This is a lengthy review and appears to start out poorly, but Bee Safe Bee Removal's owner Harold, is a prime example of what all small business owners should strive for. He took a bad experience and turned me into a delighted reviewer just by his timely response to my posts. Very professional! I was quoted $399 for a bee removal service after sending a video of bees swarming around an abandon dog house Unbeknownst to the company my property is blanketed with security cameras which recorded all that transpired. They arrived at the property and were in the yard for less than 15 minutes. They did not open the doghouse to inspect the inside. They sprayed a powder that repels bees, something I could have easily done myself or hired a pest control company to do for half the money they have charged me. The contract I signed specifically was for bee "removal" not preventative treatment. The ethical business thing would have been to contact me and let me know there were no bees present and they were going to treat and provide the price which should have been, I assume a lower price since it involved limited danger, no deconstruction of a structure to access a hive and again was a treatment, not a removal, as my video shows. Before signing the contract for the work I had several quotes which all were within $50 either lower or higher than Bee Safe Removal services. I chose them based on web information and Google ratings and while they may be good at removing pests, in my opinion their business practices lack good customer service skills based on the way they did business with me. What is sad is I am a professional business consultant that specifically works with smaller in home service companies across the country and I lecture and teach thousand of service companies annually. The video of the service I received will serve as a great example in all my future customer service classes of how not to treat customers if you want good referrals and a good reputation. After alerting Bee Safe Removal that I had video of what was done and the fact they did no removal, just spraying a treatment and left, I was offered a $25 "coupon" in a pathetic attempt to solve the complaint. I was not looking for a free service, just a reasonable price after not performing the service I hired them to do. Of all people as a business consultant I understand the cost of running service trucks in the field. I advocate in classes charging a reasonable fee even to show up at a home, but $399? If indeed the charge of $399 is their minimum fee even if they did no bee removal, that should have been clearly stated in their contract and I might have chosen another vendor or at least been aware of the high price of getting them to my home. Regardless of the service others may have received I can't give this business a good or even fair review rating, only poor. If they make a more reasonable attempt to solve my complaint I will gladly post an update and turn this into a rave rather than a rant, but I am not holding my breathe. Update: The owner who I could not get through to saw my review and reached out to me to understand what happened and try to find a resolution. He reached out by text, kept me informed as to when he could contact me, when he was running late for our call he let me know and then..... he was willing to call me at 9:30 at night to solve my issue. Harold listened to my concerns and was courteous in his response. He acknowledged the need for some added training with staff for dealing with similar situations and adjusted my bill to reflect the service they provided. Even though my initial interaction did not go well this company and owner demonstrated what great customer service looks like and Harold and his team will be the only referral I would ever make for these types of services. He quickly quoted me a price should he need to access the container and remove the bees; however, he was very clever and watched the bees carefully to see that they were more than likely only around the bottom of the container to access the water that puddles there. He moved the container a bit and sure enough, no other bees came swarming out - no bee hive! Solution = let the area dry out as I had been watering far too much and that would deter the bees. I called them in the off season in hopes that the pricing would be reasonable and quick service since the demand is low. The Bee Safe Bee Removal did provide a quick response and came out to my home the same day. The lady in the office was great in listening to understand my concerns and asked questions. There was some room for improvement in the service that was executed at my home. The young man came to my home and I explained the concerns. He just threw some dust around and was done in about 5 minutes. I didn't feel that he really cared to resolve the problem I was having... He did go the extra mile when I requested to see the wasp nest. Payment was also a concern as our wires got crossed on who I was suppose to pay. I used them for what turned out to be a complicated removal. A large hive formed inside my garage after the bees has entered through a small opening between my brick and trim on an outside wall. The bees were only visible from the outside. My reason for the 4 versus 5 stars is the crew appeared to be in a rush to get this done on a rainy night and opened my roof too high without really understanding the work from the owner. There is a bit of a language barrier with the crew. They ended up coming back the next day and had to attack the problem from both the outside and inside of my garage. This turned out to be a very time consuming job. I felt like the owner probably under quoted the job because it got very complicated, but he did not ask to increase the price which was great customer service. Long story short, the hive and bees were extracted and everything was put back into place as best as I could expect with the complications. The bee work was fine, The crew used a reciprocating saw to open the wall. The cuts were pretty sloppy and not easy for me to repair, but the real problem is they cut wires feeding the wall outlets nearby. They then asked me if I had some electrical tape, so they could fix it. I have decades of experience in construction, and you do not repair a cut wire by just taping the cut ends together. I was also called by their supervisor about getting them some tape. The fact that they seemed to think this was acceptable indicates to me this is not the first time this has happened. I said I would have a professional fix it, and requested $50 discount to cover this, which they agreed to. Should have asked for $200 This kind of work could potentially result in a fire. it is totally unacceptable. I called the phone person twice, saying I wanted to speak with a manager.
