Here's the long and short of it: They're dishonest and you need to avoid these folks.
A salesman came to our door and offered an $80 treatment special. I tend to be wary of door-to-dor salesmen, but figured this seemed pretty low risk. Boy, was I wrong! The guy came and sprayed, and it all seemed fine, and my card was charged just as I knew it would be for $80. The big shock came with the next credit card bill when I found out I was being charged $40. I called to find out what this was about, and the girl on the other end told me I had signed up to be charged $40 monthly for an annual contract where they come back three more times. Shame on me for signing things without looking, but at no time did this salesman say anything about me signing for a years worth of charges to my card. I talked to the owner of the company, and he said he had my signature on the agreement. I'm sure that's true, and again, shame on me. I told him that I had no idea that I knew this was the deal when I was signing up for it, and he said he'd let me out of the contract for an additional $170, because, he said, that was what the treatment I'd gotten is really worth, plus the $80 we'd already spent. I promise, this was not a $250 job this guy came out and did. More like the $100-150, which is exactly what we'll end up paying for these four jobs, once the contract is expired. The owner expressed shock that his people would do such a thing, and promised to have word about this with his sales manager. He truly regrets how this turned out, and yada, yada. Meanwhile, my card will continue being charged $40 every month, because I might as well go through with the deal and get my three more treatments than pay this guy off.
Whether they're crooks or it's all an unfortunate misunderstanding, I'll let you be the judge. Just be sure to read whatever these folks have you sign, or you'll regret it. read more
