Their scallion pancakes are the best I've ever had, anywhere. I didn't know how good this place was until I moved to Queens and now find myself driving back (40 minutes each way) occasionally for high quality, delicious Chinese-American take out. I've ordered from here a few times based on the reviews. The quality of the food is average and inconsistent. I've ordered pretty standard dishes, and they tasted different each time. I moved to Glen Cove from the south shore about a year ago. I have tried every place in Glen Cove and this place is the best. The ribs were full of meat not fat. The food is fresh. And they delivered fast. Not to mention the amount of food they provide. We ordered two small dishes and have left overs for tomorrow. I am very picky about my Chinese food and only give a place one shot. If they don't get it right I am on my way to another Chinese place, there are so many of them out there to choose from. We have ordered from here regularly for a few months now. After the mosquito in my egg drop soup today, I think I need to take a break. Yes, it can happen anywhere, but after seeing the cockroach in another persons review, I'm having a tough time. The food is pretty inconsistant. a good chinese food joint for eating in or takeout in glen cove . i am a bit puzzle by some of the really bad reviews cause even though it's a typical chinese food menu restaurant the food is typically good in my experience eating take out and sitting in my car munching .. the service is very good as the young gal taking me order was mistake free . . some wonton soup , a large order of boneless spare ribs and an entree of chicken in garlic sauce and veggie fried rice which was shared by 2 for about 30 bucks was more then fair when you consider the entree was stacked with plenty of white meat chicken . i was a bit puzzled that it was semi empty on a wednesday night but it kinda hidden in an outdoor strip mall with a bunch of other shops . overall it was worth the visit and a return visit soon , some more choices to try on my next visit . read more

I've had bad takeout all over NYC and Long Island and I've had bad takeout in China itself as well as the best Chinese food I've ever had. Since I had no cash I had to leave empty handed. OK I understand about min fee's but occasionally you need to make an exception to the rule for a regular customer. I have to give this place credit for being awesome every year. They manage to make great chinese food 95% of the time (Though I always order weekdays and before 5pm) and somehow manage to keep their prices consistent. They give ample sauce packets, and if asked, are quick to give many more (and napkins too!). A ton of food can be purchased for $20, like an unfathomable amount. Have been a long time customer. Love the taste of the food. It is delicious! The past few months my family has been noticing they are skimping on the meat. Ordered beef and pork dishes recently. 3/4 veges 1/4 meat. What has happened! After the first person takes from an entree there is no meat left! This place used to solve the problem of nothing but bad Chinese restaurants in the Glen Cove area. When China Palace changed ownership and became cleaner, more nicely appointed and, well, worse when it came to the food, China King was an oasis for edible Chinese food in a sea of crap. No more. It has joined the ranks of 'rank'. Absolutely horrible now. Lemon chicken appears in the "chef's special" column. Well, funny thing...it's worse than the not-so-special standard stuff. One small fried chicken cutlet on a raft of iceberg lettuce with a side of slimy lemon-flavored goo. Horrible. Crispy beef--I dare you to get a steak knife through a piece. It's pre-frozen, breaded and if you like sinew, nerve and small blood vessels in your beef you've come to the right place. Steamed dumplings are small, gray and wholly uninviting. So, that basically leaves the Glen Cove/Locust Valley area bereft for Chinese food. You'll have to go to Flushing for authentic stuff, or you can cut that trip short and go to a really wonderful place--Little Dumpling on the south side of Northern Boulevard in Little Neck. After the way Chinese cuisine has deserted our area, it's well worth the trip to the 'city line' for Little Dumpling. Try the soup dumplings. They're not quite as good as those at Joe's Shanghai in Flushing, but then again, you don't have to trek all the way to Flushing. read more
