Yay an actual Chinese spot that reminds me of all the goodies I eat in queens and the city without the schlep to queens or the city to get them! Staff is really nice and friendly and super fast. Everything we had wasn't crazy ladened with msg and all was flavored and seasoned perfectly. Homestyle lamb with cilantro did not have an overpowering cilantro taste but had generous portions of lamb in it. The chives with sliced tofu skin had a light sauce packed with great flavor too. Must try their sauteed sour beans with minced pork. Nice spicy briney kick in every bite! I was in the area, hangry and decided to try this place out. On a Saturday night, stepped in about 6 and I was like - where is everyone? Then about a half hour later, it got packed. Had the following dishes- Chicken chow fun - it's the flat noodle with chicken, snow peas and carrots. It was the right amount of flavor, not too salty. Hot and sour soup - standard Sweet and sour pork - it was suppose to be Beijing style, felt a bit over fried, and a bit dry Home style tofu - it was fried tofu, with pepper, onions, and some mushroom cousin. This was flavorful, a bit unique. Service was good - lady was attentive and came to check on us. Decor was very nice, you can tell they made an effort to make it nice and standout. It was like dining outside but inside. They positioned the lights like street lamp posts on the wall. They have nice decorative canvases of various themes. Quite unique if you were bringing someone on a date. It is a small place, not a ton of tables, probably ten tables. Part of a strip mall, so there is parking. I called the restaurant to file complaint, and the restaurant said I was bullshit. They said " if you ordered this dish again, we can give you 50% off discount for next time. 3.5 Stars Decent Chinese restaurant in the area. We ordered several dishes for take out and all of them had lots of flavor, a bit too much on the saucy/salty side. Some dishes we got: - Ox Tendon and Tripe with Chili Sauce: perfectly tender meat and tripe, just a hint of spice. - Fried Chicken Cubes in Chili Pepper: plenty of diced chicken that were crispy on the outside, even after the car ride back home. The pieces were pretty small but there were lots of fried chilis. The fried garlic was also a great compliment. - Braised meatballs: I usually love this dish and although the meat was very tender, the sauce was too salty for me. It was more on the overpowering side. - Sliced Beef with Green Chili Peppers: the beef was tender and the chili peppers weren't too spicy but the dish overall was just okay. Crispy Sweet & Sour Fish: sauce comes on the side, which kept the fish crispy. The fish chunks were thick and came right off. The sauce can be a bit too much. Overall, would probably come back since there aren't many Chinese restaurants around here. It was easy ordering and pick up. It's been a while since we ordered from here. Apparently under new ownership and newly renovated. Went for a friend's birthday dinner. Was so impressed by the food we ordered out the next night. Definitely on the more authentic side of Chinese food. Soup dumplings are very tasty although a few were broken. My kids love the Crispy Beef. It's on the sweeter side for me but the crunch is addicting. Love the pork belly in garlic and spicy sauce. We made it extra spicy and numbing. Bonus, they deliver to area towns with $15 min and $2 delivery charge only! No need to pay extra through an app! Would take off half a star bc it's on the pricier side. I didn't see brown rice as an option, I ordered the lunch soup to start. There are a few choices, my go to soup is always Hot & Sour. For my entree, I ordered General Tsao's chicken. My soup comes out and man, it is crazy good. They put a lot of love in this soup. Lots of ingredients, one of the best Hot & sour soups I ever had. If you like H&S, you need to come to Beijing House just for the soup. My General Tsao's chicken? What a large lunch portion. Oh, and no forks were brought to my table. I could have asked but I'm here at the house of house of Beijing. And the house always wins. Chopsticks it is. The General Tsao's chicken, plumply little things to pick up with sticks! I had some rice, some chicken, some more rice. I got into a groove and the chicken? Forget Kung Pow, call it General Pow! Soooo good and not heavily breaded, this was truly a great lunch special. When I entered to pick it up the women behind the counter were beyond rude for absolutely no reason. Ever enter an establishment -as a customer - and say "hi!" and get blank stares back ....in stereo? So I say to myself, "ooooookay, grab your food and go". Which I do, once they just point my bag out to me that's sitting on a table. Might be a surcharge for actually giving it to the customer here. This is another visit to a Yelp-bookmarked restaurant out in Nassau County, this time, Beijing House in Syosset. Beijing House is located in a set of stores on Jericho Turnpike in Syosset. Upon entering, it's noticeably bright and comfortable with amedium-sized dining room filled with 4 seat tables. I assumed that the restaurant served Beijing-style food because of its name. Although I am not thoroughly versed in the cuisine, I did find many unfamiliar dishes, which I assume are from that region. The first thing that I noticed on the menu was that more half of it contained pictures with numbers. It's not the usual small squares, but full illustrations taking a third to half a page. I felt it was helpful for diners navigating an unfamiliar regional Chinese cuisine. We ordered one appetizer, and three shared entrees. They were: scallion pancakes, fried squid tentacles with celery and chili, preserved vegetables with braised pork belly, and stir-fried cumin lamb. Since I do not have the menu in front of me, the names are approximations of what I think the dishes are called. Here are my thoughts about the dishes: The scallion pancakes, were thinner than usual, but above average. They were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The fried squid dish was really good, but I felt there could have been more squid. It was well-seasoned and had delicate thin strips of celery to give your mouth a break from the saltiness of the squid. The heat level was negligible. The preserved vegetable with braised pork belly was excellent. This dish isn't dong po pork, although it looks a lot like it in the menu. It's actually pork belly cut in thin strips, like bacon and cooked together. When you eat, you just peel off each layer. Coupled with the umami of the preserved salty vegetables, it was excellent. Don't worry about the saltiness because it isn't. Finally, the stir-fried cumin lamb was different. In Sichuanese restaurants, you usually get it deep-fried and then stir fried in a cumin-salt mixture. However, in the Beijing version, you actually see the cumin on the lamb slices! There's only a tiny bit of chili added for heat and finally, this version is strictly stir-fried, so no crunchy layer on top, just pure lamb flavor. I assume the Beijing version of this dish is stir-fried. This is a great change of pace for those looking for something different. I felt the service was good. The food took some time and came out sporadically but this is because they are making these dishes from scratch and not in a haphazard way. You can tell from the quality and care. As for prices, you can go from $13 to $30 per entrée depending on what you order. I would definitely come back if I want something other than the more common Sichuanese, Cantonese or Shanghainese restaurants. read more

Wasn't a very good experience. I went in while I was waiting for an Uber and whenever I asked a question they looked like I had 5 heads. I asked for dumplings and they told me they were like $11. (That's a pretty high price for dumplings, usually they're like -$5-$9.) I felt like I was aggravating them with my presence. So I left and that's why the 2 Star rating. Far above your usual LI Chinese food. Suggest looking at pictures on the website - which don't necessarily have names - but the extra work is worth it. We recently had eggplant w garlic sauce, tofu skin with pork, and shredded pork with garlic (may not be exact names) and and these were quite good. I ordered the Crispy Chicken, the menu says it's a half chicken. Whatever I got didn't look like half of a chicken.
