I loved the burger, friendly server, and old diner atmosphere of this restaurant. I got the burger of the month, which was pricey at $16, but was absolutely delicious. It was a Philly cheese steak burger. I really want to give them 5 stars, but I need to ding them on a few things: 1) not bringing out our food together. I finished my plate of burger and fries by the time my husband's burger came out. 2) inside only has 8 seats, which is part of the appeal of the place. They got outside seating, but no shade! It says they have shade on their website, but it was not set up. We were lucky enough to get seats inside, but since they didn't have shade outside, we saw a lot of customers leaving. 3) garlic Parm fries were just okay. I would still come back though, because the menu looked interesting and I want to try a few different things. I especially like that any burger can be turned into a chicken or veggie burger. The beef patty was absolutely delicious and locally sourced. I also love that any burger can be turned into a bowl - no bun, served on lettuce. Will definitely try this option next time! read more

My son mentioned Beefy's to me a few months ago, and today I had plenty of time to check it out in Reno. Watching Carls Jr ads on TV this week, I had a hankering for a burger with a green chile and cheese. I haven't been to a Carl's in 25 years, after a food poisoning incident at a Carl's...but I digress. I pulled in to Beefy's right at opening and took a seat in the outdoor beer garden. It took no time to locate the Greenhorn on the menu. I added an order of tots and a Coke to wash things down. While I was waiting, I took some time to review the very extensive beer choices. The selections were wide and deep, very impressive for a funky burger diner. Sadly, today was not the day to start drinking beers at 11am. The burger arrived pretty quickly, as it was not busy. Here's the best part, it actually looked just like the one (or better!) in the Carl's ad. You know that never happens. Fastfood burgers never look like their TV counterparts. I am pretty certain this was the best "southwestern" burger I have had in my lifetime. It was really really good. The burger was served on a medium pizza platter filled with perfectly crisped tots. There were enough tots to feed Napoleon Dynamite and all of his tormentors. I hadn't paid any attention to pricing when I ordered. But when the check came, it was less than $20 before the tip. What? In my area, any non-fast food burger is going to run $18-22 plus $7 for fries and $5 for a beverage. Nice! My wife is vegetarian. I have to get her to skip the In N Out grilled cheese and try Beefy's, plenty of choices here. The incredible Yelp reviews prompted my stop @ Beefy's while in Reno. The first surprise: The main entrance "front door" is locked, although the signs says open? News flash: you must enter through the back door straight through the tented patio area. The afternoon I choose to go was a hot August day, so we opted to dine inside where Beefy's advertises cold AC. I must admit, I was a bit Leary and surprised once seated at the small bar top in this teeny-tiny burger spot while swatting flies in a Luke warm environment. Although, to my surprise when the burgers arrived they were fresh & super tasty. Beefy's fries & Onion rings were delish as well. I'd definitely return on a cooler afternoon, sit outdoors (picnic table seating) and enjoy another Beefy burger and fries. read more

Great tap list and even greater burgers. There's something for everyone. I have yet to order a burger I didn't love. My favorites are the Stetson with blue cheese and bacon or the Vaquero with crispy fried jalapeños and Swiss cheese. This time around, they had three Russian River beers on tap, including Pliny the Elder. Such a great compliment to all the incredible food. I love the tater tots and fried pickles. This is the one restaurant where I cannot skip dessert. The fried Oreos are to die for!! read more

What a gem of a burger and joint!! Came here with family, even though it's a hole in the wall place, has comfortable seating with individual heaters on top. Food was excellent!! We waited over an hour just for two burgers, which is ridiculous by any standard. When we asked about the wait, staff said they were "slammed," but during that whole time we saw hardly anyone walking in or out of the building. When the food finally arrived, it was completely average--definitely not worth the wait. Nothing special about the burgers, and certainly not memorable enough to justify wasting that much time. This is THE place to get a burger in Reno. It's a hole in the wall small place, you might have to wait for a seat and don't expect a private table unless you're eating outside in warm weather, but do expect the freshest meat from the butcher down the street, the greatest bun and burger and service you could ask for. They've got all sorts of different burgers but a cheeseburger, dubbed the "Nevadan" is all you really need to appreciate the amazing flavors. I've been going here for years and look forward to every visit. 1000% recommend as the best burgers I've ever had. Quaint little hole-in-the-wall burger place. The staff is extremely friendly and it feels very cozy inside. The place is very small but very comfortable. You can sit at the bar and watch a game while eating. The list of burger options is plentiful. They have vegetarian options as well as options with seafood and chicken. You can all swap the beef patty for veggie patty for almost all of the burger options. My in laws from out of town really loved this place (they especially liked the big Roy). I really liked the Korean burger. I wish they carried impossible meat though (then it would be the best vegetarian burger in town). They also have almost any side that you may crave (such as fried zucchini and fried pickles amongst other ordinary items you see at other diners). We plan to return here often! I ordered a Kansas City burger. After my 5 minute drive home the bottom bun was so slathered with mayo the bun had mushed out. I had to eat it with a fork because I couldn't pick it up. The menu said comes with our home made bbq sauce. There was a little bbq sauce, but way more mayo. The fries were way, way too salty. If I wanted half a cup of salt on my fries I would ask for that or put it on myself. The burger tasted ok, but there was nothing about the meal that would make me want to go back. $21.00 for burger and fries out the door. Employees seemed cordial. That was nice. read more

This is a really interesting spot with a unique location and it's cool that they have a bus in the back as seating. The burgers were decent, the garlic fries were normal fries with sautéed jar-lic spooned on top of them. Overall, the food was okay but a bit pricey. We opted for a to-go order and sat for 40 minutes waiting for our food. A man came out and checked on us and we got our food right away. Burger - The Nevadan, cheddar cheese burger. Onion Rings - I thought this was on the expensive side and I could have used much more. Fries - We just got the regular fries, next time we will try the garlic or herb ones. Wings - Zesty Garlic Buffalo, messy but good. FYI - 40 types of beer! Atmosphere - HH from 2-5pm, Mon thru Thur; Wing specials and $1 off draft beers. They also have a burger of the month. Love the small 8 seat indoor configuration. Very historic. Outdoor dining, weather permitting; winter is coming if it is not already here. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 8pm. Very limited parking, or street parking. Not sure if the parking lot is shared with the neighbors...? Service - Okay. Price - $40 + tip, above average prices for what we got. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1947. Hadn't been to Beefy's in a while since I don't work on that side of town anymore, but my lady and I stopped by today and had The Stetson and Vaquero with fries. The quality of the food and the service was great just as I remember it was. The ambience was the same small burger joint feel and great selection of craft beers. Not sure what all the good ratings are for. Perhaps lack of better establishments in the area. Arrived with my 8 year old daughter who was really craving a burger and shake. Was told no shakes today. Then handed two menus and told it will be awhile and I should wait out back. (Was never offered a kid menu, but read on another review afterwards that they had kid menus. Sat with a local at their picnic table and had pleasant conversation with him. Good thing since it took a good 15-20 minutes to have a can of soda and a draft beer delivered. We were there over an hour before receiving our burgers, which I ordered medium rare, but received well done. I ordered the pastrami burger which only added a slice or two of packaged flat pastrami. Very basic. The bun of my burger seemed to be rather old as it disintegrated as soon as I picked it up. I try to be very accepting, but for the price and time spent there, I would much rather just throw a burger on my own grill. Real bummer! read more
