Came in today for my wife's birthday. We've been before and never had an issue, and didn't really have an issue today, but more of a let down. All the main dishes we got were great. 3 of us ordered the pot roast sandwich, and one the Cavatappi Mac and cheese. Again, food was great. But my issue is this. When we first sat, we mentioned it was my wife's birthday and the waitress said happy birthday. At the end of the dinner, the waitress asked my wife if she'd like a dessert to go. We opted for carrot cake and she brought it out and even included a candle for us for her birthday. But she never mentioned that she was charging us the $8 for the "slice" of cake. We all thought it was one of those free dessert for your birthday types of things. Nope. We already had dessert plans for after dinner, so we didn't need the cake, but if it was free then why not? Also, the size of the slice was so small. My wallet for scale which is a normal size mens wallet. I guess it's more the fact that she slid this abysmal looking slice into our bill for an extra 8 bucks. If it was a decent sized slice, I wouldn't feel so bad. It's like it was $4 for the cake and $4 for the candle. Just left a sour taste in our mouth on the way of an otherwise pleasant dinner. Just do better to the next birthday person you encounter in your establishment please. Don't be slimy about tacking on a lackluster piece of cake.

4 simple words: best roast beef ever. Get a standard sammy on a caraway roll with au jus. Welcome to Flavortown. Beer and cheddar soup not too shabby. Also, the Beef and Stilton Pie was delicious. A rich, meaty broth. Would have liked a more comprehensive puff pastry (simply a cracker atop). Endless beer selection on tap. Dark and cozy atmosphere. Service was really slow (understandable for pandemic short staffing), but the hostess was quite possibly the rudest lady I've ever encountered. I would return nonetheless.

We were in need of some lunch on our drive home after a night away in the Finger Lakes. It happened to be Father's Day so we didn't want to get caught in a big crowd or have to wait. We came across Beef and Brew and were pleasantly surprised. There were plenty of tables and the servers were attentive and pleasant. I ordered the roast beef on weck and the homemade apple sauce. Delicious, tender and flavorful beef on a soft yet crisp exterior kimmelweck. The apple sauce was fresh, not too sweet and had the right amount of cinnamon. I liked the soft apple chunks left in the sauce. My significant other had the pot roast sandwich. He said flavorful and tender beef and the rosemary focaccia was the perfect accent to the pot roast meat. The inside is cozy and homey. Nothing fancy but still cute. Delicious food and tons of beer on tap if you are in the mood for a drink.

Favorable reviews can be boring, and in our changed world I'm not really comfortable with my patented sarcasm. So how am I going to get to the required 200 words? Shall I pivot to a travelogue about Geneva, now up to #28 on my all-time favorites list? There's just the right mix of quaintness and industrial edginess, and a grand lakefront steps from downtown. In my second Beef & Brew trip, the beef on weck remained just as perfect, as did the gravy, the horseradish sauce and the applesauce. And though I switched to takeout, the service was still superb. I'd like to diversify, as I'm sure the rest of the menu is good too, but 18 months was a long enough wait for this sandwich.

Went on a recommendation from a friend. Food was okay but the service was SO SLOW. Felt pretty neglected from the moment we sat down - not sure what happened exactly, or if it was just our waiter, or just that particular night, but another waiter from a different section came over to ask if we had been helped... Even to bring our drinks out took nearly 20 minutes. For drinks... on tap. Food came at an okay time, and it was pretty good. Just wish the service was better.

Found this little gem on the trip back from visiting a state park. Heading into Geneva and I asked hubby to check Yelp for a good lunch spot. This was one of the top rated places and it looked exactly like the type of place we would both love. And we did. We were greeted and taken to our seats quickly, even though they were very busy. We started with the fried calamari appetizer; then I went with a burger and my better half went with beef on weck. Everything was very tasty and we were very happy. The Calamari was crispy and seasoned well, and the sauces both complemented it perfectly. My burger was juicy and not overcooked, and hubby raved about the roast beef. If you're in the area I would highly recommend stopping in for a bite (or two).

I have now been to this restaurant 3x since the summer and have not been disappointed. They have a covered deck that there are quite a few tables at, and they even keep it heated when the weather turns chilly. We were actually able to bring our pups with us and sit on the deck. The inside is a nice mix of restaurant and bar and not too loud. And speaking of the bar they have about 50 beers on tap, which include some local choices. They do prime rib on Fridays and Saturdays and let me tell you it's the biggest piece of prime rib I've ever had and so delicious, but better to come on Friday as they could run out for Saturday. They have the nicest staff, and very knowledgeable of the menu.

