I was in Reno visting family and I've been on a quest to find the best burger. I looked on Yelp and found Beefys Had great reviews. We found that they still have outside seating only. They do have misters that do help with the heat I ordered the nevaden burger with onion rings. After reading the reviews on their burgers. I was surprised to see the meat patty was very thing Overall the burger didn't impresse me. The bun was good and it did have leaf lettuce. The patty being thing just didn't make for a great burger. The restaurant itself is a same old time hamburger restaurant. The employees are friendly. There is a sign on the door that the restroom is closed but they did let people use it. I will NEVER do business with Beefy's again! The owner is the rudest business owner I've ever had the misfortune of having to deal with. I tried to order a couple of burgers to go but the call went straight to voicemail ... twice ... and then I got a message that the mailbox was full. I went into Beefy's to place my order in person. When I mentioned the phone issue to them the owner got very hostile and accused me of harassing his employee, which I absolutely didn't do. I ate here with a friend before we hit the road back home and was pleasantly surprised. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look like much, but it has so much character once you get in. There's plenty of street parking, and they have their own lot in the back, which is where you would enter from anyway. We were greeted the minute we stepped foot inside and handed two menus. You can find a seat anywhere. It's a tight squeeze. We chose to sit at the bar top. It's definitely got that classic diner feel that I love. I'm a beer lover so I appreciated what they had on tap. Our server was super laid back and attentive. Made conversation with us but also gave us space to enjoy our meals. I ordered the Awesome Lady burger. Damn, was it good! This place is so welcoming ! We came here to try it for the first time and the guys who work here are so friendly! The outside patio dining is nice with shade. My burger was really delicious. I asked for my burger to be a medium and it came out well done, but I still enjoyed it none the less. The serving size for the sides were huge! Also had a peanut butter shake for dessert and it was so smooth and packed with so much flavor. Definitely needed on that hot day. Finally made it here! We missed lunch today, so we were looking for something filling. Ended up here and glad we did! Parked along the street in the back. Outside dining was set up with heaters over the picnic tables. Called in the Nevadan with pepper jack cheese, and the Kansas Burger, French fries, and onion rings. Wait time was twenty minutes, walked in to the back and there's an outside cashier. Since the tables were nicely set up, we decided to eat there. The order of onion rings and fries were HUGE!!!! The patties were thicker than most and cooked just right. We both enjoyed the burgers and sides.!! It was a pricy meal for a burger lunch, but only because we got the onion rings at $6.99.. (had to try them)! Of course we will be visiting again in the future!! Only downside was one cashier that handled the money and also bringing the orders to the tables, serving water refills, and condiments. Hi Reno, I revisited Beefy's to see if they had taken the time to improve their service, cleanliness and food... but they had not. Still a dump. A Filthy parking lot with flys all around the big tinky dumpster sitting by the tent's stupid entrance. Windy dusty conditions with no order control. Meat still tastes like Costco paddies...guess that isn't going to improve. Best to just move on to a better place to eat? This review is solely based on a customer service. The food here is pretty good but today when I came in to order my food, the server was just very dismissive and not helpful. So today I came in attempting to order some food prior to me coming in. I had already tried calling the restaurant for about 45 minutes and every time somebody will pick up the phone and hang it up in my face so when I came in and I asked the cashier if they're not taking phone orders, she said no because she was too busy, but it was only two customers inside the restaurant and I had already been calling for 45 minutes so I don't understand how hard it was to answer the phone.. so I proceed to order my food. She's still rude rolling her eyes slamming things down just acting very frantic unnecessary even when she gave me my food she kind of just tossed it and when I asked her for a side of ranch and barbecue, she rolled her eyes and said " what " the whole encounter was just weird.. why hire people who are not friendly in August you don't want to service people this review is for the female cashier with a large spider tattooed on her neck just for reference so maybe the owners could do their job on hiring proper people to do something so simple as in taking a burger order... also upon opening the food this is how my BF burger was. 3 buns. read more

