I hired Travis to come out and inspect some bee activity I was having on the second story/roof of my house maybe 2.5 years ago? Give or take (yes way long over due review) he is a very nice and likable guy. So at the time, I did not know that you should not kill bees as they are not as plentiful as they used to be. If I had known, maybe I would've tried to find a relocation service as opposed to exterminating them but that would've cost me a LOT of money cause it would've turned into home construction and Travis's solution did end up helping me achieve a resolution to the second issue I had from the dead bee hive. He said in order to remove them by hand he'd pretty much have to cut out a chunk of my wall from the exterior because it was in an awkward spot, to have access to them. Honestly the bees couldn't have chose a worse spot to live and I'm not going to pay 10k for the bees to stay alive. So after I paid him $250 to drop a death stick in the hole the bees were inhabiting, they all presumably died in the next 24-48 hours. About a week later, there is a very rancid, fish like smell in one of the bedrooms closest to the area where the bees were, which the culprit turned out to be rotting honey comb. I am very lucky I had a family member who was able to think of the least invasive way to remove the dead nest/rancid honeycomb by cutting a hole in the drywall roof in the bedroom closet and squeezing up there to remove all the honey comb and dead bees by hand and with a shot vac. It was the weirdest issue I've ever encountered in my home, and if it weren't for my family friend, I would've had to take Travis's advice to cut through concrete or whatever the material is on the exterior of the home to remove all the rotting honeycomb/dead bees which easily would've been thousands of dollars. That same family friend also put some metal screening in the vents/openings to the outside to help prevent it from ever happening again. It definitely was not an easily accessible spot for bee removal, and it probably wouldn't have been possible to remove them alive without either 1. Removing a chunk of the exterior wall (too expensive) or 2. Getting them all up in my house. Both are horrible options. So yeah it ended up working out for me luckily, and I think it was just a horribly unique place for the bees to decide to live. read more