Excellent choice for beer drinkers and beef eaters. The other members of my group LOVED the beer tastings. Some of them tasted multiple rounds of beer and cider. The other members of my group loved the food, as well. They are all meat eaters. The name of the restaurant is Beef and Brew for a reason. I enjoyed the interesting decor. and being seated in the interesting booth with the curtain. The menu does make an effort to have multiple vegetarian offerings, but none of them excited me. I settled for the Beyond Burger which reminds me so much of a beef burger that I don't look forward to it. I much prefer home made black bean or veggie burgers. Very good staff at this restaurant, as well. Indoor as well as outdoor seating. The outdoor seating seemed to be preferred by families with dogs.

We had a solid first experience at Beef & Brew in those crazy, drowsy, confused days between Xmas and the New Year, when you are still trying to digest the mountains of cookies and sleep off the one-too-many tipples... We had been looking for a centrally-located and still-open-for-in-house-dining place to meet with friends, all of whom have been staying isolated just so we could get together and exchange gifts, and we found Beef & Brew in Geneva. We arrived just as they opened, and were seated in the bigger (and completely empty) dining room right next to the roaring fireplace. Our server was appropriately masked, friendly, bubbly, helpful and efficient. She apprised us of specials on tap, and left menus for us to review. There were 4 of us in total, and we actually skipped the drinks and just had waters and iced teas....but the real story here is the food: - two people started with bowls of the soup of the day, which I believe was like a cheddar and beer soup. There was not much talking while they consumed their bowls, so I am pretty sure the soup was delicious...but I have no other details... For entrees: - one person got the hickory smoked brisket salad - the portion was huge, easily enough for 2 people to share if each were eating it as a meal, or for 4 people to share if you just wanted a side salad. There were several large pieces of perfectly cooked brisket on top of a bed of mixed spring greens, with grilled veggies and a chimichurri sauce - it looked beautiful, and my friend thought it was a good low-carb option. - one person got the beef and stilton pie, which was essentially a bowl full of stewed beef (and I mean FULL) with melted stilton cheese throughout, and a piece of puffed pastry on top to make the 'pie'. It didn't look like a very large portion, but it was really rich and satisfying, and the puff pastry crust was just enough carb to add depth and texture. He would definitely get this again. - one person got the beef and bleu sandwich, which was also full of meat and a good size portion, served with steak fries. The fries were also really good, though our friend was not a fan (he prefers shoe-string fries), so the rest of us ate the fries instead! - and lastly, I had....CHICKEN! I know, what was I thinking at a place with 'beef' in the name, but the chicken pot pie was calling my name, especially after numerous days of overeating rich meat dishes at home. And I was not disappointed in the least. The chicken pot pie was full of big chunks of chicken, plus some veggies, and a relatively light though flavorful gravy, topped with a piece of puff pastry. I ate every bite and was not too full. I would definitely get this again. Now, the experience we had was made even better by the lack of other diners, which allowed us to hear each other talk, and to consume our food unmasked without feeling too anxious...even though we know this has to be agonizingly tough on the restaurant not being filled to capacity. That said, as long as they continue to be able to serve food inside, I would definitely recommend heading out there for a meal. It's worth the 45 min drive from Rochester just to be waited on and have access to foods we don't normally cook ourselves, especially since they have such a great menu and great execution. We'll definitely be back!

Oh em geee If it were legal, my husband would leave me and marry this restaurant. He was sold on the first bite and I was a fairly impressed as well! Fun atmosphere! We can here for lunch and left stuffed! This place does well with their meats! Tender and flavorful!! My husband got the beef brisket salad and ribs, I got the fried green tomatoes and Philly cheesesteak. Wow! They jam packed my sandwich with plenty of meat, cheese, and peppers and onions. I was impressed as I've had too many terrible Philly cheesesteaks where it's mostly bread. We plan on coming back for sure!!!