My daughter and I decided hamburgers sounded good so we found this place. It doesn't live up to the reviews. It was ok at best. I don't think we will go back because the guy with the giant bald head, owner or manager not sure, cussed like a sailor. Him and his buddies cussed up a storm sitting right next to us. I was embarrassed for them knowing my daughter was sitting right next to me and heard every word. After hearing the great reviews from friends, I thought I better try it out. We decided to sit outside where they have a handful of tables. The owner greeted and seated us and was very pleasant. We enjoyed the attentive and fast service. The burger was excellent and one order basket of fries was plenty for three people. No refills on sodas since they are in cans. The inside is very small that accommodates less than 10 people. It's so small that their freezer is outside. Went in this afternoon and had a "Plain Jane" and a burger with bacon and eggs. It was one of the best burgers I've had in Reno ! The fry's were delicious as well. It was National Fries Day and we wanted to try one of the places we had not tried that was on the Collection of places on Yelp so we decided to try Beefy's. Looks like a hole in the wall, it stayed super busy while we were there. Parking is a little tight and they have some seating for the summer outdoor in a tent/canopy with misters which is nice. One of the employees noticed my husband was annoyed with it so decided to turn it off for us which was a nice gesture. We ordered the garlic parmesan herb fries, the garlic buffalo wings, and a Nashville chicken sandwich. I know it's a burger place but we do not eat beef. We assumed everyone enjoyed this place because of the burgers as we were not too impressed with the food. The garlic on the fries did not taste fresh, the wings were dry so much that we could see bare skin on some of them, and the chicken in the sandwich was overcooked which made it dry and chewy. The one thing we did appreciate though was their customer service and this was my reason for the 3 stars instead of less. I haven't been in here since my son passed in 2020, I didn't think it would be the same without him. My boyfriend recently moved back to Reno and I discovered he has never had the pleasure of dining at Beefy's. We walked the short distance there, and I was surprised to find there was a new owner and a beer garden. The staff was awesome and let us sample beers before committing to our next orders (we had a few). I was delighted to see they now have a vegan burger. I got it with all of the veggies and avocado. Ate every bite. My date got the greenhorn and loved it. We shared a rather large basket of plain fries, though they were anything but plain. Excellent seasoning with a hint of pepper, which had us fighting over the last few. They turned on baseball for us, and we had a wonderful lunch sitting at the bar, watching baseball, and hamming it up with the staff. I know we will be returning now that it is walking distance. The outside beer garden was full, but looks like it would be great seating. I'm so glad I got to introduce someone else I love to this incredible hidden gem. read more

I was in Reno for the day. I was craving a burger and Beefy's was highly rated so I decided to try it. The place is closed for inside seating due to covid which is understandable. There is a tent in the rear to take orders and outside seating. From the start the cashier was very friendly. I ordered the pastrami burger and onion rings. It was brought out quickly. And they asked me a couple times how I was doing. () The burger is a good size with the burger matching the size of the bun. The pastrami was cooked perfectly juicy and not dry. The burger was made exactly medium. As I ate it it was juicy but not where it comes apart in your hands. I've been to hundreds of burger joints throughout the US and this is most likely top 5 in my book and #1 in the Reno Tahoe area. The onion rings were also made well. I've seen this place, I've heard rave reviews about his place, I've driven by 1000 times and finally I've tried this place. I know some may not car but this place is so damn cute! There are tables outside but I sat at the diner style bar top in the front. The first thing I noticed was that there was an amazing selection of craft beer.... both in bottle, and on tap. You know when you see KBS and CBS in their reach in that, A) you are in a cool spot and B) Maybe the hipsters haven't figured out how cool yet. So when I go to a local burger joint of a given city I want to step out of my comfort zone and try the local favorite. I was in Old Sac with one of my best friends for a Foo Fighters concert when I first tried peanut butter on a burger....don't knock it until you've tried it. So here at Beefy's I am trying to find something strange. Something unique. Something I may or may not hate but for lack of a better term YOLO, you're welcome millennials. So I went with the Spicy Korean Burger complete with kimchi. It was delicious and spicy just in the right way, in that it made my nose tingle but this gringa didn't require a vat of water and a glass of milk. I ordered it medium and it was cooked perfectly. There is nothing I hate more than a hockey puck patty. I had it with the garlic fires and a side of ranch. Totally hit the spot and I didn't feel at fat and weighed down afterwards. The owner was giving a beer 101 to one of his co-workers on their tap beers and I was chiming in with my most unsolicited 10cents he was kind enough to give me a taster or a sour they had one which was very good and a great warm weather beer. They had some fun shirts for sale that were green with a pic of the front facade that I wanted to by but they were all out of women's tanks. I will be back to by one because for some reason it reminds me of Shwag from Patty's Pub from "Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia" Anyways, this place is great but try to get her before or after the lunch rush as it is very small and seating is limited. If you are there on the right time you may get to play a game of "GOTH GIRL COVEN or BEAUTY SCHOOL LUNCH BREAK"! The place has only a few seats inside and outdoor seating, we ended up eating in the car in the parking lot because it smelled so good we didn't want to wait and we were glad we didn't. I ordered the onion burger which comes with raw, grilled, and string onions. I had a cooked medium patty that was so juicy and especially with the crunch from the raw and stringed onions was a delicious combo! Literally my mouth is watering while writing this review My husband got a Kansas City but he devoured it before i can take a picture. So hats off to the chef! I am a huge fan of burgers and this place is HEAVEN!! I give it a 10 star. Their cheeseburgers are incredibly delicious and they have a huge variety of different types of food. From burgers, to hot dogs, Parmesan fries and much more. I was impressed with their online menu but even more with the taste of the meal. I highly recommend this place. They also have a nice variety of draft beers. Service was excellent and I loved their little small patio outside, since inside its a bit small. It does get busy. As we are constantly coming to Reno we like to try local places away from the casino. Today we decided to try out Beefy's. Fair pricing and large selection of beer, but small hole in the wall, which I like. Kitchen is small, as is the building it self but produces a decent menu. We ordered the burger of the month and the Kansas City burger as well as a order of wings. We came at 12pm on a Friday so it was fairly busy. We waited around 15 just to get drink orders in. As well another 15-20 to order food when our drinks finally came. We then waited about a hour for our food, which I know chicken wings take a while to cook. My only complaint was our burgers being warm/cold with our wings being cool enough to eat right away. Food was good, service I assume slow because of the small kitchen one waitress and lots of people trying to squeeze in. We will definitely be back, food was still delicious and very friendly staff doing their best! read more

