We had dinner at Sapalta the night we arrived at Plum Point Lodge. We celebrated with cocktails while watching the moody dusk sky over Seneca lake. The food was served in perfect portion sizes, artfully plated and tasted delicious. So much so that we decided to come back for brunch the next morning. This farm to table restaurant is a major bonus for visitors to the lodge but a hidden gem for everyone else. read more

Our party was so excited for this dinner and everything missed the mark. To start, the hostess was not very pleasant and there was a miscommunication on who was serving our table, so we waited 25 minutes till someone in our party spoke up. We also were looking forward to dining on the water, but there was a private party which was not stated when we made our reservations. On top of this, our steaks were served mooing, our sober friend was served alcohol, the ice was being scooped bare-handed, and one of our take home boxes was filthy when given to us. It is also very hot inside. At the end of the day, the server apologized and nothing was comped. We will never be going back or recommending this place. read more

Quite a nice lakefront restaurant connected to a lodge. It was raining so we opted to sit inside, but it would've been lovely to eat outdoors on a nice day. We ordered their summer melon prosciutto salad, hot chicken sandwich, and charcuterie board to try local cheese and meats. Their hot chicken is actually HOT. My dad had to ask to remake it without the sauce because it was unbearable for him, but they were kind about it. read more

I would extremely rarely give a restaurant a 1. Sapalta has been our favorite restaurant in the area. But tonight fell well below our expectations. They must have a lot of new staff. Service was not good and it was very obvious our server was inexperienced and new. I could totally live with that. Meals came ... they were flavorless. One person got the steak and potatoes and the steak was so tough and flavorless, she couldn't even eat it. Same with the potatoes - no seasoning at all. My husband got the salmon wrapped in cabbage which was mediocre. I got the scallops. They were ok, but served cold. When you have seared scallops, you expect them hot. The base of the dish seemed to be just canned tomatoes without any seasoning. So, as I said, the restaurant has been our favorite in the past and the surroundings are beautiful. It has so much potential. I sincerely hope this was just an anomaly. read more

The super cozy restaurant with an amazing scenic view of the finger lakes is a must visit spot. The 5 course meal was tasty and fulfilling. All the ingredients were locally sourced and every server in the restaurant knew where the ingredients came from and knowledge of the dish. We only had appetizers but several drinks. Let me say our bartender, Christina, was amazing. She is local to the area with worldly bartender experience. It was obvious she loved her craft and was committed to making the experience the best it could be from handcrafted ingredients to balancing drinks with edible flowers and herbs. read more

Came here for brunch (only place open for brunch on a Saturday) and it was SO yummy! Everyone cleaned off their plates. The eggs Benedict were the best I ever had. They also use local wines to make their mixed drinks! And even have fun mocktails too!! Plus you can't beat the view! read more

Not Sure what to think. After looking at the on line website menu, we found several great looking menu items. We were very happy as a few of the meals were exactly what we were looking for. Before requesting a reservation I asked about the menu items only to find out most of the online menu items were not available. Glad I asked as it saved a 1/2 hour trip and extreme disappointment. I've wanted to try this place for awhile because I'm familiar with the chef. The food did not disappoint. Everything we had was truly excellent (steelhead trout, shrimp, and tiramisu). All mouthwatering. I do wish we had tried the bread, but next time. Bonus that if you're staying there you get happy hour pricing on drinks regardless of the time. Good local wine selection. Where it fell a bit short was service. The manager (?) was excellent and took care of us right away, but our server didn't know that and got to us after a long wait, yet surprised we had been attended to. An amazing restaurant with views of Seneca Lake! The staff is welcoming and really go above and beyond to make your night out here a memorable one. I highly recommend making a reservation for outdoor dining if weather permits. Sadly, it was a rainy day so my reservation was moved indoors. The views of the lake indoors is still amazing so don't be discourage if you encounter a rainy day as well. If you are fortunate to receive Maddy as your server, you are in for a treat! She was very pleasant and attentive to our needs without being overbearing. She gave my girlfriend and I plenty of time between courses to enjoy our food and beverages. The restaurant prides itself on the farm to table concept and while I don't visit often enough to have the same dish twice, I never been disappointed either time. I went My most recent meal consisted of the Steelhead Trout with a risotto accompaniment. I also opted for the roasted asparagus and Yukon smashed potatoes as additional sides. The trout was seared nicely and flaked off the fork easily. The potatoes and asparagus were nicely roasted and seasoned well! My girlfriend enjoyed the lump crab cakes and the few bites I had reenforced the notion that you can't lose with any dish your select. The only question one has to ask themselves is, what are you in the mood for when you visit. read more

VIEW: The patio was perfect for viewing the sunset over the lake. Through the sillouette of the trees we could see the beautiful colors of the sky as well as the reflection of the colors in the water. LIVE MUSIC: Sapalta offers live music and for being seated closest to the artist it is pleasant to say that the volume wasn't so loud that tables could not converse. It's always nice to have live music but it's also nice to hear the company you are with. FOOD: The food was delicious and the portions are decent. Unfortunately I was unable to eat my whole meal because it was bedtime for my unconsolable baby. The wonderful waitress wrapped everything up and sent my meal to-go with my party. The food was still delicious as I finished my meal fireside by the Yurts! In conclusion, Sapalta is a must try for parties of all sizes and especially perfect if you are glamping in a yurt! read more

