinner and Beirut Restaurant came up several times, so decided to try. The employees are super friendly. I have had Middle Eastern food before but my coworkers had not so we had lots of questions. Our server was so patient and explained the menu and gave us lots of options. We started with the Tabouli Salad and some Hummus which were both great. We couldn't decide on entrees with so many delicious sounding choices. Out server suggested the Beirut Platter for Two. With the Hummus and Salad, she said it would be plenty for the 3 of us. It definitely was enough and was a wonderful mix of food. I really liked the Shish Tawook, which are perfectly marinated chicken skewers with a garlicky sauce. There wasn't anything on the platter I didn't like. This place is a little hole in the wall with a home feeling that his location near a lot of hotels in the Detroit Romulus area. I stay a lot here for work and had heard nothing but great things about this place so glad I finally had the chance to try it. Our server was the owner, her service and sense of humor absolutely makes this place even better. For starters, they make the best hummus I have every tried in my life, it's a must try. She also gave us a sample of what she calls "garlic crack" it's a combo of yogurt and garlic with a citrusy kick, oh my! Next I tried but her suggestion the lentil soup, now I am not the biggest fan of lentil but wow this soup changed my prospective on that it's was so good! Wow! I'm glad I stumbled upon this gem, inconspicuously hidden in a shopping plaza between the Holiday Inn Express and the America's Best Value Inn. I was staying the night at an airport hotel, and wanted to eat somewhere that wasn't a hotel restaurant. This was an easy two-block walk from the Holiday Inn, and even closer if you are at the Spring Hill Suites, Sheraton, or Fairfield Inn. The interior of the restaurant is very plain - disheveled even. There are no tablecloths or any decor to speak of. If you're looking for a romantic candlelit dinner, this is not the place! The food, on the other hand, was delicious! The menu had all the classic Lebanese and Mediterranean dishes on it. Kebabs, tabouleh, shawarma, hummus - it's all there. All the entrees were between $17-$20 and come with (rice or fries) and (soup or salad). I had a dinner of two grilled pieces of spiced chicken and two pieces of spiced beef. It was absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly spiced, the rice was Served with oil and nuts, and the salad that came with it was amazingly good can't recommend this spot highly enough! read more

Their fresh juices for $4.49 are on point. Got strawberry mango and Apple which was awesome. I also had some great salmon on a bed of hummos with strange ribbon like pita bread. The salmon was delicate and cooked expertly in spices making it flavorful as well as true to its salmon flavor. The Lebanese chef made love to the fish with his treatment of it. He did not overwhelm the salmon. He carresed its cheeks and cajoled the flavor to the front by means of his masterful use of spice profiles. The hummos was rock on solid as you'd expect from any decent middle eastern place. Rice pudding made with rose water was high quality but a touch underwhelming to my American pallate. read more

My second one star review. The food and service are sooo average. With the exception of the hummus, I wouldn't go back. I ordered a shish tawook sandwich it was advertised as being chicken breast meat, pretty sure it was breast and thigh meat, certainly not a crime, but NOT what was advertised. I also ordered a side of onion rings; I questioned my server "are these made in-house, or frozen from a bag" she assured me that yes, they were made fresh. Seven bucks for onion rings, which is why I asked. Folks, I could have walked down the street to Burger King and gotten that same exact plate of onion rings for $2.50. When I pointed this out when she brought my bill, she mumbled some crap about "not knowing" when she'd positively assured me they were homemade. So one star. We've been coming here forever and we've introduced the food to numerous friends and family members. The food is truly very good. The lamb kofta, chicken shawarma, and hummus are some of the best I've had. However: Here's a recommendation: do NOT eat inside. It is filthy. The bathrooms haven't been cleaned in a decade. The sockets and baseboards are black throughout the restaurant. The worst? The kitchen. How do they pass health inspections? The last thing - and this goes so far in my book - I want to say to the owners is this: the two young ladies manning your front counter do not give a crap AT ALL about your business. They spent their time eating behind the counter then counting money then serving with zero hand washing. They gossiped, flirted, ignored people at the counter while orders were piling up.
