I have been to Hong Kong Kitchen a few times now and have throughly enjoyed my food and the takeout experience here. Hong Kong Kitchen has been here for many year's and many of my local friends swear by it. When I made my first visit after the pandemic started, I was very impressed with the protection they have offered to both the staff and public. Basically plexiglass from counter to ceiling and they even added counter to cover the entire front. Small opening to deliver food and collect money. I DO NOT understand the negative reviews. The only thing consistent about them is they are nasty and come from yelpers with less then 10 reviews. I don't believe that you can consider these real. I have always enjoyed the food here, usually chicken and peanuts, Egg Foo Young, Fried Rice, Egg Roll and soups. EVERYTHING...always fresh, tasty, and sizable portions. I have come here for lunch and late nights on my way home. There has always been a consistent- pleasurable people behind the counter. They have plenty of people cooking so I have never had to wait for any real length of time. Prices are also very reasonable. I am definitely looking forward to going back and they are now my 'goto' for Chinese takeout! read more

If they were not, they would not be in business for as long as they have been. Prices are very good and generally have the wonton egg drop mix soup. Also egg rolls and spring rolls. Terrible customer service. I ordered scallion pancakes, and from the picture you can clearly see they are burned. And it was tough to eat. I brought it back to the restaurant and asked for a new order and the lady at the front kept saying this is how it's supposed to look. She then picked out one or two good pieces and asked if these were burned as a means of justifying the dish. She refused to admit the mistake. I've been here a few times before and ordered scallion pancakes and never had them burned before so I know what it's supposed to look like. Will NOT be returning to this restaurant. I called for an order, they wanted to charge me $1.09 for extra mustard. Last time I ordered from them - no charge. The woman who answered the phone was the rudest person I've ever spoken with - also - their spare ribs were all fat and no meat. Since moving into this neighborhood several years ago, I have tried multiple chinese takeout places and have found this place to be the best so far. Overall , we've had consistent service, decent food, not over salted / bland. Their egg rolls are really good! The only bad thing we've had from them were the fried egg noodle chips that come with your orders - might be using old oil or bad oil - other than that, doesn't make and break our meals. read more

I have ordered here for years and they used to be very nice but the staff and family that owns the store has become very rude. I recently ordered online for delivery where they give you free delivery but you need to have a 20$ minimum for your subtotal. They also give you options for tip and I live very close by so I chose to tip 3$. 15 minutes after placing the order I received a call from the restaurant that they received my order but I didn't tip enough and they had a 4$ minimum for tip despite the website giving the option for less than 4$ for tip. I agreed to give more in cash when the food arrived and then when the food was delivered, the driver handed me the food and held his hand out expentantly for more money as tip. The place is infested with bugs: on the floor, on the counter, on the tables--everywhere! And the place is filthy. I hadn't been to this place in years and stopped by to order takeout. I should have known better when I had to brush off a bug from the takeout menu. But I ordered anyway. When I sat down to wait, I noticed dead bugs on the table. So I moved, and there were more on all the tables. So I stood instead then I looked down at the floor. Bug everywhere crawling. The women staff tried to brush it off as gnats from outside, but this was an infestation. Gross! I cancelled my takeout and left, shaking myself off before I got into my car and then into my house. Recently I experienced the worst Chinese food that I have ever eaten We ordered sesame chicken that tasted old and not sure what it was but it wasn't chicken. The egg roll in any Chinese restaurant is the telltale sign to the quality of the establishments food. Hong Kong kitchen had the most disgusting stale tasteless, something that they tried to pass off as the inside of the egg roll. The plexiglass they created around the place was dirty and extremely unappealing. Customer service and loyalty doesn't exist. The appreciation of the customer for patronizing their restaurant was non existent. Of course we wouldn't eat there again if they were last eggroll on earth. Great food. I order about every other week and always good quality. General Tso Chicken is best in the area. Spare ribs recommended. The have a all the usually dishes, but try something different on the menu. I will usually order something new once a month....have never ordered a bad item. Hong Kong Kitchen is a Chinese takeout place in a pretty densely competitive area for that variety of food. All within half a mile you probably have about 4-5 other choices. Still, the staff here is pretty friendly and the food is standout. Their General Tsao's Chicken is significantly better than other places. Egg Foo Young and Chow Fun also stand out. The boneless ribs here are amazing (ask for them well done -- they're best that way). I also like their Egg Drop Soup and Egg Rolls. They throw in the complimentary cans of soda if your order is above the norm in terms of spending. Their fried rice is a bit plain in terms of flavor (it leans towards yellow rather than brown in terms of color) but it is better than serviceable. In terms of appetizers -- dumplings and Spring Rolls are also pretty solid choices. They do offer the extra spicy brown mustard upon request so make sure to ask for a few of them if you like your food with a kick. There are seats here and while I might sit here for lunch and eat I can't fathom who would do that for dinner. Go home! read more

Where do I start about the grossest Chinese food I have ever tried. We normally order from the amazing Chens kitchen in Williston Park but they are closed for renovations. We tried Hong Kong Kitchen on a Friday night and will NEVER be back. We had 5 different orders and none of them were anywhere near good. My chicken and broccoli was 90% broccoli and 100% rubbery. Everything was over cooked and the broccoli I had to gum down. The dumplings were fried rubber and the poo poo platter we tried had this disgusting shrimp toast and a ball of mystery meat, literally smelt like dog food and tasted like the worst meatloaf I have ever had. They also forgot two orders of rice, bascially the only edible thing in the entire order. I will never have this food again. read more

Also noticed deceptive pricing practices. It seems that when you order over the phone that the prices are different from when you pick up at the store. I have to mention that there has been a severe decline in the quality and the freshness of some of the ingredients that they are using it's been obvious to me because I've been going there for so many years.. sad to say that after I indicated some of the flaws it seems they become very indignant and the service and the food get even worse. Solid food has been going here for years. Typically Sunday night take out. Great thing about them is that they put all of the food in a box not a bag the kids sake. They are always very accommodating with special requests. They will give you forks knives spoons and plates upon request. I think I agree with pretty much most of what is said here. Their quality is great. It is definitely one of the best chinese food in the area. You sorta get the sense that the owners are the urbanite Hong Kong chefs not some Chinese American guy trying to tap into the "Chinese Food" scene. The servers are nice, specially when you call them it helps that you do get what you order not what the server thinks you ordered. So in short, authentic Chinese cuisine through a Hong Kong lens, great service. Used to go there for about two years (~once a month.) Food quality consistently decreased..then on one occasion... I found hair in my lo mein! Called the restaurant and the woman wouldn't believe me. I absolutely had no incentive to lie to her. When i brought back the food to prove it to, she was very rude. She started digging through it and would still not admit to it even though the hair was staring at her! All I wanted was for her to take responsibility so that she improves her food hygiene.