Went for my husband's bday based on a recommendation from our host. I don't usually leave a 5 star, but everything from the service (thanks, Maddie!) to the view and, of course, the food was spectacular. Wines were local; outstanding Chard from Lamoreaux. Started with the pea shoot salad ( dressing was totally different and wonderful). Entrees included seafood risotto and the gnocchi. Both lived up to our expectations. We decided to come to Sapalta's for my boyfriend's birthday. Although we live in the area, we have never been so we decided to try it out for the first time. It did not disappoint!! The drink special was Lavender Haze and it was delicious. We split a Caesar Salad for our appetizer and they brought us some bread with it. We both ordered the Gnocchi and it was fantastic! It melted in your mouth. For dessert I had the Tiramisu and my boyfriend had the brownie. They were great! Not only was the food delicious, but the view of the lake is so peaceful. This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the FLX Region! Everything I have ever had here has been amazing! We stopped in last minute after hanging around Seneca and were once again wowed from their soup to their burger to their cocktails. I started off with their Plum Manhattan which is a really cool take on a Manhattan. It uses (I believe) McKenzie bourbon from Finger Lakes Distilling, cream sherry from Hunt Country Vineyard, plum jam, and bitters. It was surprisingly delicious, which is awesome because I'm used to traditional Manhattans made with rye whiskey, sweet and/or dry vermouth and bitters. The bourbon is a great, local, traditional style bourbon, the cream sherry is an interesting choice but adds a little sweetness which is supplemented by the plum jam. My fiancée also ordered a strawberry sangria that they had on special and it was fantastic too. You could taste the fresh strawberries in the drink which was superb. My fiancée ordered the crab bisque and I also got it as part of my entree. This wasn't like a lot of typical bisques that are just a creamy flavored broth. This soup was jam packed with yummy, sweet crab meat! This would be my part of my last meal if I had a choice. I got the soup, salad and bread and the salad portion was also incredibly fresh and I loved the herb dressing they used. My fiancée got the Old Man Cheddar burger. The quality of the meat is outstanding and it really shows in the taste of this burger. It has wonderful flavor that is perfectly complimented by the Muranda Cheese's Old Man Cheddar. The ingredients for this burger are very basic but the flavor anything but that! In my opinion, Sapalta is one of the best examples how great eating local and eating farm to table can be. We had a lovely evening at Sapalta. We made reservations in advance for seating outside. The view is beautiful. Our server Sue was wonderful and kind. She explained that service was going a little slow and some items on the menu were sold out. My husband and I were on a small getaway so we didn't mind sitting, talking and enjoying our drinks and each others company. Our food was delicious. And the desserts ? Amazing! Like most restaurants we understood that they are also experiencing a lack in dedicated help but those that served us were able to make up for that. Called in an attempt to change our large party reservation to an earlier time. The person I spoke to was unable to accommodate. She kept telling me that they only have one table for large groups (? other establishments move tables around to accommodate different sized groups all the time). I wish I could write a different review... to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Let's start with what I appreciated, the service and our server, the location- loved sitting outside with a view of the lake, the cocktails were yummy. I was part of a party of 8. There was live music which I am never a fan of to be fair while dining- I want to talk and not over music. The music was loud and there was annoying feedback and a high pitched sound that was unpleasant. We ordered the charcuterie board and cheese dip appetizers. The board was very scant for the cost, the cheese dip was nice. The other diners seemed to be pleased albeit not enthusiastic about their meals. I had a bite of my partner's crab cake, it was good, not great, good and French fries, also good but nothing special. I regret not sending my meal back. I ordered the cauliflower steak and couscous. The couscous had no flavor and was stuck together and hard- like it had been sitting out for hours. The cauliflower steak, about 1/6 of a head of cauliflower had no discernible spice profile and was not roasted well enough to bring out any of the beautiful flavor that is inherent to roasting. This dish was also massively overpriced at over $20 when the food cost was about $3. read more

This place was amazing! My friends and I went for dinner and loved everything we had. We got the charcuterie board, crab bisque, bread and jam, Moroccan shrimp, gnocchi, venison, tenderloin, ice cream and tiramisu. I don't eat meat, but everything I tried was stellar. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh and treated with care. The crab bisque was the soup of the day and me and my friend who both got it agreed that it may be the best soup we have ever eaten. Best dining experience EVER! I read reviews about their pea shoot salad so I decided to order it as well as their bread with your spread. Both were amazing but the pea shoots... OMG!!! So tender and tasted like they were just in the garden minutes prior to being served! I had shrimp with couscous and my hubby had gnocchi with meatballs. Again surprised us with the flavors that just was superb!!! For dessert we only had enough room for one. Again, just delightful strawberry crepe! I must add that I asked for my cocktail to have more tartness and the bartender mad it so. It was Grey Goose vodka, Chambord and lemon twist. My friend and I shared a burger and chicken & polenta with a bottle of their rose to start. As you can see by the pic of the food, it was delightful. Our server was running all over the place (very busy) yet somehow didn't skip a bear with us. We also had spiked coffee and dessert to top it all off. I didn't realize this was on property of a retro hotel/motel as well as Yurts and a pool on property. Might be a cool place to come back to with kids. Food: Potato and goat cheese gnocchi was a pasty mess with no detectable goat cheese, dry flavorless meatballs, and Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee grade sauce. Delicious smoked trout dip appetizer. Really fresh and tasty pea shoot salad (the replacement of my sent-back gnocchi.) Service: pretty good, actually. The wait staff seemed very good at apologizing, but the thing is, they were doing it a LOT, and not just at my table. Had a savory roasted pumpkin soup to start and followed that with a perfectly cooked and tender beef filet with mushrooms served with potato mash with corn (both sweet and regular potatoes).