Don't be scared of the bag..... seriously don't! If you are looking for a greasy burger this is the place. I remover once a friend said the keep the flavor in the grease... after having beefy I thing this is the truth. We picked up take out one evening and my kids said it was the best dinner we had all week. Were my feelings hurt a little. But I thought the same thing to be honest. Our order was ready in less then 10 minutes and the staff was super nice when we picked it up. I know it is a burger place but make sure to grab some fries. While they really are just fries nothing special like seasoned or garlic, they were the perfect side for the burgers. I may have filed up on fries and had half a burger left for later in the evening. My experience was not the best. Saw this place on YouTube and decided that the next time I was in town I would pay it a visit. Arrived at 5:45 pm on a Monday and was told they where only doing to go orders. Because they did not have a dish wash person. Not sure why you can't eat from your to go containers on their tables. I was disappointed because I came from so far and was limited on time. I was not able to get the full experience. Had to eat in my car. Food was ok. Meat could have used a bit more seasoning. The garlic fries had a slight sour flavor. All and all I would not return. Hopefully someday all of the staff can be trained on washing dishes and not rely on 1 person. read more

Winner winner! Burger with a healthy side of nostalgia for dinner. It has been a hot second since I've been to Beefy's. I'm not always in the area and I don't belly up for a burger a that often, but tonight was a reminder of exactly why I need to keep Beefy's top of mind when that's exactly what I'm craving. It was boys night out and I figured that was the perfect time to sneak in to this classic diner turned burger joint. The name is Beefy's, but it may as well be called Roy's clubhouse because everyone was there as much for the burgers and beer as they were to say hi to Mr. Beefy himself! We snagged two seats on a small side counter, ordered the greenhorn burger Med rare, added onion straws (secret item $1) and bacon ($2) and a side of herb parm fries. The burger looked to be about 1/3lb and it was cooked perfectly, nicely seasoned and seared, and super juicy. It came on a beautifully soft and griddle toasted bun, topped with large whole slices of roasted green chili (Ortega need not apply), melty cheddar, and our additions. I speak from experience when I say, cutting the burger is not recommended. You need all the structure to eat it without looking like a slob. The fries had nice seasoning, but I'm not sure it was worth the $2 up charge and would prob stick with plain fries next time. I'd also order them well done, as our pile had some crispy and delicious while some were limp and greasy. The lighting in the diner gave each plate a golden hue, so they looked perfect and I didn't think to order them that way. One order is totally shareable too. Still, a damn good burger and one I'm excited to come back for again soon! read more

I've driven by a number of times and always said to myself that "one of these days I need to try this place." Well I'm glad finally did. I like locally owned places like this that also provide good food. I'm also sort of a hamburger snob, and especially like it when I can find a great burger at a place that isn't a chain. Burger chains have their place since I do travel a lot, so when you see one of them, you at least know what you're going to get, takes away the gamble and research I just got a simple cheeseburger and it was a good size, good meat, and fresh condiments; what more could you ask for? For me it would be if they did everything the same, but it was charbroiled rather than cooked on a grille. Their fries were also excellent. Next time I plan to try the onion rings that I saw the guy next to me eating. Lastly, this is a small place with a small counter inside and some table outside under a canopy. Nothing fancy here, just nice people and good food. I like it that way, I've never found that the food is better if the place is super fancy. read more

I also ordered the maple bacon milkshake which is to die for. I will go back just for that shake. It was also an enormous portion.
