The best is the pita and the labana..amazing the bread is just so good im not supposed to even be eating wheat but this fresh baked thin dough-ey pita came to me all warm and perfect....mmmmmm, just delish. I can't confirm its home made but it has to be...it's dangerously good! as far as the rest of the veg stuff: The beet salad is good, chickpea and spinach salad good, grape leaves were delish...the hummus and baba were good, but i agree with other reviewers that both were a little oily though and a little runny...also agree falafel was very dry and i would have liked some hot sauce and a bit more tahini or sauce cuz it was so dry, but i didn't requested it in my grub hub order so cant really blame, just would have been nice. This is a small, but cozy and cute restaurant. I came here on a rainy afternoon for their lunch special. I had lamb merguez which came with a salad, bread, sauce, and babaganoush. Lunch also includes a free drink. The hot mint tea hit the spot on that cold day. The meal was filling and cost me only $8 including tip. Just went there for the first time with my wife. It was a cold night and it wasn't too crowded in there, but the food was really good. Everything tasted really fresh. We got the lentil soup, and the assorted plate with hummus, babaganouj, foul, labana, and bedawi salad. It came with 2 pieces of freshly baked homemade pita. Then we shared a chicken ouzi. It is rice, carrots, peas, raisins, almonds and chicken wrapped in a pastry. Great spices and really great flavor. All in all a great meal, not to mention inexpensive and BYOB! read more

My friends and I ordered lentil soup and chicken platter. We had all licked our plates (so to speak) by the end because the food was delicious! Tahini sauce with lemon spice covered chicken was amazing! To top it off, the super friendly waiter greeted us with piping hot mint tea to help with the cold before our food arrived and served us delicious basbosa cake at the end- all on the house. Love this place! Have been there lots of times and have not thought to write a review. Go here at least once a week for the last couple of years. Big fan of Bedawi pizza which is thin crust with zucchini, cheese, tomato sauce. Was very pleased when I realized whole wheat pizza and pitas are options - really yummy. Also a big fan of the hummus and the cold appetizer plate can choose either 3 or 5 appetizers to get a variety. Recommend the falafel as well as the spinach and mozzarella calzone (ok I'm forgetting the Mediterranean word for this) especially good with the whole wheat crust. Great Middle Eastern food and seems like one of the few remaining reasonably priced restaurants in Windsor Terrace/Park Slope. The owners are very friendly and the service is good. In the nice weather there is a garden in the back. This is one of those Brooklyn finds. Enjoy! read more

Since the demise of the shawarma place on 16th & PPW, there's been a need for a spot like this (though the Fez -- a block away -- is also outstanding). Ordered take-out: leg of lamb sandwich, falafel platter, & leg of lamb platter. All were excellent -- very fresh, not greasy, with flavorful hummus & baba ghanouj. (The pickles on the lamb sandwich were remarkable.) While picking up I observed that the place was clean and nicely decorated. The staff went out of their way to be friendly, and the price was good. I've had a lot of Middle Eastern food here and abroad over the years and I can't believe my neighborhood restaurant is the best, since I haven't started frequenting Bedawi until recently! Dishes feel fresher, spice notes more complex. Here is a friendly, family business and I suspect the dishes are served with love. Hummus is authentic, which is different from the Sabra or grocery store brands I'm used to. I really enjoyed my meal at this cozy Jordanian treasure in Windsor Terrace. I've walked by Bedawi Cafe numerous times but never stopped to check out the menu because it is so small it seems more like a take away, but we recently got a delivery menu in the mail & virtually every dish called to me, so I had to give it a try. It was a warm evening and there was no a/c on but we sat in the rear garden. Kinda charming if you don't mind plastic flowers but that had me singing Drive By Truckers songs for the rest of the night. Given the heat we skipped mains and got the 5 cold appetizers plate and 2 small pizzas. This was enough food for dinner plus lunch leftovers for both of us. Tabouleh salad and baba ganoush got big thumbs up. Faul was good but I missed the big green limas. Potatoes were tasty but a bit dull. Stuffed baby artichokes tasted a bit too much like olives (and I love olives); I think I would have liked them better had they not been pickled. Pizzas were great. We got the lamb, which has no cheese, and the grilled veggie, which had loads of yummy gooey cheese on top. I liked the lamb but I'm not sure it's for everyone- picture a flatbread with lamb tapenade flavored with sumac. Needed a touch more spice though for me. I'd order it again though for sure as well as the veggie. There is no liquor license but the mint tea was perfectly satisfying and it kept the bill down. They will let you bring your own beer and wine but please note, this is a state liquor law violation for the restaurant and could earn them a fine. Bedawi is high on my list for a return visit as there is much more on the menu I want to try. read more