My husband and I have been to Ravines Wine Cellars several times since 'discovering them' during a special farm-to-table dinner and wine pairing at Good Luck a few years back. That night we enjoyed a 5-course meal and each course was paired with a different wine. It was the first time we ever experienced drinking finger lakes wines that we really enjoyed and could see ourselves buying for private consumption! Shortly after that, we made the trip out to the wine cellar in Geneva to do a tasting. On our first trip, we did the wine and cheese tasting - loved everything and went home with a bottle of Meritage. On the second trip, we did the wine and chocolate tasting (which features chocolates from Hedonist) and came home with a bottle of the Vignoles. Fast forward another couple of years and we took advantage of a holiday event which featured food pairing tastings from Brown Hound Bistro at the Ravines location in Hammondsport. We left with several bottles of wine for holiday gifts. Every experience was great, with friendly and knowledgeable people, enjoyable atmospheres and yummy goodness. Most recently, I was lucky to attend a special dinner at the Ravinous Kitchen as part of a company event. There were 12 of us for a 6-course meal on a Sunday evening (usually they are closed at this time). Included was a tour of the winery and wine cellar, with time spent with the owner and the head chef. It was amazing. The chef prepared really, really delicious dishes for each wine: --We started with glasses of their 2009 sparkling Brut Rose which was delicious. Paired with a bacon puff and served with herbed crème fresh, this was a lovely little bite. --Next, while we were in the cellar, we were served a parsnip bisque with caramelized cheese. We ate that while tasting their 'new' 2015 Meritage right out of the barrel. It was cool in the cellar and the bisque and wine was a perfect little warm up. --First of the 'mains' was a large serving of local Lively Run chevre, with a side of kale and some pomegranate drizzle, served with their 2015 dry Riesling. They also gave each of us a fresh baked roll, and mine was gluten free - the most perfect gluten free roll I've ever had - truly crusty and 'French-bread-like'. I could have died happy after eating this course. --Second 'main' was a stuffed squash with some kind of spinach or creamed green inside. This was doused in brown butter and served with a smear of red miso. The dish was served with their 2013 Pinot Noir. Holy deliciousness. Unlike any squash dish I've ever had, this was definitely the table favorite. Super savory and umami, great depth. Super yum. --Final 'main' was braised beef short rib served with shaved brussels sprouts and a mushroom 'cream' made by roasting a medley of mushrooms and pureeing them with cream. This dish was served with au jus and the 2013 Maximilian red. A rich, delicious combination. I have to admit at this point I was over the top stuffed, but even so, when the chef brought out extra servings of the short ribs, I forced myself to have a bit more. The au jus was delicious and the meat was totally fall-apart tender. So good. --For dessert, we were served a butterscotch 'risotto' - basically a rice pudding with white chocolate, apricots and toasted oats. This was served with the Vignoles. Take a bite and a swig and swirl them in your mouth - flavor explosion! I really love the Vignoles. Even those at the table who are not fans of dessert wines/ports/ice wines drank every drop! (Too bad because I was offering to finish whatever anyone wasn't going to drink, but no takers....) Ravines is definitely at the tippy top of my list of favorite wineries and experiences in the finger lakes. And with all the new awesome eateries in Geneva and the focus on making the little college town a foodie destination, I highly recommend you join the Ravinous club, rent an Airbnb and go there to spend a weekend of eating, drinking and merriment!

If you're somewhat adventurous with food and like trying bits of everything, this experience is for you. The quality of food was perfection! The table was set beautifully with such vibrant foods as part of the decor. And the service was prompt, attentive and warm. My only critique is that the sommelier who was conducting the wine pairing option was speaking way too quickly to understand the information about the selected wines. I one million percent will be returning!

I guess this was a post-covid precaution as during this visit we sat at one large table with all dinners booked for our reserved time. It was fine with us, but just something to be aware of. Service upon arrival and throughout the meal was great; we were greeted and sat right away and offered the options of sparkling, still or tap water. Once all guest were sat they explained the farm board (which to me is the best part of the meal- a mix of dips and dippers). The garlic rosemary focaccia and curry butter are the stand outs and we bought some focaccia next door to take home with us at the end of the night. There was a variety of vegetables to dip and bowls of fruit on the table to choose from. They leave the farm board on the table throughout your meal to pick from. They also offered the different wine pairings- we went with the notorious option and were offered to sub in wines from a list provided. We opted to go with the pre-selected options which paired well with all of the dishes. Our menu then included a turo (tuna) dish, a potato dish that I dubbed a fancy loaded potato (roasted and smashed potato with raclette, bacon, etc) which was the standout of the meal. Our main was a roast duck dish with a sprouted lentil salad. Both were good separately but the salad was overly acidic and took a bit away from the duck. We finished with a panacotta which was also good. Overall another excellent meal from start to finish.