Good food, excellent services, great prices! First of all, the service was lovely, attentive, and they seemed to truly appreciate our business. Which is always nice to find. And the food is definitely worth going for. We had the lentil and bulgur salad appetizer with sweet fried onions and it was FANTASTIC. We also had the spinach and chickpeas appetizer, which was good, but didn't compare to the lentil/bulgur salad. By the way, the appetizer portions were large enough to be filling for a light dinner. But we didn't stop there...:D We had the Chicken Ouzi and the Falafel platter. The falafel was just right, a bit spicy, not greasy, came with delicious babaganoush and the hummus was pretty good too. The Chicken Ouzi was fantastic, though I could have lived without the actual chicken chunks, which were a bit dry. But the rice was amazingly flavourful, and the whole dish is hearty and large enough to share between two people, and we still took home half! Dessert was another pleasant surprise, they were sold out of the baklava, so we had the other option, the basbousa. That's a semolina cake and even though it didn't sound appetizing to me, it tasted fantastic. The turkish coffe was also very good. You sense a theme here? :) WORTH A VISIT! read more

I am kind of confused about this place. Seems there's a one thing we can agree on - the atmosphere is lovely. I haven't seen their talked about backyard, but inside is cozy and charming, if small. But the food really throws me for a loop. The reviews are split into those that think the food is fabulous and those that think it is tasteless. I was here for the first time months ago and I didn't remember a bad experience - I thought it was pretty good and at least almost on par with its colleagues such as Zaytoons and Olive Vine. But upon returning tonight I was baffled as to how I could not remember that nearly everything is completely tasteless. Their house special soup - bland. Hummus, bland. Fava. Bland. Labne. Bland. I poured salt and pepper over everything and it barely helped. Fresh pita, yes. But this is standard in Bklyn Middle Eastern places. But it's blander than other places even though it is just white bread. I don't know what's up with the chef here but I wish they put the same effort into their cooking as they did their decor. read more

This place warmed our bellys and hearts from the moment we walked in and inhaled the thick aroma of bread and spices that filled the air. I was a little wary, since we were pretty much the only ones in the place, but then again it was only 4:00--too early for most people to have dinner. Our waiter was both charming and reserved and brought out our piping hot mint tea immediately. Served in big, cozy mugs, it was exactly what the doctor ordered on a cold December evening (err...late afternoon). Our meals were brought out soon after, and it was clear that everything was cooked fresh to order, down to the warm pita they served us-right from the oven to our plate. The meat wrapped in phyllo dough was beautifully done, as was the lamb sausage with a big dollop of fresh tasting hummus. The food here is real homemade food, kind of like something your Middle Eastern grandma would make, and then serve to you on her best dishes. Came here after riding my bike around the Windsor Terrace area and saw that they had a garden. While I noticed that on Yelp, a lot of people called this place a take-out place, I thought it was nice to sit out back. The front area makes it look like a fast food place, with not very welcoming seating. Then you walk past the kitchen, past some strange rooms, and out into the backyard and it is quite a nice little space. There is a tarp that covers the patio, with a bunch of middle eastern looking material hung under the tarp to cover most of the tarp. One good thing - if it rained, you wouldn't get wet. While the décor wasn't anything fancy, you could definitely tell that the place made an effort. There are tea lights, there are a couple of fountains that have water coming out of it, with some other lighting along the gate. This place is really not pretentious, or over the top and great if you are looking for a casual place that is super cheap and still one step above a café. The tables here were pretty steady with customers which was nice to see. We got the lamb entrée which was good, and I loved getting the cold appetizer combo. Only 9 bucks and you get to choose up to 5 cold appetizers. It was a vegetarian dream - I had some stuffed grape vine leaves, baba ghanouj, tabouleh, the bedawi salad, and the beet salad (SO GOOD!) and it came with some naan all for $9. We didn't bring any wine with us, but should have as this place is BYOB which is a huge plus. The waiter service was low key, and not in your face, and he was very attentive. We even got two little pieces of corn (?) cake at the end for free which was a nice touch. If I am on my bike, I will definitely be coming here again as it really made me feel transported to another country. read more

I've been here twice in the last week and that's probably going to turn into thrice to be perfectly corny about it. Brought two different groups of friends and they both loved the humble outdoor garden and chill, home-like dining experience. But on top of that, the food, though timely prepared is also very carefully prepared and is worth double whatever prices they are charging. The chicken and falafel platter with baba ganoush or hummus or whatever other sides they offer but I haven't tried yet are outstanding. I'm one of those health freaks that avoids wheat products but I made an exception twice in one week I tell you for their pita. It is a circular pillow of dreams. But eat it while it's hot!! Lentil soup is unexpected and fantastic and I have no idea what spices are in it. The spinach pie appetizer looks like a monster football that I absolutely am trying soon. They have pizza. They gave us complementary cake because I think they thought we were annoyed we had to sit in their pretty backyard for too long. Nope. Food (meat not cooked enough) and service nothing to brag about...they have outdoor seating in the back but if there are other people there it's too close.
